Okay, full disclaimer...I am a friend of Becky and Mike. Now that I have that out of the way, I can honestly say this is the BEST pizza in Durham. Seriously, friends or no friends, I love pizza, and there is no where else in this town that does pizza well. Randy's? Sure it's big, but not that interesting. Generally, the crust is soggy, and it is really greasy. Back Door? Really expensive for what you get, and sub par at best. Big chains? Not even going to go there.... Okay so back to Pie Pushers and why they get 5 stars from me... The crust is perfect: light, crunchy, and has just the right amount of chewiness. Sometimes, when my husband and I order pizza to take home, it loses a little of the crunch, but I just pop it into the oven for a few minutes and BOOM! Magically delicious! The tomato sauce is fantastic, and so are the various pestos that Mike whips up, but the toppings are what really sell it for me. The innovative ingredients are put together in ways that always keep things interesting, and keep me coming back for more...Beetza, anyone? Local ground beef, smoked Gouda, and arugula? Local sausage, local greens, and caramelized onions? Yes, please! Even the salad is a winner, usually local greens-sometimes even pea shoots!, a sprinkling of sunflower seeds or pecans, a few tomatoes and a perfect amount of mozzarella. The dressings are all homemade, and super yummy. Ever dipped your crust in Thousand Island? No? You are missing out... Finally, Mike's biscuits...OMG! They are seriously the best biscuits I have ever had (admittedly, I am not from the south, but I know a good biscuit when I meet one) The "sammies" are good, but good god...the gravy!!!! I don't know how he does it (from a truck, no less) but the gravy is soooo good it will change your life. Now I am hungry... read more

I am not a huge pizza fan, but my boyfriend is and insisted on getting a slice at the farmer's market. As soon as he got it, I knew I wanted a bite because it looked and smelled sooooo good! And yup, it didn't disappoint! My boyfriend was recently out of town and I was craving pie pushers, so I went there and got a cheese as well as a sweet potato/basil. I knew I loved their cheese, but discovered that I love their sweet potato basil slice even more. Their pizza is reasonably priced, decently fast, and extremely delicious. I will be coming back. read more

Sp effin good.. I just can't. I love it so much. The first time we had this was in Durham during another coffee festival and of course we were hungry, It was decently priced and who doesn't love a good pizza right? I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor, it was such a good pizza and the garlic knots were on point. Will be trying again soon. read more

The best pizza in the Triangle. The crust is perfection and the toppings are as inventive or basic as you please. You can't go wrong here.

Pie Pushers is one of my favorite food trucks...they often make appearances at my neighborhood Food Truck Rodeo and are a weekly staple at Full Steam on Wednesdays. You can get a great piece of pizza for either $3 or $4. Their menu is continually changing so I'm not sure that I've ever had the same piece of pizza twice. In the past I have had the Farmhand (tomato sauce, mushrooms, sausage, garlic, mozzarella), cheese, pepperoni and some other varieties that I don't remember! The pizza has a really nice crust...not too thin or thick, and a little crunchy with a fluffy inside. All the ingredients taste fresh! I love that they try to use local ingredients to support our fellow Durhamites! I will definitely be back to sample some more slices! read more

The thing about the food trucks is that you have to try more than one offering. After already eating a pretty large sandwich, I still had room for one piece of pizza from Pie Pushers. The pie was awesome and the crust was as good as any I've ever had. Well worth the wait in line for this Food truck. I really didn't have to wait because my daughter was second in line when I arrived and she ordered for me. Lucky me. I hope they bring the Food Trucks back to Wake Forest. read more

Ran into them at the RTP Food Truck Rodeo. The sundried broccoli was really, really good. I could have eaten a whole pie, but went with the slice to allow for other truck visits. I'd track these guys down around town! read more

There's not a lot of pizza around these parts that I like-but I'm happy to say that Pie Pushers is a solid choice that I'm always delighted to see and eat! And the joy of the food truck...they could show up just about anywhere. They are over around Fullsteam and Motorco a lot, but I've also had them for RTP lunch. read more

Not sure how pizza from a truck can come out so delicious, but it really really does. I love their interesting topping combos.

