I e been to this place a few times....there's a bar up front and another bar in back. They normally have a large selection of beers on draught; however when we visited in June, shortly after The Keys had reopened for tourists, they seemed to be out of almost everything! (I get that the beer lines need to be cleaned; but they should have put up a sign or something).....instead I asked for Blue a Moon, then a Shocktop, then a Floridian and finally asked what wheat beer they did have. The server suggested an Abita Purple Haze; and it was actually quite good. My husband had the same experience because they were out of his first choice, Yuengling. He settled on a Miller Lite and then a Nitro Stout. Our bartender was friendly & talked to us a lot because it wasn't very busy. It was entertaining listening to him banter back and forth with some customers who may or may not have had legit ID's. After 1 shot each he sent them on their way with some sarcasm. They have lots of TVs; and it's called a "sports bar," but unfortunately there weren't many live sports taking place these days. They didn't have live music; but we liked the music they had booming through the bar....mostly 90's rock. It's a good late night bar & I will definitely stop in for another Abita Purple Haze (if they have it,) next time I'm in town. read more

Friendly, fast service at fantastic prices.... yes please! We stopped in for a quick bite before a snorkel trip and it was a great experience. Lots of variety on the beers and the fried appetizer sampler we ordered was definitely made fresh! It consisted of onion rings, conch fritters and coconut shrimp, each with its own dipping sauce. We ordered it specifically for the conch fritters, which were delicious, but the real standout was the coconut shrimp. The tab for three beers and the tower, plus a nice tip, was $30, so it was a great bargain, AND we made our snorkel trip just in time! read more

I am a Key West local. and I've never really had any issues with this bar. The food is pretty shitty. But if you're local the drinks are sort of cheap. I get that today was Super Bowl Sunday. I tried 10 times to order some food from the waitress. She refused to come over to the table or take an order. This is extremely disappointing and besides the fact that I am hungry. But I don't know why she just wouldn't come to the table. We had to go to the bar to order our drinks. And couldn't get food. Unless V is working I will never come back to Sandbar. If I could give them zero stars I would. The people that work there do not care that you're there to eat or watch a game or anything else they will ignore you. I know they ignored us for two hours. I've been going to the sandbar in cocoa beach for the past 9 years. I had to check out the Key West version. only had a happy hour Gin and tonic. It was $3 and they didn't skimp on the gin. This place was packed. I was instantly greeted and had my drink within a minute. The bar tender was tending EVERYONE with a smile. If you're KW bar hopping I def recommend getting a drink here. This laid back surfy, reggae-rock playing bar has borderline divey feel with great food and good drink specials. This is a second location for the Sandbar up in Cocoa Beach, FL, which I've been to many, many times. Great music always playing and fun bartenders. Bumper stickers line the walls with band names and sports team memorabilia. This location has no outside seating, but does have a small stage inside. There are two bars and lots of high top seating. Definitely try the tacos- any variety. My favorite is blackened shrimp. The wings are great, too! read more

This is, without a doubt, the worst restaurant on the island. The first time we tried it the girl was rude and kept rolling her eyes. We figured they just opened, so we would try again in a year or two. We decided to venture back in yesterday and it seems to have gotten even worse. There was extremely loud techno music in the middle of the afternoon and the bartender acted like we were the worst thing that had ever happened to him. He spoke in a grunt and we basically had to beg for menus. The rest of the staff was standing within ear shot talking about very inappropriate things and vaping. We ended up cashing out and leaving, so I can't speak to the food. We went to another place on the island and they agreed that Pickles is the worst and that someone who works there actually said "we don't need locals to support our business". So, what is it? Are you going to be rude to the tourists, or rude to the locals? You can't have both! We will definitely never be back on one of our 5 trips down a year. 0/10. read more

