I was having people over for brunch and decided to save time by purchasing the quiche. I waited at least 20 minutes (and I was the only customer) Make sure you look at your pie before you leave! I got a thawed out quiche with most of the outside crust broken off and the bottom was covered in goo like they had been stacked right on top of each other. It was embarrassing to serve whole, so I served in pieces and made excuses to my guests. I heated it in the oven according to directions. It had a strange texture, like it had been thawed and refrozen. The center was mushy and the outside was too firm. I should have just saved my $25 and made my own. Lesson learned. I've eaten 3 Pies from 2 different locations. The Key Lime Pie was gritty and the whipped cream tasted old. The Apple pie had a bad crust and the filling was not good. Both from Scottsdale. Today we had a chocolate cream with meringue from Mesa. The crust was thin and the cream was a pudding that was runny. All of these Pies were served at our luncheon group of 8. I recently found this location while driving by my house, and my god I'm glad I did. I'm not sure why people are trashing this bakery, seeing how I have had nothing but good experiences here. Now this being said, I have only had the sweet pies, none of the savory. So, I cannot attest to the quality of those pies! The pies I got were a mini apple, and a couple slices of the key lime pie. The apple was wonderful! I felt that there could've been more filling to crust ratio, but I'm also a picky fat kid. Otherwise the crust on both the apple and the key lime was stupendous. It was super buttery, flakey, and amazing! They change seasonal flavors for their pies, and have monthly events to check out. There is even a day where they slice up all the pies they have, so you can try them out! You CANNOT get single slices of pie unless they have cut one already. They only do whole pies! read more

I first went to Piefection after it opened some years ago. It's minutes away from home. I am only a fan of one of their pies. I am an experienced baker and can make many pies better at home than what I get at restaurants, but ONE pie on their menu is very hard to duplicate! I have tried several pies on their slice day, and they're good.... but the lemon blueberry sour cream is above and beyond any, in my opinion. Over the years I have primarily purchased lemon blueberry sour cream pie which is seriously one of the best pies I have ever tasted. There have been times when we called ahead to see if they had the pie, showed up, and took home another pie when they did not have the pie we wanted. Every other pie has been fine, but it's frustrating when you want one pie and leave with something else. The last time we purchased a pie (and called ahead) in March 2017 we had to wait for a while because the pie was not finished. That's why I called ahead.... Then the pie didn't really set. It was kind of runny. Still tasted amazing, but after I removed a slice (blob really) no one else ate it because of appearance, I assume. The owner messaged me to come in for a free pie after my review. I declined initially. I have never taken anything free before because it's awkward. I won't even send food back at restaurants because I am afraid they'll spit on my food. Instead, I just learn to not return. Well, I did end up accepting a new pie 4 months later, today. So, I guess it's really 100% satisfaction guarantee. If your pie is not great, they will give you one for FREE. I think it's great that the owner cares that much about service! If you don't mind calling after your pie does not come out well, then this is the perfect place for you. If you're like me and get embarrassed, then this is still a pretty awesome because most of the time the pies really are perfection. read more

I ordered 4 pies from Piefection for Christmas, and they were nothing special. In fact, two of the pies were terrible quality. Cherry Cheesecake- the bottom crust was completely stuck to the pan, so if you had a piece of the cheesecake, you didn't get any crust. Frosted Peppermint Brownie Pie- SO HARD. Like rock solid. This ended up going on the trash as it couldn't be cut through. Pumpkin Pecan Streusel- this pie was decent, but the pumpkin part of the pie was super gritty. Sadly won't be patronizing Piefection Pie Shop in mesa again. My oldest son spent his entire time in basic training going on and on about their pies and looking forward to having one. He finally got his first check from the job he's at now and asked me to go for him. He spent over $52 on pie slices, a full pie, biscuits, and a chili Verde pot pie. He ate happily and shared his pie with his little brother, went to bed, and about 6 hours after eating it started vomiting and was on the toilet. He was crazy sick for hours and hours. The little one woke up to tell me his stomach "felt funny" and was on the other toilet. He waited months to get these pies he loved (and wrote home about several times) for him and his little brother. He spent $52 of his own paycheck. At the very least they could have refunded his money but their 'wasn't me' response has now made sure neither his, mine, nor my family's money will be spent there again. By passing the blame, they also put other customers who may have gotten the same 'batch' at risk. He wrote piefection today to let them know what had happened, not for a handout or to be rude, but to let them know in case anyone else got sick too. He got a pithy response telling him sorry whatever else he ate made him sick but it wasn't them and a "come back soon".He sadly tossed out the rest of the pie and refuses to even try the other slice in case that's contaminated too. They had a true blue Piefection addict, lol. SEVERAL of his letters home were asking if we could go there when he got home. Oh well, won't be back. read more

