It is obviously an upgrade from their previous location just due to the amount of people that were inside. But, that is also the problem. It was loud. Deafening loud. I literally could not hear my own thoughts. The waitress had to basically scream to help us. The decorations are fun but they need to put glass partitions or something on the walls. We were even sat by the window and it was unbearable. The food was good but there were some issues. The clam chowder tasted like it was thickened with flour. There was a grittiness to it that couldn't be ignored. The RJ special was good but there is no way that was "double meat." It was good size but there was one slice of each meat, so I'm not sure how that could be double. Minor critique, but the pickle spear served with it was wilty and mushy. The menu is very limited. It's basically sandwiches. Their pasta are literally noodles and sauce. You can add chicken/shrimp but not a single dish has any vegetables in it. It's basic Italian food for people who like basic stuff, but be prepared to yell if you want to have a conversation

Pinocchio's is a delicious Italian restaurant, this is the first time I have been into their new location - we took a group from work and introduced our new boss to another local restaurant. And he will be back for sure. We were celebrating a few promotions and ordered a variety of different foods including their Monthly special Mac N Cheese, Cricket, Mikey's, Fettuccini Alfredo with chicken, & the McLean sandwich. Everything was delicious and my boss has decided he would like to make this a more frequent spot for our business lunches. Our server Cat was very on top of things, she ensured that our drinks were never empty, and that we had extra napkins before our meals came out. The new restaurant has a large dining room and so many amazing Pinocchio themed decorations lining the walls along with old photos and drawings of the area. Even at 1pm the restaurant was packed and we had a short wait for our table of 7 to be seated.

Brought a family friend here for a birthday dinner and there were four of us total. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the Pesto Pasta with chicken. I liked it but it needed some oomph to it. I kept having to add parmesan and salt. I tried the lasagna, and it was good. My wife and her friend had the Pasta Bolognese. They really enjoyed their food. They brought out the birthday girl a tiramisu that was on the house. Really nice touch. Place is clean and the air conditioner works great.

Their *Cheese Tortellini* with Alfredo and added chicken. Perfection!!! Every entree else comes with a piece of garlic bread.

Everytime I am up here I have been stopping by to get their pasta for years! My mom says they also have delicious sandwiches but I have yet to try those as my go to is the PASTA. Hits everytime. When I pick up an order the girl at the front helping me is an absolute sweetheart the staff are all so very nice, I'm assuming it's family owned? The vibe is cute there are a bunch of little adorable Pinocchio statues in the front while you're waiting on a table or an order to go and it's pretty busy for the most part. If you like Italian THIS place is the spot!!!

100/10 perfection. We bought a place in Sonora almost a year ago and ever since we've always talked about going to pinocchios! Today we finally stopped in. SO GOOD. The minestrone was amazing. I got a cup but I definitely would get a bowl next time! Their Chardonnay is local and so good. The bolognese pasta was perfect for my super picky husband. And my Mcclean sandwich was HUGE and tasty!!! I took more than half of it home so that's how you know the portions here are MORE than generous. Our sever darrien (I think that was her name according to the receipt) was very welcoming friendly and all the good things! And her eyebrows and makeup are on point too :) we loved our time here, we will be back soon! Thank you guys !!

