Pinocchio's - Cranberry Chicken Salad was excellent - Italian Near Me - Sonora, California

A hidden gem of a place. My mom, son and I decided to get out of the house and take a ride to Sonora this day. We got hungry and had another place in mind but they were closed that day. We got on Google to look for places nearby to eat. We saw Pinocchio's, I at first thought hmmm, sounds like a kids place to eat. We looked at the pictures of the food..... Ummm, this place looks like they have some amazing food. We headed there, got inside and saw the place was packed and people waited to be seated. Ok, this looks promising.... We only waited around 15 minutes tops with 3 other families waiting before us. We got seated by fantastic staff, that were very pleasant and accommodating. The menu was full of fantastic choices. We ordered our food and shortly after it came out and the portions were very pleasant and the presentation was delightful. Mom had spaghetti Bolognese, son had ravioli, I had chicken fettuccine Alfredo. It comes with garlic bread as well. I can't say enough about how delicious the food was. Everything was prepared to perfection and was so incredibly delicious. The service was fantastic, drinks topped off at all times, asked if we needed anything else, checking in to see if we needed anything else. After dinner my son and I decided to have some espresso gelato. That was very good as well. I was very impressed with Pinocchio's and I highly recommend it. You will not regret it. Wish I had some pictures to share. Unfortunately we ate before I thought about taking pics. Hope you enjoy as much as we all enjoyed this place. read more

Awesome as always. I've been coming back for this since the late 80's. The pictures don't do it justice, you absolutely have got to give this a try. With peppers and onions is the best! read more

Everything about this restaurant is superb! Cleanliness, customer service, food and fresh food comes out quickly. A hot spot in Sonora for sure! The best meatball sandwich ever. Although, everything on the menu is dynamite. You're missing out if you haven't eaten here yet. read more

The pasta was so bland. ..I've tried eating here several times, but it's always the same. I can't figure out why so many people like this tasteless "italian" food that's not cheap! Stick to their sandwiches, they're decent. read more

Capisco che non siamo in Italia, ma "real Italian food" è lontano da la realtà. Incominciamo: - menu ha degli errori ortografici. - il sugo.. uno schiaffo!! - la pasta.. da vomitare - il gelato, il peccato!! read more

Great service and even better food! One of a kind restaurant here in Sonora! The owner, Ricky, really knows how to run a great business!

Small space slow service overpriced menu no music too crowded. Menus were a laugh tho

Found it on Yelp. Would love if they were in Missouri. Great little place, great food, great service...only wish they were closer not a fan of CA. read more

Also from the bay area and after reading the other guys review thought we'd try them. Overall, way overcooked, way salty and way overspiced spiced foods. We tried lasagne, meatballs, Rossa sammy and a side of chicken. Wouldn't recommend. Try another place. Sorry pinocchio, y'all need to have your cooks realize how much salt and spice and temperature they are using. Lastly, good to know, the sauce is a very sharp and zesty rather than something sweet. read more

The food was really good. We each ordered a soup. The minestrone (my husband) looked wonderful and the sausage soup (myself) was fantastic. Thick and rich with great flavors. We went a second night and I ordered the Bolognese with shells and my husband a salad. Wonderful. When we come back to the area we will head there for dinner. The only thing missing was some type of Italian music! Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Italian strolling type music. Otherwise, all great. read more

I thought they had pizza but I guess too much competition in town. We had Calzones and they were pretty good. Good service. We'll prolly give it another go. read more

This place is magical. No, not because of their name, well maybe a little, but their subs and sandos are really tasty. Pinocchio is the family last name and they're 4th generation family owned. They have different deli meats and ingredients and will happily help you with any questions you may have. They have a cold deli and also a menu with toasted sammies. Their #1 sandwich is the cricket, which may or may not be named after someone's conscious. I tried it and now I'm hooked. As a matter of fact I'm typing this while I wait for my second sandwich in two days. I ask for extra pepperonis and slightly sautéed onions on it, freakin' makin' me give a little whistle. Sorry I had to! They serve gelato too. It's a small selection but craft fully made by another family owned business. Family owned. Italian subs and sandwiches and pasta etc. It's in beautiful Sonora, CA. The place is decorated by you know who and believe me there is old school memorabilia here. The owner was very nice and gentle with my kids and that kind of service means a lot to my wife and I. Eat here! Thanks for reading! read more

The owners take pride in their restaurant and are ALWAYS present and working their butts off. They truly know what it takes to run a successful restaurant year after year. Place was really cute inside, exactly what you think to expect for something named Pinocchios. Our waitress Tammy was so friendly & nice. Food was tasty. Family recommend read more

The food was fresh, homemade and delicious! My husband loved the ravioli's. Just like momma makes!! The Ambiance is nice. A lot of Pinocchio paraphernalia for the kids to enjoy:-) WOULD HAVE GIVEN 5 stars but.....Be careful of the waiting area! The bench seats DO NOT connect in an L shape. There is a space where I fell in! So be careful! Also know the difference between the Daily Specials and the Specials on the menu. Cause if you get it wrong the waitress will make you feel like it can't be fixed and than punish you by letting your food sit up on the counter until everyone else is done with their food. We will be coming back in hopes the waitress was just having a bad day because the food was amazing!!! read more

Got take-out 2 sandwiches: A small McLean (to share) and a small Pinnochio; as well as a lasagna. My parents shared the Mclean and both of them rated it high marks (one said: could not taste the bacon jam, per se - but the overall flavor of the sandwich was outstanding. My partner had the Pinocchio, and said it was the best Italian meat sandwich he'd had in a very long time. I had the lasagna. It was a large portion, with plenty of sauce - so it was luscious and well-sauced on the leftover half. read more

Been here 31 years and I just started going to Pinocchio's in 2020 when they were offering pickup service and I could not believe the flavor, texture and also the large portions that they give you. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in Sonora. If I can rate it 100 I would! read more

So delicious Alfredo ! Very kind staff ! Been going here years !! Also the minestrone soup is amazing

Amazing sandwiches. Seating is limited so big parties are hard. I have also used them for catering and was very pleased!
