Located on Piikoi Street, this place is in the same area as Ichiriki and Thrills Softserve. Street parking is hard to find so we parked in the open lot across from Side Street Inn. The dining area is small but is decorated nicely with vibrant dopamine colors and eclectic vintage finds. We were super excited as we saw this place on our Instagram feed and had to check it out. The excitement ended with the food. We were super disappointed that it didn't live up to the hype. We ordered the ribeye and it lacked flavor as it was bland and felt dull on the palate. We doused it with the sauce on the table and topped it with garlic chips which made it taste somewhat better. Also, $15 for a side order of 6 - 8 pieces of garlic shrimp. Seriously, I could've gotten more than that at a food truck plus rice and sides. We are definitely foodies that have tried many different steakhouses. This one was a no for me. We will not be returning.

Macho Grill dba Piikoi Steak is located at the corner of Piikoi & Waimanu( think Side Street Inn.) If you arrive early the sandwich board will not be out yet. Don't blink cuz you might have to circle the block like I did. There are a few parking spaces on the right side of the restaurant. They offer steak and pork. They have a lit up sign inside with a cow, pig & chicken so please add chicken on to your menu also. Utensils were in a wooden box on the table- set the table yourself. They provide a nice big hand wipe. All 3 of us ordered their 7 oz steak which came with corn niblets, a side salad, rice, a non-alcoholic beverage and a topping like mashed potatoes, a tiny scoop of grated daikon with ponzu sauce, etc. Remember to try the garlic chips and sauce on the table. They had two kinds of refreshing fruit flavored dessert on a sprinkle of burnt/bitter perhaps chocolate cereal at the end of your meal if you asked but no appetizers to begin with. I think perhaps you must request water. There was none on the table. The set price seemed reasonable. The seasoning was right on. Would be better if they selected a more tender cut of beef to serve their patrons. That would then be a solid 5 star review. Everything else was good and the right portion size for lunch adding dessert on your own or do a review on Instagram. The company you are dining with if not dining solo makes your meal enjoyable. Thank you most generous Yelp Elite Peter Y. for treating Terry K. and I to lunch. Great conversations ranging from trips, future travel, cats, eagles, a monkey and mini remote cars with a dandy dressed feline behind the wheel. Restrooms should you need them are located on the far left of the serving kitchen.

My daughter and I went for a late lunch on a Saturday and there were two other parties there Location- it's along Pi'ikoi but it was VERY hard to find. I think I had to circle the block more than 3 times until we found it. I called a couple of times, to ask for land spots or any other clues to help find them. The guy who answered was busy and basically said "just look up the address. Sorry we are busy". Normally if I can't find the place or parking is limited, I would have given up. Because we wanted to try it, we kept trying. The photos on yelp helped us narrow it down. The guy did say they were near Ichiriki and that's when we figured it out. It was actually my daughter's vision that saw the sign. Recommend a bigger sign. The address number "514" is the same color as the wall so that made it more difficult. Parking- we parked in the paid lot (shared by Ichiriki, Thrills, and the other places in that location). There was parking at the side of the building, but it was not clear if it was for Pi'ikoi Steak so I didn't want to risk my car getting towed. Service- when you walk in there's long table for 9-10 people. All the chairs were facing the wall so maybe it's for special parties with someone behind the table helping? Not sure. As you walk in further, there is maybe 6 tables (4 top) and a few counter seats. There was one guy running around. I'm assuming he was the one who answered the phone. He seemed to be doing everything (waiter, delivering food, cleaning up, etc.) so I could see why he said it was busy when I called a few times. There was a lady behind the counter and the chef. The guy was working hard so kudos to him. Food- prices for the lunch menu were decent, inclusive of rice, corn, and your choice of a side and drink. The steak choices were 7oz and 10 oz, additional cost for each ounce. It doesn't say what kind of steak, but I think it could be a skirt steak or hangar steak. It was cooked to medium but some parts were hard to cut and chewy. There's an option to Wagyu but wasn't feeling like spending $90+ on it. Looking back, maybe that was the choice I should have decided on. I chose the garlic cream side and it was good. My daughter chose fries. She semi freaked out it was on the sizzling platter (she didn't want the fries to get soggy from the sauce) so she took it out quickly. The garlic chips is a must if you like garlic. I didn't know what the sauce was so I didn't try it. It didn't have a label nor were we told what it was. Would I come here again? Maybe, but not in the near future. I definitely wouldn't do the steak again. Maybe would try the pork or Wagyu.

