Fried Ribs
Thuy Dan T.

I would guess this may be the best BBQ in Nashville! We ordered at the counter and then find a seat, and there is an outdoor patio too. There is a couple of parking spot available and we were lucky to snag one! Otherwise street parking is available. What we ordered: + Pork rinds - very crunchy, nice and light, good seasoning. Dip it in the mac & cheese and its perfection. + Full rack dry rubbed ribs - the center was good tasty! A nice dry rub, and was juicy. The ends were a little dry but that's expected. + Jalapeno cheddar sausage - delicious taste and good texture, slightly juicy. + Smoked Green Beans - was OK, had a good taste and are on the softer side + Mac and cheese - very creamy and more smooth. I liked the shell pasta shape here too! + BBQ beans - strong BBQ flavor, also on the softer side + Special was the fried pork ribs - I would stick to the dry rubbed personally. Overall a tasty meal and plenty to share with 4 people!

This was a short walk from our hotel, so an easy spot to pick especially since we eat a lot of BBQ. Nice outdoor seating on a large deck and lots of seating inside. Order up at the counter and they call your name when its ready. Friendly staff taking and handing out the orders. The bar is on the opposite side, also order there. Guy behind the bar was ok, more intent on closing duties than being very helpful. I went for the chicken wings with green beans. They were LARGE! I got four full wings and a generous portion of smoked green beans. The wings were crispy which is a must in my book and lots of rub for great flavor. What took top billing for me were the green beans, I loved them! Great smokey flavor, I couldn't stop eating them. Great meal, in a pleasant space. good stuff!

Went on a Friday night. Line was about a 10-15 minute wait to order. Waited about 10 mins for food at the window. Food was served hot, and tasted great. I had pulled pork and my husband had the ribs. I love that they let you sauce on your own. Their homemade sauce was also delicious. Kool-aid pickles also hit! I think parking in the area at dinner time was the hardest part. With so many places in Nashville I would try something new next time. However if you are in the area, worth visiting. I love that it's family owned and ran (not part of a chain.)

Half rack dry rub ribs, DELISH!!!

Our first time visiting Nashville (where my daughter now lives) we wanted to try a great BBQ place!! We found a gold mine!! Food was FANTASTIC! Staff & service was super friendly and the ambiance was great!! My husband who's a chef even got a quick tour to the kitchen and back to the Masterpit!! He loved it!! I highly recommend this place if you're in Nashville!

I've been to Nashville many times, but this was my first time coming to Peg Leg Porker and it was a nice visit! It's the typical "TX style" BBQ joint, with many tables inside, concrete/cinder block walls, a walkup counter to place your order, and a soda fountain to fix your own drink. But they only serve pork and chicken here, no beef. I asked the lady at the cashier what was best and she suggested the pulled pork sandwich, which I got. I saw they had mac & cheese and asked her what she thought of it... she said it was great, so I got it. I got their fries, since they offered crinkled cut fries and I also got an order of their smoked/baked beans, as I love baked beans. The sandwich was amazing - 10 out of 10! The baked beans looked like they were watery and bland, but WOW, that flavor floored me... 11 out of 10! The mac & cheese looked and tasted like Velveeta Shells & Cheese - I wasn't impressed... 3/10. Lastly, their crinkle cut fries were luke warm and soft... 2/10. Overall, it was a nice visit and I'd most definitely return. Their sauces were just OK, but the combination of the great pork and beans was something I found satisfying.

Half chicken, potato salad, baked beans

Great meats being smoked here at Peg Leg. My chicken was extremely moist and flavorful. The potato salad was delicious and the baked beans were scrumptious. Plenty of parking and the bathroom was clean. Tons of beer and spirit options. Definitely coming back next time I am in Nashville.

I liked the BBQ, but it wasn't by far the greatest I've had. Don't worry, you will still get some tasty food, but I don't understand the line. I was there in December so it might have a whole other vibe when it's warm, but I thought the place was ok. It gets 4 stars because the food was good, the portions were generous, and the service was pretty excellent for a BBQ place. I don't know if Tennessee BBQ is well known, but it didn't knock my socks off like other places. Of course I will come back. If this is an icon, might as well check it out. I can safely say that it will be worth your time

Half rack, 1/3 lb pulled pork, Jalepeno cheddar sausage, mac and cheese, coleslaw

Dry rub ribs were good, jalapeño cheddar sausage was great, pulled pork was bad. The sides were just okay also. Was expecting more based on the reviews. The Alabama style white bbq sauce was good. Make sure to ask for some when you pick up your order.

Peg Leg Porker in Nashville was a solid find. I actually came across it on Nashville's own recommendation site and it lived up to the hype for the most part. We ordered the Yardbird Platter with mac and cheese and potato salad. Coming from Texas, my expectations for BBQ are pretty high. The chicken really delivered. It was smoked beautifully, had a great smoky flavor, and was not dry at all. The seasoning they put on it is subtle but it really brings everything together and makes the chicken stand out. The sides were a bit more hit or miss for me. The mac and cheese is a shelled chipotle mac and cheese. I get that they are going for something a little different, but it missed the mark in terms of that rich cheesy and salty comfort flavor I usually look for in mac and cheese. It was fine, just not what I'd call great. The potato salad really comes down to preference. It is a white, vinegar based potato salad instead of the yellow mustard style that a lot of Texas BBQ joints serve. That kind of tangy, mayo and vinegar profile just is not my favorite, so it was not really my thing. If you are someone who prefers a classic yellow mustard potato salad, I would probably suggest skipping the potato salad here. The sauce, on the other hand, was a nice surprise. It is definitely a different take on BBQ sauce than what I am used to in Texas, but it paired with the chicken really well and tied the plate together. Staff were friendly, the place was clean, and it stayed busy while we were there. I can easily see why Peg Leg Porker is so well loved in Nashville. I would absolutely go back for the chicken and sauce, and maybe try some different sides next time.

