Amazing food, incredibly friendly staff, and just overall great experience. This is a small place but about 8-10 two seater tables, and a bar area. Easy music playing to listen to and the you can tell by the visitors coming in, this is a local place where people are people not profits and everyone is considered family. Come hungry, eat plenty, leave satisfied with plans to come again! read more

Came here again this week after not coming for about 7 months, and I was a bit disappointed in the food. My friend and I ordered fried wingettes, smoked wingettes, the chicken club, and a fish sandwich. The fish sandwich and chicken club were great -- no complaints. The wings were terrible. Starting with the smoked wings, they were overcooked and I just ended up sending them back -- I didn't even want them anymore. They ended up bringing out another batch that was a little better, but a few of the wings were still overcooked. The fried wings weren't as good as I remembered. They were super greasy and the grease tasted a little old. On the other hand, the servers were great as always! Henny was super sweet and attentive. read more

Came during the weekend the drinks and wings were horrible ! The wings tasted old super chewy I i just stopped eating them at that point ! The drinks were frozen ! So I didn't understand why then didn't taste good at all , I tried both flavors I wasn't a big fan ... bartender was nice but not as friendly as I would have hoped ! First time , I may go back and try someone else ! Everything else looked tasty from what I saw ! read more

Now this place is what I'm talking about - tasty food, friendly and quick service, and happy hour deals. We shared the meat trio platter (pork BBQ, brisket, and ribs), as well as the Mac and cheese, corn bread, and collard greens for sides. Every single thing is good. They also have happy hour deals on some appetizers and mixed drinks. They also serve draft beers, which isn't mentioned on their site so I wanted to mention it here. If you like the meats, don't pass this place up! read more

This was one of the best if not best BBQ places we've eaten at and we've eaten lots in Tennessee & Texas. We got the 3 meat plate and hamburger. Ribs, brisket and wings. Meat fell off the bone. Cornbread and fries for sides. All were amazing. We also added a burger and it was juicy and delicious. Highly recommend! read more

Pig & Brew is a wonderful spot to dine-in or order takeout at. They offer cool daily specials and great variety of BBQ style meals. From the times I've gone, I've loved the way they flavor their meats. There is a lot of seating available indoors. The last time I visited, it was a very rainy day, so it wasn't too busy. Our server was really kind and took the time to explain things on the menu for my father-in-law. I loved the kick my minced NC-style pork BBQ had. It really elevated the flavor. My fiance got the burnt end brisket sandwich with fries. I loved the fries and extra crunch they had. I'm excited to try more things on the menu on a different visit. I also really enjoyed the music here. Can't wait to come back to try the drinks. read more

What a nice location. It has a nice vibe, nice music and an amazing happy hour! The customer service was really warm and professional. The menu is straight forward (not a lot of options). Standard Bar-B-Que bar food but with flavor. I liked the fact you scan your phone for the menu. The prices are fair and the cocktails were tasty , not too strong but not too sweet. As for the food, I have mixed emotions. I ordered the "Fish" entree with 2 sides (Mac and cheese & coleslaw). I thought I was getting at least 2 pieces of fish with my 2 sides but only received one very dry fish sandwich instead. I am happy to say that the fish was fried to a crispy sensation. The mac and cheese was okay (little buttery for my liking). The coleslaw had an acidic taste instead of the classic creamy consistency. The show stopper for me was those SMOKED WINGS!! They were falling off the bone. Flavorfully good! The parking can be a little tricky depending on your time frame. The restaurant is seat yourself and they have a long bar seating area. Also there is 15 or 20% gratuity automatically applied to your bill. All in all, it was a nice vibe, nice drinks, nice pricing, nice staff! Definitely would come back again. read more

The ambience is really nice... The service was impeccable. I saw so many reviews on TikTok and Instagram so I had to see what all the hype was about. I ordered 2 fish sandwiches, fries, 3 barbecue sandwiches and an order of macaroni and cheese. Well the macaroni and cheese was extremely dry and I wouldn't recommend it. The barbecue is a vinegar based and seasoned really well and served on a toasted bun. The serving size was good and the bun was toasted to perfection for me. The barbecue was seasoned really well and had a spicy finish to it. My sister said her fish was good but the fries were somewhat fried too hard for her. I was extremely disappointed with the macaroni and cheese. It was dry, I could not taste the cheese because it wasn't much in it, and the seasoning was ok. I don't think I'll visit this establishment again because it wasn't what I expected. I don't know if it was like this because it was on a holiday (4th of July) but I'm considering going back to give them another try. read more

