Absolutely in love, perhaps the best kitchen store ive ever been to and earning a spot on my favorite stores in DC to visit and browse. One of those places that if I spend too much time inside I will likely spend more than I should...and I can easily foresee myself spending a good amount of time in here. While at first the prices seem high, they are fairly typical for the quality/caliber of items they are offering. And, they truly have just anything one could want for their kitchen/cooking/home needs, from standard high quality equipment to niche specialty items, all incredibly curated well. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and efficient. Would highly recommend and will absolutely be returning, all the while trying my best to have some restraint. read more

So so so expensive, but literally the nicest staff on the planet. They are still very COVID conscious which I LOVE! They have an endless supply of stuff from table clothes and lunch boxes to cook books and le cruset sets! I like to shop local and indie when I can, so every now and then I'll get a new kitchen or dinner party staple from there. The staff really knows their store and their work and are always very friendly and helpful and fun. My one critique is that it's not very welcoming. They keep their doors locked and you have to knock to be let in. At first I thought this was a Covid precaution, but given the way I've been looked at suspiciously by some employees, I suspect that this is to keep unwanted people out of the store given its location. read more

A cute little neighborhood store that I wanted to support today. The service made me feel awkward and unwelcome. The manager or salesperson aggressively took my items out of my hand to the register. She did not ask me if I wanted to relinquish them. As if....?? I wore a very small crossbody purse that could barely fit my iPhone. I felt like I was being stereotyped as a shoplifter. I also noticed other patrons where allowed to hold onto their items. Stop! Just stop! Not the best way to approach a customer. read more

During COVID, this business is taking orders via phone/email for pickup at a nearby restaurant (Mr. Henry's). Which is awesome, because it's basically Willy Wonka's factory for foodies. Seriously, Leah has something for everything! All high quality and at fair prices. Fancy European knives, Nordicware baking supplies, endless tea towels and spatulas and specialty molds and cutters. Whether you just need a new can opener (she has four options) or a fancy new gadget, she's got you covered. She even sells some local artisanal snacks and bar ingredients. Seriously, I haven't even lived in the area that long and I so miss browsing in this store. I can't wait til it's back, and will keep ordering by phone in the meantime! read more

I had overlooked this store for years and always wondered what it was until I came in to get a SodaStream refill. They have a really fun variety of stuff here--with a focus on kitchen and home things--and I can always find something that I want (but totally don't need...like a strawberry huller!). The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and I've appreciated that they have gotten some new displays recently, like a bar display area where they have a ton of mixers. Not clear how this place gets anything but 5*. Best kitchen store I've been in. Sure could it have 6 floors to have every possible convenience, but you can find that lots of places or online. This place knows what they sell and why. If you ask for a blender, they will have a few questions to number it down to exactly which one you should buy. Do you chop ice, do you need attachments... etc. The inventory is curated for a reason... it is not just stuff to sell, it is thoughtfully put together, and the staff knows why, so they can actually help. If you need a recommendation, they have a thoughtful response. They have a wall of cookbooks, and can actually provide some guidance. If this is not the perfect example of why local retail exists and thrives, I do not know what is. 8 stars in my book. read more

I'd been struggling with what to get the boy for his b-day (which was just this past week) and I'm amazingly awful at gift shopping. I must have gotten my dad's genes on that front, because my mom somehow mysteriously -always- has a stockpile of random items stashed away, specifically for the purpose of gifting. We came here today after brunch to say hi to Kevin L.'s friend Leah, and I was delighted to discover so many useful objects for me to keep in mind as I slowly stockpile my own cooking supplies - everything from sustainable wood cutting boards from locally sourced wood (Ash, I believe) from Vermont along with food-grade wood oil -to- beautiful olive oil pour jars with neat, artistic wood balls as tops -to- silicone spatulas wide enough to flip a pancake or omelette -to- microplane cheese graters -to- orange peelers (to avoid getting the rind stuck in between nails!) -to- grapefruit juice squeezers! Hill's Kitchen is a gem on the Hill. Any trip you make to Eastern Market should include a trip here. It's a little on the pricy side but it has a great selection. Leah, the owner, is also SUPER helpful. She will help you find exactly what you're looking for and she knows all of the stuff she sells inside and out. She is more than happy to let you browse in peace as you look for something special. I especially like the chopping board selection. There are also a variety of DC-centric gifts - DC chopboards, dish towels, aprons, etc. They also have classes semi-regularly and you can establish a registry here too. Just love it here! read more

