With so many bakeries nearby, and some of them being more known or bigger and more renovated, I find myself coming back here often. A little hole in the wall that ever disappoints. When I offer to bring Cuban goodies to parties, I often end of ordering from them because it's always a hit. Pastelitos, croquetas, empanadas, tequeños, etc. Their breakfasts are great, I really like their pan con tortilla and ham and cheese croissants. They also have great prices for lunch! Dropped by here to grab a cafe con leche and a quick bite to eat on Saturday afternoon. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant and a few croquetas. I wanted to order a Cuban frita unfortunately the shop only had one person working the entire place. The lady politely told me it will take a while because there were two other people behind me she had to tend to (and anybody else that entered the bakery). She couldn't tell me how long the wait would be to cook the burger so I just stuck with the quick items to go. (I really would've enjoyed the Cuban frita and will have to come back to try it...when there's no line or they have another person working the kitchen). The ham and cheese croissant was good 4/5 stars. The cafe con leche was on point and the house croquetas were delicious 5/5. Overall, 4 stars is generous considering there was only one person working the entire bakery but they might be short staffed (due to covid surging in Florida again). I would recommend this place. It seems to have a nice assortment of pastries and party platter options and the prices seemed reasonable. read more

I am so disappointed at this bakery which I have been coming to for years. I can't bring myself to give it more than a 2 star rating. My birthday Capuchino cake was a disaster, the 2 stars belong to the actual cake which was very good. In my order, done on the phone, I requested that the cake be covered in "meringue", instead it was covered in a sort of whipped cream, that everyone scrapped off the cake. It didn't have the usual Capuchino decorations, it was plain white all over. I requested that the merengue that covers the sides be white, because I am allergic to the usual yellow tint they use, but expected the usual decorations on top. Next day called the bakery to complain, spoke to the baker, who insisted that the cake was covered with Italian meringue. When I told her I am very familiar with that type of meringue, and this wasn't it, she changed gears and told me she didn't use meringue because many people are allergic to eggwhites and if I wanted meringue that was a special order. No apologies for the plain cake, and dishonest about the meringue situation. If to get meringue on my Capuchino cake needed a special order like she said, I should have been called and told about it, rather that her covering it with whatever she wanted. I have never heard that getting meringue in a cake, especially a Cuban one, requires a special order. The attitude of disrespect to the customer and the lack of transparency in explaining why the order was not carry out properly, is clearly a reason not to come back. read more

I normally dont like to give bad reviews but this has upset met too much. We are in 2023 and the inflation has taken the prices to the roof but it is unacceptable to pay almost 8 dollars for a croissant preparado, that is supposed to have ham and cheese and when you open it you find one small slice of ham and one small slice of cheese. That is disrespectful. I dont mind paying but I expect ro receive a decent portion of food for what paid. If you dont want to get disappointed dont come here. The pitures will explain better than me. Hubby and I were looking for a quick Cuban toast breakfast that we can take to go, so we stopped at this bakery. We chose their breakfast special for $4.95 which is a good portion of scrambled eggs with ham, French fries, Cuban toast( pretty big size) and café con leche. I couldn't help to get a freshly squeezed orange juice, haven't had one in a long time. Service was friendly and quick, in and out in 10 minutes. They have a variety of Cuban pastries along with the freshly baked Cuban bread(hot off the oven). Assortment of Latin cakes as well even though I am not a fan of the traditional Latin cakes. Small bakery that gets super crowded quick. Has the typical variety of bocaditos and croquettes but I love how they have croissant sandwiches and how even the croquetta sandwich comes in one. This is my second time ordering from this bakery and neither of my experiences have been good ones. I ordered a desayuno completo, croqueta preparada which is supposed to be 3 croquettas!! and 4 pastelitos.. The desayuno completo was literally more fries than anything that's first of all.. and second the croqueta preparada only brought one croqueta when it's advertised as 3 meaning I only got 1 croqueta for the price of 3 . last but not least the pastelitos thank god they atleast put the right ones in.. unfortunately not so much of guava in them at all. This little hole in the wall in Kendall has been their since the 80s. My mother use to take me and my sister every morning before school. The pastelitos still taste as amazing as they use to when I was a kid. The prices are decent and the staff are very friendly. You can also order cakes to be made and they also have other pastries like there yummy cookies and meringues. How can I forget their shakes that they make fresh that are also bomb. The parking is alright at times but horrible when business is booming in the mornings between 8:00am thru 10:00am best times are around lunch time. This Cuban bakery offers a variety of things that as a Latina I love! I went to place a big order for a school event. They treat me amazing and gave me a good price because it was for the kids. So the next day I went to pick up the order and I had a café con leche a coffee latte. It was delicious and vey hot they way I like my coffee with just the right amount of sugar. The place is clean. They have my complete order ready in beautiful trays and they looked good. We ordered two packages for 50 people each of guava pastries, ham and potatoes croquetas, pizza, little tamales, cheese pastries, sausage pastries and different sweets. I tried them all and they were very good and fresh. Everyone enjoyed it. I will definitely go back for more and for my cafecito! read more

