I haven't been to the Pink Poodle in quite awhile. The decor hasn't changed since I can remember. Folks go there for the beef, not the ambiance. We walked in an the reception stand seemed a bit chaotic, even though there were plenty of open tables. It took 20 minutes before our server showed up at our table. Note: At first glance it looked like much of the staff was high school kids or recent graduates. Our server, once there, was pleasant. She, although not a kid herself, seemed under trained.. . The menu was indeed "limited". My wife ordered a NY Strip, only to be told they were out! Our waitress offered a club steak, which it turns out the also didn't have... We settled on the ribeye and a sirloin. Now the positive - The soup, salad & bread were delicious (also all you can eat). Get the homemade Italian dressing! You'll thank me. The steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly! Another issue was I asked for a refill of my diet coke. After awhile the waitress told me they were out! #WTH? My take away was that the Pink Poodle is really struggling. It's no longer the place to drive 45 minutes to get a meal. However, they still put out a good, filling meal, especially the steaks. I hope the management gets things back on track. We will probably give them another shot, (maybe) down the road.

Service was great! I got the prime rib medium and it was delicious! It came with soup, salad, and a side. All were great! My husband and daughter got the chicken and loved it! It also came with the same as me soup, salad, and side. Complimentary homemade bread was amazing! The appetizer we shared was the fried cauliflower/broccoli and we loved it! Fair prices! $88 total for all! Not including tip! Will definitely go again!

The cons... Instead of the hostess greeting us, she sat in her chair and asked us how many in our party before she ever stood up. She was nice enough, just not welcoming or well trained. The place smells like an old church basement. The carpets are extremely dirty! (You can see in the photo. No thats not some kind of shadow, its just cleaner close to the walls were people don't walk) Not just old, or a stain here and there. It was absolutely filthy! If the dining room is that dirty, it makes you wonder what the kitchen (that customers don't see) looks like. The texture is falling off the cracking ceiling, huge cracks in the walls. Our waitress brought our drinks out carrying them by the rim of the glass. Umm... Could I have a straw please? The soup bowls are at the table when you are seated, but the waitress takes them off the table after you order, and back into the kitchen to fill them. When the bowls are at the table, the wait staff is to bring a pot of soup and ladle it into your bowl. So ya... that was weird. When she brought our salads her thumb was actually on top of the lettuce! The sad little plate of lettuce was squished flat. I am guessing they make them up ahead of time and stack one on top of the next in the refrigerator? When the waitress sat down our salads I told her I had changed my mind and didn't want it. She never asked if something was wrong. I would have politely told her for future reference not to put her thumb in peoples food. I had the chicken alfredo. It was grainy- gritty, paste on noodles. I only had one bite and my husband had one bite. We did get a laugh at how absurdly awful it was. It was served with a thumb in the sauce and 2 pieces of garlic bread. About 1/4 of each slice was burnt BLACK. But the flavor was much worse then it looked. I tried the not black end and it tasted like it had been cooked in an oven that had just recovered from a grease fire. I would guess that it was just that dirty. My husband tried a bite and complained for quite a while that he couldn't get the rancid grease taste out of his mouth. My husband ordered a prime rib. (it is $25 now for a regular cut and that's high for the area.) He ordered medium and it was very rare. It was chewy (as most rare prime rib is) and not much flavor. Once again, I had a bite and he maybe finished 1/4 of it. Just a disappointing piece of meat. It was served with a plate of hashbrowns set directly on top of his prime rib. Why on earth don't they use a dam tray!! NOTHING is served on a tray! The waitstaff just pile plates on top of each other, carry your drink around the rim and trot out into the dining room with them! I don't get it! It wasn't just our waitress, it was everyone we saw. One gal had to have had 6-7 salads stacked up on top of each other, leaned up against her chest on her way to serve her table. Come on, you are supposed to be a nice steak house! Village Inn has more class than this. It was obvious that there had only been 1 or 2 very small bites out of the chicken alfredo. our waitress asked if I would like a to-go box and I told her no and that it tasted awful. Without apology, she then asked my husband if he would like one and he told her yes, the dog might enjoy it. She brought out our bill with absolutely no adjustment ( I would have expected to just be charged for soup and bread/butter). The waitress should have informed the manager that we were unhappy, but my husband had to ask to see the manager and tell her to take the alfredo off our bill. It still cost us $40 for bread, soup, Iced tea, lemonade, and the dog's dinner. Pros... The iced tea was fresh and brewed. The lemonade was above average. The fresh-baked bread was fresh, warm and good. The ham and potato soup was good. The waitress didn't put her finger in the prime rib au jus. The waitress was attentive and pleasant. Her mistakes were down to lack of training/ poor management. The hashbrowns were good. The dog enjoyed his prime rib. We stopped at McDonald's on the way home.

