Quiet interior with attentive servers. Nice menu options. Enjoyed the wedge salad. Nice steaks. Shrimp brochette was an excellent meal. Nice portion, great flavor. Had bananas foster for dessert. Good flavor but disappointed by poor quality ice cream. read more

High end steakhouse. Great service, great sides, great wine selection. My 16 oz ribeye was tough, not what you would expect from an $84 steak. The truffle Mac and cheese was excellent. My girlfriend's 8 6 oz tenderloin was good. Everything was great except the tough ribeye. read more

We got takeout from Cheeve's for lunch, and the food was massively overpriced for the quality. This may be because this was lunch and not dinner, as their lunch menu has very limited options. I got the penne dal giardino with chicken for a whopping $25. This pasta was very mid. It just tasted very basic. I like having vegetables in my pasta, but they made the pieces abnormally large, and there wasn't much chicken, which was an additional $7. I've had much better and cheaper pasta at Olive Garden. They don't do delivery at all, which was inconvenient, especially for lunch, which doesn't even offer food that would be strange to deliver like steak. read more

Cheeves Bros Steak House - Penne Dal Giardino with chicken - Steakhouses Near Me - Temple, Texas

This is definitely not a 4 star restaurant. The service was great, but the food was as just so-so. I got a $55 steak and $12 bakes potato. The steak was very undercooked, so much so that I couldn't eat much of it. I ordered medium and it was rare and bloody. There is no kids menu so I had to order $18 buttered noodles for my 4 year old. My husband got the ponchetrain chicken and he liked it. Maybe this is the best Temple has to offer, but we were just passing through and it wasn't what I would consider a stellar dining experience. read more

The vibes here are immaculate. The food is even better. Got the New York strip, cooked to perfection nice and medium rare. Salad was great and creme brûlée was soooo good! I recommend this place to whoever is in temple, such a great high end dining experience. read more

Went here for my retirement dinner last week. We try to go at least a couple times a year. It is as expected expensive. The food is always top notch along with the service. We will go again soon. Our server was Angelica. I would strongly urge you to be seated in her section. She was awesome wih all our needs and requests. Was able to make solid recommendations that were spot on. Ask for her You won't be sorry. read more

Overall above average experience. We were promptly seated, but the service was on the slow side. It took a while for the drink menu and our server to check in on us, but overall no big deal. The inside had a rustic feel to it. It was clean and spacious. The food was also above average. It was maybe on the pricier end for the overall quality, but not exponentially overpriced. read more

We tried this place for the first time for dinner. My husband had to make a reservation. We were told you have to dress up and had a friend tell us he was kicked out before because he was dressed nice but had a hat on and told them he didn't want take it off because he hadn't styled his hair and was uncomfortable. He had a group with him ready to drop big money. They left after he was told he wouldn't be served. He was someone who had spent a lot of money in there regularly taking people for business meals. He stopped going, but we tried it to try it. We got there and I laughed because it's nowhere near a "fine dining" look inside. It's outdated and the dimness of the lighting wasn't a moody feel, but dingy. You could tell they were way too big for their britches. Our server was cordial, but not in a warm friendly way. The menu was limited. We ordered basic cocktails. My husband's was good and mine was not. I could barely drink it and it's something I order often. We got a salad that was fresh and good. We each tried a fish option. It was not good. The fish itself maybe would've been okay, the sauce was vile. It was a heavy, creamy oily mess. It had tough chucks of crawfish in it. My husband's couldn't finish his. I didn't want to waste money so I tried. We had also ordered truffle Mac n cheese. There wasn't a trace of truffle in it, it was so greasy it that it was inedible. Like when oil and dairy separate. The pasta wasn't cooked properly. It had zero flavor and wasn't creamy at all. I was over it. We ordered dessert. They have multiple dessert options, but for whatever reason said they only were doing cheesecake or crème brûlée. We ordered both. The cheesecake was good. The crème brûlée wasn't. It had an excessive amount of powdered sugar all over the top and plate and was served on a tacky paper doily. The texture was weird. We spoke of how we would never come back and it wasn't worth the prices they charge. Even if they fly ingredients in or whatever justifies the prices. The food we got was not good. It's not us being picky, it really wasn't. To top it off, I ate nothing else that night and hadn't had lunch prior... I went to bed that night and woke up with food poisoning or it wasn't sitting well and was throwing up all night. By morning it had cleared my system and I felt better. read more

Fine dining in downtown Temple. The Rockefeller Oysters were incredible. The ribeye came out medium rare just as I ordered. The banana foster desert was yum. The ambiance is classy and the bar is a sight to behold read more

Amazing food, polite and attentive service, coupled with a beautiful dining room make Cheeve's the best steak restaurant to celebrate a special event or just for a date night. We've been coming here for years and took family visiting from out of town, and they were blown away by the quality and taste of the food! read more

Amazing food and service every time. We love coming for happy hour and oysters, and the redfish plate for dinner is absolutely delicious.

