Reindeer sausage burrito

Fantastic food! This place is unsuspecting to the naked eye but it is an absolute gem in Anchorage. It's got some great breakfast burritos and sandwiches for lunch. Grace is doing most of the work herself but she is an absolute stud. If you want a quick bite to eat with some simple yet delicious food, go no further than Pil's!

Reindeer Wrap

I was not impressed. The deli is small, with only one person working. The atmosphere is drab and cluttered. The person didn't seem to be very friendly or care if I ordered or not. I stood at the counter and had to wait until she made 3 orders without a word of hello or be right with you. We ordered a reindeer wrap finally which, we shared. The wrap consisted mainly of lettuce with a lot of mustard and a hand full of reindeer chunks. Maybe Pils is a local favorite and the locals know what to order? This hungry traveler was not impressed.

I was in town visiting and looking for a quick sandwich for lunch. Walked over from my hotel and found this nice little deli. It's a tiny place with limited seating and the woman working there was friendly. I ordered the BLT sandwich on white toast. I've had a lot of BLTs in my day, and this one was pretty decent. The bread as perfectly toasted and the sandwich fixin's were good. I ordered mine with a little extra mayo (which I'd recommend). I'm finding that eating out in Anchorage in general is a bit expensive, even at a little deli. The BLT cost $12.95 (April 2023). Having said all that, there was little room for improvement on the BLT. Perhaps a bit more of the toppings, but as-is, it was a fairly satisfying sandwich. I probably could have eaten two! I was hoping to pickup some soup as well, but there was only one option and I wasn't up for that particular soup today.

Iced coffee with mocha powder

Best way to start off your morning in Anchorage! Grace was the best. Custom made us mocha iced coffee and beautifully prepared in sandwiches to get us fueled for the day Small space that really makes it feel like home. We love a small business!

After trying numerous breakfast places and getting hour wait times, we stumbled upon this super cute hole in the wall deli. They have breakfast and lunch options and offer gf bread options! There are only two tables in the whole place but the food is quick and satisfying. They also have smoothies, coffee, tea and some limited baked goods to choose from.

This is a very cute deli that provides a variety of fast food. Bummer that they don't serve coffee. See menu pic. There are 2 small tables indoor and three outdoor. Service 5/5 Food 4/5 Price 4/5 a bit pricy compared to a reindeer dog you can get on a food stand $6-$6.5

Avocado Melt

Very cute and affordable deli! Lots of options & the staff was very friendly. Not much indoor seating but it was mostly takeout anyway. I went for lunch one day and breakfast another- both were great. I had the avocado melt for lunch and it was so yummy. For breakfast, I had the breakfast English muffin sandwich and it was the perfect classic BEC.

There was quite the line when we arrived (starting out the door), but they were quick with taking orders! I took this as a great sign. My partner got the Reuben and I got the Smokin' Mo Sandwich which is brisket, cheese and bbq. Finally some good brisket in town!! It was so good and tender. I was very happy with my order. It comes with a pickle which was nice and garlicky mmm mmm! Chips and slaw are optional sides, but I didn't partake. I also got latkes as I haven't had them since I was a child. They were good. They come with the traditional applesauce and sour cream. I found the portions generous - I came home with half a sandwich and 2 latkes to eat for dinner. The place is clean and has plenty of seats. They do breakfast all day. They also have Dr Browns soda from NY available by the can or case. The pickles can be bought too and all of their meats by the pound. We plan on coming to get some of the by the pound meats at another time. Staff was very friendly and helpful with answering any questions we had. Will definitely be back.

Lunch time is crazy since they added sandwiches but reminds me of back home so I don't mind at all. It started with the many choices of bread, a 'would you like some of this delicious warm bread while you wait' paraphrasing only slightly, and then they didn't have the bread for my sandwich (I paid an extra $1 for cheesey) and they went over and beyond to compensate for such a small inconvenience. Both are packed with flavor. Whether ordering in or ordering to go, keep in mind it takes quite a while--almost 10 to 15 mins--for the staff to make your sandwich, so I wouldn't recommend that you stop here in you're in a hurry because you're not going to get it out fast. In this case, call ahead about 30 mins or so if you're picking up. The prices are a little high, but it's worth the price for the quality of the food you're getting, which I can't say for most restaurants in the present era (2020s for those that are reading this in the 2030s and 2040s, if this platform still exists then lol!) Either way, the quality is HIGH and the flavor factor? HIGH! The Classic Piadina is very fresh tasting and comes with greens. It only comes in one size, so it's a little small for me. Still delicious! The Nonni is a pretty large sandwich, if you're getting the full sandwich. The onions combine with the meat enhances the flavors. The building that Originale is in presents itself as a very quaint and relaxed lunch spot with bright colors and large windows. It's a place you can go to sit and talk with friends. I look forward to trying more of their sandwiches.

I went with the "Favorito," and let's just say, it instantly earned its name. The prosciutto cotto was pure-savory-bliss-melt-in-your-mouth good. And the focaccia- fresh, herby, and perfectly balanced in thickness. It hugged the fillings just right without stealing the show. Also, the tomatoes- I did not expect them to be so buttery and delicious. I may have paused mid-bite to appreciate them. Yes, I'm that person. As a die-hard cheese lover, the little bonus cube of cheese on the side felt like a tiny gift--like the sandwich was giving me a wink and saying, "Hey, I see you." Originale, I'll be back. Probably sooner than I should be.