I'm not really a pork person but when in Tennessee you gotta try it, right? Luckily the place was practically empty, it was a Friday around 4pm. Well unfortunately straight off upon entering the cashier was not welcoming or friendly. She looked like she was annoyed to be there, didn't greet us and made us feel like our questions were a nuisance. We are from out of state and it was our first time yet she had no helpful recommendations. I asked if the potato salad was sweet and she just blurted out, "it's made with mayo!" Like ok... she was a big girl in leopard leggings, so um yea, check your employees... after that I didn't even want to eat there anymore. Like I said I'm not much of a pork or barbecue person so I wasn't impressed but my husband said it was just ok. Either way the cashier ruined my experience.

parking was easy, service was excellent, all the staff are so sweet !! The place is super cute inside, all the trophies from winning BBQ contests are on display. The food was FIRE, did NOT disappoint, especially loved the slaw and baked beans, the meat was amazing too. The sushi was actually delicious!! Will be back !

These ribs are some of the best I've tried

While in TN we had one of those meals at @peglegporker in Nashville, TN -- the kind you dream about later and maybe even tear up a little because Nashville isn't closer. If you take anything from this post, let it be this: get the rib platter. It's huge (more than enough to share!) and those ribs literally fall off the bone. Perfectly smoky, unbelievably tender, and even better when paired with their spicy BBQ sauce. Absolute heaven. The surprise standouts? The potato salad -- creamy, tangy perfection The Kool-Aid pickles -- sweet, punchy, and addictively fun And of course we couldn't leave without something sweet... their homemade banana pudding was the perfect Southern send-off to an already unforgettable meal. If you find yourself in The Gulch in Nashville, do yourself a favor and stop by Peg Leg Porker. Your taste buds will thank you.

I found myself in Nashville with lunch on my mind and time in my side. So many bookmarks I have in Nashville that it is hard to choose where to go. I must have well over a hundred here. I've been stalking Mr.Bringle and his BBQ joint for a while now. BBQ was the bookmark winner for this day! Excited to arrive and dig into this man's que, I headed straight to the counter and ordered the Combo Platter. It had all the meats he had available I think. I wanted to try it all and knew there was no way I was knocking this out by myself. It had pulled pork, a half chicken, a jalapeño cheese sausage, and a half rack of ribs. I misread the website I guess and thought it came with sides, so I ordered beans and mac as a side. When she charged me I was confused and she set me straight that the "combo" did not include sides. I removed them as they would have just taken belly space that I did not have to spare. I added a bottle of hot bbq sauce and white bbq sauce to my order and paid. It's funny to me that they prompt for a tip, even when they offer no assistance at all. Get your drink, get your utensils, get your sauce, find a table, get your ass back up to get your food when they scream your name. Better not get caught slipping or they will shout at you on the loudspeaker. That part of this equation sucks. When you're done you'll also need to sort your own dishes and trash as well. Seems fair... I missed my name and they screamed at me over the PA even though I was four feet away. They really could just walk about and politely find me. It was maybe 25% full. It's a dumb method. I get it. It's the BBQ way I suppose. Got my tray of food and was pretty stoked to try it all! Ribs were fair in my opinion. A bit dry and I had to use a knife to get them away from each other. They would not separate without shredding and leaving meat behind. Nice flavor, and I do like ribs with a little bite to them, but these were dry and slightly tough to eat. Half chicken was even dryer. Zero moisture at all. I choked a bit on the breast meat. What made it worse was the soggy skin situation. I only ate a few bites. Hard pass next time. Pulled/chopped pork had great flavor and was decently moist. It was in chopped sized small pieces, but I got some good bark and crispy bits inside for extra flavor. I like this with the hot sauce a good bit. In fact I like all of the sauces. Sausage was my favorite thing on the tray. I am not sure if they make them here or not, but I really liked it a lot. It was juicy, cheesy, spicy, and had a great snap to the casing. It was a really good sausage. I will pay another visit at a later date. BBQ is a tough game and things are hard to control with time, temps, and availability. I get it. My experience is mine though... '25 - 81/111

The turkey was smoked to perfection and was a huge portion. The mac n cheese had a great breadcrumb topping. Great Spot For Barbecue…read more I stopped into Edleys on Lebanon Pike to try out some of their barbecue dishes. This location is close to BNA and hotels near the airport. Edley's has locations in Nashville and other areas of Tennessee. On this visit, I was looking for something different from my usual barbecue staple,s which are brisket, ribs and steaks. I ordered the Chicken Platte,r which comes with half a smoked chicken, a side of beans, coleslaw, corn bread and pickles. The chicken was very flavourful and was a very healthy portion, and I was almost unable to try the beans and the cornbread. Overall, it was a decent-sized meal that I was barely able to finish. Edleys makes great chicken, and I would try it again if I have a chance to go back.
