Char is a fan favorite with my friends and family! They have a great menu with options for everyone no matter what you have a taste for. This particular day, we were celebrating a new job and our server James ensured we had the best experience. He was helpful in navigating the menu and even had the bartender prepare a season cocktail I remembered from last summer! The Beefeater is my favorite thing and I HIGHLY recommend! We also enjoyed the roasted chicken as an entree and crab claws as an app. Well done Char!

I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at Char previous to this. But last night was hands down the worst customer experience I have ever experienced in my 40 years. Because I have been such a regular, I'd accumulated $180 worth of points. When I arrived I let my server know in advance I'd be using my loyalty points. He was awesome at that point and said no problem. As there to treat my friend for her birthday dinner, she arrives, we order. I got the filet, a Caesar salad, and fried green tomatoes for the table. She ordered the prime rib and a wedge salad. My filet was cooked to perfection! Her prime rib was not cooked to order, so she asked for a new one. Turns out that was the last one so she ended up with a ribeye instead. Once received cooked to perfection. We enjoyed our evening, talking and laughing. Everything went severely downhill when we got to pay. I once again thanked Deke for everything and handed him my loyalty card. We owed $30 on top of what my points covered. Barbara was going to pay that and she gave her phone number for her loyalty points for that portion. He takes everything and comes back and says because he used her loyalty number to earn points we could not use my points to redeem the dinner. Absolutely not. I once again explained to him I told him in advance that was how we were paying, and her number was for the rest. He could not have been ruder if he tried. After much back and forth, he comes back to the table, does not look at us, and THREW THE CHECK BACK. It went flying across the table. When I say threw, I mean threw. Deke should sign up for his community baseball team, great pitcher candidate. 10/10 worst service of my life. Will I be back? Yes because the food is great! But if I see that man walking toward my table I will immediately stand up and ask for a new table. Incredibly disrespectful and I will not tolerate that again. I had loyalty points because I am there so often. You shouldn't treat anyone in the fashion he demonstrated, let alone one of your most loyal customers.

Char is one of my favorite spots in Nashville. The atmosphere always feels warm and inviting, and the service is consistently attentive without being overbearing. The crab claws are an absolute must every time.

Verdict: solid food, good drinks, classy + airy atmosphere, wonderful service. They've also been consistent every time I've been. My wife and I have been here before and decided to stop by again for a quick brunch around 11-12 on a Saturday. Make sure to scan the QR code once you get inside for your parking validation! We were seated immediately and our server quickly stopped by to fill our waters and grab our drink orders. We started off with $6 Bloody Mary's, which were great. We also ordered the new cornbread with strawberry jam. My wife thought it was delicious, which is saying something because she grades cornbread very harshly. Sweet but not too sweet, with savory butter and a strawberry jam that pulled it all together. We ended it with a steak salad and steak and frites. The steak was perfectly medium and medium rare (respectively). Everything in the salad meshed well together and the truffle fries were delicious but could have been a little more crispy/thin.

The food is superb. We were there at 2:00pm on a Saturday and it was relaxing and jazzy. We started with the crab cakes and I was so pleasantly surprised. Being a coastal girl I had no expectations but every bite was all crab and delicious. The cocktails are terrific. I had the blood orange spritzer....a perfect mid-day treat. So good I chose a cocktail for dessert. The steak frites with truffle fries was cooked perfectly. What a great mid-day treat. Service started slow but it is the jazzy vibe...once we ordered the service was fantastic.