As a steakhouse lover and someone from Japan, I had to check out this Japanese‑style steak restaurant. We came for lunch, and the dining room was pretty quiet. The lunch menu is limited, but straightforward. We ordered the beef steak sets, which came with steak toppings, corn, small cup‑sized salads, white rice, and non‑alcoholic drinks. We also added the house wine. The steaks were cooked exactly as ordered -- medium rare -- but the meat was a bit tough to cut and on the chewy side. The salad was tiny but tasty. The white rice was very good (Japanese‑approved), and the house wine was surprisingly solid. I do wish they offered a bit more variety on the menu, or at least upgraded the steak cut to something like a New York strip or ribeye. Overall, it's a decent and reasonably priced lunch spot. Clean space, attentive service, and a cozy atmosphere. I imagine the experience is a bit different at dinnertime.

A little hard to find, especially since they changed the name to "Macho grill", but once you find it, it's right in front of you! It's kind of like a speak easy. If you know, you know. Great ambiance. Food is amazing! I ordered the hamburger steak and a side pork chop. Was super delicious and flavorful. Comes served on a sizzling platter with corn and broccoli. Chef and Andrew provided a taster bowl of curry. Was LIFE CHANGING. I've never been a big curry person but this may have changed me. Lastly, the garlic chips on table are a must try. Crunchy, unsalted, no additives, just sliced and dried and self service. Mahalo'z to Chef and my server Andrew!

Lunch in Honolulu, Hawaii... Piikoi Steak was better than I expected! The service was outstanding. The environment was calm and elegant. The food was beautiful and delicious! Gosh - I didn't even get the server's name... my bad! He was very polite and professional. He was attentive and had great timing. My used dishes were taken away promptly. He checked up on me, offered me a free drink refill, and asked if I had room for homemade dessert... Uh... I'll pass because I had food coma already! This space used to house an upscale restaurant. Reviews state that the decor was kept. I have no idea. I thought that it was pleasant! It could use a bit more air-conditioning... LOL! Steak on a sizzling platter, topped with a cube of butter was quite appealing! I consumed everything... the fresh green salad, all of the corn kernels, slivers of onion, grains of rice, and bits of mashed potato... yum! That steak sauce and garlic chips were very tasty and added more flavor to the steak! The meat was tender and juicy! If I went back, I'd try the pork, out of curiosity. I didn't get it because the place is Piikoi "Steak"!

The steak here is insanely good. It's perfectly buttery with just the right amount of peppery flavor. I loved that it's served on a hot stone sizzling plate, it stays warm and makes the whole experience feel a little extra. Service was also super quick, which I appreciated. The mashed potatoes were creamy and comforting, and the steak sauce paired really well with everything. It's a bit on the pricier side, but honestly not bad for a simple, solid steak meal. Definitely worth it if you're craving something satisfying without all the fuss.

This was my 1st time trying Piikoi Steak and I have to say it was an amazing experience. Located across from Ala Moana next to Side Street Inn, they have three stalls next to the restaurant and a parking structure across the building. I didn't know what to expect going in but the interior is simple and upscale. Luckily we came early and were seated immediately. Our server Sheva was upbeat and friendly. She explained the menu and also gave us tips on how best to enjoy the food. Their menu consists of either a 7oz or 10.5oz Beef Steak or Pork Chop, or a combination of the two. Each option comes with salad and a choice of either Japanese Rice, Mashed Potatoes or Baguette. We ordered the 10.5oz steak, 10.5 oz pork chop, mashed potatoes, Japanese rice, whipped garlic cream, pineapple sorbet and vanilla bean ice cream. They recommend the steak be rare or medium rare because it comes out on a hot plate and continues to cook as you eat. The steak was so tender and pairs well with the whipped garlic cream and steak sauce. The pork to me was tender but needed more seasoning. Next time we will order two steaks instead. The mashed potatoes are silky smooth and more neutral in flavor to contrast against the flavorful steak and accompaniments. I highly recommend adding garlic chips to the mashed potatoes to add an extra crunch and kick. Their sorbet and ice cream comes with homemade cornflake cereal that adds the perfect crunch. The pineapple sorbet is surprisingly creamy for a sorbet, super refreshing and not tart. Their vanilla ice cream is smooth and you can taste the vanilla bean. 10/10 will definitely come again!

