Found them in a park on a Saturday afternoon. My friend wanted some pizza so we drove to the park to get the pizza. I wasn't too hungry but was intrigued by their garlic knots. She got the pizza with everything-sausage, pepperoni, salami, and some veggies. I thought the pizza was super tasty and was a big thin slice. The garlic knots were not good. I had one pesto and one sausage. They didn't have enough garlic for me. I really liked the consistency of bread and the concept but not the flavor. I would go back for the pizza and the garlic knots if I had some butter garlic sauce to dip them in after ordering. The woman who took our order was friendly. I would try them again. read more

We had Pie Pushers cater our wedding a few weeks ago. We booked them way back in September when we got engaged and they have been so easy to work with. Shelly was amazing to help plan the menu and respond to my neurotic bride tendencies. I had always dreamed of having pizza at my wedding and they made it happen! The day of, they set up and kept the food coming! We had 75 guests that were all pleased and full and ready to dance! Soooo many compliments on the food! They even boxed up leftovers and people took them at the end of the night, talk about a wedding favor! I'm pretty sure taking home a delicious pizza is the best wedding favor ever. This was a total let down really bland tasteless pizza. No bite to cheese and sauce was an afterthought. I can't believe this was a normal day, maybe they were sick when they made the pizza. I won't be stopping here again. Yes I have experienced a lot o pizza coast to coast and this rates on th level of a chain pizza or something I have had a fair. Just being honest. Excellent food truck! We don't have food trucks where I come from so I was skeptical that a small truck would produce the same delicious food as a traditional brick and mortar. I was wrong! The pizza was excellent and fairly priced as apparently they use local ingredients when possible. I was happy to see that my toppings weren't coming out of a can! I had the "Pace Car" and loved it (corn, basil, jalepeno, mozz and parm). I also tried the garlic knots, which were excellent. I spoke to the owners and they said they had a biscuits and gravy meal in the morning(I was there late night) so I have a reason to track them down again! I spoke to locals and they said the truck is easy to find as long as you track their twitter or FB. That is the only downsides to food trucks; they aren't always in the same spot! read more

My wife & I finally made our post-Covid return to Brixx last night with another couple, starting w/ their always special Mon. night brew specials that quickly turned into a major meal. Their beer selection is impressive, and their pizza is adequate. However, the highlight was their VERY ACCOMMODATING & ATTENTIVE staff: First came Mgt's kind offer re: the 2 pizzas I ordered. I ate at Pie Pushers the night they opened and was convinced right away that they were the new best pizza in town. I love their sausage and red pepper combination. I also really liked the chunks of garlic on another. I'm a thin crust kind of girl, so their crunchy crust is just what I've been looking for. Their pizza is never too greasy (except their pepperoni maybe, but that is expected). I recommend ordering a variety and splitting all of them with a friend or partner, since that way you will not only get a great variety but always have a fresh hot slice to bite into. Sometimes I wish they had a wider selection all the time, but other than that, keep it up! On finding this fabulous truck: You can find them at the Durham farmer's market on Saturday morning, sometimes by Motorco and Full Steam on weekend nights, and otherwise just give them a call to their phone number on Yelp or try to track them down on Twitter if you have a craving on any given night. :) read more

My virgin experience with Pie Pushers left me satisfied, but no more. I guess I am spoiled and used to being wowed by my first truck adventures, and this experience was just ok. I ordered a slice of cheese and pepperoni. The slices are large and thin (NY style), and were solid, but the sauce was a little week in my opinion. The pie pushers truck is a little underwhelming visually from the exterior compared to other trucks (yes, I judge food trucks based on this criteria). Might hit them up again for a quick hot slice. I have had their pizza on many occasions and while it is superb, what I really look forward to is their biscuits and gravy in the morning at the farmers market! In my opinion, the best pizza I have had in Durham has come from two food trucks: Pie Pushers and Klausie's. My wife, son, and I stopped by their truck at the Durham Farmer's Market on Sunday. My son and I ordered pepperoni slices. My wife got the "Arti-Coli N' Feta". They were all delicious and wonderful. We also got an order of wings, which were quite tasty. read more

