Fun casual and not overly pricey with friendly service. The mahi sliders are nicely blackened with a spicy aioli and lime Cole slaw. Had a great time at Jack Flats with family watching my Illini beat Tennessee in the Music City Bowl. Plenty of tv's to watch the game in numerous positions. JF is a sports bar so don't expect too much ambience after that. Natalie our server was terrific. She guided us through the menu and made great selections. We started with the pretzels ( two orders for the kids) and buffalo shrimp, both tasty. My wife had the shrimp Caesar and said it was delicious. I had the Louisiana salad with chicken and enjoyed it. We were a tad delusional in the outdoor heat and Jack Flats came to the rescue after touring the Hemingway House. I started out with a Key West Lager suggested by the waitress and ordered some mahi fish tacos. My foodie partner in crime went with the mahi sandwich with extra sides of tartar and ranch dressing. The Key West brew was delish while scoping out several sports games on a Sunday afternoon. The blackened mahi tacos had some nicely sized and well-seasoned fish for a delightful refresher before heading to the beach. The drink option on the menu were limited but they have a full bar for any drink options. In the last seven years, the true delight to be found here is a restaurant that serves low-quality ingredients with superb execution. That is precisely what Jack Flats is, or at least is today. With 19 big-screened TVs peppering the place, their draw is the sports crowd. I am sure it is a great place to kick back, down a few libations and enjoy the sports ball on TV with friends and fellow enthusiasts. As with most self-styled sports bars, you don't come here for the fine dining. Angie is the server, and while she started strong, she was lulled into complacency and uncaring by the end of the meal--obviously a sprinter. I asked Angie for one Jack Flats Burger and some of Jack's Fish Tacos. Awaiting Angie's return, I turned my attention to the bar. It was brimming with an overabundance of potent potables. As I surmised, one comes here to drink and take in some sports. Angie soon returned with my order, taking pictures for y'all first; I got to work. What can I say about Jack Flats Burger? Frozen burger patty? Check. Mealy tomatoes? Check. Cheap Wonder Breadesque bun? Check. Look closer at that burger. When you see tomato slices that thick, it tells you they are cheap owners trying to fill you up with cheap ingredients to expand their profit margins as much as possible. That's not cool in the Big Boy's book. The side of tater tots was fried to perfection and fell on the palate with all the fanfare of deep-fried paste. This proves the point that, like most Southerners, I will eat anything fried. Moving on to the Fish Tacos, as you can see, the Mahi-Mahi was blackened as requested, the sauce is artistically applied, and the rice and beans look wonderful. However, as is often the case in life, looks are deceiving. I don't want this to be a casus belli on my page, but if they had higher-quality ingredients with this cook, these would be off the charts. As it was, they were average at best. Obviously, they had someone show up to work today, no matter how little they are appreciated, and knocked it out of the park. The food here is pedestrian at best and in the hands of an average cook, it is most likely terrible. Today, I got that exceptional line cook whose friends call him/her chef, but he/she knows they are not, but also knows wholeheartedly how great they are. Thank you for showing up today; you made my meal edible, if not enjoyable. Lots of TVs!! You can watch any sport that is on air! It's dark and like a local dive bar which is nice from the I saw tourist scene of key west. The fish sandwich is huge and really good. The fries come out hot and the portion is big. We tried the tots and it brings you back to childhood. The cheese sauce is delicious but ask for two containers! Best NFL Sunday ticket bar in Key West! So fun. Great tv set up, service, and wings!!

We ducked in here to escape the heat and were pleasantly surprised! I wanted AC but also cheap beer, and I figured this place would deliver on at least one of those items. It delivered on both! The server was friendly and prompt! She provided some good guidance on the beers (they have a nice mix of mass market and local). I wasn't all that hungry, but we got the pretzels and I can recommend! Deliciously soft on the inside, crisp on the outside, with a good amount of butter and mustard. We had two beers each; I think I started with a Yuengling and then moved on to something local. Larry had two of the local beers. We got a nice bonus of another pint of one of the locals that they accidentally poured twice. Yes please! The inside was clean enough and a really nice break as they had no music on and the sound turned off on the TVs. It was a super relaxing way to beat the heat. This place looks like a tourist trap but it most definitely is not. A great find! read more

This is a really hurting spot. Once known as the coldest bar here in KW. Its now just resonably comfortable. The place is empty most of the time which impacts on food quality! I suspect it will be closed soon. Ive come to Key West for April through June for years and always had so much fun at a packed Jack Flats watching NHL hockey playoffs. Now they hace none...no hockey. Florida Panthers,Tampa Bay Lightwning are ignored. The Bar is done. Im sorry to see the end of a true sports bar here. This is NHL season and this place is EMPTY. Damn.