It was essentially everything I'd imagined and hoped for. Super friendly service, small town atmosphere, way too much food, cheap prices. Saturday was my first trip to this long-standing institution and while I typically shy away from 'traditional' steak house type restaurants this one has had such good reviews and local acclaim - even on our side of the river - I couldn't pass it up. We started by ordering random drinks off the extensive menu based solely on their names. What arrived was a surprise to both us and our server, but he was a good sport about it all. I had the Snuggler, which ended up being an alcoholic hot chocolate of sorts. Other drinks ordered at the table included the Pink Grin, Yellow Bird, Harvey Wallbanger and Scarlet O'Hara. For some reason we ordered appetizers and dug into fried cauliflower and cheese cubes before the meal, which started with warm loaves of bread with butter, side salads for all, and soup served table-side (french onion or ham/bean). Then... the prime ribs arrived (because we all ordered it). It was delicious and I ate way more than I should have. The fries were just the kind I like as well. Then, we ordered some after-dinner drinks in the same fashion. Mine was the Pink Poodle, which had ice cream and who cares what else. Others were the Rusty Nail, Stinger, Fluffy Monkey and Drambuie. The best part about the drinks, which were all delicious, is that these crazy specialty drinks were only $3.75/each! Unfortunately rumor has it that the Poodle might be shutting down due to the flooding issues and decreased traffic flow they've experienced this year. So get there while you still can!

Well, we had been here several times YEARS ago but not recently. I sometimes work in Crescent and suggested we go back, for the novelty of it. As other reviewers mentioned, this place is very big. And it is like stepping back in time. Very old fashioned looking. The menu is huge. Of course we were coming for the prime rib/steak. My husband ordered the prime rib and I ordered the rib eye. Both of our children ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Apparently they were busy over the weekend as they had no chicken. All meals come with soup and salad. The selections were beef noodle and minestrone. Neither was great. The meat in the beef noodle was questionable and the vegetables had been so overcooked you could not tell what they were. When they bring you your iceberg lettuce salad, they bring a selection of dressings. The salad was your typical iceberg salad with croutons. The portion size of the fettuccine Alfredo was HUGE. Neither child could eat more than half so they had leftovers for the next day. My husband said the prime rib was good. My rib-eye was not. It was not flavorful at all and had a bit of a weird consistency. I could only eat about a third of the steak--it also was very large. Service was fine. Our server was a mature woman who I imagined had worked there for many years. She was very kind to the children but seemed a bit flustered at times. For me, the Pink Poodle was a nostalgic place that I had been to when my husband and I were dating. We wanted to go back for the memory of it. I don't know if the food got worse or we just became more picky. It's definitely worth coming here at least once but I can't imagine I'll ever go back.

