When others were all pitching a kitchen island, she understood we were happy with a peninsula design, and paid attention to the limited space and work areas based on our small kitchen. She made suggestions and redrew the plans to address our own ideas and questions. There was a great back & forth dialogue on what we envisioned. She encouraged us to take our time and explore all the different choices available. Katie eliminated a lot of the decision fatigue that happens with having to make so many choices. Katie never pushed, just made helpful suggestions. She stressed there was no rush. We chose Cabinet Discounters over other companies/designers because Katie listened. She looked at our existing kitchen and understood what we wanted and needed. She focused on work spaces and areas we would dedicate to specific tasks, like a coffee bar. We love our kitchen! And the colors! Thank you Katie and all the great work crews at CD!

Our kitchen needs to be gutted...again, due to the extremely poor quality of work provided by Cabinet Discounters. Their customer service is terrible, and they have yet to respond to my outreach.

One offered "ballpark price" that might change after work began. Only Charlie of CJ Steel and Ironworks came to inspect the problem and explain how the railings would be fixed. He shared his experience with similar problems. He gave me a quote on the spot, which I accepted. It was 30% less than the "ballpark price" offer. His team came a few weeks later to perform the work. They were very professional and clearly knew what they were doing. Charlie also came to supervise the progress. They performed a fabulous job. The railings looked like they had been installed for the first time. They were solid, and the welding was seamless. I highly recommend CJ Steel and Ironworks.

We found Keil Construction to be the only one that included everything on our request for bids and his estimate was the most competitive. Throughout the project, several unforeseen complications arose, given the age of the house. In every case, Jeff Keil came up with a solution to deal with the problem and ensured the house was brought up to code, while at the same time maintaining the integrity of the house's original design. In the end, we had a finished basement with a family room, bedroom, new bath, laundry space, and an upstairs with central air, refinished floors, new windows and exterior doors, and new siding in the back, making the house much more functional and comfortable. For our backyard, which was in terrible condition, Keil installed a brick patio, new fencing, and poured concrete for off-street parking. This has greatly enhanced the usefulness and value of our house. All in all, we were very pleased with Keil Construction. Jeff's teams' work was high quality throughout the process. We would recommend them to anyone considering major projects on a Capitol Hill home.

We were both impressed with the sheds available on the website and what we saw on Yelp, so we decided Five Star Sheds would be perfect for our own custom shed. The guys were great to work with throughout every step of the process. They came out a couple months before installation to check out the building area and go over our options. (Because everyone was still getting in their pandemic home improvements, their spring schedule filled up quickly.) When filing the permit with the county, we learned that our original plan for the shed wouldn't be possible due to the property line distance requirements, so we needed to have a somewhat unusual 4'x12' design. The guys had no problem with this request and even designed a special roof overhang for my husband's kayak. A few days before installation, they gave us a heads up when previous project was running longer than initially anticipated, so we were able to make sure we could push it back by another day. It was amazing how quickly they built our incredible shed! The crew arrived just after 7:30 and by 2:30 we had a completed custom build! I watched from the window a few times throughout the process and each time I couldn't believe how quickly everything was coming together. It was so sturdy that they were able to test the shelves by standing on them. There are so many beautiful finishing touches to the shed, like metal plating at the entryway and decorative hinges. The parts of the shed also include very generous warranties, so if we ever have issues with the materials, we can call to get it fixed. We were blown away when we did our final walkthrough. If you are looking for a custom shed in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to call Five Star Sheds. They definitely live up to their business name. Even if you have to wait for your build, it's well worth it! The craftsmanship is unmatched and the team works hard to surpass your expectations every step of the way.

I had an excellent experience with H&C Construction on my kitchen remodel. From start to finish,…read moretheir communication, project management, quality of work, and ability to stay on schedule were outstanding. H&C was not the least expensive quote I received, but they also weren't the most expensive. In my experience, the value they delivered more than justified the investment. One of the things I found particularly valuable was the project management app they use. It made it easy to manage the project from end to end, stay informed, review decisions, and keep everything organized in one place. The design phase did take some time, but it was time very well spent. Once we finalized the design, everything moved at a great pace, and the execution was smooth and well coordinated. This was actually my second project with H&C Construction this year, and I am once again very pleased with the results. The fact that I chose to work with them a second time says a lot about my confidence in their team and the quality of their work. I would highly recommend H&C Construction to anyone considering a kitchen remodel. They are professional, organized, communicative, and committed to delivering quality work--and they made what can be a stressful process feel very well managed.

I did not have a good experience at all with this company. First, they changed project managers on…read moreme just before they came out to do that work without explanation. When the work started, they moved at a glacier pace with erratic attendance. There were days they did not show up at all, other days they would show up unexpectedly at 7am, and leave at 10am. This was never communicated with me. Next, mistakes started happening. They painted the walls the wrong color. They put up the shower door on the wrong side. They also put up the window blind backwards so I couldn't reach or use the rod to open and close it. After the shower door went up backwards, the project manager fired the workers, but the had no one to finish the work. When they finally came back to fix the shower tiles wrecked when the door went up on the wrong side, they didn't align the replacement tile patterns with each other so the pattern is disjointed and doesn't line up at all. The project manager told me it's not supposed to line up!? After complaining about it 3 times, they finally offered to replace the tiles. But they stalled on ordering them and now it's out of stock. There are also other problems - the shower faucets are not properly secured to the shower walls, the vanity light is separating from the wall and the light switch fixture is also separating from the wall. The floor tile is irregular with grout lines sometimes thick in places, other times nonexistent. Currently, they are not returning my calls or texts. I've even reached out to the owner who came out and promised to fix everything, but commented that I was overly concerned with "small" details. Now he has not returned my calls or texts about when he will come to fix things. Maybe I am concerned with details but I'd think that is common when paying 20k to have a bathroom redone according to an approved plan. At the very least, I expected that shower tile patterns would match up and that things would be well grouted or secured in shower and on walls. This was my first renovation in my first home and I'm so disappointed in how it turned out and how I was treated by the team. Also, this 2 week project took 5 and 1/2 weeks to get to where it is now. Overall the project was done carelessly with no attention to detail and with no acceptance of their mistakes and no attempt to repair the problems identified. I see they have had good reviews in the past, but my project did not go well at all. I would definitely recommend choosing another company. When I first complained they asked me not to write a bad review and I said that along as everything was fixed we had a deal. Nothing has been fixed and they are not communicating with me. I know have to either pay another company more money to fix their mistakes or take legal action to resolve the simple issues that could be easily fixed. If detail and having a project done to your liking is important I would not recommend H&C at all.

Their initial quote is always competitive, however, as the work makes progress, you will find many things that were not included in the original estimate. Therefore, if you're not knowledgeable enough, your final quote might end up being much higher than the initial estimate. For example: we paid almost 10K+ to remodel one room and they left one wall unfinished because they said it was not included (we thought it was). So make sure you have all the nitty gritty details written down in your estimate to avoid confusion later. Also, their work hasn't stood the test of time. We noticed many things have started to fall apart not too long after the work was completed - example : our LVP is peeling off in low traffic areas, leakage under the shower door and under sink, multiple door hinges have already broken, the floor has uneven spots despite paying extra to flatten it, etc. The work looks nice in the beginning but after a while you'll start noticing where they made compromises to make it "affordable".
