My friend and I took the macarons baking class at this location this past weekend. Chef Jess was an…read moreabsolute delight! The class was about 3 1/2 hours long and held at 9am. I appreciated Chef Jess' enthusiasm, kindness, patience and sense of humor--especially so early in the morning. Macarons can be intimidating but she set up our expectations at the beginning of the class and taught us helpful techniques. The macarons turned out decent looking but tasted delicious! The class is a fun opportunity to learn, bond with friends and meet new people (especially if you're teamed up with them - you're put into in groups of 4). You get a 10% in-store discount if you shop the day of your class. I appreciated that Chef Jess gave us a brief store tour; I ended up buying a couple of her recommendations. Can't wait for my next class! All the Sur La Table staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The store is well organized and the available samples are always a fun perk.

The theme was…read moreWicked, and Jennifer made it come alive - she provided double-layer cakes for each of the 14 children and then walked them through how to decorate half green, half pink to match the theme (with decor on the top and edible glitter!) and also made sure each child felt proud of their creation and had a wonderful time. She was incredibly kind, organized, and so dedicated to the party from start to finish. She played the Wicked move on the screen and had fun music going, which kept the children engaged and happy. The parents also appreciated such a fun and memorable experience! Our daughter felt very special, and we were truly grateful for the care and attention to detail. Highly recommend the Dessert Depot for a party - it was one we will never forget! We will be back!

I want to start with the good part of this story, because it matters: I called Bray & Scarff ahead…read moreof time to ask about a fridge, and I got Butch on the phone. He was fantastic -- walked me through exactly what dimensions and specs I needed so I could come in ready to buy. That kind of help over the phone is rare and I really appreciated it. I showed up about an hour later and asked for Butch. He was already helping another customer, which is completely understandable, so I told the man at the front desk I'd go look at fridges and that I was happy to have anyone available help me in the meantime -- no need to wait specifically for Butch. That front desk associate was unfriendly from the start, but I didn't think much of it. After a while, Butch came over to check on me and said I didn't need to wait for him specifically -- the other associate could help me instead. I explained that I actually had gone up to ask him already and been told everyone was busy, but Butch said that associate was in fact available and told me to go ask again. So I did. That's when things went downhill. The same front desk associate got visibly irritated -- clenching his fists, scowling, and launching into a whole thing about how busy the store was. I want to be fair here: it clearly was a busy day, and I would have had zero problem just waiting if that's what he'd said. What actually happened was his tone and body language turned aggressive fast, to the point that I started backing away from him while I ended the conversation. I told him I didn't like his attitude and that I'd take my business elsewhere, and I left. Butch actually called me afterward to apologize for what happened on the showroom floor. I give him real credit for that -- it was a thoughtful attempt to salvage a bad situation that he didn't create. But as a woman who was shopping alone, having an employee escalate to that point over a completely normal request left me shaken, and I wouldn't feel comfortable going back to that location. If you go, ask for Butch specifically -- but be aware that not everyone on that floor is going to treat you with basic respect.