You know a place is good when they have had the same baker and viejita tending the register for the past 15 years! i have been coming here since middle school... Marlin's Bakery used to be the fuel I needed to get my batteries going before making my way into my first period at Arvida. The pastelitos are always fresh! All of them are great, but my faves are de queso (cheese) and guava y queso (guava and cheese) . I love the tostada's (Cuban toast) from Marlin's since it is always fresh.. I have been to other places where the toasts are prepared and then they heat it up on la plancha (press machine) which is terrible because the butter seeps through the bread making it soggy.... not at Marlin's they freshly put the butter on your bread to ensure the crunchy and freshness of the toast! This is a great little bakery in Kendall to get your Cubano grub on. We were heading to the beach and wanted to get some quick snacks. My husband's grandfather knew of a great little bakery that sells great pastelitos. I love the guava y queso and the meat ones. Sometimes you like something sweet or sometimes salty in a wonderful handpie form. It's one of those Cuban treats that you can't stop eating. Once you start eating a pastelito, it's pretty hard to stop. This place was pretty decent bakery, they had some batidos available - mamey, and others. Cuban sandwiches were already packed and ready to go, but we got our order in very quickly. They quickly filled our request of 40 pastelitos...20 of each...and believe those suckers were gone by the end of the day. We got some Cuban crackers as well, and spent about $30. Almost hidden in a corner amidst beauty salons and a mattress store, Marlin's Bakery has been a long time resident in this strip mall located at the N.W. corner of Kendall Drive and 127th Ave. As a matter of fact, Marlin's Bakery existed WAYYY before our Marlin's baseball team was created! I really do like this place, but I am continuously disappointed when I arrive at 1 or 2 in the afternoon and they are completely sold out of tequeños and empanadas. I mean, why don't they make more? I might understand if they closed early, like at 2 or 3 pm, but that is NOT the case. They are open till 8:00 PM which is later than the average Latin bakery. Anyway ... service is efficient and coffee is consistently good, not too light, not too dark, and always the right amount of sugar. The place is old and small yet usually clean, although I noticed the floor was dirty during today's visit (which probably says more about the customers being slobs dropping crumbs on the floor than it does about the employees whom I have witnessed cleaning behind the counter.) There is a long narrow counter along one wall which is lined with half a dozen wooden stools, if you wish to eat/drink on the premises. I have attached pics of their breakfast menu and sandwich menu, as well as pics of their display cases. Notice the first display case with empty trays at 2 pm. In case you are interested, Marlin's Bakery offers catering packages for up to 100 people. See pics. UPDATE: Ohhh boyyy ... This place is lucky they got a 3 star review from me a few days ago. Today is a different story! Definitely a "1 star" experience. Yuk. If anything, I feel that I am rather generous with my reviews... I rarely give a bad rating. Today's visit deserves a bad rating. A paying customer should not feel awful like this. I am going to be politically incorrect here for a second (in other words, HONEST) and address the elephant in the room, the "room" being "Miami" and the "elephant" being the way English-only speaking Americans are treated by Spanish-only speaking Hispanics in a business establishment. To say that we (English-only speaking Americans) receive a lesser level of service would be an understatement. I came here to Marlin's Bakery for a late breakfast, ordered the $6.00 one that comes with eggs, ham, fries, tostada, and cafe con leche. (See pic.) There was a very nice gentleman customer next to me (checking me out, I think, lol) and he offered to translate for me. I asked him to ask if I could substitute the "papas fritas" for something else. The employee said NO. Then I asked if it would cost less if I did not get the papas fritas. Again, the employee said NO. So I ordered it AS IS. I thanked the nice gentleman for translating. I sat patiently waiting for my meal, and about ten minutes later, I hear "MUCHACHA!" I look and see that they are handing me a "to go" bag. I never asked for it to go. Not sure why they ASSUMED. It actually would have made more sense to assume to the contrary! I had settled down on a stool, set my purse down and was working on some paperwork; it looked like I was going to be there a while. Anyway ... I opened the bag & the styrofoam container only to find browned eggs (Yuk), a skimpy piece of ham, tostada, and NO papas fritas! ANOTHER awesome customer offered to translate for me. The employee said that they had put hamon INSTEAD OF papas fritas. WHAT?! First of all, this breakfast COMES WITH HAM!!! Second of all, the employee had previously said NO substitutions. And, third of all, the breakfast SUCKED!! My eggs were brown and dry. Scrambled eggs should be moist and fluffy. The MEASLY piece of ham was not the thick type of slice that other places give you; this one was super thin and cheap tasting. Double yuk. And ... Bad attitude from the employees. I was not given any utensils; once again, another lovely customer offered to assist me in asking for at least a fork. ZERO stars for service, attitude, and food. FIVE STARS for the wonderful, friendly, polite CUSTOMERS who helped translate for me!! read more

My Cuban coffee break hot spot. Leidy makes it the best and as soon as I walk in the door she starts making it for me, no words need be exchanged. They also have the traditional Cuban bakery fare; cakes, pastelitos, croquetas, sandwiches, deditos, empanadas... I occasionally indulge in the croquetas or a tostada which are good although I am not crazy about their empanadas. On occasion they do make Colombian style empanadas and those I have an insane weakness for. Alright, after writing this I think it's time for my second coffee break. read more

They also do cakes, sandwiches, shakes, etc. I drive a good 20 minutes just to get pastries here...and it's well worth it. And you can go when they're about to close and everything tastes fresh. Good pastelitos for a great price. I called a day before to place an order for pickup the next day for a work function. They were very nice and placed the order without a need for deposit or credit card. The next morning I swung by, had to wait a little as the order was not yet ready, but they were definitely fresh.
