I found this hidden gem while driving through White Bluff and wanted to check it out. Em was my server and was great and fast at refills. She even helped me decide on the wings I was ordering to take home for dinner. The BBQ pork sandwich was so delicious and stacked high. What I really want to rav about is their delicious mac n cheese which had so much cheesy flavor and worth a visit just for that. I did learn from Em that this is family owned and that they really wanted to build a very welcoming restaurant for the whole family. The outdoor area even has a spot for them fur babies. Go check them out. Always great to support locally owned.

Got to bring the pups since they are dog friendly!

I found myself over at Bellevue for dinner, 2 hours before my hockey game. I wanted quality food…read morebut not super carb heavy but also not something that could potentially wreck my stomach. After all, can you imagine having digestive problems while playing hockey? I love barbecue so I thought I'd try this place. I walked in and it wasn't at all busy at 5:32. However when I finished my order, the line was out the door. I asked the cashier what was good and the manager (maybe owner) walked over and I asked him. I wanted ribs or brisket, but needed a 2nd opinion. He said he would choose brisket because theirs is USDA Prime and he would put it against any other barbecue restaurant in Tennessee. Those are some bold words. So I ordered the brisket platter (fatty portion) with green beans and cinnamon baked apples. What I received was 3 good sized portions (1/2 pound) of fatty brisket. The meat was tender, melt in your mouth without an overbearing amount of fat clumped together. The bark was salty and very peppery. It was actually good enough to eat without a sauce. Speaking of, there was only one sauce on the table, so I used that. It was a sweet sauce, definitely honey-based but not overly sweet like other honey-based sauces I've had in the past. The thing is I love everything honey-related, so I would definitely buy this to take home. It was so good, I was scavenging for brisket fibers on my plate. So I praised the brisket but I think the shocker was the green beans. These were hands down, the best green beans I've ever had...ever. Salty, tender, peppery, with chunks of meat and fat, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. Who would have thought that a side could be that good? Last but not least, the Cinnamon Baked Apples. I love baked/fried apples. Something about the tart and sweetness brings me back every time. The apples were soft, but not mushy. I would have liked them to be a little more tender and more slices of apples. I think there was more sauce than apples but nevertheless, they were great. Overall I'm glad I visited Honeyfire for the first time. I'm here often (near Bellevue) so I'll definitely be coming back again and again.

My daughter and I recently dined at Willie Mae's Barbecue, and I can confidently say this was an exceptionally positive experience. From the first bite, the barbecue delivered a bold, authentic flavor profile that immediately resonated. The meats were tender, expertly prepared, and layered with richness that created a true flavor explosion. Every element reflected intention and skill. The selection of barbecue sauces further elevated the meal. Each sauce offered a distinctive, well-balanced profile that complemented the meat beautifully without overpowering it. The variety and quality were impressive. The live music added an energetic and welcoming atmosphere, enhancing the overall dining experience without distracting from the meal. It created a setting that felt both relaxed and vibrant. Finding barbecue of this caliber in Tennessee, especially in a smaller town like Springfield, was a refreshing and welcome surprise. Sharing the experience with my daughter made it even more meaningful. When she returns from Texas, we will absolutely be back.

Skeptical, we decided to give it a shot and folks it did not disappoint! The food was solid. I ordered the BBQ Sandwich Platter with mac and cheese and green beans as my sides. Yall...this bbq pork was solid! Great smoke, great sauce. The mac and cheese was on point. The green beans were delicious and came out piping hot. I did not partake in the fatty cakes but my buddy said the banana pudding was on point and gave me a look that I can only describe as "deeply invested" as he finished his dessert. The service was solid too. The girl working the register was knowledgable about the menu and the food pairings. I placed my order, grabbed my cup, and got myself a fountain drink...as I turned around and my buddy was finishing his order, my name was called. Before we sat down, his name was called. As far as ambiance, its exactly what you would expect of a hole in the wall BBQ spot. Appropriate decor, the smell of BBQ, and tables big enough you dont feel crammed. They have an awesome covered patio too. We sat inside because it was warm when we got there, but by the time we finished it had cooled down and there was a monsoon outside. *Special note: Primarily street parking, but there is parking on the side of the patio. Its a little tight so make sure you know how to operate a motor vehicle otherwise you'll be doing the Austin Powers 18 point turn to get it in there...

But highly specialized foreign cuisine like Indian, Vietnamese, or in this case Korean, is typically found in the big city. It doesn't just happen in random places. One would think those can't exist beyond the suburban reaches of a heavily populated area. And they preferably occur in a neighborhood with a significant ethnic population that guarantees the demand for authenticity. When I saw the phenomenal online ratings for Fat Tiger, a greatly heralded Korean joint on the periphery of the Nashville metropolitan area, way out in the countryside by city slickers' standards, I wondered if it was too good to be true. Were these ratings inflated, or was this a hidden gem people need to know about? The only way to discover the truth was to drive myself out there. Boy was that drive worth it! Fat Tiger is legit! While my standards are unreasonably lofty after eating copious dishes in South Korea on several occasions, the recipes made at Fat Tiger passed down from a Korean grandmother are spot on! Yes, it's true, some of the best Korean food in Middle Tennessee is all the way out in Dickson County!! Thank heavens for crowd-sourced review sites finding spots like this! On their recommendation, I went with the jaeyook bokkeum that I'd fallen in love with on an outing in Seoul. It's thinly shaved spicy pork marinated in a gochujang rub, pleasantly spicy but not so hot that you couldn't enjoy it. That was absolute perfection! The meat was so tender, the flavors so rich and complex without overpowering, the sauce in just the right portions. And you get so much food for the price! Now I just need to return to sample the rest of the menu! I see you, Bulgogi Loaded Fries!

Juneteenth came, and with it, another day spent staring longingly at your darkened windows. I don't imagine you'll ever read this letter, but my heart insists that I write it anyway. Ronnie's... oh, Ronnie's. I was beginning to believe again. I had visions of smoky barbecue, tender pulled pork, and the comfort only your food could bring. But every time I arrived these past months, I was met not with the smell of hickory smoke, but with locked doors and silent parking lots. My hope faded a little more with each visit. When your lights are on, the world feels right. But when I pull into the parking lot and find another "Closed" sign staring back at me, I realize that ours is a love destined to be tested by unfortunate timing. Perhaps fate simply refuses to let us be together. Perhaps I am forever cursed to crave what I cannot have. You've broken my heart more times than I care to admit. And yet, somehow, I know that if I saw your "Open" sign tomorrow, I would come running back without hesitation. Such is the burden of loving great barbecue. So I leave you with this letter--not in anger, but in sorrow. I return to you my appetite, though I suspect it will find its way back the moment your smoker starts up again. Until that glorious day, I must try to move on... though we both know I won't. Forever waiting in your parking lot, Your most loyal, and repeatedly heartbroken, customer.
