Came again shortly after our first visit. They have a good special - 3 pork skewers on rice for 8.50. Pretty good for today's prices. The staff are friendly. Food comes out slow so expect to wait 15-20 min for your meal. When ordering take out, I'm going to call it in so I don't have to wait. This is walking distance from my house so it's convenient if we don't want to cook.

    Cleaned our plates..food was good..

If you like crispy German pork knuckles, you must try the crispy pork knuckle here. The meat is soft, moist, tender. The skin is super crispy. The BBQ pork skewers make me think of those BBQ pork skewer in Thailand. These are the two dishes I had and I recommend them both. Street parking. Will definitely come back to try the pork cheek dish and also have the crispy pork knuckles again.

We found this restaurant by accident. It was amazing. The ambience might be a bit run down. But the food was so good. We had crispy pita which is fired pork hoc. Very crispy and juicy. BBQ sweet was very flavorful. We will definitely come back to try other dishes.

B never had Filipino food before and it just so happens that we were in the area and there is Hapag Ihaw-Ihaw. So why not... I told B that my usual Filipino dish that I always like ordering is the crispy pata. Its my go to and my favorite part of this is the nice crispy skin. We also ordered a side of garlic rice. It was nice touch with our meal. I think next time I will stick with regular rice. The crispy pata was very delicious. It was cooked very different from other Filipino restaurant. The price is slightly cheaper than say if I went to Max. Anyways, they do have combo specials if you are not too hungry or if you want something small. The crispy pata (large) was enough for two of us. We also ordered the ube cheesecake to go and that was OMG. It was so delicious. I highly recommend getting this. Another go to item that I like getting at Filipino restaurants is definitely the Halo Halo. Unfortunately, they don't have ube ice cream in their halo halo so I decided to skip it. I will definitely be back again. Food was very tasty.

Supposedly a Large crispy pata. More like a M or a Small as the plate is not that big -use rice bowl as reference. $26 for this? Really?

Yesterday 11/21/24 (3:00 PM), I walked in to inquire about their popular crispy pata. The courteous and friendly young gal assured me that it is indeed crispy on the outside while moist and juicy on the inside. She also told me that all they had left were SMALL pork legs (S-$22, M-$24, L-$26). The older lady in the back, who I presumed to be the owner, surely overheard the entire conversation as the place is quite small. I told the young gal that I would return in a few hours for dinner. I returned at 5:45 PM and as I was about to place my order, the same young gal said that all they have now are LARGE pork legs. I reminded her about what she told me earlier to be the polar opposite. She had an awkward and uneasy look on her face as she came up with the excuse that all the SMALL ones had sold out. I asked if they had any medium ones left, and she said 'yes' - that she could give me a MEDIUM (??? - the inventory keeps on changing). At this exact moment the older lady (owner) walked by and said that I should go for the LARGE as I get more for my money. The owner also tried to explain away the mystery of the ever changing pork leg inventory by saying that orders and deliveries are fluid and can't be controlled. Hmm....such a drastic change in a matter of 2.5 hours. Really? Sounded very suspicious to me. Clearly I knew at this point that both persons were lying and the young one had been instructed on what to say so they can charge more. To my surprise, the young gal then rang me up for a SMALL crispy pata! Upon realizing her mistake, she asked me for the $4 difference. I paid the additional money but by this time I am aghast by the bumbling orchestration of this complete fiasco. The deception just keeps on unravelling as evidenced by the error of the rattled young gal. This was her obvious Freudian Slip. When my crispy pata arrived it did not look like a LARGE, but more like a MEDIUM. For all I know it could have been their SMALL. It was crispy on the outside and moist enough on the inside. It was good but not great. I would give it a 7.5/10. My dining experience was tainted by the obvious display of dishonesty staged by the owner and her employee. The awkward actions of the young gal, who had 'uneasy and shame' written on her forehead, spoke volumes. Clearly she was coerced into the deception. The integrity of a business should never be put on the line for a few measly dollars.