Had their bacon and blue cheese pizza at the Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo. Best thing I had at the whole event. Fantastic. Light, thin, and crispy crust, flavorful pesto sauce, really good stuff. Highly recommend it! read more

Holy crap, these guys are awesome! This is the best pizza I've had since moving down to the triangle...now if they could open a fixed location so I don't have to constantly search for them... read more

Hot and Delicious Yes! No cold pizza for me in the morning...their breakfast pizza with potatoes, bacon, cheddar and more was carby and awesome. I will be going back to try the other flavors that they have to offer. read more

I can always count on Pie Pushers to: 1. Have really great veggie pizza at all times, one or two regulars and a nice surprise and 2. Be somewhere I already wanted to go. They are regularly at Motorco and Fullsteam, places I like to go. read more

With so many unique food trucks in the triangle area, I didn't think a pizza one would stand out. However, Pie Pushers was a great surprise! it's a gem among our impressive local food trucks. read more

Awesome gourmet pizza. Crispy thin crust. Chicken Parmesan pizza is delicious! Service was fast and courteous. Thank you guys for making our pick nick at the park a great experience! read more

So, I had delivery and got the Dan'szza pizza and the garlic knots (Baked sausage). So to start out with the knots. They were awesome. Not a tomato sauce fan but the sauce they used was just right. For the pizza, I got the specialty and had them substitute the normal sauce for Basil pesto (again, not a tomato sauce fan and it was a slight upcharge but it was not an issue). I have to say. It was a fantastic pizza. I had ONE complaint about it and that is the only reason they did not get 5 stars. the crust..... It was baked just right, perfect texture and firmness but..... it was possibly the most bland crust, I have ever had. If the actual pizza was any less spectacular it may have well turned me off to them but....really. Awesome pies and, I just feel that so much more could be done with the crust. Again, great texture and cooked to perfection but...It was just bland. As far as the pizza itself. They did a great job. Fresh ingredients, great amount of toppings delivered in a VERY short amount of time and the person, I talked with on the phone was informative and polite. So...again with the crust... it is not a normal dough they use. So, I am not sure what the issue was, but...it was just so...bland....Despite that, I will definitely be ordering from them again. It really was a great pizza and if my only complaint is the crust then....oh well. read more

I'm not a fan of thin New York-style pizza, so I got a calzone, which was great! It took up most of a 10-12" plate and came with marinara sauce. Plenty of cheese and pepperoni (toppings are extra, but even then prices are competitive with other places), and the thinner crust was crispy. I poked some holes in it with a fork and tore it in half--it was hot!--and it wasn't too messy; it didn't fall apart or anything. Not really much more one could ask from a food truck. I've read comments about poor service, but my interaction with the guy at the window was pretty short and basically involved me placing my order and paying and him saying "It'll be out in about five to ten minutes." read more

The pizza is solid. Bonus tip: get the breakfast sandwich. It's awesome. read more

The pizza is all right, but gee whiz, the business is ridiculous! They won't split a pie down the middle for two people wanting to share (half this, half that)--unless they charge you $30 for a $17 pizza! The guy acted like that was logical. Then he acted like we'd really gotten one over on him when they ran out of one ingredient and we substituted another one. He rolled his eyes and told the pie pusher "Yeah, put asparagus on that one, I guess!" This guy was the rudest person I've ever encountered in the food service industry. When I said "we're checking back in on our order", he rolled his eyes again and said "it's over there"; then he got to it in a couple of minutes, begrudgingly. "Do you want napkins and plates?" (Yeah). They didn't have salt, by the way. Salt. I'm done! read more

the pizza reminds me of the slices you get on the boardwalk in Ocean City, New Jersey. Crust is flavorful, crunch and thin. Sauce and cheese melting together flavor - awesome. Will be seeking your business again ! read more

This place is pretty good. I would maybe even go so far as to say that it is the best pizza in Durham. The crust is crunchy, the prices are pretty reasonable, and they even take credit cards. I don't know if I would go far out of my way to seek it out, but if it is nearby it is definitely a solid option for lunch or dinner. Put it solidly in my "like" column. read more

The true worth of any pizza is in the quality of the dough. Pie Pushers has the best dough of any pizza I've ever had. Add to that fresh toppings in interesting combinations and this pizza truck stands up to any of the established pizza locations in the area. Tonight I had a slice of the Pace Car (extra virgin olive oil, mike's corn relish, fresh basil, jalapeños, mozzarella, and parmesan) and a slice of Sausage (pesto, sausage, sundried tomatoes, roasted garlic, caramelized red onions). Tomorrow night I'm going back for a full pizza. I think I'll get the Nirvana (pesto, roasted chicken, caramelized red onions, spinach, bleu cheese, and mozzarella). read more