This was our third stop on our "Fox 42 Steakhouse Tour" and I was extremely pleased with both the service and the food. So far Iowa is beating Nebraska. There is nothing outstanding or interesting about the outside of the restaurant. When you go inside there is an interesting collection of dolls and pianos. For ambiance, that is about it. We got there at 6:30 and were seated immediately. The woman who seated us, Debi V, was courteous and was also our waitress. After she took our drink order, she brought us warm bread and a bowl of the Soup of The Day. Since today was Thursday, the soup was Vegetable Beef. It was delicious. Next came a lettuce salad with croutons. What makes this salad different is that they serve the salad dressing in jars on the side. They give you 4 to choose from: Blue Cheese, Thousand Island, Dorothy Lynch, and Italian. Since you get a jar, you can use as much as you want. Next came the Cut and a Half Prime Rib (18 OZ). I asked for mine rare and my wife wanted hers medium, both were cooked perfectly. The rib was one of the tenderest I have ever had and the au jus gravy was the perfect topping. It is easy to see why this is their signature meal. It was served with a baked potato, little on the small size, and came with only butter and sour cream on the side. Nothing fancy about the plating. For dessert, they served a New York Cheese Cake with Strawberry Topping, delicious. Like the other Iowa restaurant on the steakhouse tour, Tobey Jack's, it is pretty plain, with no table cloths, only placemats and paper napkins, but you don't need much when you have good food, good service, and very reasonable drink prices. My wife wants to return to try some of their steaks, I'll stay with the ribeye, but will probably add a lobster tail. If you live in Omaha or Council Bluff area and like beef, I think it is definitely worth your time to try this restaurant.

Cut-and-a-half of prime rib, cooked "medium." This is supposed to be 18 ounces, but it's probably 20 or 21 oz.

Great prime rib; mediocre everything else. I had the green beans as a side, and they were worse than the canned green beans I eat at home -- and I actually like canned green beans. It was either green beans or fries; they didn't offer any other sides. The salad was nothing special, though the creamy Italian dressing wasn't too bad. They didn't have much in the way of beer selection, either, and my friends who got the Manhattan said it was nothing like a traditional Manhattan should be mixed. To top it all off, the place is too well-lit to really have any ambiance. But, oh, the prime rib. It was right up there with some of the best I've ever had. They had three cuts -- the regular cut (12 ounces at $23.95), the cut-and-a-half (18 ounces at $36.50), and the Diamond Jim cut (24 ounces at $47.50). I had the cut-and-a-half, and by my estimate, it was a little bigger than 18 ounces -- probably closer to 20 or 21. It was perfect. Swimming in au jus, perfectly done, perfectly flavored. I wish the whole experience of the Pink Poodle was as good as the prime rib; if so, it would certainly be a five-star experience. As it is, if you love prime rib, it's worth a visit.

The 18 oz cut prime rib. That's the med.

It's a very old school, western, and rustic type of vibe. There's a sense of rugged individualism, resilience, and Western identity. Cowboys are a big part of the theme here, hence the brand name, The Drover. Various murals of impersonations of these vaqueros plaster the walls. The lounge area gives off old mafia movie feels, as you can picture how it could be filled with clouds of cigar smoke as mafioso Capos & soldiers belly-up to the dark bar sipping on their Scotch. Once the drinks start flowing and you get relaxed then the magic starts! You won't be disappointed in the Old Fashioned, or any other type of cocktail for that matter. The fresh baked bread comes out first with a significant portion of spread butter, which is absolutely delicious! Then you realize, that this place actually still has an old school salad bar. Like as soon as I seen the salad bar with all the fixings and the homemade Thousand Island dressing, I was hooked! Finding an open buffet style salad bar these days is as rare as finding a good woman who cooks and cleans. They're like unicorns. The Drover has several cuts of meat to select from. You honestly can't go wrong with the cut that you choose. They have seafood selections as well, just in case you want to get your Surf 'N Turf on. There's one thing that you can definitely say about this place, and that's the fact that it's a no-frills type of joint. They don't waste any time with any fluff. It's strictly meat & potatoes...literally. You won't find any bartenders here doing stupid bottle tricks and begging for clicks like they do out in Vegas. Instead you'll find Tony, who just keeps the glasses full with the concoctions that you wish to imbibe on. One of the female bartenders would fit right in at home in NYC as she drops an F-bomb or two. But, I'm no Karen, so I welcome the realness. She stated, "it's so fucking hot in here", as the bar fills up and the workers get slammed! Now onto the main course: I went with the 8oz Filet and the loaded baked potato. It was delicious! Simple, tasty, and loaded with flavor. They're famous for their secret "whiskey marinade" recipe. The baked potato comes out still wrapped in its foil, which will bring back memories of when your dad would cook them on an open flame charcoal grill. Did I mention the butter? I think I ate enough butter to kill a baby cow! And, I still couldn't get enough. Overall, this place is the epitome of Midwest Steakhouses. It gets right to the point and its customers will appreciate that! One guest told the bartender that he's not from Omaha, but every time he comes into town he comes directly to The Drover to eat dinner. He stated, "I've been coming here for 28 years". Later adding, "except for the years it was burnt down". Another female bartender quickly corrected him, "it was only shutdown for 9 months". Well, when your favorite restaurant is closed for any amount of time, "it felt like years", I added, as we all got a good laugh. As one old timer who came to sit at the bar said, "this is our favorite place". Well...old cowboy, I can see why. And, just like any Old Western movie, The Drover packs a serious punch. Pro tip: they open for dinner at 5:00pm, so get here early, unless you have Reservations of course. I got there at 4:55pm, no reservation, sat at the open bar, which is first come first serve and by 5:40 the place was packed! And, this was on a Wednesday.