10/15/23 6pm Pig and Brew on Hull Street Today I wanted a barbecue sandwich nothing fancy just a regular old-school barbecue sandwich with coleslaw. The nearest thing to me was Pig and Brew, so why not. When I walked in, I was greeted by the host, who was very very kind and helpful. I left my glasses in the car, but he was willing to listen to what I wanted and help me out. I told him that I really just wanted a plain old regular barbecue sandwich with french fries. The barbecue sandwich was spicy. Not sure if it's the coleslaw or the barbecue but I don't like spice. I took the coleslaw off, went to KFC bought some coleslaw and it was still spicy. So it was one or the other or both. I wish restaurants would tell people when something is spicy because a lot of times they don't. What's not spicy to you could be very spicy to someone else. Personally, I think hot and spicy takes away the flavor from the actual food. The french fries taste good, although they were no longer warm when I got home. If you like spicy food then check em out. If you don't, ask questions get a sample try to learn from my mistakes. Unfortunately, I will not return because of the spice it was too hot for me. $14/$15 for the two items. read more

Was excited to check this place out based on reviews and videos. The location is easy to find with street parking. Bright bar style restaurant with welcoming staff. Our bartender/waitress was Gigi and she was amazing. Very attentive and accommodating. The food however was disappointing. Maybe an off day. I ordered the pork ribs with two sides -Mac and cheese and the collard greens. The Mac and cheese was bland and not cheesy. Traded it for the baked beans that tasted nothing like baked beans. Almost tasted tomato based. The greens were tender. The ribs were tender however when I removed the meat I noticed the bone easily broke in half. Checked the next bone and it already appeared broken. When I pressed with my fork the bone crumbled broke completely down. I've never seen this with any ribs. Gigi was kind enough and helped me choose a replacement - shredded chicken sandwich. It was delicious. The sauce was tangy slightly smoky and the coleslaw was vinegar based so together it really complimented the chicken. Next were the wings with the omg sauce. The wings were cooked perfectly however the sauce had a weird taste to it. Hillbilly fries with the pulled chicken had a sweet taste which didn't go well with the cheese. We didn't have any drinks but the bartenders appear well experienced. We were visiting the area for the weekend and Gigi treated us as well as what appeared to be regulars. read more

Visited 07/05/24 My cousin and I were visiting from Southern California (me) and Las Vegas (the cousin) and in town for just the weekend. We didn't make any dinner plans so I yelped restaurants around Richmond. This place caught my attention. Bomb. Bomb dot com. Period. Slayed. Whatever else the kids say these days to describe something remarkably incredible. I'm reading the negative reviews on here and they must have just come in on an off day or when the original cook called out sick or something cuz our service was great and the food was DELICIOUS. Everything was so good. We ordered the following: -Meat Lovers Trio: picked brisket, ribs & pulled pork -Mac & Cheese -Baked Beans -Corn Bread Brisket was the least of my favorite. It didn't have an impactful flavor to it. Now the ribs: MEAT WAS FALLING OFF THE BONE. So tender and flavorful. The bbq sauce did not take away from the flavor of the meat. It was a perfect ratio of sauce to meat. So dang good. This one was definitely my favorite out of the three. Pulled pork was so good. I personally am not a big fan of any kind of pulled pork but this one makes the list. The first taste of the mac & cheese was divine. It had a unique hit to it. It wasn't overly cheesy so don't expect a cheese pull or anything. It was perfectly seasoned and cheesed up. Baked beans were on point. Honestly, nothing unique about this one to me but it was delicious regardless. Corn bread was baked to perfection in my opinion. Mine had a little crisp outer corner with moist on the inside and that's just the way i like it. Overall, 10/10. Price point was exceptional for the quality of the food, beautiful establishment if you really pay attention to the details: from the ceiling tiles, the lighting, the well decorated chalk board drink menus to the purse hooks underneath the bar table. There looked to be one server but the place wasn't busy as I feel it should've been for a Friday night. She was attentive and personable. Loved everything about this place. Where are the investors at? We need to bring this place to So Cal. read more

I've had this spot bookmarked for a few years so when I found myself in Richmond for a few hours, I made sure to go out of my way to stop in. The Good: - Cute, aesthetic layout - Amazing R&B playlist - Great sides: The fries are extra crispy, mac and cheese delicious, and string beans were a yum The Bad: - Apathetic Service: Our waitress DGAF about us and played with her phone for a good ten minutes or so before ever greeting us (we were one of two tables at the restaurant). The only time I felt like she hustled was when she wanted to shoo us out. 20% Gratuity is included in every check automatically which is fine except I wish we had .. even mid service. We definitely did not feel welcome here. - Brisket was dry and bland. read more

We opted to doordash, but it did not disappoint. The Fried wings were cooked perfectly fried hard & not too salty at all which I prefer. The mac & cheese was pretty decent, also cooked decent with just enough cheese. Collards will need some extra vinegar but they were average. Best items in the meal were the baked beans w/ just a hit of sweetness and a slight undertone of spicy & those fried wings. For a bbq spot i'm glad they do not coat everything in a ton of salt..but you can also add more if that's what you prefer. read more

