Wow! What a gem right there in Temple, TX! My wife and I were traveling through from Waco back to Round Rock and searched Yelp for the best restaurants in town, and this one did not disappoint! Delicious meatball and marinara appetizer, scrumptious lasagna, and delectable truffle and garlic sacchetti pasta. Several other items on the menu that look delicious, but they will have to wait until a return visit, which we will definitely do soon. But let me tell you about their wine list. I though the wine-by-the-bottle list in the regular menu was pretty decent for a small Texas town restaurant, and found several wines on there that were highly rated and all were priced right as great values. But then I found out they have an entirely separate DEEP wine cellar app available on an iPad. OMG! I could not believe the length and breadth of this selection. There is a very strong reason they have years-upon-years been a recipient of recognition by Wine Spectator as great wine restaurant. The service provided by our waiter was excellent. He was very attentive and on point. We also got to meet and talk with the restaurant's owner, Clinton Harwell, who strolls through and greets customers and asks how their experience has been. We're passing through on our way to San Antonio and Temple was our stopping point for the day. Service was excellent, wine great, calamari and tiramisu wonderful, unfortunately the lasagna and eggplant rollatini were served barely lukewarm warm and were just simply middle of road, lack of flavor and dry. Wife asked for additional marinara for her entree which I was rather surprised there was a $1 charge on the bill. Just had to laugh. Overall just an okay experience, somewhat disappointed that it didn't live up to the question asked of us at 5:00pm to an empty restaurant "do you have reservations?" Had an amazing time here with my hunny, it was soooo romantic outside they even had candles on the table but we came during lunch, so they weren't lit. The food is authentic and the chef even threw in some pesto pasta salad and it was divine! Service was outstanding. I recommend. read more

We were here to celebrate an upcoming wedding and the night was special. Champagne the waiter selected was excellent. There were 7 of us and all the food was excellent steak pizziola, mushroom ravioli, shrimp fettuccine, moules fries, eggplant roullatini. Come here every time I'm in Temple on business. The food is quite good and service always friendly. Bread and oil are top notch. (We were not charged for bread & oil contrary to prior commenter's post.) My only complaint is the incorrect billing practice. Not only are credit card processing fees charged (a practice I've seen nowhere outside of TX), but they include that fee in the subtotal and charge tax on the fee. Had dinner here for my birthday. The main dining room is still not finished with renovation/repair since the tornado hit in 2023 so they are using what used to be their party room for dining. As such, they were very crowded and, although we had reservations, we had to wait 15 min or so to be seated. That said, the service (Augie) was fantastic - attentive but allowing us time to enjoy each course. The mozzarella sticks are HUGE and the best we've ever had. Their ciabatta bread is so good - the butter and the oil concoction add such flavor - I could have eaten the whole batch of bread! But I was a good girl and left room for the main course: I had the blackened redfish over an absolutley decadent linguini in creamy sauce. My husband had the chicken Parmesan. Both dishes were beautifully plated, large portions and just delicious. We split some cheese cake for dessert - real cheese cake and real good. One complaint: they only serve beer and wine (my husband likes his scotch). We are looking forward to going back when the renovation is complete. However, I highly recommend people trying them out now. Definitely worth the trip and any wait for a table. read more

Food was ok. Had reservations on a Saturday night for 8 special family dinner/celebration Ordered fries cheese they were out of it. That's my daughter's favorite when we go here. Ok it happens. Server took our order and delivered our appetizers. About 20 minutes later she came back to say one of my guests order was out and handed him the menu to choose again. After he made a rushed decision our food started coming out. All 7 of us sat there looking at our food as it got cold while we waited for his dinner order. When I find a manager to let her know, she didn't seem to care much and never apologized. I could have put up with the incompetence in the kitchen but the lack of empathy from the manager is not acceptable. Our bill was slightly more $500 so expected better. The first time we went was for an anniversary and Valentine's Day combined. And they treated us like we were their only customers. It was a wonderful experience. Our second time was when we were trying to recover from the pandemic, so it was summer of 2021. And it was tragic. They put us in the basement. Even though they had tables in the restaurant. The basement is basically for storage and has a bar in it. No ambience at all. And my husband ordered the Osso bucco special - - which was $34 - - and it was amazing, but given where we were seated, it wasn't worth $34 for that experience. (Even though it really was amazing.) We won't go back. You can't charge this much for food and then put people in your basement when you have tables available upstairs. If you can't use the one dining room, even though there's space, you shouldn't be open for business. read more

