Breakfast at Pinecrest is really good and decent prices but I'm not a huge fan of their "pastelitos" service is pretty good too.

Dear Pinecrest Bakery, I am SUPER excited to have finally stopped in and tried you on the 4th of July. It turns out that you're open 24 hours AND deliver to my house!!! That alone merits 5 stars because for the last 4 1/2 years of living down here, there's not one Cuban restaurant that delivers to us. Crazy, right?! I ordered a croquetta preparada, which is a croquetta sandwich on cuban bread that has ham and cheese as well. Some places also include pork but not here. It usually comes with pickles (which I always remove) and instead of mayo/mustard I opted for butter (so buttered toast with croquettas, YUM!). Everything is made to order and super fresh. My love went with empanadas, which he said were phenomenal and he also ordered croquettas. The croquettas de la casa are huge croquettas that are very tasty. The small ones are the normal ones and are also good but he didn't like the chicken ones (but loved the chicken croquettas de la casa). The cafe con leche was made to perfection and I love that there's a giant size option (yes, we got that and shared it); extra-large please! This is a full-service Cuban bakery with all kinds of sweet treats as well. There are cakes and desserts besides all of the delicious food that can be ordered. Truly a one-stop shop for any party! The reviews for this place are hilarious. A Cuban bakery - IN MIAMI - with Spanish speaking staff? NO WAY! A Cuban place that doesn't bend over backwards and makes you actually grow a pair and talk to the staff? It's like you've never interacted with Cubans before. Let me get this straight, you went to a Cuban bakery, didn't order Cuban coffee, and then complained that the Americano was crap, when Americano is crap to begin with? How do you people survive in the 305? I had just eaten NYE dinner with my folks and they were craving a nice dessert. They decided to take me to Pinecrest Bakery off 120 and US-1. I'm very familiar with the shopping center - have gotten suits from Heritage House, my German fix from Mainzer's, my Middle Eastern fix from Daily Bread and Dr. Gary Gegerson remains the best optometrist I've ever had. And now there is a 24 hour Cuban bakery. Why did I learn about this the day before I left Miami? Anyways we walk in at 9 before a holiday and there is a small crowd, including some police officers. The staff was unsurprisingly talking mostly to themselves and occasionally helping the customers. It's a Cuban place, this isn't strange. While the menu behind the counter was impressive, we were there for pastries and those in the display cases were all delicious looking. Pastellitos, a variety of cakes, cookies and other sweets. Sadly most didn't have a sign. When we ordered I asked what one of the cakes was and the woman couldn't translate it into English so I said screw it, it looks delicious. It was. I got a moist cake with coconut and a coconut sugar glaze. It was really good, however it was easily the least impressive of the three. My mom got this slice of cake where the bottom was chocolate cake and the top was cheesecake. It was kind of like the evolution of an oreo. But my father got the Cuatro Leches. Now Tres Leches is delicious, but this is even better, topped with caramel. I think all three of us showed a lot of restraint not fighting each other over that cup of delicious. I don't know how the place is during lunch or dinner, but for 24 hour desserts, I love the concept and can't complain about the flavor. read more

My wife went here to try out some of their baked goods. We tried the guava cheese, guava and coconut cheese pastries. Also a savory pastelito. They were very good, and while we have had better, we haven't had many better. They also had a good selection of cakes, but we didn't try those. Also, the pastries didn't hold up well the next day. We're not a big fan of the service -- or at least the lady my wife had to deal with. So it's one star off for the service. Four stars for the food, however. One note is, yes, this is a Cuban/Colombian bakery (in Miami! Gasp!) and so set your expectations accordingly. For those who enjoy flan, pastelitos, croquettes, Cuban bread et. all this works. If you are expecting apple pie and pumpernickel loaves, it's probably not going to work for you. I usually don't reference other reviews, but I must say, in response to another review, that I'm not a big believer in punishing a place for simply daring to not be the cuisine type you prefer, especially when its based on not even trying the food -- that is like going into a Chinese restaurant and giving them a punishing score for having the nerve to not be serving Italian. read more