I stopped by here on Saturday evening for dinner. I'm glad this place is open as it seems all the other restaurants on the block have been closed since the pandemic. The place has fun vibes & good potential. However, they only had 1 server & about half of the restaurant was full. & our service was not worthy of 20% gratuity. I appreciate they have a happy hour everyday - I had ordered the margarita. Which was good when I finally got it, but I kid you not it was sitting behind the bar for 20 minutes & I only got it after we finally were able to flag our waitress down. They were out of at least Diet Coke & sweet tea. The Hillbilly fries were large & could be an entree. I just really didn't like the artificial cheese sauce on it, they would've been better with shredded cheese and bbq drizzled on them. The macaroni was okay but nothing special. I did really enjoy my bbq sandwich though, it was solid pulled pork NC style. The peach cobbler was quite a let down as it was mainly just overly spiced peaches & lacked the cobbler aspect. read more

Honestly the best BBQ. My husband and I will make this a must stop from NE to Myrtle beach. Food was a 5 star and staff phenomenal!!!

The service was excellent, the restaurant had a great vibe, and the food was amazing.

I spent the block on this Manchester area staple because it had been a couple of years since I visited last. Pig and Brew has been slanging the "Best BBQ South of the James" and living up to that slogan for 5 years and still thriving! I love a good playlist and they were jamming my favorite R&B classics! I started with the refreshing Blackwell cocktail and it was really good! The bartender was super nice as well. For food I ordered the Hillbilly fries with NC pork bbq and they were tasty! The real star of my meal was the most delicious buffalo chicken club sandwich. The chicken was fresh out of the grease hot and so juicy! It also comes with a thick slice of bacon. The buffalo sauce the chicken was dipped in was perfection. It had to be one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had in a long time! So so good! They may be known for their barbecue but this chicken sandwich is where it's at. Y'all better go get y'all one these! They also have a really great happy hour so I will not stay gone so long again! Go check it y'all! read more

Absolutely amazing barbecue! I don't know how there were any tables available, the food was fabulous and the service was incredible. Fun barbecue joint in the downtown region. I got the meat lovers trio and for the meats I choose brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. The brisket is cooked for 12 hours. I came at 1pm and they said I would have to wait a little bit for the brisket to finish and cool down, but the head chief said he would cut the brisket as soon as it was done. I was very thankful for him to cut the brisket when it was really hot. I will say the wait for the brisket was well worth it! It smelled so good and super savory and flavorful. The meat was sliced quite thick and had a garlic butter type of sauce rubbed onto the meat. The Ribs was also excellent, fall off the bone tender. The pulled pork was served on a sandwich and served with a North Carolina vinegar based bbq. There was a great amount of meat in that sandwich. I added two sides, mac & cheese and collard greens. Both sides were amazing! Cocktail was also really good! Staff was super friendly and accommodating. The three meat trio and sides was $41 which can easily be split between two people. There was an automatic 20% gratuity included. It was a really amazing BBQ spot. I would definitely check this place out. Food: 9.1 Staff/service: 8.5 Value: 7.0 Overall: 8.8/10 read more

The service was top tier I will admit. The server was nice, and made sure we were taken of. They had classic R&B playing, which I was a huge fan of. My main issue was the food. Although cooked amazingly (ribs falling off the bone, smoked chicken cooked perfectly), the food lacked heavily in flavor. The food tasted somewhat bland. The fish was AMAZING though. I am glad I decided to go here for a late lunch on a Friday. The space immediately gave me good vibes with the music, staff and other customers. I sat at the bar - don't be fool that this place is just for BBQ because there is a full bar! I consider a bar great when there is a hook under the counter for you to hang up your bag/purse - the best! The staff is friendly. You can truly tell they are hard working and believe in their business. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with the BBQ sauce and slaw on top. The sandwich was cooked to perfection. It was juicy and flavorful. The French fries were incredible. They were HOT and crispy on the outside - my favorite! Service is non existent. Server tried to make us feel like we were inconveniencing her by being there. Food absolutely inedible Again I am shocked by any amount of positive reviews for a place that is so disgusting. All food was dry, unseasoned and inedible. Either the reviews are paid for or people moving to this city truly have no taste at all. As soon as the server threw down this dry meal (it could have bounced honestly) she went outside to smoke her vape. So we couldn't ask for sauce or a check to get out of there read more

I'm going to give them another chance to see if this can change to 4 or 5 stars. My wife and I met our friends there, who traveled from Maryland. We ordered the smoked wings, fried fish, & fried wings, along with potato salad, collard greens, baked beans, and mac and cheese. The reason for 3 stars is that the Mac and Cheese was extremely dry. I really wanted to like this place because the vibe is pretty nice and I also appreciate a bbq place with vegetarian options. However, my veggie burger was very bland and my husband said his brisket was also bland.