Please read the reviews about the service here! The space itself is lovely, and there was even a piano player, which set a great atmosphere. My friend made a reservation, but we were running behind and then with traffic we realized we might miss the grace period. She called ahead, and the hostess kindly assured us that they would hold our table. We were even okay to try and find something else in green hills (it was on us). So when we arrived the hostess greeted us and started to take us to our table but an auburn haired manager decided she needed to scold us for being late. Instead of welcoming us, she chose to lecture us about how being late was "unacceptable behavior." It wasn't a quick reminder; it was a condescending rant meant to put us in our place. The tone she used with my friend, an African American woman, was especially disturbing. There's a long, painful history of Black people being spoken down to in this exact way. Like being scolded or diminished, no matter their age, status, or setting. That's what this interaction felt like. We even asked if the table had been given away, could we get on the waitlist while we looked for another spot. The hostess reassured us it was saved. Sure enough, when we sat down, there were four open tables in plain view. It was clear this wasn't about logistics. It was about control and disrespect. Ryan our server was lovely but the steak needed a little more seasoning but a great "char". The mashed potatoes were bland and dry. Though our sautéed crab claws were great. Bottom line: the restaurant looks good, but the leadership's rude, unprofessional behavior is embarrassing. Save yourself the frustration. Until management changes, spend your money somewhere that actually values its guests.

Family brunch in an excellent, fine dining, with good appetizers; the PEI Mussels continue to be some of the best we've had, and the crab claws were tiny, but you get a lot of them and have excellent flavor! The salmon is done to order, and has a distinct spice to it. For dessert the Chocolate Brownie is warm and delicious. The large, full bar and extensive wine list, complement the dimly lit steakhouse atmosphere. Service was excellent, and they took care of children's orders first.

Char's food has never failed. Literally every bite of food has been phenomenal. Seafood Carbonara is AMAZING and honestly...I won't go back to the steaks that are also so good lol Drinks and service are good but not great which led to the 4 stars.

Went recently for lunch during the week. I was sad they were out of crab claws so I couldn't really decide on what to get. My boyfriend got the country fried pork chop and he really liked that. I got the Nola barbecue shrimp and grits. It had a kick to it and was pretty tasty. Our server was great too. He brought out bread for me because he said it went well with my dish. We enjoyed the crab cakes as well and we cleared up our plates. I've also gone to the weekend brunches as well and the food is always good. It's on "regular" go to spot.

Hi Hannah! We do have high chairs.

    What dress attire is acceptable?

Business casual. Not formal but a nice environment.

On one visit with only a few of us there our bartender disappeared for a good 20 minutes. Upon his return he was focused on everything but the 5 of us in the place until we finally had to ask to get service. The other visit everyone helped me but the actual server. Maybe this is a staffing problem, I don't know but being stuck for 20 minutes to order another drink with my meal is not acceptable. Although they had that check in my hand in under a minute and in under another minute to process. Again, super nicer people, but kind of oblivious. 2) Now let's talk about the kitchen. And I'm adding some input from the other diners because we all sat there waiting. - flavors are great, but the salt and spice level is overboard. I had the mushroom appetizer and nearly choked/coughed to death. I like heat but this was raw spice that overpowered the dish. And the salt about made my feet swell into balloons. Such a shame because the idea is great just poor execution - deviled eggs. Pass - BBQ Shrimp, sort of like the mushrooms right profile but overpowering - gumbo. Two other people had the gumbo and when I asked they said that too is just over spiced I want to like this place, but probably my last visit unless I just come for oysters. Sorry

Situated in the heart of Germantown, this modest yet distinguished establishment offers not only fare of exceptional quality, but also the singular pleasure of partaking in a communal table, where strangers are received as companions, an echo of a more gracious and convivial age. The fried chicken is, without exaggeration, among the most excellent in the city, and the portions are notably generous. Each accompanying dish is prepared with the utmost care and discernment, reflecting a commendable attention to detail. Having first dined here upon our arrival in Nashville, it has since secured a place of particular esteem among the establishments we hold in highest regard. This place was a wonderful little experience. We were greeted with the sign outside, "Enter as Strangers and Leave as Friends," which is one of my life philosophies. We got there right at opening, so we got seated first along with one of their years-long regulars. A friendly local lady who provided us with pleasant conversation until the next patrons arrived, who were seated right next to us at the same table, family style. Then the next people, then the next. Sitting, talking, passing the food around the table. It was a nice experience. And the ambiance was nice, too. Plain, wooden chairs, white tile flooring, vintage holiday decor, it was like being in a grandma's house. Very comforting. The food came out one or two dishes at a time. Everything was good enough, but it also was apparent that it was mass produced in a catering style. The basics like the bacon and ham were very good, but the fried chicken, I wouldn't take a big piece, save your stomach room for other things. Whatever other things you grab, make sure you grab a biscuit and get ahold of their homemade peach preserves. That stuff was 10/10 excellent. It's so good, they jar it and sell it at the front desk. I totally recommend. Overall, breakfast is one of the most important meal of the day, so if you find yourself in Nashville, I would implore you to come and check out this city staple of over 30 years now.