After spending a half the day at Columbia State Historical Park, I was looking for something good to eat before getting on our hour plus drive home. I found Pinocchio's and I'm glad I did. Located in the Sonora Plaza Shopping Center on Mono Way, Pinnochio's is a cozy little Italian cafe that's decorated with anything and everything Pinocchio. From vintage posters and photos to figurines, it's here. There were a ton of sandwiches on the menu that I wanted to try. Italian beef, Capicola, Pesto Chicken, and all kinds of salami. My craving was for Meatball with Bolognese. I started with a split pea soup, which was a nice hot and tasty starter. When the meatball sandwich arrived, it was cut into quarters. There was so much, it looked like I had TWO sandwiches! Awesome. Oh yeah, almost every sandwich here seems to have mozzarella on it. So you can imagine the cheese pull I got out of each bite of my sandwich. I was stretching that cheese out for days. It was steaming hot and had a delightful crispiness to the outside of the bread. A hidden gem of a place. My mom, son and I decided to get out of the house and take a ride to Sonora this day. We got hungry and had another place in mind but they were closed that day. We got on Google to look for places nearby to eat. We saw Pinocchio's, I at first thought hmmm, sounds like a kids place to eat. We looked at the pictures of the food..... Ummm, this place looks like they have some amazing food. We headed there, got inside and saw the place was packed and people waited to be seated. Ok, this looks promising.... We only waited around 15 minutes tops with 3 other families waiting before us. We got seated by fantastic staff, that were very pleasant and accommodating. The menu was full of fantastic choices. We ordered our food and shortly after it came out and the portions were very pleasant and the presentation was delightful. Mom had spaghetti Bolognese, son had ravioli, I had chicken fettuccine Alfredo. It comes with garlic bread as well. I can't say enough about how delicious the food was. Everything was prepared to perfection and was so incredibly delicious. The service was fantastic, drinks topped off at all times, asked if we needed anything else, checking in to see if we needed anything else. After dinner my son and I decided to have some espresso gelato. That was very good as well. I was very impressed with Pinocchio's and I highly recommend it. You will not regret it. Wish I had some pictures to share. Unfortunately we ate before I thought about taking pics. Hope you enjoy as much as we all enjoyed this place. read more

I was in the area and was checking around for sandwich shops, and this place seem to have really good ratings. The sandwich was OK, but just OK. I had high expectations which was my downfall and after paying $14 for a sandwich I expected a little bit more. The place is a nice place with its Italian decor and look to be very clean. I think a 20 minute wait for just a plain ham sandwich and the $14 keep me from coming back here. read more

We had a fantastic sandwich lunch! Found it on Yelp as we were traveling through Jamestown. The 4.5 stars did not disappoint. The service was excellent! Very friendly and efficient. One table with customers when we entered and by the time we finished every table was full. Locals enjoying a Saturday lunch! We would have loved to try a pizza or pasta lunch. Or the Sicilian meatball soup! The minestrone soup was excellent too! Eat here if you're in the area. A wonderful local restaurant. It a great find! Very clean which is important to us. read more

Service is attentive. I was not overly excited about the food. It's very Americanized Italian food. Has a good flavor, just average to my liking. The decor is very attractive and while waiting for my order I was kept entertained by the other customers, the restaurant is very family oriented. History

Established in 1939.

Pinocchio's started its life in Los Angeles as a fish market begun by my great grandparents. It transformed into an Italian deli and in 1959 under ownership of my grandparents the first sitdown restaurant was born. They added a couple more stores over the years then relocated to Sonora in 1975. My parents opened a restaurant in the early 80s in Merced. At that time we had 3 or 4 restaurants. Today, we have been in the Sonora Plaza since 1997 and have the fourth generation of the family running the restaurant. We specialize in quality Italian food, homemade sauces, and oven baked sandwiches. We offer a variety of fresh salads as well and don't forget to save room for gelato or our mini cannoli! We hope to see you soon!

For each catered order, I selected the 6" (regular) lunchbox option. The meal came with a sandwich, chips, and a drink. The sandwiches were typically customized with sourdough bread, mayonnaise, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, with meat options of either Ham, Salami, Turkey, and/or Veggie. The assortment of chips was by Miss Vickie's and the options for the bottled drinks were water bottles, sweet/unsweetened teas, diet soda, regular soda, etc. Each lunchbox was crafted and prepared to perfection. The sandwiches were extremely good, as the ingredients were delicious and fresh. For the April & May orders (group meetings of 10 people each), the pickup time was completed on time as anticipated. Unfortunately for the recent June order (group meeting of 27 people), I requested the pick up time @10:45AM. I had to wait an additional 35 minutes for it to be ready. This result caused me to arrive at my business meeting much later than anticipated. It was almost a good thing that I put 10:45am, because had I put a later time, I could have been super late. To me, perhaps this location doesn't have the capacity to make big orders scheduled on time. I will consider coming back for catered orders for a group of 10 or less. Anything over that, I will find another restaurant that will provide larger orders on time for pickup.

