Came here on a Tuesday, on a day off from working a local wildfire, looking to try out the pups as, but my crew and I were not aware that pupusas are served only on Thur-Sat. We thanked them for their time and decided tk go elsewhere for lunch. As we were walking away down the sidewalk, one of the workers (maybe owner?) came outside and stopped us to tell us she went to the kitchen to check if she has enough ingredients to make us a few, if we still wanted some. Of course we did! She went out of her way to serve us and they did not disappoint. They were very delicious. She unfortunately didn't have ingredients for the cabbage side, but that's okay, we were very grateful for what she did. We will be back for sure. read more

While the chicken and humitas empanadas were delicious, and the Americanos were fresh and strong, it was not worth the price. It was ridiculous to charge $2 for a tiny plastic container of chimichurri, which is complimentary in most Argentinian restaurants. The side of fruit consisted of a few thin orange slices (commonly used as garnish elsewhere) and a half dozen strawberry quarters. That was cheap. read more

Absolute gem of a coffee shop/cafe with delicious eats. Our fam of 7 found the Goodness Cafe just by chance...we needed a quick bite on our way home to the Bay Area after an enjoyable wknd at Pinecrest Lake. I ordered the breakfast burrito w/ an oat Mocha, and I kid you not it was the best meal I've had in quite some time, 11/10. My wife tried the empanadas, mother in law a breakfast bagel, and kids a variety of food from the avo toast to a ham sandwich, all of which they scarfed down with big smiles. Adriana (host/barista) was kind, pleasant, and greeted us...and the cafe had an incredibly warm, quaint vibe with mellow tunes and the perfect weekday ambiance. No joke, this place is amazing. Loved our quick lunch here driving through Sonora. My husband had a cubano sandwich and I had the avocado toast- both were delicious! The Americanos were strong and smooth. The perfect road trip pit stop. I was browsing options online while we were approaching and I was intrigued by the empanadas offered here that distinguished it from other cafes. The empanadas were much larger than I thought - bigger than my hand! So two of them was a bit too much to eat, while one would be a light meal. I got one with a tomato basil cheese filling and one with an onion and chard filling - so different but each delicious! Washed down with an ice cold glass of jasmine green tea to beat the heat. My friends reported that the chicken sandwich had the freshest chicken breast they've ever had - cooked to order by the friendliest cook! Logistics: - indoor and outdoor seating, but it's tight so get friendly in the neighborhood cafe - parking next door in the little lot and down the slope. Goodness Cafe is a quaint little spot just a few short blocks outside of the main downtown shopping area. It's worth the walk up the hill and pay them a visit. It's a family run business that serves up fresh sandwiches, lattes, specialty empanadas, salads and more! I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch a decided on the avocado toast and an iced lavender latte. It was the perfect little spot for a relaxing meal, especially as I was traveling solo that day. I felt immediately welcomed and relaxed in their space. The avocado toast was amazing-nicely seasoned and topped with an egg cooked to perfection. The latte wasn't overly sweet but had the lavender flavor stand out. Wonderful place for a coffee or light meal. Highly recommend stopping in and enjoying all the "goodness" of Goodness Cafe! read more

We visit Sonora often to walk and window shop, catch some of the local hiking trails, and find a bite to eat while there. Usually find a spot where we can share a meal. We always have our pup in tow so a dog friendly place is a must. We were blown away by the food, we tried three of these empanadas, and two pupusas to share. The food was excellent, the empanada dough was extremely soft, buttery and flaky. The cheese perfectly melted in both the empanada and te pupusa. The chimichurri sauce was perfect glarlic and parsley blend, they can easily bottle that up and sell it. We sat in their back patio away from the street noise, we arrived mid afternoon so it was not too busy just a couple other patrons. We will have to make it a point to to stop by again and try one of their sandwiches, the wait staff is so attentive and made suggestions, next time we will try their cubano sandwich. read more

So good, we ate here twice in a row! I've been wanting to visit Goodness Cafe for a while and I'm really glad we finally had the time. My boyfriend and I went here for lunch on a Thursday afternoon and it was busy, but everyone was really nice and took our order quickly. It seems like they have a handful of regulars, which is always a good sign. The cafe is small with limited seating. Regardless of the space, we were able to find a table to enjoy our meals and all the tables were clean. We ordered their Italiano sandwich, mushroom empanada, and an iced latte during our first visit. The sandwich was delicious and PACKED with meat. The empanada was, hands down, the best empanada I've had. The pastry was flaky and delicious, not heavy or dry. The food was so good that I wanted to come back to try their pupusas, which is exactly what we did. We came back the following morning and ordered their pork and cheese and bean and cheese pupusas. I was not disappointed. Goodness Cafe is a gem and ran by wonderful people. Keep in mind that food is made to order and you may need to wait longer for your food, but it's worth the wait. read more

This is a must visit next time you're in Sonora!! The coffee is from El Salvador and absolutely incredible! They have six or seven different kinds of empanadas. The two we tried were over-the-top delicious. My friend couldn't decide between a bagel or a breakfast burrito and the owner offered him the best of both worlds and made him a bagel sandwich completely off menu. M y husband had the breakfast burrito, which was unlike any he ever had. It was filled with scrambled eggs and cheese and bacon wrapped in a tortilla and pressed in an iron like a sandwich. Come and support a family ran cafe! Service was very personal. I did not have a coffee bc it was mid day for me but it smelled and looked great. This family owned shop is well worth going a few yards further down Washington Street. The staff are super friendly and accommodating, the shop is super cute, and the menu has a great variety of sandwiches, salads, empanadas, and yummy baked goods. I always get the grilled cheese sandwich -- it's always so yummy! My son tried the championes empanadas, and we split the pasta salad. Everything was awesome.
