I was in between and 3 & a 4 for this place but a 4 seems fair as Pickles seems to be on brand for the vibe of Key West. We sat at the bar and order food and some beers. My BF enjoyed his burger, I ate the coconut shrimp. It was okay. I knew it wouldn't be spectacular. It's a bar with bar food. The bartender was very nice and fun to chat with. Rob, our bartender, made an amazing Lemon Drop, Margarita, & Island Sunrise. I was so relaxed chilling at the bar, talking, eating, & drinking. The burger was pretty good. I had the Bourbongazola (or something). The feta crumbles gave it a great flavor. But the burger was kinda dry. However, I had a burger in Amsterdam that makes me find something wrong with every American burger. So there's that. But here is the real issue. I am submitting this complaint regarding the female employee who was working the 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. shift. I have never experienced such unprofessional and disrespectful treatment from an employee. While I was simply being affectionate with my partner, this employee chose to call the police without any legitimate justification. Prior to this incident, I had already placed and paid for my food order in full. After calling the police, she attempted to force me to leave the property while refusing to provide the food I had already paid for or issue a refund. This behavior was completely unacceptable and demonstrated a serious lack of professionalism and customer service. I felt humiliated, disrespected, and unfairly targeted throughout the entire interaction. Customers should never be treated this way, especially after paying for goods they never received. I respectfully request that management conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, hold the employee accountable for her actions, and take appropriate disciplinary measures to ensure no other customer experiences this type of treatment. read more

We are not locals as we visit Marathon for a week between Christmas and New Years. We stopped at Pickles for some libations and "bar food" on 12/21/2024. So glad we did! Red-beard Mike made sure we were well taken care of and happy. His service as well as the food and drink makes us want to go back again! I enjoyed a local lager, jalapeño poppers, and the kahuna burger. The poppers are not the frozen and fried variety. Rather, they are fresh peppers hand-stuffed, wrapped in bacon, and smothered in cheese. A sriracha/ranch sauce tops them off and they are scrumptious! I want more! The burger was heavenly: a double smashed patty topped with bacon, cheese, grilled pineapple, and lettuce/tomato/onion. The roll-to-meat ratio was perfect. One of the reasons we decided to give Pickles a try was because there was no live music happening. That may sound like we're Debbie-Downers but we had just spent the day traveling and wanted a quieter dining experience. There was, however, a LOT of TVs on with various sports broadcasting. That was fine. It was a little loud but nothing over the top. Great food, drink, and service as well as a relaxing environment made Pickles the perfect choice for our afternoon pit-stop! read more

We had the best time here!!! We were in town on vacation and we are Ravens fans. They were playing the Dolphins on a Thursday night and were super excited to find out that there was a Pickles Pub in Key West! Same owner as the one up in Maryland! It was perfect! We were surrounded by other Ravens fans, they even had a DJ that would play sounds when they scored, play music during commercials, it was a lot of fun! My husband and our friends ordered the wings - and they have very unique flavors to choose from! I tasted a few of them and each one was excellent. (Blackened Caesar, Honey Old Bay, Nashville Hot) For myself, I ordered the sliders - any time I see sliders on a menu, I order them - and these were really good!! Our server (who I unfortunately did not catch his name, but he has long blonde hair) was amazing!! He was able to keep up with our beer orders (we had a lot) and was super nice! I had a good time there on Saturday. First time in Key West, during the slow season, and this place was one of the few busy clubs. This was, without a doubt, one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a bar--all because of the bartender, who we later found out is also the manager. That was shocking because his behavior was not only unprofessional but also embarrassing for someone who's supposed to be the leader of the establishment. The service was terrible from the start. It took forever for us to get our drinks, even though the bar wasn't busy--it was only noon! When the drinks finally arrived, they were wrong. Instead of fixing the problem, the bartender/manager started arguing with us, as if it was our fault. And the drinks? They were overpriced and tasted awful--not worth the money at all. But the worst part? This so-called manager spent most of his time behind the bar badmouthing his boss and coworkers to another employee--right in front of customers! It was so uncomfortable to listen to, especially since the coworker looked like he wanted to get away but couldn't. When we politely tried to address our concerns about the service, he just got ruder. No apology, no attempt to fix anything--just more bad attitude and treating us like we didn't matter. I am a part time local and work in the service industry- I will not be back nor will I recommend this place to any friends. If you want to enjoy your vacation or your time, do yourself a favor and avoid this bar. With someone like this in charge, it's just not worth it. read more

