Coming from Las Vegas where we have ample options of Filipino food, I would say that Pinpin in Vancouver is top notch. This locally owned restaurant offers traditional and authentic Filipino cuisine. The taste of the dishes stays true to its original flavor. The place including the restrooms are clean. The staff are very pleasant and accommodating.

A long overdue post on my very first Filipino restaurant. Located on Fraser St, Pin Pin gave me a vibe of mom and pop restaurant that we typically find in Asia. It's been a while so I won't try to rate the dishes in details. I remember really loving the sisig and desserts. The soup was also really enjoyable, while other dishes were decent. I will say that some dishes could be rather oily but that's how it's meant to be (?). Dishes we ordered: 1. Sisig ($18.95) 2. Medium Squid ($17.5) 3. Ensaladang Talong ($14.95): Eggplant salad with tomato, onions and salted egg 4. Bangus Belly ($24.95): Milkfish in tamarind soup base 5. Ube Halo Halo ($11.5) 6. Leche Flan ($9.75)

Pinpin is classic Filipino place that does taste like Lola's home cooking. Their late late is really tasty! Portions are large. No reservations taken so it gets busy especially weekends after church. Good for large group of people. I recommend getting the halo halo which is huge! They have perfect balance of Ube ice cream and lots of leche flan which is my favourite part.

Filipino Chinese place along Fraser near 46th. Parking is available on the side streets, as well as metered spots in front. The restaurant actually takes up 2 storefronts. Guess they're doing well. There are 2 separate dining rooms, separated by a doorway. The place looks like a modern living room. Staff were friendly and helpful. Tuna pork sisig - sounded good, but honestly tasted like regular pork sisig with a can of tuna fish mixed in. Guess I was expecting something different. Personally I'd skip the tuna and go for the regular pork sisig. Roast pork sure is tasty though. Miki bihon - egg and rice noodles mixed with vegetable, chicken, and shrimp. This is basically Shanghai style noodles with less soy sauce but with vermicelli also mixed in. Also interesting. Overall the experience wasn't bad, but nothing really stuck out. Can't really comment on the authenticity.

Chicken Inasal with Java rice for take out

Was walking down to this one place next block to pick something up and saw Pinpin. It's been a long time since I've eaten here. Especially since that viral video on FB and YouTube showing this crazy altercation with a customer and the owners lol! It was packed so I decided to do takeout. I ordered the Chicken Inasal, a side order of lumpia Shanghai and it was ready un 15 minutes and the price was right! Brought it back to my place and the reason for the 4 stars is because the Java rice wasn't as good! It seemed like Taco Bell rice?!! Maybe I was dehydrated but I think it was the rice lol. Chicken was tender and the lumpia was bombb. Maybe I should've paid or substituted it for the garlic rice cause well you can't go wrong with garlic rice!!! maybe it was a miss day for the rice but eventually I'll be back soon.

I rarely eat Filipino food, like maybe once a year. But I really like Pinpin. The first time I dined in was 3 years ago and today is my second visit. I ordered the pork combo and lumpia shanghai. They also have a whole bunch of desserts that were already premade. I normally don't like to order something that I'm not familiar with but I decided to be brave today. Lol. I LOVE everything I ordered. The pork skewer had the right amount of favour and the lumpia was still crunchy when I bought it home. The desserts were sooo good. The pichi-pichi (steamed cassava flour balls mixed with sugar and lye) was not that sweet and it tasted so good with the grated coconut flakes. Also the espasol (cylinder-shaped rice cake) was delicious as well. It was soft and chewy. Service was friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this restaurant especially if you're looking for good Filipino food in East Van.

The best Filipino restaurant for authenticity, execution of dish, value, and consistency in PNW.

A good place to try Filipino dishes although it can be busy and you have to wait to be seated. The good thing is they have a separate waiting area so you don't have to wait outside the restaurant. Also, splitting bills are not applicable so you have to be prepared with cash or just do e-transfer to the person paying the bill.

