After seeing The Format at the AZ State Fair, one of my friends said let's grab a drink. We hitched a ride to Downtown and after some misses due to long lines and no availability, we ended up at Pigtails. We found two seats at the bar and got a couple fun, inventive cocktails. I asked the bartender for her favorite drink and she said the "Black Magic Woman" which was a blackberry infused bourbon cocktail. It was great, and for my second drink I asked her the most unique drink on the menu and she said "Down The Rabbit Hole" which was tequila based and had carrot among other things and cream cheese foam. Who knew that was a thing? Also delicious. My friend and I were going to have one more cocktail but we decided to check out another bar simply for variety. But definitely a rad spot and I'd happily come back.
Was going to check out Coabana for drinks, and we saw a group go through a side door into Pigtails, a speakeasy bar. No reservations were needed and you could simply walk in. We were greeted by welcoming staff and ordered an Insomnia and a Black Magic Woman, which did not disappoint. We just stopped in for drinks before a show. Service was quick and attentive to getting us food or drinks. Cute bar and a great place to hang out if you are in the area.
Such a beautiful atmosphere, ambient lighting and such lively plants on the walks. The full bar with bottles on display looked like a library of liquor. The bartender Karly, was radiant, kind, and very great at suggesting my boyfriend I in the right direction of flavor to savor. She suggested the Rose glasses for me and Son Of a Peach for him as he's a whiskey drinker The drinks were more delicious than described on the menu I feel because Karly was so good at her mixology. She was very fast at creating the cocktails and very friendly. This was a perfect date night experience and I'd highly recommend it.
First of all I cannot understate the quality of the service I received. Eulalio had other tables, but we consistently got our drinks and food quickly without errors, even when they were on the complicated side. He is a true boon to the business! The restaurant itself is hidden inside another called Coabana, but there is a door clearly labeled Cocktails to get to it. Through the door the hustle and bustle of the busy restaurant outside gives way to a cocktail bar that feels much more intimate, with dark lighting and quieter music than is playing outside. It was perfect to converse and enjoy drinks with friends! This time we went with some friends, and each of us could not stop talking about how good everything was! We started with In To The Blue shots for the table, which were so good we wished we had sipped them. Then we ordered our first round of drinks and food. We shared a plate of nachos and they had the perfect balance of toppings and chips, then my partner and I ordered some tacos and a Cubano Sammie. The sandwich was delicious, much better than the average Cubano I've come across in Phoenix. The tacos were also great, and $11 for 3 was a steal! Our friends also got tacos, which they enjoyed. My partner ordered Cupid's Dagger and the Insomniac to drink, and she loved both of them! Cupid's Dagger was also served with a bubble of smoke and it was on a little silver tray, which was cool. I ordered the Son of a Peach and Femme Fatale, and they were both delicious. The Femme Fatale was also served inside of a wooden cake tray filled with smoke, which was a very cool experience and added to the flavor of the drink. All in all this is not just a restaurant, but an experience. And if you have some money to go out in downtown Phoenix, I would say this experience is not one to miss! If you can, try to get a table with Eulalio because he is excellent!
Overall a great experience! Came here the other night to grab a little bite and some drinks. The oysters were really good and the nachos were fantastic. The nachos had some beautifully charred pork on top with this delicious chimichurri sauce. I decided to be adventurous and try the mystery punch, which wasn't too bad either. Only negative was the service could have been better. The place was not very busy but our server was never around. We ordered some food but when the oysters came out we still had no plates or silverware, which took awhile for someone to bring.
Took a friend from out of town. He loved the vibe. Our server was great and the cocktails were amazing as always. Super fun place for a drink downtown.
10/10 place- great drinks, comfy seating, cute vibes, and we walked right in and got a seat but we may have just been lucky!
Cool bar that was hard to find. It's marked on the outside, but you kind of walk through a kitchen then into the quaint little bar. You enter the bar from Central Ave just south of the hot dog place. There were about 8 of us and some weren't drinking and it had a nice mix of cocktails and mocktails. I had the Mezcal Cocktail (I can't remember the name) and it was delicious. We stayed about 45 mins or so and enjoyed the back corner booth. Service was great as he kept checking on us. It was fairly busy, but not overly packed on a Friday night. We walked right in and got the last table. I'd go again and try some more unique cocktails. Fun spot!
We stopped in right before the ballgame and it was perfect. No wait and plenty of open seats! We only ordered off the drink menu and the four choices we did were all winners.
Fun hidden little speakeasy downtown. Great staff. Very good cocktails and happy hour shrimp and oysters are delicious and a bargain. Will definitely go back.