EXCELLENT smoked flavor! I'm such a fish and chips whore, so when I saw it on the menu, it was a must. Boasted as premium cod, she comes in BIG fillets! Their two piece meal was plenty for one. Nothing to write home about on the chips; your traditional fry. Not terribly seasoned and not terribly... not seasoned. The cod was decently bite worthy, a little on the dry side, but flaked up well. Would I order it again? Probably not. Tartar sauce was just.. tarter cause. Timing was a tad off, as we finally got a refill and an additional water, when it was time to get the check. Don't worry -- the roads getting there are in great shape and it is a pleasant drive. We visited there with some good friends last Thursday evening to avoid the wait times that I had read about on Fridays and Saturdays. Even though that meant we missed their popular ribs and prime rib nights, we were able to experience everything else which makes this place special. To begin with, the building at the corner of the only 4-way stop sign for miles around is rustic, yet clean and well-maintained. The interior harkens back to simpler days of the past with antiques, pictures and other great decor. Our waitress was a young gal who was very nice -- even though she didn't know what the daily special would look like. We figured that many of her customers are regulars who don't need to ask exactly how a dish will be served. Not a problem! Three of our group elected to try the Hot Beef daily special which was tender slices of beef in a sandwich topped with brown gravy with sides of mashed potatoes and creamed green beans. Good home-style cooking that looked and tasted delicious. My wife chose the French Dip sandwich which came with onion rings and au jus. The hoagie bun was filled with meat and she pronounced it to be delicious as well. Our only mistake was ordering an appetizer of Onion Rings. Not the onion rings themselves--they were more than fine. But it was a missed opportunity to sample something else as a starter. Wonderful meal! Highly recommend this place.

Host, servers, sommelier were all so nice. We had the beef Wellington which was delicious and split a great Caesar salad. Both excellent. This place is pricey but worth it. I made a reservation for five of us, and we were counting down the days like it was a holiday. When we arrived, we valet parked and made our way inside. The restaurant is a little tucked away. Head downstairs past the hotel lounge and you will find it. It kind of gives the place a secret, speakeasy vibe, which I loved. We were greeted warmly and led to a private dining room that was beyond charming. It featured a renovated poker table that now serves as a dining table. It was unique, intimate, and perfect for our group. We were offered still or sparkling water right away, and the service was attentive from start to finish. Joe, our server, was fantastic. He knew we were celebrating and made the experience feel personalized from the moment we sat down. He also knew I was there for the Beef Wellington. I had noted it in the reservation, which I highly recommend, because they only prepare a limited number each day. They saved one for me, and I am still dreaming about it. Since it was our first time, we went all out. We shared Caesar salads, a small chilled seafood tower, bourbon-glazed pork belly, and an artisanal cheese board. Everything was top-notch. I do not even eat seafood, but the tarragon sauce on the tower was absolutely incredible. I would put that on toast, fries, maybe even a shoe. It was that good. For mains, most of us ordered the New York strip steaks. My husband chose the Summer of Steak flight, and I finally got my hands on the Wellington. Every entrée was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. These were easily some of the best steaks we have had in Omaha. We also ordered four sides to share, which was just right for our group of five. The truffle fries were hot and crispy with a lemon aioli that I wanted to take home in a bottle. The asparagus was fresh and perfectly done. The mashed potatoes were whipped and fluffy. The aged cheddar mac and cheese was everything it should be--gooey, rich, and ridiculously satisfying. Naturally, we did not stop there. We sampled a few desserts: Baked Alaska, Coconut Torte, and the Blackstone Butterbrickle. All three were excellent. There was not a single bite left behind. The cocktails were also a standout. Some of the best margaritas we have had in a while. The bartender deserves his own round of applause. Yes, it was a splurge. With tip, the bill came to around $1,200. But it was a birthday, and as my dad always says, if the food and the experience were good, it was money well spent. And this absolutely was. The Committee Chophouse delivered at every level: flavor, service, ambiance, and attention to detail. We left full, happy, and already talking about when we can go back.