I l-o-v-e Hill's Kitchen! Hill's Kitchen is well-stocked with incredibly useful and fun kitchen accessories. And not only are the things in here ridiculously cute, they are very reasonably priced so it should come as no surprise that I have yet to walk out of this store empty-handed. It doesn't help matters when Leah, (the owner) starts chatting you up and explaining why I NEED the chooper in my kitchen or how awesome I'll look when I carry my new insulated purse-like lunch bag to work. She's a good saleswoman. But she's right. I NEEDED those things. And the handheld food peeler. I was able to put the colander down and hold off on the mixing bowls but I SO wanted them. (Oh don't worry Leah, you know I'll be back to buy them...and other stuff.) Hill's Kitchen also offers cooking classes and I'm hoping to join Kevin L and Julie H in one of them later this year. They all sound awesome and like the gadgets in her store, also reasonably priced! If you are an Eastern Market go-er and haven't been to Hill's Kitchen, you need to do yourself a favor and stop in. Yes readers and fans...this is truly a 5-star review. Those of us who only come into the city to eat and shop have lots to choose from between brand name and small business shops and Hill's has been on our radar for a while. You know its going to be a fun shop when the first thing you see when you come in the door to this small treasure nook are forms for homemade popcicles - especially for Bomb Pops (and you know the ones I'm talking about!) We had the absolute pleasure to meet Leah and her parents who were bobbing and weaving through the tasters, browsers and purchasers of a myriad of cooking needs and wants. I knew we were not going to leave empty handed, but wasn't sure what we'd leave with. Saturday's purchases included a ricer, bamboo martini skewers and a sleek new liquid measuring cup. What my husband "needed" was a fish poacher so he could do a whole fish...but uh, it didn't make it into our shopping list this time 'round. The selection of treasures in this store were more than I thought a place of this size could hold...fun, useful, interesting, and oh so yummy! They also offer classes of all sorts and tastings for products they sell in the "take it home" section. I encourage all my Northern VA friends to make the trip into DC to shop in this store....and while you are there you can take in some great restaurants (unless you find enough fun kitchen/food related items to go home and cook on your own!) I'm not going to lie, the moment I stepped into this store, I thought about setting my kitchen on fire... just so that I could spend all the insurance money on renovating it with all-Hill's-Kitchen items. This place has everything, from the really cool (pizza peels, US state-shaped cookie cutters, cookware, castle-shaped baking mold, etc.) to the unnecessary (e.g. Kiwi peeler, avocado slicer). The workers are SUPER nice. In fact, a little too nice... think Mormon nice. Truly, they were very helpful in a way that didn't make me feel like an man at an Oprah's book club. They offered us free tastings of chocolate and jams. I would marry them all if they were truly Mormon. It is conveniently located in front of the Eastern Market Metro Stop. I went here and bought a wooden pizza peel as a gift (~$20). I then took it a couple blocks over to the eastern market and convinced the Surinamese wood carver to engrave "Nathan and Betsy's Pizza" on the pizza peel. "Of course you love a kitchen store," you'd say, "is there a kitchen store you've met that you HAVEN'T loved?" To that I say: "YES! There's many a kitchen store that has let me down, tried to sell me an offset miniature spatula for $20, or been so bogged down with tchotchkes that all I see is pink and country kitsch and never want to bake again!" To be honest, I didn't set foot into Hill's Kitchen until months after its opening. Friends raved about the shop but I couldn't see what a tiny-seeming storefront would offer that wasn't hugely tacky or hugely overpriced. The Christmas crunch and my desire to support a local business caused me to cave and thus I found myself gaping at knife sharpeners and basting brushes. Leah, the proprietress, came up to me and helped me select the perfect basting brush for my dad's stocking (no rolling off the BBQ into the waiting jowls of the dog for this one!) and then let me be to ogle the baking supplies. Needless to say, I was SO WRONG about my first impressions of Hill's Kitchen. Hill's Kitchen packs in a huge supply of everything for the baker, cook, host/hostess, and food eater (in other words: everyone). From pots and pans, cocktail shakers to crab crackers, picnic baskets to pickles, an impressive amount of kitchen gadgets and necessities fit into this little storefront. In addition to the basting brush I've also been led to an ice cream maker (I received a "best girlfriend ever" award for that one), shellfish mallet (a whimsical-yet-useful gift for when you buy a bushel of shellfish at the Maine Avenue Seafood Market), and virtually everything I needed to bake a three-tier wedding cake. If I'm ever at a loss for a present Leah's there to offer a recommendation that has yet to miss the mark (she's owned or tried virtually everything she carries in the store). The only thing Hill's Kitchen DOESN'T do is cook FOR you. ... but they offer cooking, baking, and knife skills classes to (partially) remedy that. read more