Oof..... swung in here for some snacks and wished that I had gone to another spot instead. I forgot to take a photo but, my "jalapeño poppers" had some kind of strange barbecue sauce on them and an unmelted slice of cheese laid across them........ Definitely not what you expect when you order jalapeño poppers, and definitely not tasty. I *hate* to waste food but I couldn't manage to finish all of them, and there were only 3. My boyfriend's chicken tenders and fries were pretty good, and the service was okay. There was no toilet paper whatsoever available in the women's bathroom, making an already unpleasant experience even more unpleasant. Stopped in here to have a drink and catch a preseason nfl game. When we sat down some super drunk lady threw a fit and was stumbling everywhere and the staff were so quick to respond and handle the situation. The service was impeccable and drinks were made well. No matter what your game, Sand Bar has it. Multiple times, in many rooms... We were out of town on business and had an extra day in the Keys to muck about. Needing to catch the Seahawks game, we stumbled into the Sand Bar...at first it looked like any spots with the Hawks on was already occupied by non-Hawk fans, but we were able to score two seats at the very end (thankfully the nicely air-conditioned end) of the bar! The bar staff was VERY attentive and I discovered a new hot sauce I can't live without...wings were terrific and when the first batch arrived cold and not spicy at all, they made an entire second batch perfectly cooked and spicy! My husband was able to find a beer he liked and the Chardonnay was completely acceptable (hey, I didn't expect Sonoma Cutrer at a sports bar!) and reasonably priced. We ended up connecting with some other Hawks fans and enjoyed the entire game in great company and were able to catch a few other games as well. Great stop for these crazy Hawks fans! read more

Sports Grill....HA!!!... SCORE: LESS THAN ZERO Disclaimer: No, Im not a "Karen"- I've worked years in the service industry before my current profession. Nothing here reflects on the service staff. We've been to this bar for years- something changed. While arriving early to watch the 730 pm OSU/Penn State game 10/30/21 around 645-7pm (yes-during Fantasy Fest), we joined other OSU fans in the front bar. Apparently, there was another private party scheduled for 10pm (Naughty Nurse/Doctors). Nothing mentioned to us when sitting down, but an hour later, literally a riot and anarchy ensued with the management and the promotional people telling us we had to move by 930 for a private party. People were ready to walk out on their bills. WHO DOES THIS? Heres some thoughts: 1. You pissed off a group of about 25 + people eat/drinking and watching the game. Statistics show those 25+ people will tell 10 friend themselves even without any social media. 2. One waitress walked out, another apologized and our waitress was about ready to as well. OUR waitress was visibly upset and vocal about the entire situation. I know none of those who were told to "move" will be back. 3. When approaching the Manager, he wasn't apologetic, just basically told us too bad and we needed to move. No apology, no effort. You ruined a standing tradition to go to the Sandbar to watch sports in Key West. If you're going to want more $$ $$$$ then close your bar to the private party or let your patrons know before they sit down what is happening. The party could have been planned in another room where both things could have happened as well. Poor planning, poor execution, NOT conducive to sports fan. We WON'T be back. read more

Before I get started, let me first point out that we came to this bar very late after bouncing around Key West all day. Everything else was closing and this is one of the last places who's kitchen was still open. Also, my four star rating is given within the context of "late night dive bar" and not as compared to an actual "fancy" restaurant. Having said that, it was great and really hit the spot. I had the bone-in wings (which is typically my red-eye go to in these situations). The hot sauce I chose is called "thermo-nuclear" but it really wasn't too hot at all. If you've ever been to a Buffalo Wild Wings this is probably somewhere between their "hot" and "wild." Still though, the wings were really, really, really good. I know it sounds stupid, but I consider myself somewhat of a wing snob and these were great. My wife had Mac and Cheese and she really liked it as well. The bartender told me the manager in charge of putting up the different college sports flags has vowed to not include Michigan or Alabama so don't waste your time looking for them (sounds sort of petty if you ask me. It's a sports bar for Pete's sake, grow up). But I won't hold that against the rest of the bar. The staff was super friendly, the atmosphere was great and the food was really good. The bottom line: this place has good food and friendly staff. If you're out on the hunt for good bar food, especially when most every other kitchen is closed, this is a great choice. read more

Another Yelp recommendation. I came in before sundown; before the Fantasy Fest crowd came flooding in. The menu had very little that interested me. I chose the fish taco, since I decided to eat the seafood while in Florida. But the tortillas were raw and, absorbing the liquids of the contents, broke while I was eating them. I had to finish them off with a fork. The Key Lime Cider is good accompaniment for seafood. By sundown, costumed revelers were filing in, whooping it up. This place sits across the street from Sloppy Joe's and is situated in the right area, smack dab in the middle of the action of Duval Street.