Celebrated Father's Day here at Piikoi Steak and my dad was a happy camper with his 16 ounce cowboy steak! It was cooked perfectly, I tasted a piece. My son had the combo with the pork chop and I tasted a piece of that too and it was juicy and tender and yummy. I ordered the Japanese style hamburger patty just so I could try multiple menu items. It was good and moist like a meatloaf. Tip, let it rest a little. I think this is why they use a little parchment paper screen so that the sizzling platter doesn't splash on you while you wait a bit. I didn't ask what kind of cut they use for the ground beef- like if it's ground rib eye or sirloin then can go medium but I don't want pink for ground meats typically. But steak yes of course rare to med rare! The seasoning and flavor was again, perfect. To those who say under seasoned, check your palate lol. There is Japanese sauce and garlic chips full of umami! The whipped garlic is also divine! It's a bit of an open kitchen so I think the chef is a woman, and I think she's awesome. Men chefs tend to make their food too salty ha;) The way my dad and son like actually, but not me. Meals come as sets so you get a salad and a side and a drink. I wish my waiter told me, I just got water. Would like to go again and try the house made dessert. I think I heard lemon sorbet that sounded good. Parking is unpredictable though but we got lucky!

Overall rating: Service: 10/10 Ambiance: 10/10 Food: 10/10 Me and my friends had a good time at Piikoi Steak House. Hopefully they'll continue this business since I heard this is a pop up restaurant. There's only one sever but she very friendly and attentive. They have a simple menu. All the meal comes with a set with salad and rice/mashed potato or baguette. I picked mashed potato and it tastes very smooth and creamy. The beef steak and pork chop steak are very tender and juicy. I would highly recommend this steak house.

Popup till end of 2025 so go check them out before it's gone! I hope they find a permanent spot because I enjoyed my meal there! Definitely casual steak because the cut wasn't anything fancy, as reflected in the prices. The decor inside looked fancy though as it's formerly a high end restaurant that specialized in truffle dishes. However I had a great experience still even though I had better steak elsewhere. I love how it's served on a hot iron skillet with paper wrapping around it containing the splatter. The corn that went with it was such a great side dish. Salad was ok, the dressing was too vinegary for me. Don't forget to get their whipped garlic cream! Goes so well with the steak and everything! Also appreciate how the rice was delicious too! The lady who served me was very friendly. Even though she's a native Japanese speaker who spoke broken English, she's very nice and tried to make a conversation with me too. Great spot for a $25 steak that you don't have to grill yourself!

The ambiance in this quaint little restaurant is casual & intimate. A great place for lunch/dinner with a friend or a date! As you enter there is a large table for a larger group. There is a little private room to the left (Not sure how many it can seat, as it was behind a curtain). The main dining area has about 5 tables that seat 2-4 people each. The menu is just 1 page. We got the large steak & the large pork chop, each came with a choice of 1 free topping. We got the garlic cream for the steak & daikon & ponzu for the pork chop. Each meal came with a salad & a drink included. The entrees came out pretty quick on sizzling platters. They smelt amazing! The toppings paired perfectly with our entrees. There was complimentary garlic chips & steak sauce on the table. I didn't know it was steak sauce & poured some in the daikon & ponzu... but, it made for a perfect sauce for the pork chop! Just trust me & try it together! The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare & the pork chop medium. We didn't get to try their homemade ice cream, because we were stuffed. Maybe next time! Overall, ambience was nice & intimate, service was very attentive, and the food was delicious! Both the steak & the pork chop were tender & juicy. We will definitely be back! Oh, I almost forgot. There are a few parking stalls right up against the restaurant. But, if those are full, there is a few street parking & the pay parking right behind the restaurant (where Ichiriki, Do Won, Airpark Karaoke, etc. are).

