I love trying food from different cultures and this was my first time trying Filipino food! Right when I stepped in, I could smell the mouth-watering, slightly smoky scent of BBQ. The interior of Archie's was very cozy and it felt like I was eating at a friend/relative's house. Also, all the other customers were Filipino so I thought it meant that the food was authentic. My friends and I ordered the sisig with garlic rice and egg, adobo, and halo halo. The texture and flavour of the adobo was perfect--it was soft and the meat melts in your mouth without it being too salty. The sisig was served on a hot plate and still sizzling when it was put on the table. I really liked that there were crispy meat parts as well as tender parts and the egg that it came with was perfect when mixed into the garlic rice. I do have to say that the dishes were a bit greasy. We decided on getting the halo halo after seeing other tables ordering it. The serving was pretty big and it was the perfect size to split between three people. I have never tasted anything like halo halo before and it was amazing. I loved the texture of the toppings, the ube ice cream, and the overall sweet, but not too sweet flavour. At the end, the staff at the counter was nice to let my friends and I split the bill with our individual items and 1/3 of the halo halo. A new favorite spot in Surrey when craving Filipino food. First time here and thank God I found this place. Delicious calamari! It probably has something to do with their batter. We stopped by here for a late lunch. Unfortunately, they were out of adobo and halo halo. The two items we were looking forward to trying. We ended up ordering the pancit bihon with chicken and rice ($10) and the spaghetti and spring rolls ($9). I ordered a crispy ($9) to take home for dinner. Service was decent. We received water and menus promptly. We placed our order and food arrived shortly afterwards. The pancit bihon was good. There was noodles that had a good chew mixed in with veggies and pieces of meat. The piece of chicken was fried with a batter but I found the chicken was not as flavourful as I would have liked. There is seasoning and sauces on the side you can add to your food. The spaghetti had a very sweet meat sauce. The spring rolls contained a small amount of meat inside. The garlic bread was alright. Overall, food was alright. Pricing was good for the portion size. There is free street parking. The restaurant accepts credit card payment which is always a plus. read more

Went to Archie's on the weekend and ordered takeout. We ordered their BBQ with rice and Kare Kare (oxtail) with rice. Very friendly and accommodating staff and food was executed well. The inside of the restaurant was very basic, but if you're looking for good Filipino food that is well executed for good value, this is the place to go. Been hearing about this place from our friends for a while now so we finally decided to give it a shot. We weren't disappointed at all! My husband got the spaghetti with spring rolls, my son got the crispy (even though he ended up eating his dad's spring rolls and thoroughly enjoying it), and I got the fried chicken with garlic fried rice and sunny side up egg. My husband definitely enjoyed his spaghetti that also came with some garlic bread, but that's because he said it tastes just like how his friend's mom used to make! My dish was good but unfortunately not great however. My fried chicken was a few seconds too long in the deep frier and had a slight burnt taste but the garlic fried rice definitely made up for it! My son's crispy was good too but he only had a few bites before digging into his dad's spring rolls which all three of us can vouch for! Overall, our first time experience was definitely a great one and the food was delicious and very moderately priced. It's nice to have an authentic Filipino joint close to home so we'll definitely be returning for more! read more

This place serves typically Filipino fares like silogs (garlic rice, sunny side up egg and your choice of protein). I got the tapsilog which is beef. The beef was flavorful. Wish there was more. I also got siomai which was pretty good. Love that they provide sauces and fried garlic in small containers. Will definitely be back to try other items. I am glad that I found Archie's because this place is a little different from other Filipino restaurants as far as plating. They serve individual size plates instead of the large family style kind of plating. Several silog options which I don't really see too many other places offering. I find the pricing for food is very reasonable for the amount you get and quality. I got the opportunity to taste three of their different dishes. The bulalo soup was very good and had a very nice depth of flavor. The crispy pork belly is what it is, a very nice crunchy skin on the pork belly, which is what you would expect. The chicksilog is not your typical fried chicken you would get at other Filipino restaurants. The chicken is boneless and very juicy, with a nicely seasoned crust, and the crust was nice and crunchy as well. They really take the time and effort to build the flavoring in the soup, and season each dish well. I like that the kitchen is open and visible, so you can see the owner cooking your food as you order it so you know everything is fresh. The owners of this place are very friendly and inviting. I felt like I was pretty much getting served a nice home cooked meal. The service was great, they take the time to explain to you what each menu item is if you aren't familiar with this kind of food. Friendly staff and clean place. Two small tables outdoors but most people take it to go. Some street parking on that street and walkable to bus stops. Reasonable prices. The prices look really cheap at first but that's because their portions are very small too. Most of their food are tasty and authentic. Some are just alright but most are worth it. Their Lumpia Shanghai, Mimi, Siomai, and Congee Combo. I wouldn't really suggest their spaghetti or halo-halo (there's much better place for it). Their Bangus is delicious but I wish the skin was much more crispier. The fish meat was good and one side of the fish is crispy (but still could be crispier), head was alright, but the other side of the skin is sticky and a bit gooey. Overall it's a great experience, my partner loves this place especially either congee. I had to order two portion of the siomai because it's good but small. The Lumpia Shanghai's sauce is really good too. Would go back and would definitely recommend! However, they might have changed their hours without changing their online platforms. I've went there twice on Mondays and they are not opened. So just avoid Mondays and you should be good. read more

Food is considerably cheaper compared to other Filipino restaurants in Surrey however the food doesn't just meet the standards of Filipino cuisine. We ordered the tapsilog and crispy pork belly but the beef was bland and the rice was too dry. Filipino food generally uses jasmine rice, not something else. For a newly opened restaurant, the furniture looks kinda rundown especially the chairs. Their menu is also very small, not much of a big deal considering that the restaurant just opened but if the food was actually better then I would've rated this differently.
