It was our first time here as we decided to try a new place! Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse is one of Tucson's classic restaurants and has been part of the Trail Dust Town experience for decades. Trail Dust Town itself was built in the early 1960s as an Old West-themed attraction, and I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere. The atmosphere is definitely part of the experience! I loved the western attire, the fun tradition of cutting off neckties, and the overall cowboy theme. Even if you're not eating at the restaurant, Trail Dust Town is worth visiting. You can stroll through the little western town, browse the shops, and even watch the Wild West stunt show nearby. The ties that are cutoff are even dated and hung as decorations above the tables ! Service was quick, and the staff was friendly throughout our visit. We ordered the Cowboy Steak and the Ribeye, both served with beans, bread, and butter. The mesquite grill gives the steaks a really nice smoky flavor, which is what Pinnacle Peak is known for. I did feel the steaks could have used a bit more seasoning, but the mesquite flavor still came through well. The peach cobbler is a MUST have. Not overly sweet and absolutely delicious! Overall, I'd recommend coming for the unique Tucson experience just as much as the food. It's one of those local places that's fun to bring visitors to and makes for a memorable evening. read more

So many reviews for this spot but it's not that good. Got the steak and was a bit scared too was it cause wasn't sure if it was cooked the way I wanted it. My cousin didn't like her ribs. They are not fall off the bones. It was hard. We started with the sampler. Didn't like the tortilla chips and the salsa could have been better. They give you one quesadilla that looks like u can make at home. The Mac and cheese tasted like it's from the box. The salad and mash potatoes kinda tasted like old country buffets (ranch and gravy). The good: We were seated quick, the service was fast, food came out quick (almost too quick, as we were still not finished with the salads when entrees came out). The "meh": The food and service wasn't worth the price. The thick slices of white bread were dry and unappetizing and served without any bread plates for you to place the bread upon, which forced the awkward decision to set either the bread on a napkin or directly on the tablecloth, or just eat the whole thing right then. The beans were bland and unexciting, served without any side bowls or cups ahead of our entrees, so we had to use our entree plates when they arrived (the beans went largely uneaten; no one went for extra). The ribs were disappointingly overcooked and dry. Burgers were served without any condiments, and when you ask for condiments, they arrive in small, portioned plastic ramekins instead of just bringing out a bottle of ketchup or mustard, which feels cheap overall for what you're paying. Drinks were never offered refills. Server made the table feel rushed to eat, as we were asked if they could start clearing plates while majority of guests were still eating. No manager approached the table to ask how the meal was going or if there was anything that was needed; something I often see in restaurants that pride themselves in service and quality. Overall, the visit was a waste of money, in my opinion. Overpriced, mediocre food and lack-luster customer service. With pinnacle Peak, it's really hard to go wrong. This place has been around for many many years and hasn't really changed in the course of the time. If you're looking for a good T-bone steak, this is the place to come. They do have other great items on the menu such as barbecued ribs and slow roasted brisket. One of the great things that we really enjoy about pinnacle peak as well as their T-bones is their ranch dressing. It is by far the best homemade buttermilk ranch dressing. We even get some to take home. A few things that I think needs sort of improved around pinnacle peak on the outside is having more venues opened up for the customers maybe a few more western attractions such is old-fashioned shaves maybe have somebody walking around taking your measurements to make your own coffin like the old old takers did just in fun. read more

Fun restaurant located inside Trail Dust Town. They use a Mesquite Grill and the flavor comes through. We started with the rattlesnake bites which were nice. Our mains were really good. I ordered the smallest steak and it was still large. If you come wearing a tie they will cut it off of you and hang it from the ceiling. Tucson classic doing what they do best Mesquite grilled steaks. Our family's dinner for Father's Day went off without a hitch. We arrived at 4:30 since they don't accept reservations for small parties. There was a line around part of the front of the building but the line went quickly. We were able to secure a table. Our server was excellent. Our food cooked to as ordered and all items were fresh and tasty! We haven't been here for many many years, and I was so happy to see the ties hanging from the ceiling. This is a pretty unique steak house. A lot of cool older stuff inside and outside the restaurant. A remake of old western living on the outside definitely makes it good. Their big thing is cutting off the ties of anyone who wears them there. I had the cowboy steak, beans and Mac n Cheese. The steak was great. Beans were great. Mac n Cheese was pretty bland and definitely not worth the 5 dollars they charge for a simple side dish. Prices were a little high, but