I looked all over custard because my mom was craving it and finally found this place. Piefection requires a 24 hour notice for certain items....exactly what I did with the custard pie and it was ready as promised. They do have certain flavors of pies ready to purchase so I couldn't resist. After much contemplation, I ended up with the banana cream pie. It was delicious! I've ordered here several times and have been very pleased. Today, day before thanksgiving was not a great experience. They wouldn't allow you to pre-order pies, but rather guaranteed pies would be available for pickup the day before thanksgiving. I was concerned because we need gluten free options but was assured gluten free would be available. Well, they ran out of gluten free apple pies and really had no good option for not having the pie. I guess I'm confused what the actual guarantee is if you have no policy for how to handle moments you can't honor your guarantee. Additionally, you'd expect the process to be better if pies are available for pick up, but the lines were long (hour+ wait)...little thought to the pandemic and keeping customers distant. Very disappointed...I'll order again as the product is good but I'll choose another option for holiday orders. read more

Love this place. It isn't just desserts either. They have savory pies. You can get them frozen too and bake at home when you want. Love the indoor decor. Pink, black and white! My favorite pie is green chili pork. Love, love this pie. When I am out shopping I will get one to go and eat while putting away the groceries. We were in the mood for pot pie for dinner. I found that Piefection sold them ready to bake at home. We bought one single and one family. We also bought a quiche. I was excited when we first cut the pie; it had green beans, corn and peas. I think the chicken pot pie had two small piece of chicken in the entire pie. It had a good flavor, but really no protein. The bottom crust on all of the items was pretty thick which takes up a lot of space rather than filling. The quiche hardly had any egg, barely any filling. The family sizes are $25 each. Not worth it. Didn't try any dessert pies, but I'd be willing to go back and try one of those. read more

I want to have loved this. I got coconut cream pie for myself. It was just okay....fake coconut flavor that was very faint. Really tasted like nothing. Really don't enjoy wasting all those calories for no flavor. Also got cherry pie for later and there was 2 inches of air below the top crust. It again was okay tasting but mostly dry. Crazy flavors! Every pie we've had here has been amazing but last week I made the mistake of forgetting about Father's day. I went in at 6pm on Saturday before the holiday and they had been cleaned out. I mean the store was picked clean, which is great, it just tells you how wonderful they are, but I did find one Lilikoi pie in the fridge and thought that sounded unique and worth a try. When we opened the box, the fragrance was outstanding. We dug into it and it was one of the most incredible flavors. It reminded us of the lilikoi cupcakes we had on the north shore of Oahu. The pie was silky and tangy and unbelievably good. We've never had a pie we didn't love from Piefection but this was definitely one of the top 10!! read more

If you are looking for dessert this is the place to go! Piefection has so many options of delicious and beautifully made pies. They also have cheesecake! My personal fav when I go is the Arizona orange! It is very sweet and has the best creamy consistency! I could literally eat it for breakfast! When I was in last I got the pumpkin cheesecake. I love how it is a light fluffy cheesecake so it doesn't make me as full when I eat a slice! (It's dangerously good).
