I took my boyfriend with me this time to get an ionic foot soak. I was explaining to him how it was explained to.me before the first time I went. And told him about the things that would be pulled out of our bodies. It has been about a year since my last soak, but I really enjoy it. My boyfriend was very interested in the history and how it works. He was very happy with the service and how he felt after. He said he could feel the bottoms of his feet again. The space is conveniently located in downtown Sonora, close to parking and is beautifully decorated with a wide variety of loose leaf tea. I opted in for the seasonal Hibiscus tea and my boyfriend tried the coconut creme, both were excellent. Amala is beautiful, calming, quiet, tranquil, clean and well-maintained, the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. We plan on coming back again soon and try the Magnesium Soak. First time ever doing the foot soak/detox. Lots of interesting colors in the water. Was a fun relaxing experience. Cool ambiance, lots of fun gift options. Cool rustic vibe. Looks like the owners spent some time building it. I didn't get to try the teas or the sauna. Look forward to going back. My daughter and I had a lovely time. I pre-booked online an aromatherapy magnesium soak for each of us. When we arrived, the owner and another nice woman helped us pick out our tea blends. My daughter chose the "sleep" with a nice peppermint fragrance, and I chose "happy," both of which we really liked. We just went here for a girls petite retreat and it was FABULOUS! We had Kate & Liz do a soothing foot bath soak with A sugar scrub along with sipping a delicious Iced Tea with Honey! We left refreshed and rejuvenated to go shopping in the local quaint downtown and eventually stopped to have a delightful lunch! I'm soooo coming back for a scalp massage and another refreshing Tea! As a tea lover, who would have known I would have found one right here in Sonora! As you enter the doors, a calming aura falls on you. Everything is open, bright, and clean. They have a large selection of delicious, unique, and flavorful teas for you to choose from. The workers are super friendly and will answer any questions that you may have. I've tried the ionic footbath, and while the science of it is a little shaky, it is still a interesting and fun activity that left me really relaxed. Next time I will come back and try the sauna! A foot soak is $35 which is very reasonable. Use of the sauna is $1 a minute. Teas are a steal at $3.25. The attention to detail here is insane. Even the paper hand towels in the bathroom was so thick I thought it was linen. For the quality that this place offers, the price is right. Give Amala a try! read more

What a hidden gem! I stopped in because I wanted some tea heading out of town back to the Bay Area. What I didn't expect and was pleasantly surprised to find was their foot spa and sauna services. My hubby and I decided to "take the plunge". So glad we did!!! Their tea selection is thoughtful and geared towards healing and balance. The decor is clean but warm and inviting. The foot soak was right on in terms of the impurities it was pulling out of my system. And the ionic sauna was such a treat! I feel like I had an awesome workout session. My husband and I stayed in Sonora a few weeks ago, found this place on Yelp and immediately decided this should be our first activity. We did the foot detox and it was so interesting to see. I noticed that I even felt better the next day. Very kind and friendly staff! Delicious tea with a ton of choices. We loved that they didn't require masks (they did wear them as staff, but did not say anything about anyone walking in without one, so we eventually removed ours. Most shops in downtown Sonora won't say anything if you choose not to wear one! We are not California people but we definitely want to visit Sonora (especially downtown shops) again!! read more
