Ribs that were rubbery, pulled pork that was so dry we threw it out and cold fries with koolaid pickles
    Jennifer K.

NO CLUE how this has good ratings, unless most folks are tourists ( no offense) that haven't had actual good BBQ. It's cute but.... I can't think of a worse, more fast food ish service taste and over priced meal that I've had since my mother in law cooked. Best thing we ordered was kool aid pickles. Sad. A waste of $75 Please save your money and head to literally any other BBQ joint.

I stopped by Peg Leg Porker after reading all the hype about their pulled pork sandwich, but I actually had my heart set on brisket. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find out they don't serve brisket at all, and since I arrived at 4:00 PM, they were completely sold out of ribs until 5:00 PM. Not wanting to wait around for an hour, I pivoted and ordered the smoked chicken, baked beans, and french fries. Here is how the meal stacked up: * The Smoked Chicken: This was the star of the show. It was incredibly good, and I'm pretty sure they gave me a generous half-chicken. Not sure what type of seasoning they use but it's a pretty good dry rub. For a total of $20 for the whole meal, I think the portion made it worth the price. * The Sauces: I paired the chicken with their hot barbecue sauce, and it definitely has a real kick to it! I absolutely loved it, but if you aren't big on heat, they do have a mild option available. * The Baked Beans: Very flavorful and loaded with real chunks of bacon. Word of warning: they serve them piping hot. They were probably boiling when they went into the Styrofoam cup, and I almost burnt my tongue lol. I had to let them cool down for at least 10 minutes before diving in, but they were worth the wait. * The French Fries: The weakest link of the meal. You can definitely tell they aren't homemade - they seem like standard frozen fries that are just deep-fried and tossed with some salt. The Takeaway: If you're looking for a traditional BBQ joint with a massive variety of sides, sausage, and brisket, you might find the menu a bit limited. The variety isn't massive, but what they do do, they do well.

When we want Ribs but don't have time to make them ourselves, we head to Peg Leg Porker!! Everything there is top notch & we've never been disappointed.

Very solid choice for bbq. Wanted to check out a Nashville popular BBQ spot and found this on Yelp. Got the sampler to share with my friends. Wasn't omg the best I've ever had but super solid. And it was fast so that is a bonus

We could not believe that this place was being ranked as one of top BBQ spots in Nashville. We ordered the combo, which came with 4 different meats and the price was not bad. However, The meat was dry and bland, the dry rub was also meh. Coming in we understood it was a family run business and we would love to support but there wasn't even any service. We picked up our own food, got our own drinks and cleaned up after ourselves. So really unsure what we're tipping for to be honest. The sides were the only savor of this place.

Service was good and the food came out pretty quick. The ribs were alright and same with the wings. I just felt like it was a little dry and you need to eat it the bbq sauce the entire time. The place looks like it gets pretty busy and can be loud at times.

Got a chance to try ribs in Nashville and mann... now I totally see why they were voted some of the best ribs in Nashville because WOW they were delicious The ribs were super flavorful, tender, and honestly a half rack was more than enough to share with someone else... unless you're really trying to food coma yourself The BBQ beans were sooo good and the green beans were surprisingly delicious too. Everything paired perfectly together. The whole place is such a vibe! I loved how open and spacious it was. There's seating inside, outside, and even another floor with more tables, so it definitely feels like the perfect spot for big groups, friends, or family hangouts. I didn't get a chance to try their alcoholic drinks this time, but honestly I'm just happy I got to experience this place while visiting Nashville The service was quick, easy, and everyone was super kind. The southern hospitality here is seriously A1 Thank you Peg Leg Porker for such a great experience! I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town

This was pretty good! The line can be long but goes quickly and food was pretty quick. You put in your order first then pick up, so no real waiting. Staff was nice and helpful w/ questions. Seating can be a pain b/c it's smaller and in a tourist city so people will claim seating before they get their food. Indoor and patio seating. Hard to get around the space due to limited footprint and trying to pack in as much table and seating as possible. Thankfully food comes out so fast there's a good turn over flow I think. I remember the ribs bein great, max sorta on the plain side, beans were good I recommend. I enjoyed the jelly and cheese app. The chicharron's weren't my type so it was a miss for me. Pudding was ok.

The food was very tasty. Quick service and plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. The sampler is your best bet. Free soft drink with order.

Food was fresh, well seasoned. My Barkeep was great help me in Selecting a great lager, Black Abbey Lager. Atmosphere was a great a relaxing experience.

Got the half rack of ribs with green beans and mac n cheese. The ribs were very meaty, with a great dry rub. The rub was a hint sweet and great flavor by itself, though I did use some of the mild sauce as well. The sides were both delicious, and overall it was a lot of food. I could've done with a 1/3rd rack. The staff was friendly and the walls had lot of awards they've won.

1/2 rack dry rub ribs. Pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, baked beans, Mac n Cheese, French fries
    Lisa S.