Tried the Barb's margherita. What struck me first was how fresh and delicious the ingredients were. The goat cheese, heirloom tomatoes, and pesto sauce were all bursting with wonderful flavors. However, those ingredients would have served just as well in a salad. The key part of the pizza is the dough/crust, and I'm a bit perplexed by the other positive reviews for this component. Mine was undercooked, doughy, pale, and far too soft. I will go back for another slice to see if the one I got was a fluke, and will update if subsequent slices have better crusts. Compared to the best I've had in Brooklyn, though, 3 stars is a generous rating for what I got from Pie Pushers. (Granted, I'd give almost all of the pizza I've had in North Carolina less than 1 star...yes, I am a major pizza snob.) Nonetheless I'm happy that it exists, and offers an alternative to the abundant awful pizza places in the Triangle. read more

I honestly don't have anything bad to say about this place. They have delicious biscuits, and their pizza is great for an awesome price. I go there every time I go to the Farmers Market and get one of their cheddar and tomato biscuits. $3 is a totally reasonable price for the huge biscuit. Picture a hamburger. Then take out the lettuce and patty and condiments, and substitute the bun for biscuit. Then add a little bit more biscuit. That is the size of the biscuits. I'm pretty sure the lady who takes the orders remembers me as just "cheddar and tomato biscuit," but that's okay. As long as I get my biscuit. On to the pizza- I don't get it as often because I'm usually at the Farmers Market in the morning, and I have this thing about pizza for breakfast. But their pesto pizza is great. The pesto was garlicky, how I like it, and the single slice I got was about three Dominoes slices. Their cheese pizza is good too, also $3. Lots of people get that at the FM. I don't, but if I'm at a food truck rodeo and they are there (which they almost always are), I'll get it. It's good. Not much to write home about, except that it is crazy hot and the cheese slides off of the crust easily (don't wear white). read more

If you're craving a NY style slice, this is the spot! They always have a few rotating specials with interesting and unique toppings. Their brick and mortar above Pinhook is a nice place to stop by when you're in downtown - it's not huge, but great for picking up a slice or grabbing a quick lunch/dinner. The prices are reasonable - $3 a slice of cheese, $4 for a slice of Sicilian (my favorite!) They also recently started delivering! read more

I've experienced this twice - not impressed. Both times there wasn't a big crowd or long line, but they seemed rushed to get the food out of the oven.. The calzone I got was blindingly white, with a soft, doughy exterior and greyish interior. Flavor-wise, they missed the mark. Also, 7 bucks for a calzone and 5 for a slice isn't cheap, so don't think that this is the one magical food truck downtown that has decent prices... Maybe if you like Fullsteam's crappy beer enough or you're squirrely off the henrock this stuff would go down easier. read more

Got the spinach, artichoke, mushroom, and feta cheese. Crust was cripsy. Toppings were flavorful and fresh. People were very friendly. Just a tad overpriced, but otherwise, great pizza! read more

Love this place Great atmosphere and the pizza is awesome. Durham is lucky to have this pizzeria

Had a few slices at the WF Food Truck Rodeo. They were quick, nice, clean, and delicious!

By saying the best pizza place around doesn't do it justice. Yes the pies were amazing but you'd miss out if you missed trying the Brussels sprouts & potatoes and eggplant fries which were not off the chart.do yourself a favor, go here to eat! read more

Ok, I'm a bit of a sucker for pizza, specifically, good pizza so maybe I'm a bit bias in favor of anyone who can make a decent slice, but these guys make pizza with love. Well, love and a bunch of delicious topping. I knew it was destined to be a long-term relationship between my tummy and them, when I realized they purchase many of their ingredients at the farmer's market. P.S. if you're luck enough to find them in the morning, get the biscuits and gravy (life-changing). read more

Amazing - best thing we had all week - We tried the breakfast biscuit this past Saturday - fluffy white biscuit with sausage, egg, cheddar. Melted in your mouth - wonderful biscuit - tasty sausage and not too much cheddar. Egg was nicely cooked - not hard/fried. Great job on this offering!! Haven't had the pizza - read more

Best pizza in town, hands down. It's the way pie is supposed to taste. Reasonable prices, quick service, great food. What else can you ask for? read more

These guys are killing it. Great for a $3 slice after the bar, equally great for a whole specialty pie to take home with a six pack. The Cubano is a stroke of brilliance. And seriously...at $15-17 for a large specialty pizza, it's less expensive and better than anything available at what I would consider its peers (Mellow Mushroom, Randy's). Truly one of the best values in Durham. read more