The hostess was so accommodating. I ordered a cocktail, the Ribeye steak and Caesar's salad with fries. Everything was so divine! I totally forgot the name of the drink I ordered but they have a nice pour and felt pretty good after that one drink! The best part of my night was the Ribeye steak and knowing that my car was safe in their designated parking lot. I ordered the charred Caesar salad and duck fat fries. The charred salad was odd, I think I was expecting a light smoke but I guess they were true to the title because it was charred. My prime rib was the standard medium rare but it took some cutting because there was so much connective tissue that had not melted, the fat hadn't melted either. It was just bad. I asked the server about the prime rib and she said it's supposed to have a lot of fat because of the cut. Absolutely true, but it's supposed to melt not be huge chunks. It also needed the horseradish, it had no flavor otherwise. The server was nice and took half off the prime rib. The fries tasted like a standard fry I've had before, nothing special. I tried the lobster pasta my friend had and it was delicious, everyone who ordered pasta at the table was satisfied which is great but this is a steak restaurant. The server was really nice. I wouldn't come back even if someone else was paying. But my dog appreciated the prime rib I brought home, so I guess that's a win?

We both ordered the ribeye steak, mashed potato, asparagus and fried rice. Both ribeye steaks were cooked to the exact doneness. The size of the ribeye steak was pretty big. Luckily I was very hungry so I finished my steak. The asparagus was very delicious and the mashed potato was very delicious too. Our server, Elijah did an excellent job answering any questions and was very attentive to what we ordered. When the meals came in. He even asked to double check the doneness of the steak by cutting it right down the middle and it was cooked to perfection. I don't remember the last time I went to a steak restaurant other than my birthday, so it's very rare to go to a restaurant and order steak. So this was a large treat to me. The restaurant had a very nice atmosphere with the lighting dim and the music very soft. This restaurant was very busy luckily we just wanted a seating for two even though they asked if we had a reservation and we didn't so we got lucky.

This visit we came for a late Father's Day celebration. Of course we all ordered steak since this is a steakhouse! We made reservations and we're probably seated at 5 PM. Since we were here early, restaurant was not very crowded at that time, but did fill up pretty good while we were there. One thing that I don't like about Little Joe's steakhouse is that they have the music playing very loudly that it makes it difficult to have conversations over dinner and even give your order to your server. We ordered the filet mignon, ribeye steak, chicken tenders and had sides of potatoes au gratin, sautéed mushrooms, grilled asparagus, fried rice with steak, and garlic fries. The food is consistently good, but I was disappointed in my steak as I ordered the ribeye to be cooked medium, but the steak I received was well done. It was still tasty, but definitely overcooked. My dad ordered the filet mignon medium but it came back rare. This surprised me, because in the past, they've cooked their steaks consistently to order, but cooking a good steak to well done is a definite, no no. Our server, however, was excellent, prompt and very polite. Ambience 3 stars Food 3.5 stars Service 4 stars

Whenever I passed by this place on Kapahulu, there's always a line, and line's don't lie, right?!…read moreMade reservations (highly recommended) and found street parking as they do not have a dedicated lot. Once inside, you are warmly greeted. It's a little dim inside during the day. No paper menus; you need to scan a QR code to see what you want to order. Our group ordered the teishoku set which came with the main entree, rice, oxtail broth, and 2 appetizers (we opted for tofu and eggplant). We opted for the Aburi flank steak which was very very tasty and the Aburi chicken. The chicken was a touch on the salty side, but it came with a spicy dipping sauce which was phenomenal! All the meats had the delicious smoky flavor from the grill. The oxtail broth was kinda bland. We also ordered the oxtail ramen which was also a hit. Finished off dinner with ice cream + mochi. The mochi is also grilled but know that it's not sweet mochi.

