    Hot chicken fries
    Shirin L.

Nashville is so famous for their hot chicken that we made it a point to get a good variety of hot chicken from multiple spots. This spot is inside the Assembly Hall on Broadway. The staff is very friendly and gives you good advice based on your taste buds. They recommended their hot chicken fries that comes with coleslaw, pickle, fries, fried chicken and some really delicious sauce on it. We asked for some extra so they gave us a couple different ones on the side. The dish is delicious with good flavor and is hot and made fresh to order.

I was definitely surprised at how good Smokin Chickin was once I got my food. This stall is in the back of the Food Hall, despite being in a lesser trafficked area, it still had a long line. Of course, everything there had a long line, so that's not particularly surprising. The staff was clearly enjoying themselves as they were pushing through orders on this Thursday night. Although the hall wasn't slam-packed, there wasn't a lot of empty space to be found. But the best part is that people come and go so quickly that it's easy to find a spot to sit. I loved my quarter chicken and mac-and-cheese. I was pleasantly surprised at the salad that was included too. I was expecting something much smaller with much less flavor and excitement. The whole meal was very good - don't get the fries - you don't need them :)

Got the chicken bowl. So good ! Flavors were fresh and just enough heat! Wish we had this in Oregon.

Great mid-day pick me up snack and extra points for being creative enough to put hot chicken in a pita. Service was quick, no lines. The vibes in Assembly Food Hall are unmatched! There are so many options, it's hard to choose. Save time for a full meal - and by full I mean, leave plenty of room for dessert and drinks too;)

I can't say enough good things about this place. First, the location is perfect. It is located in the Food Hall which is right next to Broadway Street which is very convenient. When I got there, there was no line and I asked the cashier about the portion sizes and she explained them to me very well. This is a great fast food place for a Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Loaded Mac and Cheese and the Nashville Chicken Pita Sandwich and I was pleasantly surprised. The sandwich was so different from other Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches and it was amazing. Also, I was pleasantly surprised about the portion size for the mac and cheese. I expected a much smaller size and I received a very large portion. I only had a bite of the sandwich and finished the mac and cheese and I was full. Also, this place was very affordable. I paid around $17 for both items which considering the portion sizes was a great deal. Highly recommend this place to anyone who is deciding what restaurant to pick from all the options.

Smokin Chikin's menu at Nashville Food Hall.

Three of us bought the bowls for nearly $17 each and they were small. Also the sign said that Coke and Dasani were $3. After we were charged $3 for a Dasani and a Coke, I was also charged an extra $1 for a signature drink. The only explanation the employee could give was that my Coke was flavored so it was $1 more. I took a pic of the sign because it was a ridiculous charge. I paid only one extra dollar but they're doing this all day long to hundreds of people and there is no explanation.

The food hall was definitely an experience. The ambiance was nice for people watching. I ordered the herb seasoned chicken and it was fantastic. It was tasty, a little spicy kick, and also felt healthy. The guy who took my order was polite and friendly. It didn't take long at all for the food to be ready. Highly recommend.

Assembly Food Hall is huge, so it's easy to sometimes miss all of the restaurants that are here. We've been trying a new one every time we go (usually before concerts) and we ate at Smokin Chicken in July. They have quite a few options, ranging from rotisserie chicken quarters to bowls with a variety of sides mixed with chicken. We tried one of each and we really liked them! They were very flavorful and my bowl was nicely balanced both from a flavor and texture perspective. Our meal was also made quickly, which is a plus as the food hall gets absolutely packed at times. It's a good option at Assembly Food Hall and one that we would definitely try again!

This restaurant is located in the food court right across from Ryman Auditorium and the Nissan Stadium. This food court was very modern and fresh looking, lots of seating inside and out. My husband and I could not pass up the tantalizing view of rotisserie chicken. So we ordered the herb & garlic chicken as well as the Jamaican BBQ chicken with a side of green beans and Mac n cheese. The chicken was delicious, perfectly seasoned and juicy. The Mac n cheese was very tasty as well. The price was good too. Overall, a great experience here.