I live and work near here but never been to this hidden gem. I was disappointed myself! I should have tried it more earlier. My Filipino co-worker and me had Sunday dinner and lucky to have explanation by native. I couldn't choose BBQ chicken or Chicken inasal. We ordered both and decided to share. Honestly I loved both. Very juicy chicken and charcoal grilled outside. But not hard. Just perfect tenderness. They tasted similar but inasal tasted more aromatic, rich, deep flavor. Next time I will try it again. Or add on! Ube cheesecake is good too. But ube flavor was like a hint. Not so strong.

Sisig! I love the way they prepare their sisig here!
    Sam L.

Great Filipino restaurant. Authentic food. Love how they do their sisig dish. Small dining area, they're not large so they won't be able to fit large groups (20+). Their ambiance is ok. It's decent. I don't know what service is like in house because I haven't actually sat in. I've only ordered out. But their service when I call in to order is usually pretty good. The food is usually ready within 10-15 min. So pretty quick. As for pricing. It is a little on the expensive side at about $16-17 without tips and tax. Seems to be the going rate for food these days for most places unfortunately. Parking can be a little hard to find. You can try to park in and around the neighborhood with risk. I would not encourage it. There is free parking farther down the street from the restaurant - maybe about a 7-10 min walk. Not too bad. You can park in front of the restaurant. But there are parking limitations for when you can park there, and if I'm not mistaken. Might be pay parking as well. There's not a lot of spots in front of the restaurant. Maybe 3-4 spots for cars. But if you don't mind paying for parking. There is that option available. Location isn't really close to any transit. So this would be difficult to get to if you're not driving. Closest Skytrain station would be Commercial Drive Station - and that's quite a ways. Looking at probably 20 min to a half hour depending on the time of day and how often the bus is coming. My breakdown: Food 4.75/5 Price 3/5 Ambiance 3.75/5 Service 4/5 Location 3/5 Would recommend this place for Filipino food :)

The last time I tried a Filipino restaurant, Max's on Kingsway, I walked away disappointed and vowed never to eat there again. So, I was a bit weary about trying out this place, which is two blocks from our home. I noticed the Yelp rating was 4 stars, which persuaded me to give Filipino cuisine another try. Glad I did. This tiny, hole-in-the-wall is clean and bright. There might only be enough space for about 16-20 patrons. A banner on the window indicated that it was their 2nd anniversary this week, entitling us to 15% off the bill. Bonus! My wife ordered the BBQ chicken on rice which tasted a lot like Teriyaki chicken. It was served with pickled cucumber which my wife enjoyed. Serving size was adequate, and chicken was well glazed with sauce. Nothing spectacular, but a solid meal. I ordered the deep-fried pork hock which comes in small, medium and large sizes. The small size, at $12, was large enough for the two of us. The skin was crispy on the outside, the meat was tender in the center and the surface meat was crunchy and savory. The serving size was generous which made me wonder how much bigger the large serving would have been. Best of all, they provided a vinegar/soy sauce dip which was absolutely tangy and made the pork meat really pop in my mouth. I would have liked to try the soups and noodles, but we were quite full after our meal. We'll have to come back to sample some other items from the menu. Our bill came to $18 with the 15% discount. I would have been happy paying full price so I left a nice tip.

Really not sure what to expect from Filipino BBQ, but was pleasant surprised. Parking is available on the side streets. The inside is more like a cafe or someone's dining room than a restaurant, but is clean and quiet. Very homely. Staff are very friendly. They had a sisig special the day we went - something about sizzling pig brain and snout. Unfortunately my friends weren't adventurous enough to try. Most of the dishes are easily shared, but some of them seem like they were more geared towards individual portions. Something to keep in mind. Lumpia Shanghai - shrimp and pork spring rolls. Nice and thin. Served with sweet chili dipping sauce. Lumpiang gulay - vegetarian spring rolls. Also very tasty. Miki pansit - pork and shrimp vermicelli. A bit difficult to serve as everything clumped together. Taste was mediocre, but maybe it's because I'm used to the Chinese-style vermicelli. Filipino - BBQ - 3 skewers with rice. Quite good, though this one is a bit difficult to share. Pork bones sinigang (soup) - nice and thin broth. Pork bones are nice and big. Crispy pata (pork hock) - special mention. They deep fry the crap out of this thing. It's a bit heavy on the bones, but when eaten fresh, this dish is truly beautiful. The tangy sauce enhances the flavour more. As an added bonus, one gets a quick anatomy lesson on a certain pig appendage. Our bill was about $80 feeding 6 people. Not bad at all! The only downside to this place? It closes early, even on Fridays (2030). Not a complaint, but something to keep in mind. Go early. Will definitely be back. Recommended.

