The more I go to Centennial Cafe, the more I fall in love with it. True, it is just a ma & pa diner, so no frills. But it is a ma & pa diner and you are treated like family. The service is always inviting and everyone works together to make sure you get what you need. I get the Western Omelet, but not the combo. I don't need the homefries or grits added, but your mileage may vary. The neat thing is I still get a choice of white toast, wheat toast, or biscuits and gravy. I think we all know the correct answer to that one, right? Without the combo, it is $9 for the omelet and biscuits and gravy (see, right choice) and I add on a cup of coffee. It is possible to get out with a decent tip for about $15 to $16, although I generally go higher, as I just enjoy this place so much. If I was to say any negative, it would be diner omelets are cooked eggs with ingredients shoved in and not the way you have them at a 5 star hotel. But, I don't expect a 5 star omelet and having a meal large enough to make two meals out of is a far enough positive to outweigh any minor things like this. If you are not into hometown diner food, this one is definitely not for you. As for me, It is one of my favorite breakfasts in the city. read more

Walking through the door here is like going back in time, in the best way possible. Inside you feel like you've been transported to a small-town diner that has been around forever. The service is warm and friendly, and also attentive. The prices also feel like they are from the past. Everything on the menu is incredibly affordable. I did a double-take when I saw the prices! Any other place would easily be charging double, if not more. The interior is classic small-town diner. No frills. Just basic. But comfortable and welcoming. The food was good. I had the Sausage & Egg Sandwich with Cheese, and it was very good. Based on the other reviews I definitely want to try some of the other menu options. I guess the moral here is don't judge a book by its cover. The outside looks like nothing much at all. The inside looks a bit basic and dated. But the experience is a breath of fresh air. It reminded me of stopping in for breakfast at a local diner in a tiny town in the midwest during road trips. Authentic, reasonable, attentive service, good food. Basically just everything you need. One of the best meat and threes in Nashville. This is a small diner with no fluff and no alcohol. It's perfect for breakfast or lunch. We came for lunch on a Monday and both of us got the meatloaf. It was super tasty, moist, and delicious. Way too much for lunch, but I ate it all anyways! The cole slaw, mashed potatoes, beans, onion rings, and breads were all homemade. A solid meat-and-three diner where the locals eat. A LOT of locals. A place where the waiters know the regulars and bring drinks to the table before they get settled good, and where the locals know what's available that's not on the menu. And where strangers are welcome and treated like a local. The fried chicken was really good (moist and tender) and really crispy. The potato salad was a bit sweet for me, but still good. Coleslaw was also good - dressed with a mayo based dressing. Judging from the full parking lot and packed tables of locals - this is definitely a solid choice for a good old fashioned, home-style meal. The food was good, came out fast, and the service was great - friendly and quick with the refills. As others noted, this place has a "back in time" vibe that you wouldn't expect from the outside. The regulars greeted each other warmly and welcomed us newbies with a nod of their heads. Why 4 out 5 stars? They don't have real butter and real pancake syrup. Margarine and high fructose corn syrup seem out of place, given old style sugar dispensers, and detract from the quality food offerings. Regardless, I'd still come back. read more

It's a very unique diner filled with locals, prices are good, food isn't anything special but it's tasty and the portions are more than you'd expect, you definitely won't leave hungry. I do recommend it! Once you enter you'll notice the floor tilts to the back of the building, we found this just adds to the quaintness of the diner, lol. This is my favorite breakfast place in all of Nashville for some good home cooked vibes. Their lunch is also very good! It is easy to walk to if you live anywhere in the Nations. A pretty busy place with a diner vibe, I mostly do takeout from there now. There is no bike rack but when I pick up I leave my bike on side of building and never have an issue. If your looking for a fancy brunch experience in Nash look somewhere else. If you are looking for good food and chill vibes this is your spot. read more

We enjoyed this down home diner - especially after getting all the tourist spots the day before. It was good to eat real food with good people. My husband and our friends had cooked to order breakfasts while I opted for the catfish after seeing on another table. While they enjoyed their food, I felt like i won the food lottery. Food is always good. Service is awesome! I normally call a order in and pick up because it's always a big order. I love their ham and cheese omelettes for breakfast. Cheeseburgers and tots or a grilled chicken salad for lunch. Everyone at my work loves this place! Parking lot is very small and the back lot (which I don't think the restaurant owns) is very rough. Finally, I find a place that isn't worried about being Instagram-worthy in Nashville!! I LOVE this place and its character. It's honestly the first place I've been to in Nashville (and I've been here for six years now) that has the same feeling as a cutesy diner in The Strip District in Pittsburgh (where I'm from originally). From the minute we walked in, we were welcomed. We took a seat underneath the vent and ended up moving because it was so chilly! So, unless you want to shiver during your entire meal, avoid that table hahah. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast, and it did not disappoint! Sometimes, you gotta eat the best hangover food even when you're not hungover, and this rainy day was the perfect time to do so. You can't walk in here expecting fancy eggs benedict, which I appreciate so much because you can feel how hard everyone works in this place to enjoy the food even more! The prices -- for Nashville -- are insanely amazingly cheap. For two people, our bill was about $15. That's normally what I spend on one drink at a rooftop bar LOL. Got up way too early for an appointment and ended up here based on, what else, yelp reviews. Nothing fancy here; just good old fashioned honest neighborhood diner. Good tasty food and efficient service with a smile. My order came out within 5 minutes. And the prices can't be beat. Even though they start at 0700, the place was nearly packed inside by 0730 (the small parking area was beyond full of work trucks) with the phone orders keeping the staff busy. Most customers seemed to be local workers. read more