After hearing about their pizza via their Facebook page, I decided to try them out today at Durham's food truck rodeo, and am eager to visit them again. Although the lines were long at most of the trucks (35+ trucks), the Pie Pushers were pushin' out pies quite efficiently, and therefore did not have too long of a wait. I had a slice of the Local Farmhand, which was very tasty. Hot and crispy thin-crust pizza topped with mozzarella, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and local italian sausage. It costed $4, which was a little pricey, but is reasonable considering it is from a truck after all, which is impressive (they do indeed make their pizzas from scratch in the truck as I saw one of the guys rolling dough). The garlic knots were not as impressive, even though they had plain, pesto, and sausage knots. They also costed $1 per knot, which was excessive. Our introduction to Pie Pushers was outside MotorCo today. We had perused the Yelp views so figured they would most likely offer up something promising for the taste buds. But to be fair, I am a BIG pizza snob. (Don't judge.) We endured the searing heat, a short line (they are quick!), and ordered two different kinds of slices: cheese only ($3) and the brunch slice ($4), and biscuits and gravy (yeah! I didn't see that coming either!) for $5. It was all worth it! The Cheese Slice was particularly tasty. But one bite into The Brunch Slice and "Hello pure deliciousness!" We enjoyed the thin-but-substantial-enough crust (kuddos on that!), and the flavor combination was nothing short of pizza pizzazz (picture is uploaded-for your enjoyment--check it out!)....seriously worthy of the Triangle Pizza Hall of Fame. Irresistible! The delectable combination of potato (yes! potato!), local sausage and bacon (both were yummy, but the crispy bacon stole the show and took it to a whole 'nuther level!) was nothing but short of capital Y-U-M! ill NEVER buy food here again. The guy behind the counter was rude and unhelpful. When I asked him what I'm supposed to do after I paid for my pizza, am I to just wait there at the window or move off to the side, he said hey it just takes 30 seconds! I didn't know that... just needed some direction on your process. Asked him the prices and he told me to look at the marquee board, but it didn't list the price, which is why I asked. Pie Pushers has some of the best pizza in the area. The quality of their pizza is second only to Toro but since I doubt they can fit a wood fired oven in their truck it's completely ok. You can't go wrong with their standard cheese and pepperoni slices but my favorites are the ones with seasonal and local ingredients on their rotating menu. I love the Local Farmhand which generally has sausage and mushrooms. Quick note: Sometimes the toppings change slightly and the name stays the same. I assume this is because they're using local/seasonal ingredients. But you should pay attention because your favorite slice might be missing your favorite topping the next time around. Sometimes if I'm looking for something small to go with my pizza or something to split with friends I'll grab a garlic knot or their wings. The garlic knots are great. The wings are dry rubbed and very good, though they put a lot of rub on them and the spice builds up over a few wings. They don't have any pie though, the first time I saw them I really was expecting to be able to get a slice of apple pie, or cherry pie, maybe pumpkin. I guess that's for a different truck. read more

Well, not all food trucks are created equal, and I've had many bad-to-mediocre meals at many a food truck in even the most hipsterish of places such as Austin, Portland, and RDU. Pie Pushers is one of the old-timers in the Triangle food truck movement. It's been around so long because it's good! It's not the most amazing pizza I've ever tasted, but the fact that I can get it on the go--at whatever festival or brewery I'm at--matters a lot. The slices are huge and I also highly recommend their calzones--seriously, they're the way to go (they're called "pockets" on the Pie Pushers menu). I came to the Durham Farmers Market on a Saturday and saw a pretty big line in front of this truck. It moved pretty quickly though, and I ordered the Watts up, which had brussel sprouts, onions, and the best part - goat cheese - for $4. I didn't have to wait long before my slice was ready. Perhaps I should have been more adventurous, but I got a plain old slice of cheese pizza from Pie Pushers this weekend at the Fullsteam holiday market and found it to be solidly average. The crust was a bit overdone for me and I didn't find it particularly noteworthy. The sauce and cheese were both quite good, though. A very good value at $3/slice for the basics. I would definitely go back and try something else, but it would probably have to be something other than the pizza. read more

These folks have been pushing pies since 2011 and were one of the first few food trucks (say that 10 times fast) in the Durham area. The whole food truck/brewery marriage was just remarkable to me when I first moved to the area and the fact is nothing goes better with beer than pizza. I fell in love with them at first slice but a lot has changed over the years. Maybe it's me or maybe the pizza game has changed with people like Pizzeria Toro and Tre Forni but PP is no longer my favorite pie in town. If I'm drinking beer at Fullsteam on Wednesdays or Ponysaurus on Sundays let's be honest, I'm going to order a slice or two but I no longer seek them out at Food Truck Rodeos. On my most recent visit a group of us ordered two whole pies and some wings. The pizza was A-ok but I cannot recommend the wings. Their baked, dry-rub style isn't for people who like their wings crispy. If you're drinking with friends and PP is around I suggest ordering a slice of one of their unique combination slices. read more

