While looking for a quick bite before a concert in Nashville, we stumbled upon Bakersfield, and as a taco enthusiast visiting from the Southwest, I wasn't sure what to expect. I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised. The guacamole and chips were the standout of the meal. The guacamole was incredibly fresh, packed with flavor, and served alongside warm, freshly made tortilla chips that were hard to stop eating. We also ordered the esquites, since I'm a huge fan of authentic elote preparado. The flavors were delicious and well-balanced. My only suggestion would be to serve the esquites warm, I promise it truly takes the dish to another level. As for the tacos, the presentation was beautiful. The Al Pastor tacos looked fantastic, but they leaned a little too sweet for my taste and were missing some of the bold, smoky flavors I associate with traditional Al Pastor, like guajillo chiles, oregano, and other aromatic spices. On the other hand, the chicken tacos were excellent. They were juicy, well-seasoned, and flavorful enough to shine without needing much from the toppings. To top it all off, our server was friendly, attentive, and helped make the entire experience enjoyable. Overall, Bakersfield exceeded my expectations. While it may not replace the authentic taco shops of the Southwest, it's definitely a solid choice in Nashville, especially if you're craving flavorful Mexican-inspired food before a night out. read more

There is also an extensive list of alchol choices. This night two friends grabbed the chicken taquitos and I grabbed the stuffed poblano pepper. My friend recommended this place before going to an event at Nissan. She said the chips were great. And that they were! Plus they had great options for her (a veggi/pescetarian). My girlfriend and I went to Bakersfield for dinner prior to a show at Ryman. The service was thankfully quick (we had a reservation for a party of 2) on a Saturday night. Inside the restaurant it was very loud (music) and hard to hear even when you're trying to lean in and pay attention. We ordered the "dinner for 2" that's $49 at the time. We agreed that most of the food felt warm and dry. When it comes to the tacos, we felt that some of the protein/meats were dry (and again was warm and on the soggier side.) I've stopped here many times when I'm in the area for events. It's just off Broadway and you can walk to everything you need easily. Everything I've had (mostly tacos) here has been great and prices aren't ridiculously high like most downtown places. Everything comes out really quick so that's great when you gotta go fast. Right up there with NYC's Los Taco No1, but with much better atmosphere in a trendy sit down restaurant with a traditional bar serving craft beer and cocktails.