I've always liked Hill's Kitchen and made a point of stopping in with my parents when they were in town. My mom had seen these salad server claws that seemed like the type of gadget you might find in the shop so she asked the owner if they carried them. The owner's response was that her store was focused on items one might use to entertain and that those weren't the type of thing you'd want to actually use in front of guests. She finished with a snide- "You can probably get them at Target or something". It was clear she thought the items and the ask were tacky. A simple "Sorry no we don't have anything like that" would have sufficed. A year later my mom still jokes that she obviously doesn't have good enough taste to shop at fancy shops like that in DC. The owner, Leah, always seems to psychically know when I might possibly have an emergency: ie., last minute imperative need for a set of champagne flutes, a ravioli cutter, tart pan, three different kinds of pepper jam, or cheese paper. Yes, they were seriously emergencies. One of which entailed a harried stop on my way to the airport. Most of the time, you'll find Leah there after HK's posted closing hours... she warmly invites you in to browse because she still just happens to be around. They also offer classes. 3.50 stars. It all started one night at Cedar after I made a seemingly innocuous boast about my homemade mac n cheese. Two months later, the scene was laid for an epic battle of mac n cheese recipes. Mac N Cheese Battle 2010, featuring Chef Yelper N and Chef (name withheld) was waged last week in the heart of Arlington, VA (pitting an aged cheddar/gruyere/bacon concoction against an asiago/cheddar/turkey sausage/broccoli/black bean creation). In preparation for battle, I dropped by Hill's Kitchen in the Eastern Market neighborhood. Armed with Boston Yelper Neeraj D., we meandered through the shop looking at interesting weapons for the upcoming battle. Neeraj D. found a couple of cheese slicers, but these instruments did not meet his stringent requirements. Meanwhile, I was confident enough in my impending victory that I spent most of my time sifting through costume ideas for the event instead of gauging kitchen accessories. My early ideas included entering the event in battle fatigues or in chef hats. But soon, I laid my eyes on the one purchase that was destined for this event... The skull and bones apron with kitchen utensils substituting for the bones might be one of my favorite purchases ever. Who needs chef hats and battle fatigues when you can get the message across in one fell swoop? The proprietors at Hill's Kitchen are amongst the nicest you will find within the city. Yet, the one area that left me a bit disappointed was shocking -- the actual inventory. My Boston friend simply wasn't enamored with the selection (it was fine for me) and noted that there are a number of better shops in Boston for kitchenware. While I will readily admit that I am not a consistent shopper for kitchen supplies, I would add a note of caution for those looking for specialty items that the store isn't very large. In other words, despite a number of reviews to the contrary, it is entirely possible that you won't be able to find that one amazing item for which you were searching. Still, this is the only kitchen shop where I've actually felt some level of attachment. Thus, I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt unless future visits dictate otherwise. read more

After a week or two of wondering whether this was a restaurant or kitchen store I finally stopped in and TA DA! it's a kitchen supply store! A small, cute, specialty kitchen store. Meaning the owner has packed a mind boggling amount of stuff into a small space and you can have a lot of fun asking the staff why they stocked one thing and not another. The owner is very nice, knowledgeable and not above answering my stupid questions about their selection. My stocked favorites: KNIVES, wooden cutting boards & oils to treat them, a haphazard array of Zyliss products, bodum bamboo utensils, and a very colorful bouquet of silicone utensils. Not stocked: Bodum french presses (I guess you can buy it around the corner), Le Creuset, and Kitchen aid mixers. As for prices - the store has a large supply of reasonably priced items from the RSVP catalog but also has fancier items such as $200 cooper pots and pans. In total this might not be the place to buy the basics for your kitchen, but I can't wait to dash on over at 6pm to buy kitchen string, a spring form cake pan and blue sprinkles for an over-inspired gourmet dinner/birthday party I invited all my friends too. And yes, they do have birthday candles, and we will be eating a 9:30pm. read more