We've ordered through UberEats about 5 times now and we give up. The quality is very hit and mostly miss, and they are simply incapable of getting an order right or giving a sh*t about it. Tonight about half the order was missing and they blamed it on the driver, saying he left the bag. Aside from that they make substitutions without calling, the ham on some weird Pastry they gave us, that was not what we ordered, was so old/dry/hard/dark it was like plastic. The "mousse" part of the chocolate mousse cake was like super heavy, thick, whipped grease and the cake part was so wet they must pour simple syrup on it. The super Cuban sandwich arrives cold/unpressed... I mean I've had wayyy better Cuban food from a gas station in Hialeah. 2 stars cause the guava and queso pastries are always good, but an entire 24 hour restaurant for that? Nahhh. read more

I've never left from a restaurant/bakery more livid in my life. First of all I walk in and there's barely any customers there, so one would think the service would be fast. Wrong. After I ordered my sandwich, the lady didn't actually start making it until she finished cleaning.. Which is ridiculous to me. After I finally got my sandwich, I clearly asked for no tomatoes and she still put tomatoes in it. I couldn't do anything about it because I had taken my order to go. My advice, if you want this bakery to be successful, you guy need to stop worrying so much about keeping the place imbecably clean, and actually do your job.. Which is not hard to begin with. Treat your customers well and give good service. If you're miserable working there then find another job. read more

I've been to this bakery about 5 times but the last time was enough for me. I am cuban & I understand that sometimes the way we speak Spanish my come off as "rude" but the lady that was working that night didn't have an accent misinterpretation she was just RUDE. I know it sucks having to work at 3 am (this is a 24 hour bakery) but that's no excuse to treat customers with attitude. So besides having terrible service the sandwiches are decent, sometimes the sandwiches are great, other times a bit bland. But still definitely a better option than going to a drive thru fast food restaurant. However every time I have gone they seem to be out of something, croquetas, ham, etc. Won't be returning anytime soon & if I do I will re edit my review if the service has improved. read more

This place is a great concept. The area is definitely in need of more good 24-hour locations for real food, not just fast food. The problems here are many, unfortunately. To begin with, I personally know two people who have gotten some degree of food poisoning from eating here, both within a week of each other. To me, that is unacceptable. The service here SUCKS. I wish I could make that a statement in a bold font. They only have 2 workers behind the counter, and there is no efficient system to making the process work. You need to set aside at least 45 minutes to be standing in the store (no seating at all) if there are more than 2 other customers in there with you. (This may be a slight exaggeration, but you get my drift). If you don't speak Spanish, then you're in trouble also. The only reason this place gets two stars is that their pastries are very good, and if their sandwiches don't give you food poisoning or you don't die of old age or mind eating them back in your geriatric facility (did I mention the lack of real seating or tables?) waiting to get them, they are pretty tasty as well. Although this is an option late at night, you better have some time on your hands. read more

I love Pinecrest Bakery's pastelitos de guayaba. They are perfectly filled with the right amount of guava and a light amount of puff pastry which is how I prefer my pastelitos. Their tequeños and house ham croquetas are delicious too. So based on my review of their eats I should rate Pinecrest Bakery 4 stars, however, the service is lacking which brings me to 3 stars. Each morning I crave their cortadito and pastelito but unfortunately I've had to take a rain check multiple times. I find their service in the morning before 8:30 AM to be very S L O W. I'm not sure if they don't have enough staff or enough coffee machines, but it's definitely frustrating when you're dealing with the morning rush and want an ideal to-go option. When you have to wait more than 15 minutes for a pastelito and cortadito, something is wrong. And when I finally make it back in the afternoon for a mid-day snack, I prefer sitting down to enjoy my light fare. The issue is the staff usually decides to mop the floor at the exact same time in the afternoon in the seating section so guests have to work around it. If they're open 24 hours, why not mop the floor in the evenings when it's less crowded? read more

Extremely disappointing, I ordered a croqueta preparada on media noche bread, got home to realize all the young lady gave me was bread with croqueta, no mayo, no cheese, no mustard, no pickles, plain bread with 4 croquetas. I explained myself very well, she even asked me if I wanted everything that it brings and I said yes. I'm not a picky customer, always tip and very patient, and to get this is totally unacceptable. I don't understand why employ young ladies that don't know what ingredients or ways to prepare menu items, if they don't know then give them the proper training. read more

