Hot chicken
Zack W.

I'm one of many tourists reviewing this, so I only have some much context. A lot of reviews are saying it has varying quality but I can say I got what I came here for! Chicken was flavorful and good, a bit pricey but overall solid. Better than most chicken I've had anywhere and would still recommend Didn't wait too long and it's a food court so I just found a table nearby

Nashville Hot chicken history

Checked this place out inside of Assembly Food Hall and was pleasantly surprised. They claim to have the original hot chicken. Their tenders lived up to the name, very tender and the heat level was great. Prices weren't the worst, considering it was downtown and the service was quick. Hattie B's is another well known hot chicken just down the street from this and it's worth having a try of both to see which is best !

We still prefer Prince's hot chicken to Hattie's B, flavor is juicier and love the atmosphere in the food hall.

We wanted to try the original Nashville Hot Chicken. The Assembly Food Hall was crowded but not too bad. There was no line to order but quite a wait to receive your food. My order came out correctly and the tenders were ordered as medium. I was glad that I ordered ranch sauce because there was a definite kick to the sauce which I really liked. The fries were cooked perfectly as well. We found a seat in the food hall pretty easily. Napkins were on the table which was nice and the soda station was easy to access and it was nice to have free refills.

Very busy place. Good juicy chicken. Didn't know what to expect. I think I prefer more saucy chicken. They gave one sauce option (ranch) for four piece chicken tenders. The "HOT" was hot enough for me. They charge 50 cents for extra sauce. Would come back.

Located in the food hall right on Broadway. I wanted to try hot chicken while in town but didn't want to wait on the Hattie B's line downstairs. This was a good option. About a dozen people on line ahead of me but they moved quickly. Simple menu. Choose your heat level. I got which is definitely hotter than what I can get back home. Fries were average. Nice spot to sit and grab a casual meal.

It's definitely a Nashville must try. I'm glad that we were able to get it, and the line wasn't bad once you got into it. The chicken was spicy for getting a medium level of spice, and I know I can tolerate spice. But, next time, I would probably get a lighter spiced chicken (mild). The mac and cheese helped cool my mouth down and the pie was a great dessert to finish off the meal!

As one of the most recommended hot chicken spots in, we had to give this spot a shot. This location in the food hall was particularly busy where you order at the counter, then wait on the side. We came during a Friday lunch and the wait after ordering was around 30 min. We got the 3 whole wings in XHot and the chicken sandwich in xxhot. The xhot was quite hot and we probably should have went down one level. Very smoky heat and more oily than flavorful? The chicken skin was not super crispy and the chicken itself was just OK to me. You don't get any sauces included in the order which I feel like is a crime for hot chicken (at least one!). The sando was needed more sauce/pickles in my opinion. It was on the drier side. XXHot was more tolerable in a sandwich vessel.

We were visiting from out of town and heard that Prince's and Hattie B's are the best for hot chicken sandwiches. Thankfully both are right here (one inside the food hall and one on the outside of the food hall) and from an out-of-towners perspective Prince's was the better bet! The sandwich was deliciously crispy but the way it was cooked and the sauce on that bad boy will have me thinking about it for weeks to come when I'm on the opposite coast. We went twice we loved it so much. Pro tip: you can order online to skip the line. There are plenty of places to sit down as it's a food hall but it gets busy. I can't comment on parking as we walked here.

Prince's Hot Chicken did not disappoint. Tried the chicken burger with sweet heat sauce and XX hot, plus fries -- absolutely finger-licking good. The heat was real but balanced, the flavor came through, and every bite delivered. The fries were crispy and the perfect sidekick. Overall: It was the bomb. Spicy, satisfying, and worth every bite.

Not even the good ranch to go with it...