I was also absolutely blown away by dessert. The pâtissier is such a cheerful, nice, and incredibly talented person. Don't skip dessert. I sat at the bar as I was dining alone. Adam and Kevin were amazing. They knew every single item on the menu pretty much. and when I really think about it.... there were only two items on the menu that really stood out to me so I guess they really did the heavy lifting of the meal with their knowledge of each specific ingredient that I had questions about. I told them that I came directly from Jack Daniel's distillery in Lynchburg and they told me that the pork that they use in the Fried Carolina Gold app and Bear Creek Heritage Pork is raised with the spent grain from Jack Daniel's which I think is pretty cool to up-cycle ingredients. They immediately sold me on those dishes. Everything I got: *Give Up The Ghost (cocktail pls reference pic of menu for ingredients) *Husk Old-Fashioned (cocktail) *Late Embers Sunchoke Liqueur *Ritual Sister Smoked Pineapple Liqueur *Murder Point Oysters on the half shell *Fried Carolina Gold Rice *Bear Creek Heritage Pork *Noble Spring Chereve Mousse Both cocktails that I got were amazingly crafted but I think I go about picking cocktails the wrong way... I tend to see a few ingredients that catch my eye but then when they're not front and center I get a little disappointed? I recall enjoying the give up the ghost but It wasn't jasmine-y or yuzu-ey enough for me. It was probably really well balanced but not entirely memorable. The Husk Old Fashioned was probably a really well crafted old fashioned... maybe the best old fashioned i've ever had, but I think maybe the food just kinda out shined it / stole the spotlight. Both Liqueurs that I tried blew me away... the sunchoke was super interesting and the smoked pineapple was actually really good. Really thankful that I got to try them. The murder point oysters were okay... habanada? Is apparently a habanero bred without the heat. I wished the flavor was a little stronger on that. I guess I probably could have asked for extra sauce but didn't think about it... they probably would have accommodated too. Dang it. I also didn't really feel like the juniper came through. The carolina gold was GOLD. Holy heck, was not expecting the pork belly to be a juicy, silky, smooth, soft as sin piece of pork. It felt like.... Just pure pork fat honestly. But it was heavenly. Like... the most perfectly sous vided piece of fat. Idk if it's just my imagination or if i'm misremembering but the pork itself was cold? While the carolina gold.... Croquette? Not sure what to call it. Was piping hot. The contrast was spectacular. The sweet and spicy from the BBQ sauce and pepper jelly did wonders and idk. It really just hit. I'm not even sure why. Maybe because I wanted to like the dish because of the Jack Daniels connection. Probably because of all the contrasting sensations and textures + the crunch of the deep fried rice. Despite that, I wasn't a big fan of the pork cutlet kinda thing. The base came with some kale pesto and some charred kale... golden beets, topped with a macha salsa and some peanuts. I think that the kale pesto kinda threw off the dish and didn't quite work the way it was envisioned perhaps. The pork itself.... Was leagues below the previous dish. It's hard to imagine it came from the same hog or even same farm? I typically like macha... and don't get me wrong, this sauce was good but perhaps just wasn't feeling it with the pesto. THE DESSERT. I almost passed on this but i'm SO GLAD I DIDN'T. Noble Spring Chereve Mousse with maple, chestnut, and compressed pear. I can't stop talking about this dish. I took the first spoonful with the first pear and I felt like I was shot to heaven. It was the juiciest, most surreal bite of fruit that I've ever felt in my life. There was a crunch that felt like maybe it was slightly frozen but also bursting with juices like... crunchy boba almost or something idk wtf. I was prepared not to enjoy it as I'm not the biggest fan of chevre but it was balanced perfectly with the chestnut. Not too tart. Not too sweet. The maple granola? Ish on top provided a nice extra, different type of crunch. Actually not sweet at all. The granola complemented it perfectly by serving as the sweetener. I thought the dish only came with five pieces of pear. Imagine my joy when I dug deeper into the bowl and there was plenty. Good lord. I got the faintest hint of jasmine? From the pear... or something. I didn't know what it was but I got a chance to speak to pastry afterwards and she told me she used apple cider vinegar, OJ, and.... Orange blossom extract? Genius. I love that the menus are DATED....... I have an entire two more paragraphs but I fear I'm over the 5000 character limit.