I'm always down for a steakhouse, and Farmer Brown's has all the old school, classic vibes that I & everyone love. We had a big party, so there was just a slight wait, but we were able to grab tables in the bar & get drinks until our table was ready. Zach got a Pint 9 beer, and I got a blueberry mule. Their cocktail list was extensive which I always LOVE. Great service in the bar area carried over to our actual dining experience. Quick, kind, & friendly. We got some appetizers to start: stuffed jumbo tots (my fav), onion rings, & steak egg rolls. Zach got the club steak dinner, a 10oz sirloin, with green beans & garlic mashed potatoes (a FAV side). His meal was less than $25 (crazy). I got the shaved prime sandwich with fries. Portion size was insane. Flavor of the meat, cheese, & caramelized onions was insane. It was amazing. I cannot wait to come back ‍‍

Delicious food, very good service and the decor that makes you feel comfortable! I ordered the Prime Rib, medium rare. It was so flavorful and didn't have a lot of fat. I didn't care for the creamy horseradish, I just felt it wasn't very flavorful. But all the sides you get fills you up, fresh rolls, side of spaghetti (there's a different option), and hashbrowns (choice of potato). We will definitely be back, just make sure you get there early they open the doors at 5 and there was a line standing outside at 4:30 and they don't take reservations.

Memoir, in the downtown area of Omaha, is an absolute VIBE. You will want to bring your camera with…read moreyou, even if you're not normally a food photog, because the ambiance and food are made for the perfect pics! My husband and I first visited Memoir for our anniversary, and it was such an awesome experience, especially for a special occasion like that. After we were done doing all of our (admittedly annoying) photography of the awesome ambiance, we finally sat down to order and eat - and the original amazingness didn't stop there! The menu is not gigantic, which I always appreciate - because I get overwhelmed by too many choices. We picked a few things to share, at the recommendation of our server (who was also amazing and made sure we had a great anniversary dinner). They even gave us a card signed by the staff wishing us a great anniversary! Those little extra touches are what really make a dining experience special. We had the Kale and Bacon Dip for an appetizer, which was DECADENTLY delicious. The dip was smooth and silky with a toasty focaccia which went really well together with the two different textures. And we also grabbed the Pork Potstickers, and my oh my, were those fantastic. Delicate potsticker wrapper, with tons of filling, resting in a carrot-ginger dressing that complemented the potsticker fantastically. We were already so pleased, and didn't believe the entrees could top the starters, but they were just as awesome, which should be no surprise. It was easier to share two entrees, because we couldn't decide between two. Our first entree was the Faroe Island Salmon, and it was cooked to perfection, and served atop an indulgent bed of sweet corn risotto that I still dreeeeam about. And our second entree was the Rigatoni Alla Vodka, which was a little lighter of a meal, so was great paired with the salmon dish which was a tad heavier. I would recommend either of these dishes! We were SO full at this point but we knew we had to get a dessert since this was a special occasion. We shared the chocolate torte and devoured it, even with our extreme fullness. It was so fluffy and chocolatey and DELISH. From start to finish, this was one of the best meals I've had in Omaha. The service was on point, the eats were out of this world, and the vibe of the interior is something to behold. If you're looking for an awesome place to have a special occasion meal or just a nice dinner on a date night, look no further than Memoir for all of the above!