My friend had a milkshake and he stated that it was one of the best that he has had in a long time. The sandwhiches are incredible especiaslly the turkey cranberry one of my favorites. They have an entire indoor room that you can host a large party in and the staff were coureteous and helpful. I am going to make my way back here even though I am lactose intolerant and others may suffer with my decision to eat their ice cream but I say: "So be it!" Indigeny Reserve

We settled into our Airbnb cabin in Sonora, only to discover there was nothing to explore…read morenearby--just someone's backyard with no trails or points of interest. Fortunately, we remembered passing a sign for Indigeny Reserve and saw on the map that it was within walking distance. Since it was already after 3pm and they closed at 5pm, we decided to drive over and make the most of our afternoon before they closed. When we walked in, the building was empty, but we were eager to try a cider tasting. Browsing the shop, we found a variety of merchandise--shirts, hats, sweaters, and an assortment of cheeses, crackers, chips, and other tasty treats. Eventually, a friendly staff member greeted us and offered the $10 tasting. Since closing time was approaching, she joked about giving us paper cups to avoid running the dishwasher. We didn't mind, but she kindly served the cider in glasses, which made the experience nicer. She also offered a whiskey tasting in a cool room lined with barrels and tables, plus gift boxes and other products. The whiskey tasting was just $2, with three varieties to sample. I'm not much of a whiskey fan, but I appreciated that she wasn't rushing us out. Both of us loved the Blackberry cider, so we each ordered a glass to enjoy outside. The outdoor area is expansive, with wooden benches, tables, and lawn chairs scattered across a grassy lawn overlooking a large vineyard. Only a few couples and families lingered--likely because of the early closing time. After relaxing with our ciders, we wandered down the trail to the lake. Along the way, we discovered old barns, a whimsical gnome area, and several upside-down boats tied up near the shore. If the boats hadn't been secured, we joked about taking one out for a row on the lake! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Indigeny Reserve and, in retrospect, wished we had brought the teens along. Still, it made for a wonderful little date.

It was hard to just grab those are NOT a cupcake but you know, we had to do what we had to do!!! After all this is the best bakery in town! Vonnie is always working and such an amazing baker because not only does she do her own DELICIOUS creations but she does these intricate decedent wedding cakes and I'm just in awe at her artistry skills and the fact she basically runs this bakery! She is so very talented and you won't find better than her, she's amazing and the SWEETEST! The Ambiance since we usually pick up is very nice and air conditioned and smells AMAZING. I grew up in Sonora but have since moved to Modesto. My family still lives there though and every time I come into town we make a point to eat here. The lady who originally started this restaurant was one of the kindest ladies I ever met and her food was always delicious! She has passed away and now her grandson owns it. We recently visited and we love what he's done with the place! They have new decor and a fabulous new menu. Don't worry though, he kept all of his grandmothers original dishes. The service is always great and the staff is always polite, prompt, and courteous. And well....the food speaks for itself! Will always love Pinocchio's and we look forward to our next trip there :) Oh and try the new Italian sodas there! I ordered vanilla and it was heavenly! read more

This is my must eat place in Sonora! The food is ALWAYS great! Their menu is so good and such a great variety of Italian foods. Because of that, I almost never eat the same thing. That's not something I can say for many restaurants that I eat at. I do have my favorites though. Their oven baked sandwiches are always fresh, hot, and extremely tasty. My husband loves the Pinocchio's Special and the Jiminy Cricket. The meatball is to die for and would have to be my favorite sandwich there. I love the red sauce lasagna, cheese tortellini, and ravioli as well. It is just too hard to pick a favorite!! For dessert we both love their cannoli. So fresh and so good! Drizzled with chocolate. We had the best experience ever at Pinocchio's! We found this gem on Yelp, and it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely amazing--the chicken Alfredo is a must-try, with its perfect blend of creamy sauce and tender chicken. The service was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff who made us feel right at home. Speaking of home, the ambiance was cozy and inviting, almost like being in someone's living room. We loved all the decor--Pinocchio figures, little toys on the walls, and pictures everywhere. The Italian mob vibe added a playful and fun twist to the whole experience. I hadn't been in years. It used to be at another location and when the matriarch passed, it faltered. Decided to give it a try after more than a decade... Though only open for lunch, it's still as awesome. Love the meatballs, love the sauces. Haven't tried anything else because the above is sooo... Good. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Sonora. I send everyone I know to try the yummy Italian food here. My favorite day to go in is Thursdays for the Sicilian Sausage soup.