This place was tricky to find, classic speakeasy, but absolutely amazing! The food was delicious and the drinks were super tasty. The music was so fun as well as the ambiance. It was dreamy, lots of seating, and the staff was so friendly and attentive. read more

First, the ambience here is pretty cool. I love all the live plants on the walls. The drinks are great, and you should go ahead and let the bartender surprise you! The nachos are humongous, and you can't go wrong for the reasonable price! read more
What more can I say about this place outside that I just enjoy being here any day of the week and each time is a different experience you have to always try something new on the menu and the drinks are just phenomenal it's phenomenal I can say that I've tried at least the 1st 5 drinks on the happy hour menu and then the 1st 6 drinks on the regular menu each time that I come here. Came with a CO worker and we have the nachos the artichoke spinach dip and a civic which was excellent try and come down and try something new each and every time didn't want the wasters because we missed a happy hour but knew that they probably would be good read more
Excellent speakeasy hidden downtown Phoenix! They have a large cocktail menu, but I'd like to see some more gin options available. Definitely recommend getting Started From The Bottom as well as the Mystery Shot! As far as food goes, I recommend happy hour! They have great oysters. The bruschetta three ways was okay. The best part was the crispy bread. The artichoke flatbread was also just okay. It needs something salty... maybe bacon? Overall great speakeasy! I tried this place today. It's a speakeasy type bar w/bit of food as well. The customer service is very quick and very informative of the drinks. The ambience is really nice and low key, the drinks are very equal to. The drinks aren't to strong, nor sweet and just right. Ample seating indoor and parking nearby within walking distance. I will recommend this place to others for quick drink or hangout with friends. read more
This place is definitely one of our favorite places to visit before or after an evening out on the town! It's intimate and the drinks always hit. The food is decent, but that's not what keeps us coming back. I recommend giving this place a try and maybe we'll see you there one night! ;) read more

When I was planning my trip to Phoenix, my friend said there were quite a few cool bars/speakeasies we could check out. We ended up at Pigtails on a Monday night + had a pretty good experience. In true speakeasy fashion, the building outside is unmarked. I looked up pictures in Yelp + still ended up walking by lol In the front it looks like a ghost town kitchen, only thing that would catch your attention would be the neon "cocktails" sign above the door that takes you to the bar. Again it was a Monday, so it wasn't busy at all + we were seated right away. They had so many cocktails to choose from! It was definitely hard to pick, but I went with the Fresa Than A Muh'F**** lol I really liked the name + I'm a sucker for sweet/fruit drinks. When it arrived, I was wondering what the heck was floating on top of my drink + my server let me know they were basil seeds. Thought that was interesting, but still proceeded to try the cocktail + it was bomb! Fruity indeed + well balanced. I played it a little safe with this one so next time I'll be trying something a little more adventurous (like my friends did with the matcha cocktail). Overall, we enjoyed ourselves + our drinks + the service was good! I'm curious as to how packed this place gets as it seems like a popular spot because of the drink selection. If you're looking for a more intimate location to enjoy a drink or two with friends, in a place where the music isn't overly loud, Pigtails is the place for you! The space is dimly lit, and the cocktails are fairly strong (but tasty!), and the servers are friendly and attentive. read more
Who doesn't love a hidden bar?! Pigtails is the perfect place to stop for a drink (or two) and an oyster (or a dozen)! Enter through the unassuming oyster bar and walk to the back through the swinging kitchen door! Inside the bar is dark low lighting with a charming ambiance. Huge bar with tons of seats and small booths for 4 lining the wall. The bartenders / mixologists are super nice and make great drinks will definitely be back next time we're in Phoenix!! read more
This is a super cool little spot downtown. Maybe not the place you want to hang out all night, but a "couple of cocktails then go check out some other places, then come back for last call" kinda place. The drinks are very nicely done. It's a downloadable menu and it's fairly busy list of imbibement (it's a word, Autocheck!). I'd recommend checking it out before you go so you can change your mind at the last minute. The Whistle Pig OF w/smoke was worth the price of admission, for the spectacle alone. Creative cocktails, well made. Also, we're grateful to the young lady who burst out of the door on Central and said "you gotta check out this bar!". Made it easier to find. read more