No flairs, just good food! Small, modest restaurant that we luckily stumbled upon while visiting Nashville. Service was friendly and efficient, food was delicious, and the prices were beyond reasonable. They were also able to accommodate our party of 12 Immediately, and they handled it like pros! Unpretentious, home cooking served with a smile and courtesy. Breakfast and lunch. Traditional "meat and three" lunch specials. Responsive to special requests. I like my eggs scrambled very soft, and that's how they bring them! Nothing fancy, nothing highly spiced or unusual. Breakfast is my favorite meal, so when I arrived in West Nashville a couple hours early for a morning appointment, I went looking for a place to get a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. Google turned up Centennial Cafe at the top of the list, so I drove over (less than 10 min from John Tune Airport) -- and I'm glad I did! Super friendly staff, lightning fast service, and truly excellent food! Recommended wholeheartedly! read more

Wow!! I stopped in here because it's near my worksite for the week. Super friendly and fast service. Classic breakfast foods at fair prices. The biscuits alone would be worth a drive, and the lightly seasoned gravy is excellent. I visited late morning on a weekday and the two owners / chefs were serving up timely eats to a nearly-full dining room of 25. Recommend you stop in! read more

We loved this place! My husband and I were on vacation this week in Nashville and needed a good breakfast before exploring the town. This was the closest place so we gave it a shot. Ended up going back the next two mornings making it 3 days in a row! The staff is very friendly and the food is fantastic! Where else can you get 2 perfect eggs over easy, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 hash brown triangles AND two biscuits with gravy for $6.99? One morning I tried the pancakes and they were huge and so fluffy. One morning we had a late start, 10:45, so my husband went for a double cheeseburger and it was huge and perfectly cooked. It gets busy in waves but we were able to get in and out in less than 30 minutes each day. We witnessed many takeout orders if you call ahead or take it with you. What a find! read more

Was in West Nashville, thought I would try something local and new. Found the Centennial Cafe on Yelp, and am so glad I did! The menu isn't extensive, but what they had was so, so good. The biscuits were smack-your-mama delicious, the gravy I was licking out of the bowl, the hash brown casserole put the one at that chain restaurant to shame, and the bacon? Meaty and perfectly crisp. But what made this place so cool were the servers. Two young ladies who knew how to work a room better than any lounge act. These ladies were fast, efficient, and so friendly. You could tell the regulars treasured them. Very much looking forward to going back and trying their spaghetti and other weekly specials. read more

I stopped by one morning to enjoy a little breakfast. This is nice meat & three type place. It reminds me of a cafeteria. Service was nice and quick and food was good as well. They serve grits too, of course. I had some eggs over medium and some sausage (patties) and my friend had the 1/2 country ham (which was plenty!) I will definitely be back to try lunch! read more

I only got to-go from here bc a coworker was picking up food for us so I don't really have any comments on service or atmosphere. I am a sucker for anything corned beef or Reuben style so when I saw they had that with an egg, I jumped on that! It surely did not disappoint. I'm pretty sure I licked and picked everything off my aluminum foil wrapper. It was so tender and flavorful and the egg was a great addition. The price of it wasn't bad either, pretty sure it was less than $5. Definitely need to go back and sit to try more. read more

Rose sign go up, we were absolutely pumped to have one of our favorite spots coming to our end of town! This location anchors a small plaza and is deceivingly large. Upon entry you walk into the large space that holds the host(ess) stand, waiting area to the left with a few games and cocktail tables, then it opens up to the bar and the main dining area...if you walk through this area and take a hard left it opens up into even more seating...then you hit the door and wander into a delightful two-spaced patio! All the spaces have the M.L. vibe, they did not miss a beat there...but what this location does have that others do not is the large-suspended owl in the dining space leading to the patio. A cool piece for sure! We have no absolute favorites at M.L. as we have sampled our way through the menu across the city. A few go-to's are the chicken nachos and Sgt. Pepper burger, both absolute legends and always delish! I do also enjoy the wings, even though the price of $22 for 12 gives a bit of sticker shock. Recently tried the Brussels and they were tasty as well. Of course, the bar is always on point as well. The taps are flowing and the beers on rotations are always solid. Parking here is plentiful on both sides of the building. As long as you are in and out within 2 hours it is complimentary, but the main lot is a pay lot. Service was great from entry to exit. No issues at all. Overall, super pumped to M.L. in the neighborhood - We will quickly become regulars!
