This Irish bar is a great representation of a solid bar experience in the Keys. We came in to watch a football game and sat at the bar. The place was packed downstairs and the one bartender was fighting for her life, but she made it look easy despite the circumstances. We had dinner seated at the bar and then joined some other friends upstairs for another drink and to finish watching the game (yes the rooftop also has TVs and a great view of all the action on the streets below.) We were delighted to find out they have live music on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. And the performer on Saturday night not only had a great voice but a catalog of hilarious songs so quintessentially Key West one could not help smile and sway. The food served all looked amazing. They were able to answer questions about their menu, and were very attentive. The menu was typical pub food, as were the drinks. Boneless wings were good (lemon pepper), calamari was okay (wouldn't order again), and the cheesesteak egg rolls were good. They have interesting drinks with various combinations you may not have put together on your own. It was great trying them. The service was excellent, the food was good and the restaurant was nicely air conditioned! Was here during the day and sat on the restaurant side. There was a guitarist on the bar side and a few patrons at the bar, so it wasn't too busy, which was great to get away from the debauchery happening around this town. Just happened to come across this place while in Key West. I love a good Irish pub, and boy was this a good one. They had love music when we went, and the stage was behind the bar, which was super cool. I only had a beverage, but the black and tan was on point! Easily one of the best I've ever had. Service was good, but the server seemed to not be very knowledgeable about what they had there. However the bartender made up for it. This must be a local hangout for the crew of the Sebago, and they were so friendly. They offered us to come aboard the next day, but sadly we were flying out and couldn't. My experience at the Celtic Conch Public House was absolutely amazing. I got the fish and chips and they were of the upmost quality, as for many other items on the menu. Next, the service was astronomical, they took our orders quickly, and we got our food delivered well cooked quickly as well. We stopped into the Celtic Conch because we had an hour to kill before our flight home. We passed by this place many times, but we did not want to go in because the outside is NOT very nice. I, personally thought it looked like a rough place to visit. Paint peeling and rusting on the metal outside. No curb appeal. Looks neglected. However, we were delightfully surprised when we stepped inside. Beautiful bar and restaurant area and congenial staff. We walked in here with friends planning to grab just one drink at the bar. We ended up being there for over 4 hours! The bartender, Annette, was amazing! So funny and super friendly. We ended up finding out she was from the same town in Ireland as my mother-in-law and that really kicked off our time! It was our favorite experience on our trip! Two minutes after walking in my friend and I were shoved and cursed out by a disgusting, foul mouthed female server who told us to "get the F out of her way".. completely caught us off guard. We located the manager/owner who could have cared less. Mid conversation, the server walked up interrupting our conversion.. she asked me if I wanted to go outside (fight?) and denied ever cursing at us. Pretty insane. We chose not to spend a single cent at this establishment and don't recommend it to anyone who is traveling into the area. Was drawn to this place cause I heard an ad on the radio advertising World Cup game watching specials. When I stopped in for a 2pm game I found it to be a bit quiet. Turns out they just opened about a month ago so it may take some time and word of mouth to get this place going. The problem was that they are extremely short staffed. There was one bartender and one cook for the entire bar. That's it. Further, the bartender was overworked and stressed out. I noticed he had a hard time from refraining from making snarky comments to his customers. Not good. One of the positives was that I ordered food and it was pretty tasty! My husband and I spent several of our days at the Celtic Conch during our week long vacation hanging out with our favorite bartender, Shay! Our first time there, I left my phone in an Uber and didn't realize it until quite a bit later. At that point, Shay showed me the trick to using find my phone and in 20 mins I had it back! That was my first impression of Shay - very willing to help her customers have the best experience! She was full of great recommendations of places to visit which made our trip that much better. The atmosphere of the pub was super fun and the live music was amazing. We are already planning another trip to Key West and look forward to hanging out there again!! read more