I'm finally glad I got to check this place out. Thank you, Yelp! In my opinion, the food is alright. To be fair, I might be a bit biased since I eat Filipino food on the daily. We had a reservation for 14 people and took up one whole side of the restaurant. Our server gave us menus and waters right away. There was another party of 7 that came in shortly after us, so our since there was only one server, he got pretty busy very quickly. I ordered the lumpia shanghai (pork spring rolls w/ sweet chilli sauce), lumpia gulay (vegetable spring rolls), pork ears + pork stomach skewers for the table. Both lumpia shanghai and lumpia gulay were perfectly rolled and yummy (my favourites). For my entree, I got the pork BBQ skewers combo with sinigang (sour soup broth), and that was just like a home cooked meal -- delicious. I think the server could've used an extra pair of hands because he looked a little panicked half the time, but he was very kind and still remained positive even though he was busy. I'd love to come back and try their ube cheesecake. It looked delicious! I'd definitely come back if I was in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Lumpiang - satisfactory but really, just ok

Oh my!! Should have come here earlier. My Filipino visitors from Seattle insisted I bring them here as their friends in Seattle highly recommended this rather nondescript eatery - and it was such a great recommendation. I really don't know much about Filipino food but my Filipino host does and ordered the Sisig which they proclaimed as being excellent - both in taste as well as the required texture and crunchiness. Of course also ordered the large crispy Pata which was ever so good - freshly made, super crunchy skin and just the right flavoured meat. Have had too many hard, chewy not-really-crispy pata skin on pork that's like salty jerky that I really enjoyed this perfectly cooked pride of Filipino food! The Lumpiang was nothing special but the skewers were smoky goodness and I wish we had saved some room for dessert - which looked so tempting but we just couldn't manage it. Too bad as I'm sure they're gonna be as good as the meal we had. Recommend Hapag if you want a good intro to Filipino food! You won't go wrong here. And oh, didn't take more pictures as we resorted to eating with our fingers - as befit eating Filipino food - and couldn't much use my phone!

New Filipino gig in lower mainland, small place approximately houses 15 heads the whole eatery…read more Mostly Filipino customers lining up. I went here with a friend to try, well not bad actually, the carrying product is Lechong Cebu,a rosted pork. There are only few dishes in the menu, the server claimed they are coming soon. they also do catering service thats what the waitor told us. we wish to have a bulalo its a beef soup but sold out that day, so since we were already here and our cravings for this day is Filipino cuisine we ordered other availble dishes. First one is the pork sisig, it was good,we both dont eat liver so we asked the server to exclude it.oh how i missed home(Philippines) on first bite of the sisig,it was delish, the flavor of the spices, the lemon and the egg while it was smoking hot on a sizzling plate, very good. we ordered appetizer includes 2 Pork bbq, 2 feep fried spring rolls(lumpiang shanghai),and 3 pcs of chicken wings well i would say they were ordinary taste,we also got the beef caldereta,hmmmmm....another ordinary taste.plus we had the garlic rice and hot water with lemon. I am not sure if the dishes were pre-cooked. We havent try the carrying dish which is the lechon Cebu, for sure if we will come back thats the one we will going to order. Very small place, crews are bi-lingual and very friendly, you know friendliness is one of the best trait of Filipinos. They also sell some chicken skin chicharon and ube pandesal. Pricing is just okay, you pay for what you wil get. Theres no TV, but theres music playing while we were there.Wash room is available.(Needs a lot of make over and improvement with the interior design.) If am not mistaken this place is a bubble tea gig before,As per friends news it was sold. Wifi now is all over the city so i dont think that would be an issue. Parking is metered one unless you wish to park in some residential area and you will just do some waking...sometimes serious walking because it can be far. Most clients that day came for pick up orders..a lot of them so i feel that this place has a huge potential to bloom. Noise level is average and nothing i can say on the interior design because theres nothing at all, like i said it"s pretty new place. Good for small group and kids friendly.