Horrible service. I walk in with my girlfriend from having lunch at daily bread where we were greeted amazingly. No one greeted us in any way, which is not a huge deal, but after sitting there for over 15 minutes, standing in front of the counter, the three ladies behind the counter were either talking, cleaning equipment or something else and didn't even bother to ask us anything. Two of them made eye contact with me and continued to do what they were doing. But that's not even the reasoning for this bad review, it is due to the fact that two other people came in afterwards and were asked what they wanted after they had made eye contact with me and saw me looking for some one to help me. They didn't help just one, but two people that came in after me. This is a small place, you don't just "miss" someone standing there waiting for service". It is very unprofessional how they finally made eye contact me with for the last time as they saw me walk back out and didn't make a single peep. I've been here a few times. The service is good, I've never seen it so busy that anyone even bothered taking a number. The ladies are always attentive, if sometimes mis/un-informed. While one person is busy ringing you in, someone else will seal the box for you.. I'm not sure what more one can ask for. Now for the important part... the food. I've ordered a wide variety of food snacks. The Tostada was not really toasty (or even hot for that matter). The Pan de Bono are deflated and chewy but taste good. The pastellitos also have a good flavor but poor execution, they're never crispy. They're so soggy they kinda stick to your teeth, which is not so great on your way in to work (check the mirror folks). The desserts I tried were hit or miss, the Mille Feuille was AWESOME the Elaire was meh the Merengues were hard but tasty. All in all it's not perfect BUT it's totally affordable and keeps convenient hours (24 hours a day from what the sign says), you can get a small box of pastellitos and a couple fo desserts for less than $10 read more

I'd like to provide an update to my review of 5/17/13. In 2014 we've visited twice in the morning for a quick breakfast snack. Service has improved, the clerks appear to work much faster than they worked in 2013 and none of them were nasty or condescending during our visits. The quality of the pastelitos has been very, very good, they were fresh. I believe they can make these improvements: (1) Provide tall stools for customers to sit at the two counters in front of the windows while they eat whatever they purchased. (2) Provide small tables and chairs for more customers to comfortably eat whatever they buy. It's not fun to eat standing up. (3) Put solar film over the front windows to cut down on the glare. Not only are you making me eat standing up facing a parking lot, but the glare kills my eyes. (4) When a customer buys canned sodas or a juice and asks for a cup with ice, please do not give the customer a tiny, chintzy plastic cup....give the customer a good sized styrofoam cup. read more

Today I came in to try the new coffee setup they made as a Starbucks, now making frappuccinos and cold coffee drink. SOUNDS GREAT! But.... Sadly i never got to try it out. Why you may ask? The lady was first busy making online drinks and when it was finally my turn, the lady who was on the floor said she doesn't know how to make the frappuccinos drinks and didnt know much about them as shes new. She said to go ask the lady taking order on the other side. When I ask the cuban lady in Spanish, to explain the drinks that I have never had them, what's the difference and which one have she tried out that she recommends me to have. She answered, they're all the same thing and no, i haven't try them out. I told her, they're not the same drinks, if not you wouldn't have so many different pictures of frappuccinos up there So of course i told her i will go do business somewhere else. My suggestion for the owner is you need to pay those women more $$ if you want your business to flow better. More money means Happy employees enjoying their job. As well train them, stop being cheap. It shows and i been coming here for 4 yrs now as well all my co-workers. I'm not going to blame the employees, I'm going to blame the owner because it shows on his employees how he sucks as an owner. You are adding more stuff to your business, but your employees are still not happy and customer service is the worse. Even the food has gotten worse at this location. Nice little place open late, suitable for studying late night. Not sure about available power outlets and wi-fi, but if you need to read up on something and want to get some redshirt air and coffee and pasteries this place could suit you fine. What's surpring is that they are not listed as a coffee place on yelp and totally missed it on search. I happen to just see it when i was driving north on US1 from the falls. Its on the right side of the street and had a neon sign that said Cafe Cubano 24hrs. Coffee was decent and staff was friendly. The café con leche & pan cubano con mantequilla reminds me of what my Abuela use to make me as a kid. And the pastelitos de carne are equal if not better than pastelitos I used to go out of the country to find (literally... 1 bakery in DR). If you love pastelitos, pastries or just a good quality meal at an unbelievable price, you must try this place.. any location! I definitely recommend!