We were a party of 4. We ordered the pecan crusted halibut, Caesar salad, 8oz filet, grape salad, fried shrimp, wine and a mixed drink. My filet was ordered "medium" and arrived rare. It was sent back, cooked more and brought back to me by a surly waitress 25 minutes later. The halibut arrived as a fishy smelling slab which was almost inedible. The Caesar and grape salads were excellent as were the shrimp. Once the filet was returned to the kitchen the atmosphere changed from one of welcome to one of annoyance. We are not going back anytime soon and suggest you spend your money elsewhere. read more

Cheeves Bros. Steak House in Temple, Texas, is housed in a century-old building that is still beautiful to this day. The restaurant's ambiance exudes timeless elegance with refined décor and warm lighting, offering a sophisticated setting for guests to enjoy their meals . Its concept centers on delivering a luxurious dining experience to a small town. We came with a large group of 14 people and were placed at a long table near the bathrooms. That might be the only negative to our whole experience. We had two servers helping us since we were such a large group. The drinks were constantly refilled and bread brought out fresh and warm. My family of 6 enjoyed sharing many of our dishes. Here were the highlights: Mini beef Wellington made with prime tenderloin medallions, puff pastry, mushrooms, shallots, merlot reduction. Delicious!!! The shrimp cocktail consisted of boiled and peeled gulf shrimp with house-made cocktail sauce. The shrimp were just ok but the cocktail sauce was great. Panko Crusted Mini Crabcakes made with jumbo lump Maryland crab, remoulade, tomatillo relish, sriracha, cilantro. Truthfully, the sauce and extra spice took away from the flavor of the crab itself. Not my favorite. Iceberg Wedge Salad made with chopped romaine lettuce, tri-color cherry tomatoes, julienne carrots, chopped egg, diced onion. Choice of Ranch Dressing and Cheddar Cheese or Bleu Cheese Dressing and Blue Cheese Crumbles. Pretty standard wedge, nothing special. Prime Aged Tenderloin 6oz Filet 6oz cooked medium rare. Great! Baked Sweet Potato side served with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Yum! Truffle Mac and cheese was the biggest disappointment. It was oily/greasy at the same time as very dry. Not a lot of flavor. The staff were great and my cousin felt very cared for at her birthday dinner. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience at Cheeves Bros. Steakhouse was bad enough that people deserve a warning. I made a reservation in advance for my wife's birthday and requested roses to make the night special. Instead, from start to finish, the entire experience was a nightmare. We began with calamari that had to be remade and still tasted burnt and over-fried. Our server then recommended the shrimp appetizer, which arrived in under two minutes--never a good sign. The shrimp were chewy, undercooked, and already separating from the shells. Easily the worst shrimp I've ever been served. Then came the main event: two filet mignons. What arrived was nearly $200 worth of dried-out, overcooked steak that was completely inedible. They were boxed up and thrown away because no one at the table could stomach them. This is supposed to be a high-end steakhouse. In a world where places like Texas Roadhouse, LongHorn, and Three Forks consistently deliver quality, this was shocking. Charging premium prices for food of this quality feels like scamming customers. To make matters worse, I spent over $400 on this meal with a server who was barely present. I didn't cause a scene because it was my wife's birthday--but your restaurant still managed to ruin a moment that mattered to us. This experience warrants a full refund and serious attention from management. I truly hope ownership sees this and understands how badly this missed the mark. read more

Another great evening at Cheeves. Company was great, Christie behind the bar was attentive as always and the salmon... man the Cedar Plank salmon was perfectly cooked. I have been to Cheeves a handful of times and the food has always been excellent! Happy hour is several days a week and has great deals on drinks and appetizers. The service is very professional. Stopped in town to enjoy The Totality but totally enjoyed the steak and Caesar salad This was unexpected gem in a not so little town. Great service match with a cool historical place on eclipsed by really great food. I had the cheeves burger with waffle fries for dinner after my flight with my daughter and her boyfriend. Burger patty was cooked to my liking and my espresso martini was just what I needed after dealing with the airport madness. Service was a little slow but the friendly people and the owner going around mingling with the guests made up for it, I even met one of the cooks It was a nice intimate place with lighting that is not overwhelming. Did not have time to take pics since too tired and hungry, will do next time. read more