Since it was late, we noticed the back of house staff help the front. Everyone was so friendly and food comes out fast. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because the food was a bit too flavorful - we all agreed that everything was slightly salty. I could also say portion of some items may not match price, but I understand inflation is increasing at an alarming rate. So I'll leave money out of this. Crushed cucumbers were interesting. We couldn't decide if eating it with chopsticks or spoon was better. With chopsticks, you might not get enough sauce. But you could taste the layers of flavor. With a spoon, you get too much saltiness. The spice hits at the end. The tako karaage were a little too chewy for us. Beef tongue was so tender. A definite must order. I dont think it needs rice though. We also ordered the late night nikumiso but it didn't come with an egg, which the menu said it should. We tried handful more items but we'll be back to try the oxtail items, as it sounds like that's their specialties, but takes extra time to prepare.

And boy were we both blown away (so much so that I believe she returned the next day with others!). The menu had been completely revamped and seemed to take on a more local influence while still being very upscale. Since we both enjoy "sampling" we shared two appetizer and a main. Everything was bursting with flavor! This is what we had: Starter salad from the seasonal menu of watermelon, strawberries, blueberries and greens served on a bed of yuzu infused goat cheese and drizzled with a shiso chimmichuri sauce. Yes, bursting with flavor! I would return for just this dish! Next shared was a tempura battered cauliflower served with a robust curry and yogurt reduction. Deeeelicious. I wouldn't say we licked the plate... but I won't deny it. Hahah. Finally shared the seafood in curry soup (think a lighter version of laksa) served with white rice on the side. Holy moly. No words to describe. Portions were generous enough to share still next time, I won't. That memorable you won't want to share. No longer serving volcano black rolls, tho absolutely serving amazingly wonderful dishes. Volcano black pancakes still available at breakfast. We kept on oooing and ahhhing and asking about the chef. Our servers Gale and Lily, who provided the most awesome service told us "Chef Lance" (as he is affectionately called) moved over from the Mariposa (Restaurant in Neiman Marcus) over a year ago. Further research revealed Chef Lance Kosaka has brought experience from noteworthy restaurants: Top of Waikiki, Merriman's, 53 By the Sea, and most recently Mariposa. I am hoping he will bring in a notable creme brulee that I loved at both the Top as well as Mariposa! Not wanting the deliciousness of Chef Steve's cooking to end, I also ordered a warabi salad to go for the next day. It was...just as wonderful as the other dishes we enjoyed. Thank you to Servers Gale and Lily, Chef Steve, actually...the entire staff who elevated a casual evening of dining to be a most memorable experience! Thank you to sister friend Karen who insisted we dine here, for the most wonderful company and meal. Validated parking in the building accessed on Seaside. Validated for either 2 or 3 hours depending on the promotion. Kamaaina discount of 10 percent given. Will we be back? Absolutely. And I won't wait so long this time to return!

We ordered a back-up plate lunch with the smoked ham steaks that we barely touched, because we were so full. Most prices are under $30, and they have a great breakfast menu as well. Even though it was a busy day, our food came out in just a few minutes. Glad this place is still around. Can't wait to go again next time I need a cheap protein boost!

It's a "hole in the wall" type ambiance. But when the quality is this good for the money, ambience takes a back seat. We went on a day that missed out on the best prime rib in the state. Those days are Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. And you best get there before closing cuz they run out fast! They also have the best pork chops I've ever eaten and those too run out early. We got there late on Wednesday and had the NY steak. It was a great size and tender cut with asparagus. It was excellent. We also had the chicken but was no longer crispy as we had takeout and didn't get to eat it until a couple of hours later but the flavor was good. Parking is street only so you best find a side street and park as it's busy. They deal in cash only! **** Most all plates come with a salad and rice.

In addition, the rest of the staff - including the very approachable GM Doug - seamlessly jumped in to assist in service whenever needed, even though they were all each very busy.