The biscuits were overly salty and not something I wanted to finish. The cold shrimp with blood orange was an interesting combo that I surprisingly liked. I ordered the steak and while it was cooked perfectly, the portion felt small for the price. It also came with broccolini and a really good sauce. Although our bartender/server was super attentive and friendly, it did take a very long time for our entrées to come out. He even had to go check on them and ended up bringing the food back themselves. Unfortunately, mine was honestly a little lukewarm. Overall, it was just mid for me. Famous for not having a sign, finding it may be part of the adventure, but once you do, everything else is effortless. Parking is simple--just pull up and valet takes care of the rest. With a reservation, we walked right in with no wait. The most difficult part of the evening was deciding what to order because the menu offers so many tempting choices. I selected the Kvarøy Arctic Salmon, while my wife chose the Springer Mountain Farms All-Natural Chicken. Both dishes exceeded expectations. The salmon was cooked perfectly--crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside. It rested on a bed of greens with a subtle lemon flavor that paired beautifully with the fish. The chicken was equally impressive--moist, tender, and packed with flavor. What stood out most was the incredible smoky aroma that hit before each bite, making it even more irresistible. For dessert, the Blackberry Lemon Bread Pudding was the perfect finish. Soft, warm, and bursting with flavor, it was a standout ending to an already exceptional meal. From the outstanding food to the attentive service, Urban Grub delivered a fantastic dining experience. Make a reservation, enjoy the meal, and see if you can find the place.

This is my new favorite restaurant in Nashville. Everything thing I tasted was superb. The service…read morewas top notch as well. I got the crab Beignets. They were not what I was expecting but they were good. They are more like a crab hush puppy. The Alabama white sauce that came with set the beignet off!! The grits...the grits (chefs kiss). Very flavorful. The steak was good. Didn't even really need an additional sauce. White linen type of vibe. We got to sit in the VIP area/chef table. I will definitely be back!!

The small signage made it a little difficult to find inside the Marriott (see pictures), but from the moment we walked in, heard the live piano player and saw the dining area - we knew this would be a great experience. We started off by sharing orders of Lobster Bisque (see picture) and Burrata with Toast (see pictures). We really enjoyed both of them - the Lobster Bisque was so creamy and smooth and the Burrata was cool, fresh and clean. They were a great combination to start our dinner experience and I would recommend both of them. Since it was a Friday during lent, my wife opted for the BBQ Shrimp Pasta (see picture) and I went with the Daily Fish Special on Blue Corn Grits (see picture). As we always do when we go out, we shared our plates and really enjoyed both of them. The BBQ Shrimp Pasta was rich, buttery and smooth and the Fish Special was a tasty white, flaky and blackened fish served on a bed of rich, creamy blue corn grits. Here again, both are highly recommended. While it is one of your more expensive area stops for dinner, you will appreciate the food quality and presentation at Gannons Nashville for your next special occasion.