You order at the counter and wait for your name to be called, which doesn't take long. We had a pulled pork sandwich with was juicy and tender. The ribs are the dry rub and the seasoning hit all the taste buds. The meat was tender and fell off the bone. Difference of opinions on the Mac and Cheese, I felt it was to liquid and my husband said they were perfect and cheesy. We both agreed on the backed beans and coleslaw are a must order.

We came to Peg Leg Porker to dry their Memphis style ribs we heard lots about. When you step in you see all the trophies and awards they have won for their bbq. We ordered a half rack of ribs and a peach fried pie. The ribs were solid and the meat was fell off the bone with each bite or when pulling the individual ribs off the rack of ribs. The ribs weren't very tender which may have been due to the cut we got or maybe most of the fat was trimmed off during prep. Memphis style bbq uses a dry rub rather than wet. The rub at Peg Leg Porker was decent, but during our trip we tried another bbq restaurant called Martin's whose dry rub I prefer. The peach fried pie was solid, it reminded us of a toaster strudel. The service was quick as we got our food very fast. There is a lot of indoor seating and a good amount of outdoor seating as well. The noise level was moderate, which allows you to have a conversation with your party without having to yell. I would consider coming back the next time I'm in town to try some of their other offerings.

Ask the Community - Peg Leg Porker

Is there parking? What's been tricky about visiting Nashville has been parking or lack thereof.

Yes. There is a public lot maybe 500 feet away where you can scan the QR code on the walls and pay by mobile phone

Are all the ribs dry rub, or do they wet as well?

They are only dry rub. There is a very good sauce available on the table. But they only cook with the rub. I knocked some of the rub off and put some of the table sauce on…

I'm guessing my the menu they don't serve brisket do they?

No, but they do at the sister restaurant. Bringles Smoking Oasis

    Do you serve any alcohol?

Yes there's a bar. You stand in line to order food and you go back when your number is called. The bar is separate

Can you do reservations or is it first come first serve?

First come first serve. The line goes pretty quickly.

Do you have any vegetarian options besides French fries?

Vegetarian yes- mac n cheese, potato salad, etc. Not vegan

Is there a line? How early do you need to get there?

The line moves quickly even when it's out the door. Lunch time is busy.

Do you have a Combo plate of ribs and say pulled pork? Thanks.

Ee don't per say but my cashiers can put one together for you.

Do you have a patio which would allow dogs?

    Yes

Is there a gluten free menu?

The majority of our items are Glueten free.

    Is there a wine menu?

We have some boxed wines and then a Hogwash rose.

You've got the Jack Cawthon's legendary…read moreJack's Bar-B-Que, pitmaster Carey Bringle's incomparable Bringle's Smokin' Oasis, and then you have Edley's. For the longest time, Bringle's was my absolute favorite in town, but Edley's may have just managed to take the crown. I almost feel like I'm cheating on Mr. Bringle by saying that, but as he famously put it, "You don't have to hate somebody else's barbecue to like mine." My default order at any top-tier joint is either a brisket plate or a multi-meat combo platter with brisket as the anchor. Edley's plates come properly equipped with two sides and a slice of cornbread. Where they really set themselves apart, though, is the menu flexibility: -The Add-Ons: You can throw on a $5 upcharge to add an extra 3 oz of meat or a jalapeño cheddar smoked sausage. -Burnt Ends: Edley's offers burnt ends, which is a bit of a rarity in town and something you don't easily find over at Jack's or Bringle's. If they're available when you order, grab them. Price-wise, Edley's isn't cheap, but it's far from overly expensive. It sits at fair market value, costing roughly what you'd pay for a comparable meal at any of the other major players in Nashville. The meats are high quality, wonderfully smoked, and packed with deep flavor. Beyond the rare burnt ends, the sauces here are what truly elevate the meal. Across the board, Edley's house sauces--from their classic red to their white sauce--are probably my personal favorites in the city. Between Jack's, Bringle's Smokin' Oasis, and Edley's, you genuinely cannot go wrong--Nashville barbecue is in great hands. But right now? Edley's holds my top spot. It is my ultimate "treat yourself" meal in town.

I had the brisket tacos, which were flavorful, though a little dry. I am giving grace here because it was takeout and possibly was much more moist prior to transport. I did like how the toppings brightened things up: cheese, slaw, pico de Gallo, bean salad, and fried jalapeños. I also had the Nashville hot link, a smoked sausage with house made spicy pimento cheese and pickled jalapeños. It was indeed pleasantly spicy. We shared some fries, which were hot, crisp, and well seasoned. They also have ribs, wings, bbq nachos and fries, fried pickles, bbq chicken and turkey, various sandwiches and platters. They also offer Nashville's staple hot chicken in platter, sandwich, and taco form. Catfish is another option, in all the same varieties. Sides: cornbread, Mac & cheese, baked beans, green beans (in bone broth and bacon). Cold sides such as bean salad, potato salad, Cole slaw. They also have a couple desserts and salads available, as well as a kids menu. Very affordable, as we got meals for 15 people for only 230 dollars.