I love, love love love Hill's Kitchen. This is the place I go for birthday/holiday/etc gifts for my foodie friends (seems like everyone is a self-professed "foodie" these days). What I love the most is the DC-centric gifts: district shaped cookie cutters and cheese boards made from the same marble as the Supreme Court. The other state-shaped cookie cutters have made great gifts too. In short: if you're looking for a standard cheese grater you can probably find it cheaper elsewhere. Hill's Kitchen is a fabulous kitchen store with an awesome, knowledgeable staff. Any type of kitchenware you need to cook a great meal can be found here. Even if I don't need anything, I usually peek in the store when I'm in the area - it is kind of like a happy place for me. I usually end up with something too (strawberry-print apron? Check). In addition, classes are offered, though they fill-up fast. I'm dying to take the knife skills class. Stop in, and you'll see why Hill's Kitchen is so (deservedly) popular. read more

Suffice it to say that during these tumultuous economic times, the number of people cooking in is going to dramatically increase and local restaurants will most certainly feel the punch. And for the novice or the expert, I really feel like Hill's Kitchen in Eastern Market has just about everything you need in order to get your feet wet as a home chef, or dive to new depths with alternative and unusual cooking techniques. Situated directly across from the Eastern Market metro stop on the orange/blue lines, woman-owned and operated Hill's Kitchen takes up the entire first floor of a rowhouse built in 1884, and based on conversations I overheard with one of the lead sales clerks (if not the owner; I had my suspicions!) the basement was gutted and renovated into a storage room and the top floor is going to boast professional cooking classes. For now, however, customers have access to just the first floor and it is a sight to behold. The front nook is lined with left-of-center and unusual cooking supplies, from potato ricers to cedar planks for fish cooking. The cashwrap area is covered in unique kitchen accessories, notions, linens and gifts. The walls are lined with professional bakeware, pots, pans and even a South Carolina-based line of canned foods and preserves, Lowcountry Produce (I bought my parents the sweet potato butter and apparently it is divine!). As you head towards the back of the store, island-style merch tables are filled to the brim with seasonal or themed merchandise. At the time of my visit, there were numerous holiday tables with some of the most delightful and cheery cooking and baking supplies imaginable. They have a fabulous assortment of aprons in a variety of fabrics, and if you tilt your head down, you'll see the cutest and sweetest rack of child-size aprons too! I had to step away before I ooed-and-awed my way to complete embarrassment! There is a substantial assortment of bar accessories, from what I recall...certainly enough to satisfy just about anyone. The back of the store boasts a thorough and inviting collection of cookbooks, food memoirs and theory/history. This is also where they stash some of the fun and quirky kitchen accessories. The staff at Hill's Kitchen told me that their claim to fame, thus far, is their collection of state (and territory) cookie cutters. On an enormous rack at the bottom of the staircase, you will find an alphabetically arranged collection of high quality cookie cutters in every state in the USA, plus a decent assortment of basic shapes. Scattered throughout the store are mini cookie cutters in every theme imaginable, too. As someone who is seriously pondering the prospect of collecting cookie cutters, this was both a dream and a dangerous discovery. I picked up Virginia, Massachusetts and DC cookie cutters so our family is well represented when it comes to roll out cookies. The most exciting thing about Hill's Kitchen, after the genuinely kind and helpful staff, is that their prices are completely reasonable. Unfortunately I was ill-prepared to take notes during my trip, but being intimately familiar with the Williams-Sonoma catalog has prepared me for the reality of cookware prices. And I must say that Hill's Kitchen, being an independently-owned and operated shop, has managed to make their prices accessible to DC's varied pocketbooks. No, we don't all need gourmet potato ricers or disposable Euro-style sweetbread sleeves. But if we're looking for something fun, fancy or the slightest bit utilitarian for our kitchen adventures, I highly recommend supporting this fledging shop! read more