Decided to give Smokin Chikin a try last weekend before the Joe Bonamassa concert at the Ryman. What a super choice!! I had the dark quarter with fries and turnip greens. Oh yes indeed!!! High fives to the chef. I had the garlic something rotisserie, I believe (sorry) and it was succulent, and juicy, extremely flavorful in every bite. The turnip greens....WOW good! I have to add, I have only started liking green vegetables in the last 7-8 years, after decades of hating them. As a child I'd sneak my Brussels sprouts in my napkin to make Barbie doll salads for them in my room. I highly recommend the Smokin Chikin. The line moves fast. Service is good. Food is amazing. Enjoy peeps!

So excited I finally made my way to the Assembly Food Hall. Man the smokin chicken is an instant win! The herb chicken was cooked to perfection! It's not dry the herb sauce was good, not spicy at all. It was moist and juicy! The only complaint was the rice was undercooked. I ordered a side of peri-peri sauce it's $.50 an extra sauce. I wasn't impressed with the peri-peri sauce it was spicy I guess I was used to a more vinegar base peri-peri sauce. The herb-roasted chicken though was the bomb! I ate all of the 1/2 chicken it was so good! The side salad was nice and refreshing. The drinks are $3 and free refill throughout. The staff was friendly it was a slow night when I went the rotisserie was already off and the staff was just hanging out on their phone. They greeted me right away when I went to the counter. They are super friendly and walked me through the menu. Tip: get the 1/2 chicken for $2 more!

1/4 white chicken with peri peri & mac and cheese

We ate here since it was the only store in the food court without a line and the rotisserie chickens turning in the oven were calling our names. I had the 1/4 chicken with peri peri sauce, mac and cheese, and a salad. My boyfriend had the BBQ chicken pita and BBQ loaded fries. Flavor was good on both but the rotisserie chicken plates are definitely the winner here. Surprisingly good for a food court joint

1/4 dark meat chicken. Added an extra side for kids to share. They loved it!

Grabbed the kids a plate from here for lunch while at Assembly. Great service, good food, & such a fun place for a lunch date!

The food is good and reasonably priced but they consider a coke a specialty drink and charge you an extra $1 on top of the $3 price. Really?

We're all at a conference and it's now lunchtime. People are hemming and hawing about where to go, I suggest the best hot chicken Nashville has to offer. We all wait on a small line and I order a *medium* heat level. A few are showing off and order the magma level heat. Hey, you do you! The medium heat is plenty without grasping for ice water. My chicken was enjoyable and it was the perfect amount of heat. I washed it all down with a proper sweet tea. Next is finding a place to sit, which can be hard during busy times. Hattie B's has 5 different spice levels (mild, medium, hot, damn hot, and shut the cluck up) to choose from. I got the tenders plate with the damn hot spice level with mac and cheese and fries on the side. Honestly, the sides were the best part of my meal. The fries were crispy on the outside without being too soggy in the center and the mac and cheese was creamy and didn't solidify/congeal over the course of my meal. The disappointing part was the chicken itself. The damn hot wasn't so much spicy as much as it was gratuitously spiced. I was able to tolerate the heat level, but I could see the different layers of spice that the tenders were prepared with. All I could taste was the taste of peppers and couldn't really taste the chicken at all. The taste of the chicken seemed to be consumed by the peppers. Sure, it was a bucket list thing for me to try, but it was at the cost of enjoying my fried chicken. I'm sure the lesser heat levels are more enjoyable, but I don't think I'd come back unless someone in my group was passionate about trying the chicken.

We ordered the chicken sandwich (medium) and chicken tenders (hot) with fries and mac and cheese. The chicken sandwich had some flavor to it but was pretty mild on the heat level. The chicken was crispy and the buns were fresh. The chicken tenders were a 10/ 10. They were crunchy with a ton of meat in them. The hot was slightly more spicy and dipped in ranch/comeback sauce was perfect. The comeback sauce reminded me of a version of a chick fil a sauce but in a better way. The fries and mac were average. For dessert we got the banana pudding. This recently became my favorite dish coming to Nashville and theirs was pretty good but not the best I've had. Overall for being a fast food/sit down place it's a must go to when in Nashville. It is very high quality and everything you could ask for in a chicken place. We didn't know what to expect on the heat level but next time we would definitely order the next level up (damn hot) on the menu. It was all around good but we love spicy!