What a great little place. If it weren't for Yelp, I doubt I would have stumbled across this hidden gem. Once you find your way in, the place has an immediate cozy and laid-back feel. You get the tiki bar feel without the cheesiness of being in a tiki bar. The cocktails are very creative. We saw ice lit on fire, cocktails presented in giant smoke-filled domes, and huge pig-shaped punch bowls filled with straws and booze to share... Hmm, maybe I should take back my "without the cheesiness" comment. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the cocktails being prepared. The servers were friendly and helpful with recommendations. All that with one of the coolest backgrounds - a wall of live plants. The plant wall is the kind of thing you see and instantly wished you had in your own house, but quickly come to your senses because you know it would eventually be a wall of rot, sadness, and regret. I thought I had made a review of this before, but here I am again leaving a positive review. If you don't know what a speakeasy is, it's basically a nod to bars that had to hide their business in the prohibition era. When coming to this place, you'll find a clam looking elbow room shop. Go through the next door and you'll find this classy looking greenery bar that will make you feel like Gatsby. The drinks are always amazing and my boyfriend and I couldn't agree more than this place has our favorites. Very kind staff and comfortable atmosphere. read more

Good foods and unique drinks! All our drinks and food were good, cold brew shots were strong. Nachos were a large portion. Service was okay/good. Bathroom could have been cleaner for a not busy night. read more

We didn't realize it was a speakeasy. If you are lost, it's to the right of coabana. The security saw us us trying to figure out where to go and he was very helpful. We went in around 5 and were seated right away but it filled up quickly after. The staff was great and gave great recommendations. All the drinks were great. read more
Ok everyone, buckle up. I didn't like this place.. I rarely say that, if I ever actually say that about appetizers and libations. However, Pigtails was just underwhelming. We had 1 parents night out for the first time in FOreVer and the pressure was on me to find the best spot within walking distance from our Hotel. Pigtails talks a big game on social media and I thought this was going to be a home run. Strike out--- the drinks are filled to the rim with ice so I am not positive how much drink is actually inside. Pet peeve number one. Pet peeve number 2: we order 18 oysters, baked Brie, shrimp cocktail and beef sliders. We wanted to sample this and that... our Oysters come out and they were (I don't say this lightly) pitiful, smelly and way too "room temperature" for consumption. Yet, We raised no fuss... even though they were $2.50 each) Our waiter comes up to us saying they are out of shrimp, no worries we have more food coming and we'll order another drink in the meantime. *20 minutes later* waiter: oh! I forgot to put in your Brie appetizer and beef sliders :| Check please! We ate away our sorrows at Daughaus next door. Which we would have saved $60 and 2 hours of our life had we just ate their in the first place. They are full service bar BTW :) read more

I wrote owners with no response so now I'm going to give this updated review. From respect from friend i was not going to change review this point i am. Walked in the oyster seafood people they get a star. The way i was treated and the view of hostess bartender un acceptable. I was about to be seated when young people came behind me then told i have hour wait. They were clearing one seat at bar thier were plenty. My friend disliked placed on prior visit we are local. I had praised this place but not anymore! Don't go to any of thier properties ! They are age discrimitory read more

A fun speakeasy, Pigtails has a wide cocktail selection and is the perfect pre-dinner drink spot. Not to mention they had the best strawberry shortcake I've ever had - highly recommend! read more

First time at this location, and it was honestly a great time! I was really worried it would be busy for a Friday night, I arrived around 1930 to see some open booths.(This left me content)Unfortunately I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked, but definitely a nice location. Drinks start from $10 up to MP so you will definitely find variety here. The overall service was great, and our waitress did an outstanding job at gauging when we needed something and when to ask us how we were doing. If you haven't checked out this location I would recommend it, your only clue is the Pig on a chalkboard and make sure to have your ID ready. read more

Food was different but the kitchen was closed for the main menu. So I was only able to get appetizers. But very unique place. Next door is through a staged entrance. You go through a kitchen and then to the restaurant section. I loved the ambiance. read more

This bar is one of my favorite places downtown. The secret entrance is super cool and fun, but not even the best part. The inside is very trendy and everyone I've taken here is always impressed with the ambiance. Besides the way it looks, the staff is incredibly nice, helpful, and fun to talk to. Some of the drinks are their menu have fun touches to them, but all of them taste amazing. One of their drinks comes in a container of smoke, they lift the lid and release the smoke, it's pretty awesome and the drink taste damn good! A great place to bring people and small groups (I wouldn't recommend over 6 people) who haven't explored Phoenix or downtown. For the vegans and vegetarians- they have a grilled veggie platter and it is to die for! read more