normal considering all the stuff they have going on around there. Service was pretty good. The concept of this place was cool! It's located in an old cowboy town so plenty of shopping and browsing for before and after your meal. The restaurant itself was themed in old western country also and included its own saloon with swinging doors. They have a tradition where they cut your neck tie and hang it up which is cool! Today I came to pinnacle peak. The food was pretty good but the mushrooms were very over salted. Every thing else was good the steak was perfectly cooked. Our server was very nice she also, brought every thing we needed right away. Also, she came very often to check on us. The food was okay except for the bread being stale. It's odd that they don't provide bread plates. Other than that, it was a fun event as I have a lot of great memories of going there decades ago when I lived in Tucson. It's been a while since I came here but decided to stop by on Jan 28, 2026 at 6:30pm. Service is amazing , as soon as you walk into the restaurant they sit you down and have your drink order going. I ordered the cowgirl . Smaller t bone steak . The steak was okay . The fat was not really rendered down but it did have a good smoke flavor. This place serves a no frills steak so if you're used to peppercorn crust , steak with sauce or dry aged you will be disappointed. Keep that in mind. Racheal the "manager" is absolutely !RACIST and DISRESPECTFUL, UNPROFESSIONAL, UNEDUCATED! We presented a concern with our steak my little sister had which was "little cowboy" the steak was all fat, raw, pale looked almost rotten. We requested the manager and waited maybe 10-15 minutes until we walked around to find someone and the manger found us and SNATCHED the plate out of our hand to hide the plate and said that it was well done. Once we walked back to our table she stormed up to us and DEMANDED us to pay and leave. Another problem we wanted to address was a live spider that was found crawling on our bread and her and the security said we must've brought it from home and that spiders don't exist in that restaurant. As a Tucson chef, I don't hand out compliments lightly -- but Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse deserves its reputation. This place is pure Old West Tucson charm with a side of mesquite smoke. The minute you walk into Trail Dust Town, you can smell the wood fire and hear that grill popping. I ordered the Cowboy Steak -- a ribeye big enough to make a ranch hand blush -- and it came out beautifully charred, smoky, and rich. My only critique? Ordered medium rare, got medium well. Easy fix, but chefs, keep an eye on those thermometers. When done right, it's one of the best steaks in town. Service was warm, fun, and totally on-brand for the cowboy vibe -- friendly staff in boots and hats, no ties allowed (literally). I came here with a friend Friday night and service was excellent. We both ordered the filet mignon and while it was cooked to the right temperature, the steak itself was really salty and not good. I did like the salad because the ranch is amazing. I would ask for ranch on side though since they put a bit too much on it. We ordered a backed potato which was good. The green beans the steak came with were really bad. They tasted really sour so we didn't eat them. I ordered both the Paniolo (Hawaiian Cowboy) and the Doc Holiday cocktails less sweet. So sad about tonight's outing to Pinnacle Peak...thin, poor quality steaks cooked incorrectly that are $39.99 a piece. The sampler was a tiny plate with two tiny plastic to-go type cups of salsa and a container with a clump of brisket with cheese that wasn't melted. Server was very nice, so that was good. Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse is a Tucson iconic restaurant. It opened in 1961, was tragically burned down, and was rebuilt. So it's been open for over 60 years . The restaurant serves Western style steaks and barbecue all open pit with Mesquite wood charcoal. They try to create a fun family atmosphere with lots of influence of the old West.. They're located within "the trail dust town" compound -shopping mall. Which has its own history back to when Tucson was the town of maybe 45, 000 the 50s. It was an early western themed area, including gun fights  and a kid's train and a couple of kids' rides.. The restaurant is anchor of the "Trail Dust Town" The "town" also includes a more recent addition but iconic breakfast area "Millies Pancake House" This restaurant has its own unique Tuscan history from 1981. It fits into  "Trail Dust Town" very well.. Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse started back in the day when people dressed up for dinner. They became famous for their  "No Ties Allowed" policy and have always been a part of the Pinnacle Peak fun. Even though ties are not broadly worn these days. They're still a local tradition to bring young people in and have a tie cut off.. Hundreds of ties are proudly displayed all over the ceiling. One of  my fellow diners had a tie cut off when he was in high school, and he's over fifty. He told me his grandfather and dad also did. Restaurants and bars are also about expectations. What type of bar and restaurant are you going to? Everyone is understaffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. I also always overtip The restaurant itself has a classic type vibe, with lots of Western kitch.  