It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. After being a loyal customer of this restaurant for over a decade, and even becoming a platinum wine club member (which includes a custom wine box each quarter) I am sickened by the service I received (or didn't receive) during my last visit. I always attend the weekly wine tasting event as a way to treat myself and sample wines that I don't have in my collection. On this particular Wednesday I showed up as usual around 6:30 PM (the wine tasting is scheduled from 5PM - 8PM). I was informed by the waitress that they had sold out of the wines for the wine tasting, and the wine tasting was closed. As a courtesy, I asked her to contact the manager and let him know that I was a platinum wine club member to see if there were other wines that were comparable that for me to sample. The waitress returned (no manager) to let me know that wasn't an option. We were charged for bread service, even though we didn't order a meal, and decided to go next-door to eat. To my chagrin, the GM and the manager we're at the bar next-door having cocktails. When I decided to return to the restaurant to cancel my wine membership, the waitress went to go get the manager he still didn't come out and instead tell the waitress to tell me my membership was effectively canceled. Still, the manager could not be bothered to come out and address the situation. This is just confirmation that Pignetti's does not value their minority customers. This is not the first incident that I've had since the new management has taken over. I have enjoyed the exquisite cuisine at this restaurant for years, but I cannot support a business that is dismissive to people of color. I know my business doesn't mean squat to the management team but I will not be returning. read more

Great ambience, great service. This place got hit hard by the Temple tornado but the venue side survived, so that's where they're sitting diners now until they renovate. We ordered the truffle ravioli and the chicken parm. Caprese salad is just like we make it at home, so that was a hit. All items we ordered were excellent. Friends come here often. They love the veal parmigiana and veal piccata. Their wine selection is spectacular. Of course at a first time Italian restaurant I had spaghetti and meatballs, you know with the thought process that if an Italian place can't do that right no reason to return. My wife and I enjoyed our time dining here! Service could be slow at times. However, there wasn't an empty table on the restaraunt the entire time we were there, so we cannot fault them for that since they were obviously busy. The food came out fast despite how busy they were, meaning the kitchen staff were firing on all cylinders! Their dessert options were not presented on a menu, yet fresh options for the evening were displayed on request. My wife and I will come back for future date nights as we enjoyed ourselves in the wine cellar stylized atmosphere! Love this food! Being that they are remodeling from the tornado, I would like to personally request that they hang more tapestries on the walls for sound absorption. It is SO LOUD in here. I called for reservations at 4pm Sat, for early dining and we scored a 1715 table before the rush. We experienced a friendly greet and seat immediately. Our server was attentive and engaging. YES, they now charge $3 for their DELICIOUS bread, but c'mon it is worth it. They seem to improve the seating every time we visit; it's very intimate and cozy. -star because the calamari was chewy and the veal was rubber. The good was just too good!! The tortellini and fettuccine dishes were creamy and just eye roil amazing. Our KETO adult kid got the cauliflower crust Diablo and was blown away by the texture and full flavor. read more

I wanted to take my wife here for Valentine's Day but they were all booked up so I settled on the day after. I had a 6 pm reservation. On the way there we were in a minor traffic accident. I called the restaurant and they said if we came 30 minutes late no problem. It was more like an hour late but they seated us right away even though they were quiet crowded. Thank you. I am sorely surprised that I'm leaving this poor rating for Pignett's. Where do I start?!?!? 1). Bread has always been free; as of 2 weeks ago it now cost $4.00. 2). No joke, it took 30 minutes for the appetizer to come. 3). It took a whopping 48 minutes for the entree to come AND it came to the table cold. Smh! Wow. Wow. WOW! 4). This was our first time to try this place. We're both of Italian heritage and have eaten a lot of good Italian food over the years, so we're a little picky. With that said, I'd give the food a very good 4 stars. We had crab cakes to start, I had veal scallopini, very good, and wife had the black truffle sacchetti, could have been hotter. We had wine and shared a chocolate cake for dessert. The wait service was good but we had a trainee who was trying a bit too hard. The atmosphere was nice but the table at which we were seated was a little cramped with the adjacent tables. The wine list was amazing and they offered several options by the glass. I had a delicious ruby port as my dessert. The prices were reasonable considering everywhere is high these days. The wine was a bit too expensive but I think this is their "thing". I thought the hostess could have been more welcoming, I don't think she said anything more than "this way". Overall I give it a solid 4, small details could have made it a 5. read more