We stopped here to watch the Sunday afternoon football games and because they are dog friendly. The service was "ok" and the food is what you expect at a sports bar. Good but not amazing. Great sports bar restaurant located in the heart of Key West on Duval Street. This is an upbeat pub type bar & restaurant that offers a variety of food items and a full bar. They offer house cocktails specials including a category 1 thru 5 hurricane cocktail selection. I ordered the chicken fingers which were really good and an IPA called Space Dust which was great. Our waitress was nice and attentive. They have many large TV's playing all current sport events. I really like this place and will be a regular spot when visiting Key West. read more

Ordered a couple beers we didn't care much for (very limited for IPA's). Finally got the bartender's attention to order some conch fritters. Then we waited and waited and waited while the people next to us ordered about a minute before us and even finished their meal and still we didn't get our fritters. Finally grabbed the bartender (they were not very busy) and apparently they had been out of something that they had to go get). It would've been nice to know that.. The conch fritters were good, but $17 for 5 of them?! I was still starving when we left. The bartender seemed irritated by our presence, even though we were nothing but pleasant to him... While visiting Key West on a "working holiday", a friend and I decided to have dinner at The Sandbar Sports Grill. This is definitely a sports bar. Lots of high top tables and big screen tvs behind the bar. I think the most amusing part of eating here was that birds are walking around the floor snapping up whatever scraps they find! After looking over the menu, and debating between three delicious entries, I decided to try their Baja fish and chips. I chose this because the fish used is Mahi Mahi! I've never had Mahi Mahi fish and chips and decided I should give it a try. In case you are unaware, Mahi Mahi is also known as Dolphinfish. Don't freak out, this is NOT dolphin. Dolphins are mammals and dolphinfish is a fish. Also, do not confuse Mahi Mahi with the similar sounding Ahi. Ahi is tuna. Any way, this Baja fish and chips was very nice. I really enjoyed it. It's coated with panko bread crumbs and has a side of jalapeño white sauce for dipping. The "chips" are crinkle cut fries and were nicely done. They were hot, crisp, and tasted great. I also decided to get the Alligator Tail appetizer. The gator tail was served with a side of spicy Chipotle sauce and I was absolutely impressed with the sauce! In fact, I liked the gator tail sauce so much that I dipped my crinkle cut fries into it too!! The gator tail itself was good. It was cooked perfectly. It was tender and not rubbery. I think the gator tail was a good pairing with the fish and chips. The Sandbar Sports Grill has a full bar and they even had some "Papa's Pilar rum". This rum was named after Ernest Hemingway's boat "The Pilar". It is also distilled at the Hemmingway Rum Company on Simonton Street in Key West. Since rum is one of my favorite drinks I wanted to try some of this Papa's Pilar rum. I enjoyed it! I've had some rums that were very harsh tasting, but Papa's Pilar was nice and smooth with a pleasing taste. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience at the Sandbar Sports Grill. read more

I e been to this place a few times....there's a bar up front and another bar in back. They normally have a large selection of beers on draught; however when we visited in June, shortly after The Keys had reopened for tourists, they seemed to be out of almost everything! (I get that the beer lines need to be cleaned; but they should have put up a sign or something).....instead I asked for Blue a Moon, then a Shocktop, then a Floridian and finally asked what wheat beer they did have. The server suggested an Abita Purple Haze; and it was actually quite good. My husband had the same experience because they were out of his first choice, Yuengling. He settled on a Miller Lite and then a Nitro Stout. Our bartender was friendly & talked to us a lot because it wasn't very busy. It was entertaining listening to him banter back and forth with some customers who may or may not have had legit ID's. After 1 shot each he sent them on their way with some sarcasm. They have lots of TVs; and it's called a "sports bar," but unfortunately there weren't many live sports taking place these days. They didn't have live music; but we liked the music they had booming through the bar....mostly 90's rock. It's a good late night bar & I will definitely stop in for another Abita Purple Haze (if they have it,) next time I'm in town. read more
