My hotel was within walking distance from the Assembly Food Hall and I made plans to visit once we had a lunch break. First time here, I ordered Tenders (Hot) and a lemonade. The tenders, wow. The heat level has me sweating and I only have ninety minutes to knock it out. The chicken is cooked well and juicy, even though the spice level is on the high side. This is a well cooked chicken, some people enjoy this brand over the other Nashville chicken spots. In Nashville for the first time. We were in the food hall and saw Prince's. My husband said we had to try the hot chicken while we were here. We were there near mid to end of lunch on a Tuesday. There was a short line. The lady that waited on us was great. She was very helpful in our choices. We both got the medium, she described it as jalapeños heat. Nashville is renowned for their hot fried chicken. With a couple of hours to catch our plane, on our walk back from the Capitol District my brother and I planned to either eat at Hattie B's Hot Chicken or Prince's Hot Chicken. As usual the line for Hattie B's was crazy long as usual. So, we ascended the escalator upstairs to the Assembly Food Hall where we had Prince's Fried Chicken. It would be my last meal of the Nashville 2025 vacation. There was a small line for Prince's Chicken that moved fast. Unlike Hattie B's downstairs, it was in an air conditioned indoor climate. Because the Assembly Food Hall is cashless, a credit card was necessary. They texted my brother and I when the food was ready. I ordered the Andre Chicken Sandwich. It is a boneless chicken breast between a Hawaiian roll complemented with dill pickles and cole slaw. At the counter they gave me a choice of my spicy heat level. I chose hot. They give you a choice of What is cool is that they have a model of two chicken sandwiches with one overflowing with sweet heat sauce and the other kicken ranch sauce. I chose the latter. I was impressed with the sandwich. It was more flavorful than spicy. It was on the sticky side which required napkins.The Andre Chicken Sandwich which included a small bowl of coleslaw was worth $12. With the sandwich, I enjoyed crispy fries which cost $3. They were solid fries. Between bites of the food and conversation with my brother, I sipped Coke Zero. It also cost $3 and was bottomless. My order came out correctly and the tenders were ordered as medium. I was glad that I ordered ranch sauce because there was a definite kick to the sauce which I really liked. As one of the most recommended hot chicken spots in, we had to give this spot a shot. This location in the food hall was particularly busy where you order at the counter, then wait on the side. We came during a Friday lunch and the wait after ordering was around 30 min. We got the 3 whole wings in XHot and the chicken sandwich in xxhot. The xhot was quite hot and we probably should have went down one level. Very smoky heat and more oily than flavorful? The chicken skin was not super crispy and the chicken itself was just OK to me. We were visiting from out of town and heard that Prince's and Hattie B's are the best for hot chicken sandwiches. Thankfully both are right here (one inside the food hall and one on the outside of the food hall) and from an out-of-towners perspective Prince's was the better bet! What a let down! I've heard this is the original hot chicken and in my opinion it's been the worse. I'm sure there has to be an actual sit down restaurant somewhere but the closest one to us was at this food court. There was no line at all and that alone was a red flag. The original hot chicken, but not the original location. I ordered a medium hot chicken sandwich and a strawberry lemonade. The line to order was very short, but the line to pick up was very long. The order took about 20 minutes. The sandwich was a normal size, not huge, not tiny. It had pickles in it and the tiniest side of coleslaw. The coleslaw came in those small sauce containers. It was just one bite of coleslaw; I wish I had more. The chicken sandwich was good if the chicken was on the thick side. Our chicken was thick in the middle, but tapered on the edges, so the edge chicken was a bit dry. The center was tender and juicy though! This is the food hall location of Prince's which, obviously, isn't the original location. But no excuses. They don't give you a discount for not going to the original spot. The food was fine but, honestly, the chicken was dry and not juicy at all. I tried the Andre sandwich at a spice level of "hot" and it was mildly spicy at best. I will say the crinkle fries were very well seasoned and delicious. You get a lot of food with the kids meal. If you are ok with dry chicken, this is a good value item. The line is much shorter than at Hattie B's, which is almost literally outside the front door. So excited to try the famous Prince's Hot Chicken. I ordered a salad with mild chicken, accompanied by macaroni and cheese and fries, of course, with ranch dressing. The legendary progenitor of hot chicken has made its mark in the Assembly food hall and it's pretty hype. The first stall as you walk upstairs, it screams order me, and so I did. Lots of people order the chicken tenders and those orders seem to come out pretty fast. I got hot spice level wings with some fries and it took them some time to make it but was clearly fresh when it came out. The chicken wings are plenty meaty and big and that bite with the heat definitely kicks you in the back of the throat. It's definitely more of a dry spice than the mud like lava from many other Nashville hot joints but it hits harder. I have a pretty good spice tolerance but this got feels hotter than the ones at other shops. The fry and juiciness of the chicken was also on point. Also don't sleep on the fries. Crinkle cut done right was perfectly crispy and crunchy and the spice dust seasoning on top is amazing. You can taste how they fry everything fresh as the order is placed which is all the more reason to love Prince's.