Sisig (chopped pork with onion and lemon), sitaw at Kalabasa sa Gata (string beans and squash in coconut milk), garlic rice

I come here mainly for one thing - crispy pata! (A look around the restaurant, I see this dish on almost every table too!) The crispy pata is definitely a must order! I love eating the crispy skin along with some soft fat as it has so much texture when I bite into it, it is truly crispylicious! We also got the sisig (chopped pork with onion and lemon) which is absolutely rice's soul mate. However, I did find that having two dishes of crispy pork was a bit too much. Even though I really liked both dishes, I prefer the crispy pata over the sisig because the sisig is a tad too salty for me (hence have it with some rice). Garlic rice from this restaurant tastes so good! If you're here with your date, make sure he/she eats some too so you're not the only one with garlic breath. For soup, we got the hipon sinigang (tamarind soup base) which had a tangy taste, and I found to be especially refreshing. It was really nice to have this along with the fried crispy prata and sisig. Finally, we also got a vegetable dish - asitaw at kalabasa sa gata (string beans and squash in coconut milk), which I found to be mediocre. Not too much excitement in this dish, but went well with rice as well. In summary, get the crispy pata. Garlic rice, too.

    Sisig is good.

Terrific Filipino food in Vancouver, British Columbia. Our aunt took us to Pinpin Restaurant after picking us up at the airport. We all were fans of their scrumptious Filipino cuisine. Some of our favorites were the Fresh Lumpia, Pusit (Squid), Seafood Kare Kare, and the Sisig. It is a guarantee that from now on, we will be visiting Pinpin Restaurant whenever we travel to Vancouver. They are the place to go for fullfilling your Filipino food craving.

They even make their own sauces that are bottled and you can bring home. They seemed to be set up for take out and catering. But they do have seating for about 20-25 people. We ordered: BBQ Pork Combo meal $10.50 Chicken Inasal Combo meal $10.50 both with Garlic - Annatto Rice +$.75 each and we added pork spring rolls $4 The combo meals are tasty and filling. With a slight char on the BBQ pork which is what I enjoy when having skewers. Honestly the garlic- annato rice wasn't really worth it. I personally couldn't taste it over the sauce on either the BBQ pork or the chicken Inasal. And would have been happy with just regular rice. The lumpiang was meaty and everything I look for in a crispy spring roll. The dessert options area also great. Not sure if its seasonal but they had a slice of coconut (buko) pie in their fridge. Whole buko pie need to be per-ordered and picked up on the weekend. They also have leche flan and ube cheesecake for a sweet treat. Over all a great comforting small business with friendly staff and a meal under $12. How can you go wrong? Give Hapag Ihaw-Ihaw a try if you're in the area.

I went here with a friend to try, well not bad actually, the carrying product is Lechong Cebu,a rosted pork. There are only few dishes in the menu, the server claimed they are coming soon. they also do catering service thats what the waitor told us. we wish to have a bulalo its a beef soup but sold out that day, so since we were already here and our cravings for this day is Filipino cuisine we ordered other availble dishes. First one is the pork sisig, it was good,we both dont eat liver so we asked the server to exclude it.oh how i missed home(Philippines) on first bite of the sisig,it was delish, the flavor of the spices, the lemon and the egg while it was smoking hot on a sizzling plate, very good. we ordered appetizer includes 2 Pork bbq, 2 feep fried spring rolls(lumpiang shanghai),and 3 pcs of chicken wings well i would say they were ordinary taste,we also got the beef caldereta,hmmmmm....another ordinary taste.plus we had the garlic rice and hot water with lemon. I am not sure if the dishes were pre-cooked. We havent try the carrying dish which is the lechon Cebu, for sure if we will come back thats the one we will going to order. Very small place, crews are bi-lingual and very friendly, you know friendliness is one of the best trait of Filipinos. They also sell some chicken skin chicharon and ube pandesal. Pricing is just okay, you pay for what you wil get. Theres no TV, but theres music playing while we were there.Wash room is available.(Needs a lot of make over and improvement with the interior design.) Parking is metered one unless you wish to park in some residential area and you will just do some waking...sometimes serious walking because it can be far. Most clients that day came for pick up orders..a lot of them so i feel that this place has a huge potential to bloom. Noise level is average and nothing i can say on the interior design because theres nothing at all, like i said it"s pretty new place. Good for small group and kids friendly.