I'm a home cook, and darned good too. So I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, despite the reviews, I felt that they had a very poor selection of cookware for the home cook (and nothing for the professional). For example, they had one double boiler in the whole store, and it was only ok. I generally just use a stainless steel mixing bowl over another pot, to avoid needing another pot to store, but was hoping to find more options. They had no universal butane canisters for culinary torches. They had a poor assortment of roasting racks, tongs, etc. It's the little things that make a cooking store, and they have maybe one or two options, if that, of some essentials. But good luck finding a good range of products. And they don't even have the top-of-the-line option in most cases. I'd say that if you are a newbie home cook with way too much money to spend, sure, come here and get some mid-range items and pay as if they were top-range. Otherwise just head to the mall or go online. This place is just too small to offer anything good. Gets an extra point for carrying delicious honey from the savannah bee company. Very cool store that also has cooking classes upstairs, it's located near the Eastern Market metro, by restaurants and a short walk to Eastern market itself. The store is in this very nice redone townhouse, it's small and narrow but filled with the most 'mouthwatering' (to me)culinary gadgets, tools and food items. They carry very nice selection of knives not Henckel or Wuthstof. They carry Staub not Le Creuset. I finally found a place that carries the round cookie cutter or ring - the one you can use to plate your fancy dishes with. Love the tubes of salt, pepper, nutmegs etc spices you can get. My Hill's Kitchen Story: Yesterday I walked in to Hill's Kitchen to compliment the owner (?) for suggesting I use some chardonnay soaked oak chips for smoking my brisket two weeks prior to this visit. My Hill's Kitchen Back Story: Two weeks ago my wife called Hill's Kitchen about smoking chips; we frequent the place and figured even if they didn't have the chips they could point us in the right direction. The reply from Hill's is that they did have some wine soaked oak chips and didn't really know of any other place in the area that would have oak. My wife was a little skeptical, on my behalf, of this wine soaking thing. I walked in the next day, after calling many other establishments, and inquired about these chips. I left, still skeptical, with some cab soaked oak chips. I mean, when a Texas Hill Country Pit Master starts firing up the pit in the predawn hours there are no wine soaked products around. The next day I fired up my Weber Smoker and went at it. Eight hours later we rioted on some brisket. It was off the meat hook. Anyway, back to yesterday: I went in, told her the story, to which she replied with happiness (and had a little "told you so" in her eyes). She then went on to show me some new grilling materials Hill's just got in, including some new grilling gloves, "what I like about these is that one can pick up the grate with no problem and it's good for working the chimney." I knew the next day I would have to lift grates and work chimneys so I got the gloves, which could probably double for training hawks. Oh yeah, they also got everything else one would want for a kitchen, from the grill to mixed drinks. And they have classes. This place is basically nirvana for anyone who has ever cooked anything, ever. I could spend days in here looking at all of the things, but I was with a group of friends and we were on a tight schedule. And by that, I mean we were on our way to happy hour, so I didn't have much time. I managed to score an awesome hooky thing that holds spoons (versus buying a spoon rest and cluttering up my stove top) that I'd been looking for everywhere, which was awesome. But the cashier was super friendly during the checkout process, which is a good tactic to get me to return and spend more money on kitcheny things. read more

Awesome little neighborhood store with all sorts of great kitchen gadgets. For being as small as it is, Hill's Kitchen has a pretty impressive selection. You can tell Leah really puts thought into everything she decides to stock. They don't have many "bargain" (read: cheap) products, but the quality products there are reasonably priced. And the customer service couldn't be better. Leah is always very helpful and very welcoming. My only gripe: The hours! They are closed on Mondays and close up shop at 6pm Tue-Sat. I'm not usually able to leave work before 6 so by the time I get over there I've often just missed them. I have noticed, however, that when customers are around they stay open as long as people are browsing. I've walked in as late as 7pm and didn't at all feel rushed. I walked in here and I thought, "When I get married, I'm registering at Hill's Kitchen." I actually get off on kitchen supplies. Sure, at the end of the day, you say outloud "I'm sure I didn't need to buy this luxury ice cream sandwich mold." But deep down inside, you're all *ice cream sandwiches...forever!* I love this store and every gosh darn thing in it. Looking at all of the wonderful spectrum of products sent my vaginal muscles into a tizzy. Yeah, cooking for me is like doing Kegels and I have no shame in saying that on the internet. Although Hill's Kitchen is great for the convenience (it's right by the Eastern Market Metro and is actually not bad if you go by car either), the cool kitchen gadgets, and kitchen essentials to fit any price range (including my frugal ass), I'd have to say the best part about Hill's Kitchen is the customer service. Although they didn't have in stock the exact piece for which I was looking, after discussing my intended usage with the owner [an assumption... in my typically ignorant manner I didn't remember to ask], she was able to hook me up with a substitution that worked perfectly. I think I stood around for a good 10 minutes before making my decision but she was patient throughout the whole process and answered every question I had. She offered tips and information that I hadn't even considered. I was impressed by how the staff of Hill's Kitchen interacted with customers in a comfortable and familiar manner that is too rare these days. Highly recommended as a place not only to buy that hard-to-find tool but also to talk with people who are passionate about the culinary art-form. I stopped by Hill's Kitchen this weekend with my fiancee (on her recommendation), and completely loved it. As a foodie and aspiring amateur chef, I couldn't imagine a better place to shop. It's one of those stores where I have to limit how many times I come back, because my self-control isn't sufficient to withstand all the wonderful wares that Hill's Kitchen has for sale. Everything and anything you would want for your well-stocked home kitchen is available here. Top end cookware, interesting knick-knacks, and green kitchen tools abound. There's a great selection of cookbooks in the back, and even a well-represented baking section (although my baking knowledge is practically nil, so I can't really speak on that). One of my key factors in judging any store is its organization and layout. Sounds silly, I know (was it Cat's Cradle that had the character who judged a book by the organization of its index?), but a well organized store provides opportunities for exciting new discoveries, and I felt that even familiar products appeared as new revelations at Hill's Kitchen. What garners Hill's Kitchen a 5 star rating is its wonderfully friendly and accommodating owner. She is truly passionate about her store, and I can't wait to go to one of Hill's Kitchen's classes when they finally begin! read more

