    Steak Biscuit lunch special
    Ann P.

Friendly, casual place with a great steak biscuit. Juicy and flavorful steak and the biscuit was warm and fluffy with enough substance to eat with steak. Perfect. The cucumber and onion salad side was great, too. Nope, it's not a fancy place, but definitely worth a try if you are in the neighborhood and looking for an easy, relaxed meal.

The octagon black and white tiled floor immediately sets the mood here. Service is friendly and our recent waitress was informative about their menu options. The rose latte is beautiful and tasty but somewhat forgettable. The jet james mocktail is an interesting choice with cinnamon and citrus! The soufflé pancakes are the most interesting thing on the menu. They are insanely fluffy! Soft and bouncy, but I find them to be a little too eggy in flavor. Worth trying but not ordering twice. However, the shaved prime rib sandwich makes my mouth water days later when reminiscing over those bites! The crispy toasted bread, shaved beef, and horseradish cream make my tastebuds dance. The fries and salad both pair well with the sandwich - it's hard to pick just one! I'd recommend Roze pony to somebody looking for a casual but elevated late brunch or lunch!

At first we were skeptical because the lunch menu is limited, but we decided to split the crispy chicken sandwich. Our waitress was so genial and seemed happy to be there. There are free Rose Pony post cards, as well! I will definitely come back.

The feel is like a comfortable bistro, with a soft wood tones-and plenty of natural light on the interior and a large sidewalk patio. Service was prompt and professional, as expected. Fun springtime cocktails complemented the appetizers. The take here on the cauliflower differs from downtown--tempura flash fried--but just as tasty. And the etch salad from downtown makes its appearance in the suburbs as well. But there was something lost in the translation--a bit too much of the orange ginger dressing took away the tartness of the arugula. Maybe that's how they like it in the 'burbs. Entrees were solid. Highly recommend the shrimp pasta, the chili sauce adds bite; the shrimp was perfect and the serving is generous. Unfortunately cannot lavish similar praise on the fish of the day. The grouper was well prepared, with flavor but skimpy. The blue corn grit cake was a bit dry. Good but not perfect, and there's the surprise. Fish has always been Paquette's strength since Cakewalk--yeah I date myself with that reference--so this dish just didn't meet the standard. I will treat it as a one-off and look forward to my next visit because everything else was brilliant and enjoyable.

I've lived in the Nashville area for a little over a decade now and every time I think I've seen a…read moreshow at every venue in town, I'm reminded of ones that have slipped me. The Bluebird Cafe was perhaps the biggest blind spot in my adventures as a concert goer. Thankfully for me, a can't miss opportunity arose and I was able to get tickets for it. I'm a HUGE Drive By Truckers fan and I've seen the band a dozen+ times live across the country. I've seen co-founder Patterson Hood solo a few times, but never Mike Cooley (the other co-founder) as he's simply never played live in a city I was living in or close to on a solo tour...until now. So when I saw he was doing 2 back to back shows at the Bluebird, a venue I had yet to experience, it seemed sort of kismet. I logged on when tickets went on sale and bought a great seat instantly for a very reasonable price. When I arrived, it was a bit early so I parked in the back gravel lot which was completely empty. There are Reddit scammers urging you to use Parkit and other apps to find a spot when you go to the Bluebird, but at least on this visit (a Thursday night for a sold out show) there was plenty of parking in the free gravel lot and in the lot for the adjacent bank which allows parking post 4:30...plus across the street in the Hillsboro neighborhood. If you have to Uber, there's a massive free lot at Green Hills mall 2 minutes away. Entry was easy, service was friendly. It's a cozy, warm environment. Food was good-- I ordered a "Bluebird basket" of chicken tenders and fries. I had a couple of beers and a whiskey on the rocks (Bulleit). They have a solid bar menu, some good beers (but none on tap), wine, and a few cocktail options. All reasonably priced. The show was fantastic. I love that they enforce a no-talking during the show and no late entry policy. Acoustics are fantastic. Service is friendly. Bathrooms are even clean, lol. It's a Nashville institution for a reason. See a show here.

I recently gave my team the option of where they wanted to have lunch and J. Alexander's was the winning choice by far, so off we went on a Wednesday afternoon. This location is fairly large, well laid out, well kept and clean. The atmosphere, menu, vibes and service are elevated, but not pretentious. We had a reservation and were sat fairly quickly. From there, our server was quick to swing by and get us started with drinks and appetizers. We ordered a few appetizers including the Hong Kong Shrimp and a Spinach/Queso dip. Both were delightful and great starts to our meal. The pork chops were top priority for a few of my team, so a few went with the pork chops, another the burger and I went with the steak frites. None of us regretted our choices! Sadly between the appetizers and mains, we were a bit full to have dessert, but the menu sounded great. Service was friendly and helpful, but she was a bit tough to track down when we needed something. Did not detract from the meal, but was noticeable on at least two occasions. Overall, J. Alexander's is a good spot in a good location, and I will certainly be back at some point.

I was incredibly shocked because they were both only 10 dollars and the portion sizes were huge. I got a ribeye (the 16 oz) and she got the dusted redfish. The fish was shockingly good, but it was really elevated after I squeezed a bit of lemon on it. I'm not a seafood guy but definitely a 10/10, it was incredible. Onto my ribeye. This was one of the best things I've tasted hands down. It was cooked beautifully, the char/sear/whatever you wanna call really elevated it for me. It made the steak look incredibly appealing and gave it this beautiful crust. To be honest I kind of expected it to be a bit tougher with such a well developed crust, but it was so so tender. The balance between seasoning and the juices of the steak was incredible, and I had to force myself to share it with my date and our friends (we were in a party of 6 so we shared pretty much everything.) not only that but our server was awesome. I don't remember his name but he was incredibly humorous and professional at the same time! Additionally, the atmosphere was really awesome, I'm not a big fan of dressing up but i had a formal to go to tonight and having such a great dinner spot with awesome food and service really put me in a better mood. My bill for my date and I was around 150 and some change, it was worth every penny. Seriously every penny. Being a broke high school kid, I'm not usually very eager to part with my money but the food and the service was something I'd pay double for without batting an eye. The only downside to this place was that they charge a 20% gratuity (no problem at all) but they didn't leave any where for me to leave a tip on either copies. I didn't have any cash and I was just so impressed all around that I wanted to leave a nice tip, but where the option is on the bill usually they just had a printout adding a gratuity fee to the bill. Feel free to take my review with a grain of salt because it means more ribeye for me!