Really liked the pizza. Got the Queen Anne - mozz, goat cheese, spinach, mushroom. Crispy crust and flavorful. My order came super fast compared to normal food truck slowness. Perfect size piece. Recommendation tho - don't get the Caesar salad. Not good. Romaine with canned parm cheese and croutons that were hard as rocks and tasted weird like soap. Dressing was ok. This is the third time I have ordered the Madrona salad and each time the amount that I receive decreases more and more. I truly do not appreciated this and feel that I have been cheated. Ordered from Durham Pie Pushers last night. We were located 4 miles from restaurant. We opted for delivery. 1 hour later I called back and was told out order was out for delivery. The pizza was so cold the cheese had reset to solid cold form. My moms salad was ok but she had to eat it with her fingers, no fork sent. My husband got a calzone it was warm at best. I was intrigued and excited when Pie Pushers rolled up in front of Motorco this afternoon. Slight disappointment set in when I realized that Pie Pushers did not actually sell, um, pie. I rapidly got over it when my hubby brought back a slice of Barb's Margarita pizza ($3.50). The crust's texture was exactly to my liking -- crispy yet not too thin, and still substantial enough to have a bit of chewiness to it. The sauce was pesto-based and was topped with a generous sprinkle of goat cheese. I think that this is probably one of the best pizzas I have had in the Triangle thus far. We also tried two types of garlic knots (regular and pesto, $1 each) that contained huge tasty globs of oven-roasted garlic within. The dough was perfectly soft and chewy. Had we had more cash on hand, we would have gone to town and tried several other items on the menu. We'll be loyally following PiePushers from now on to get our fix! read more

On 04.25.2019, I entered Pie Pushers with another person for dinner. From the start, we were spoken to rudely with eye-rolls at the register. After paying for a whole pizza, we ate with interruption and nasty behavior by staff who grabbed a plate out of my hand as my fork and plate had food on it. The other person I was with had to tell the staff that I was still eating. We didn't notice anyone else like this being treated in the restaurant and were clearly targeted because we were Black. As an lgbtq Black customer, I was appalled that after paying people continually kept clearing our table while we were eating and talking in addition to grabbing food from me as I was eating without me asking or saying it was okay. It ruined the entire meal and the restaurant staff honed in on us. It's not an atmosphere for Black people nor other non-white people. Do not shop at this restaurant. By the way the menu is kinda confusing so good luck trying to figure out what the specials are. As far as the goes it was meh at best, digiorno-esque at worst. As far as the knots go, they weren't fried when we first got them, and when we asked about it the waiter said "look fried to me but let me check" He then discovered that they weren't in fact fried. Very impressed with their pizza. The crust is the perfect combination of crisp and chewy and didn't get soggy in the middle like some pizzas do. I had a slice of the broccoli & artichoke pizza, a garlic knot with tomato sauce, and a soda all for 5.50, which might just be the best deal in town. The tomato sauce for the garlic knot was a bit on the sweet side, but the discovery of an intact, soft garlic clove in my pretty little garlic knot more than made up for that. Yum. read more

I am not a huge pizza fan, but my boyfriend is and insisted on getting a slice at the farmer's market. As soon as he got it, I knew I wanted a bite because it looked and smelled sooooo good! And yup, it didn't disappoint! My boyfriend was recently out of town and I was craving pie pushers, so I went there and got a cheese as well as a sweet potato/basil. I knew I loved their cheese, but discovered that I love their sweet potato basil slice even more. Their pizza is reasonably priced, decently fast, and extremely delicious. So i went back a couple of times when I went to Fullsteam and various food events. The pizzas have definitely been disappointing for me the past 3 or 4 times I've gone there. For instance, the margarita that I once loved was reduced to basically a cheese pizza with 3 tiny halved grape/cherry tomatoes and was pretty bland. The crust has not been what i had the first few times I went there and that was the best part of their pizzas. I got my friend to try them last weekend, but we just both ended up being disappointed. The first time it happened, I was going to give it a few more tries, but now I'm no longer interested. Hopefully they will fix this soon. read more

As I ate this slice of pizza, I kept staring at it in astonishment: what could be making it taste so unbelievably perfect? All the ingredients were "normal", nothing fancy (I had the Fullsteam Supreme). The sauce was perfect, the toppings were combined so perfectly, just the right amount of cheese, excellent floppy thin crust. WHAT WAS IT?! WHAT WAS MAKING IT SO GOOD? It was almost maddening. The fact remains that this is some of the best pizza I've EVER HAD: I've eaten pizza in New York, Chicago, San Francisco which pretends to be known for pizza, and Italy. I've straight up eaten pizza in ROME and this $4 slice from a truck made me want to cry with joy that some poor shmuck invented the thing. It's a wonderful world we live in. Pie Pushers have an excellent variety of slices. They are NY style slices with a bunch of unique topping slices along with standard cheese and pepperoni. I also love their garlic knots. Their "pocket" is good but a bit pricey for the size. The use fresh local suppliers which is a plus. They often have @parlourdurham with them as a two-for-one food truck lunch event in RTP area. A sweet shake balanced with a slice with a bit of salty such as one with their sausage go very well together! And if they have their mini-pies, they are a good dessert option too! read more