I'm a generally positive person, but i've received better service at the now defunct Linens N things, and service there wasn't anything to write home about (or on yelp). I went out of my way just to get there, and when I arrived there was someone talking to both employees about something personal. As I took closer steps within earshot of the conversation and the store; the gentlemen said he had to stop his story, and the employees seemed upset, so there was no help to be had once he left as some sort of retribution. I needed a can opener and a food processor, but being a guy and getting no help; it was pointless. I left empty handed, and will never be back. read more

I love Hill's Kitchen simply because of the collection of items they have. However, where they earn their 5 stars is in their cooking classes. I grew up in a small town in New Jersey where pierogis was always on the menu at my friends' homes. I learned how to make them when I was a kid, but time erased the recipe from my mind. So when I saw that Hill's Kitchen offered a class on how to make them, I jumped at it. My mom and I signed up for the class with Marta. Marta was a wonderful instructor and the classroom set up is perfect. Each table is set up for two people, and all the ingredients you need are set for you. She covered each step and then let everyone do the step. She walked around to help and to answer questions. Marta made some of the fillings a head of time; this is in the interest of time, you can't handle hot fillings, and you won't want to do both in the same day. But we all made our own dough, filled them, and then boiled them. They were DELICIOUS! I have made them many many many times now (Marta made sure we had the recipe for the dough and fillings). Friends who have lived in Poland and lived on pierogis also love them. They are so good even your babcia would be proud! There was no high pressure sales for any special items in the shop or anything like that... just useful cooking skills. read more

My friend, Leah, owns the store - and it's awesome. Anyone obsessed with kitchen things needs to start doing their shopping here (screw Bed, Bath and Beyond/Williams Sonoma/Crate and Barrel). Items range from measuring cups, to cookbooks, to pancake mixes, to scales, to copper cookware sets (there's just so much) and the prices are well worth it. Great new addition to the hill. I was impressed with the amount and variety of stock, and how the space had been renovated. I went in to buy a gift, and the owner was so helpful making suggestions, and even gift wrapped it for me! I hear cooking lessons start sometime in the Fall - I signed up for the email list and can't wait to get a class schedule! read more

I don't cook at all. In fact the overhead light in my kitchen no longer works, and I haven't called an electrician in to fix it yet. It's been six months. But I love this store. It makes me want to get that overhead light fixed and cook something. Favorite items: silicone rubber mixing bowls (what would I even use them for?), whisk that has a flat ended handle so it can be stood up on its own, suction hooks that stick to anything (ok, turns out, not my crappy cabinets), pot holders (excellent for pulling food out of my well lit microwave). My first purchase from Hill's Kitchen: a hardcore pizza cutter for slicing my Trader Joe's frozen pizzas. read more

Bottom Line: - Great gift location - Smart helpful staff - Worth the small premium on items, for the quality and service Great place for gifts for friends, family, newly-weds, first-homes, and yourself. The staff at Hill's Kitchen is extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. They have helped me pick out everything from a vegetarian cookbook for a friend to a new set of high-end knives for my parents for Christmas. They also have a great assortment of items, and I am sure they would be willing to discuss some item that you want and they don't have. Not only are their products of great quality, they are willing to help you find the best items in your price range and for your needs. The staff will not "bug" you if you want to be left alone, and they will answer every question you have in a fun and honest manner. This knowledge is apparent in their inventory selection, the staff knows why each item is in the store and why it is the best.