It's very family friendly. My group included four  adults and five children. They have a great plate sharing option, which works well with children who are a little older or people who don't have a huge appetite.. Basically, you can share the main dish and have a reasonable upcharge, and get an extra salad and a baked potato together with the shared plate. They also have a kids menu, which has lots of good choices.  It's a busy place and that's because it has great food and a nice atmosphere. They also have a very Western theme bar called " the silver dollar saloon".... They have mixed drinks, a pretty good wine list, and lots of local beers... I sat at the bar as a single person, waiting for everyone to show up and was given prompt attention.  The meals were all generous, so sharing was easy.  We had "the cowboy" the Cowgirl " and "the kids cowboy" all of which were different sized Mesquite grilled Tbone steaks. My group of 19 had dinner at Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse on Saturday, September 6th. It's a very interesting and very large restaurant. Apparently, they can accept reservations for up to 50 people, which is amazing. It is very much a "theme park" restaurant for the "wild west". They have several buildings touting the wild west theme. They also have a small area off to the side of the restaurant with a ferris wheel and a merry-go-round with other rides and arcade games. They also have a small train that traverses the property. Everyone pretty much ordered steak, although there were chicken and salmon (farmed - Ick!) meals available. There are really no choices for vegetarians or vegans. My husband ordered the filet mignon. It was cooked correctly, but it was very small for the price, which was a bit expensive. Nonetheless several of the diners shared the large steaks on offer and were satisfied with their choices. Everyone generally enjoyed their meals. The wait staff were adequate and accommodating. For all large groups an automatic gratuity of 20% is added to the bills. Our waiter worked very hard to accommodate all our requests in a timely manner. Many of us weren't sure if we would have dinner at Pinnacle Peak again. Not for any other reason except it is really targeted towards families and large groups. This is also definitely a "beef" only restaurant as the dining choices are limited. Nonetheless it was a good Saturday night out. Of note be sure to check your credit card charges. Food was very good, it's not a true steakhouse so it wasn't the best cut of beef I've ever had, but it was very good for what it was and it was seasoned well. It was cooked on a Mesquite grill and that made it even better. Our service was absolutely outstanding, our server was "Bat Masterson" yep, they all have old-time country western star names, from back in the day, actually back from 1950's. It's kind of a cool place, looks like a old country saloon, it's all rustic, but that's what you should expect when you're coming here. The only downside was they didn't have a good selection of whiskey or bourbon's. I would've given it a five rating but because we didn't get any of the whiskey/bourbon we would've liked to have had it just kinda sent me back a little bit. It's a cute little village area and kids absolutely would love it. The desserts were very good too, very big and we ordered two of them for three of us. We probably could've ordered one. . read more

We brought our family here for dinner and we really had a good time. The first time we came I ordered a steak salad and the jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese, they are called rattlesnake eggs, and oh my gosh they are so hot but so delicious. My daughter enjoyed her hot dog we loved the fruit cobbler!! We also love the ambience of the ties hanging in the room and it was so funny to watch peoples ties get cut off. The second time we came, it was kind of an off experience. I do not recommend getting the hamburgers. My hamburger did not taste that great and the bun was overcooked so I would stick to the salads and steak or the rattlesnake eggs because those are good. The service is inconsistent. First visit our sever was friendly and very attentive, second time our server disappeared and my FIL had to find him to get help and again to get our check. That won't stop us from coming back, we plan on bringing more friends here and enjoying more on the menu but to also wear ties to get the experience! We came here with a group to celebrate a birthday and were delighted with the ambiance! We didn't know what we were getting into! We love the town around the steakhouse! The hosts were able to accommodate our large group. The ties of those who were brave enough to wear were throughout the place, which gave a gun touch, and the best was the many "ya'lls" that came from the staff as we entered and left. Our server was awesome! He moved quickly but was patient as our group asked lots of questions, and he gave great recommendations. The steaks were good- not the best, but solid. I ate all of mine, so I liked it! The rattlesnake bites were tasty, and the salsa with the chips was good. Everything about our meals was right, even with many special requests; the server quickly got us a few additional food requests after the food was out. My family has been coming here since 1970...I was a kid...Met a friend and his wife from out of town...got there first asked to be seated my party was 15 minutes behind wanted to order a drink and appetizer...was told could not be seated until my party arrived...ok can I put my name on a list....Oh no reason I was told because the restaurant is not busy....Why not seat me then. My friend shows up they ask him my name...WTF??