Everything was great. Firecracker shrimp were awesome, seafood fondue was excellent. All of the entrees came out together and were perfect, halibut, pork chops, filets. My parents and I frequent here a few times a year ! We always request Dezi ( spell check ). We drive up from Killeen when I'm in town from Dallas. We went to visit the day after Christmas and it was well worth it as always. The food here is amazing 10/10! We always receive amazing service. This time we had Bryan and he was amazing as well! One of the best steakhouses ever! Everything is always fresh and very tasty. They make some of the best lemon drops as well. I cannot wait until our next visit. read more

It's just inconsistent here. That's why it's "ok", which is sad because Cheeves used to be very good. Sometimes the service is lacking when it's busy. The Caesar Salad @ $10 was disappointing, expecting more quality and better sizing. The lettuce and cheese looks as if they came out of a bag, didn't have that freshness-like feel to it. The caesar dressing was not good, did not taste homemade, it tasted processed. Never again. Seafood bisque was okay, definitely not the best today but okay. Inconsistency. Both our burgers were overcooked. I asked for medium and got medium well while she got well done and wanted medium well. YAY! But the fries were good. We went back a few months ago - they were open deep into the pandemic, and wouldn't you know - they made some noticeable changes. The burgers had shrunk in size by about 15-20%. I think that was the last straw for us. Had a nice bug crawling around our table cloth - we just shoe-d it away and didn't complain. The place is so dark you can't really tell or see the any critters if they were walking around checkin' out your digs n burger n stuff. Service has always been nice here but sometimes it's slow when busy. The manager will pick up the slack and help out with is nice - when he / she does it's usually quicker. We used to frequent this place but as of late due to the disappointments we've followed their theme - - inconsistency. read more

I urge you to try this luxury restaurant!! I was treated with the utmost respect and had so much fun talking to the blonde bartender there ! I had to prayed and waited a day before posting this because the manager was apologetic and did the right thing. Let me be clear, the intent is not to hurt anyone or any establishment but rather to keep people safe. Fortunately or Unfortunately, at the end of dinner a cockroach decided to crawl onto the table and into our plate. Luckily it was the smaller species and not the giant ones or I would have vomited. No matter the size, it is disturbing and not acceptable for an establishment such as this. Diners beware. read more

Service was slow, steak was cooked to a perfect color but was cold, overpriced for everything. Salmon was trash. Tasted as though it was steamed, absolutely no texture. I asked the waitress is the truffle mac and cheese had real truffle, she said it was real truffle mixed in but that was incorrect, although it was absolutely delicious with a strong garlic aroma. Sweet potato wasn't bad at all. I was hoping the cheese cake would make things better but it too lacked any real flavor. The atmosphere there is great and quite charming. From the time we were seated to the time we finally got our food more than a hour passed. If I do go back steak and salmon would not be my first choice. read more

First time here and very underwhelmed. If you are going to serve a tenderloin for that price, at least have sharp knives if it's going to come out tougher than it should be. Decent flavor, can tell the meat is higher quality but honestly I have had steaks with flavor profiles that compete with these at Texas Roadhouse. Idaho baked potato was good but for the money it should come out hot enough to melt the butter placed on it Old fashioned was pretty good. I will not be coming back. read more

a great place for special dates. white tablecloths on the tabkes. the foid is great and the waiters do a wonderful job.

Always the best food service and atmosphere. Fresh everything. I try tho twice a month.

Appalling and embarrassing all at once. I took clients to dinner here, a group of 12. I called to make a reservation and asked for a quiet area of the restaurant as we wanted to discuss business. I was offered a private room with an up charge of $150 and I accepted that. Well there was no good reason for it because the entire restaurant was empty. Not a soul in the dining room. read more

Went here for a surprise early birthday dinner. It's one of my favorite places to eat. The entire menu is delicious and the service is superb. We ordered the Firecracker Shrimp as an appetizer. I got the Wedge Salad with blue cheese and Penne Dal Giardno. He ordered the 6 oz Filet and baked potato. Topped off with Crème Brûlée (it was a toss up between that and the Malted Chocolate Layer Cake), wished they would have still had Bananas Foster or Cherries Jubilee.