What a let down! I've heard this is the original hot chicken and in my opinion it's been the worse. I'm sure there has to be an actual sit down restaurant somewhere but the closest one to us was at this food court. There was no line at all and that alone was a red flag. The food was very bland, missing seasoning because all you could literally taste was cayenne pepper which makes the chicken taste powdery. Even Hattie B's was better. We are from Los Angeles and our hot chicken tastes way better even if it's not originally from CA.

Kids meal medium

The OG hot chicken. I got the kids meal, medium spice. Listen. I love spicy food. This was warm. Hot wouldn't have been enjoyable I'm sure of it. Let the ego go and order down a level or two. This place also takes time. Know that going in so you don't get upset. 7/10 will return

$10 happy hour 4 piece tender and fries
Brian Q.

First meal visiting Nashville. Located in the Assembly Food Hall, I got the 4 piece chicken tenders. The kind lady told me it was happy hour and it was 4 tenders with fries for only $10! Food was ready in 5 minutes and was delicious. Not overly breaded and chicken was nice and juicy. I got the medium spice which was perfect amount of heat for me. Lots of seating in the food hall I sat at a seat wheee there was a wonderful live acoustic guitar performer that took song requests. Perfect meal for my first time in Nashville.

Ask the Community - Prince's Hot Chicken

If I have the spice tolerance of a child, will I be ok with the plain?

Plain is no spice. You should be fine. Mild was too hot for me.

Is there any gluten free options?

What heat level should I get if I like a kick of heat?

Medium to Hot. I got XX Hot and it was no joke

I ordered the thigh/leg quarter piece with side of criss cut fries, side of 2 waffles, and dipped in the comeback sauce washed down with the sweet tea offered The chicken was fried perfectly, piping hot crunch on all corners seasoned well, tender in the middle, oddly letting it sit for some time you can taste all the oil that sits on the chicken when it is luke warm not its best taste, best to have it on site while it is piping hot, yes it is messy so be prepared to clean up a mess the waffles were small but piping hot, fluffy but slightly dense you can taste how dense after the second bite, add butter or syrup to force it down, again when piping hot delicious luke warm you can taste the inconsistencies the criss cut fries were a bonus to the meal, piping hot and crunchy on most parts pretty much dipped everything on that comeback sauce, I do recommend that sauce the bread pudding for me was sad upset, unless you get to the bottom your not gonna get to your bread pudding, it is layered with ice cream on top and meshed with the bread pudding, you have to pass the top layer to get to your bread pudding if you are in the area and want to sample Nashville's version fried chicken this would be a good interpretation, again best to have it onsite and immediately if you are getting this delivered your missing out, always have it piping hot food ***.5 good when piping how luke warm not so great service **** very helpful staff, friendly price $$ ambiance **** loud, open air, windy due to the fans going off, but the vibe was good in here

I can only write a Pros and Cons as I…read morewant to be fair Pros 1) selection of oysters is fantastic 2) the Shuckers really are carrying the bar seating 3) everyone is super nice Cons 1) now remember I was at the bar seating, Other than the shuckers and who I think are awesome. On one visit with only a few of us there our bartender disappeared for a good 20 minutes. Upon his return he was focused on everything but the 5 of us in the place until we finally had to ask to get service. The other visit everyone helped me but the actual server. Maybe this is a staffing problem, I don't know but being stuck for 20 minutes to order another drink with my meal is not acceptable. Although they had that check in my hand in under a minute and in under another minute to process. Again, super nicer people, but kind of oblivious. 2) Now let's talk about the kitchen. And I'm adding some input from the other diners because we all sat there waiting. - flavors are great, but the salt and spice level is overboard. I had the mushroom appetizer and nearly choked/coughed to death. I like heat but this was raw spice that overpowered the dish. And the salt about made my feet swell into balloons. Such a shame because the idea is great just poor execution - deviled eggs. Pass - BBQ Shrimp, sort of like the mushrooms right profile but overpowering - gumbo. Two other people had the gumbo and when I asked they said that too is just over spiced I want to like this place, but probably my last visit unless I just come for oysters. Sorry
