I attended one of their cooking classes and had a great time. While I was hoping to make more from scratch, many of the ingredients were pre-prepared for us. Keep in mind that you'll share a table and cook collaboratively with others. Our chef/instructor was communicative and kept the class engaged, and the food turned out pretty good. The employees on the floor were also incredibly helpful. A couple of things to note: parking can be a bit tricky, so expect to pay for it. Also, BYOB is not allowed unless you have a liquor license. :(

Private cooking classes at @surlatable have been something I've been dying to cross off of my bucket list and I'm so glad I can finally say - I LOVED IT AND CANNOT WAIT FOR MY NEXT CLASS ‍. * * * I attended the "weeknight comfort food" in Pentagon Row. Chef @davidegmartinschef taught us how to spatchcock chicken, make fancy winter greens, and create flaky buttermilk biscuits with maple butter. Ps. He has a podcast called Turning Chickens and Breaking Dishes. * * * We ended up eating half of a chicken, a bowl of greens, and almost all the biscuits together because carbs and protein are life

Loved my experience with the bourbon steak dinner cooking class! We made the steak, butternut squash Swiss chard gratin, and pumpkin mousse. Our chef was super friendly and patient with us. He and his assistants all were! We got to enjoy the 10% discount on their merchandise that they gave us. It applies to sales as well.

Took a cooking class here that was so fun! Everything mostly comes prepped and measured out so you don't have to worry about messing up! I'm somewhat experienced as a chef so I would recommend this for beginners! Our chef was great and the cleanup crew was amazing as well. I'll be back!

Decided to try a cooking class for the first time. We've never done something like this before but the Evening in Thailand sounded fun! When we arrived we were taken to our station and given an apron to wear. The chef introduced himself and started explaining what we would be making. The menu included crab spring rolls, pad Thai with chicken, and a coconut custard dessert. We went into the class assuming we would be doing all the prep work and making everything from scratch. For the spring rolls the crab was already cooked and prepared, we just chopped some vegetables. For the pad Thai the chef made the sauce and again we just chopped some vegetables and put all the ingredients in the wok to cook. We did nothing with the dessert. It was fully prepared by the chef while he explained what he was doing. The class was expensive so to pay to watch someone make most of the food for us wasn't what we expected. Everything tasted delicious, just wished we were doing more of the prepping and cooking. We were given packets that contained recipes of everything we made so we can recreate it, but it's harder when you didn't fully prepare everything in the class itself. The chef was really nice and made delicious food, and given the short timing I understand why some things had to be cut short in order to finish on time, but I would not mind a longer class to really make it feel like a cooking class.

What a great experience this was! My boyfriend and I took a soup dumpling class. It was very informative, fun and delicious! I love that Sur La Table has a variety of classes you can take with amazing chefs who love to teach you the skills they have! Can't wait to take another class here in the future!

My boyfriend and I took a macaron class and knife skills class here! We absolutely loved the classes and learned so much. The classes were not cheap, but I thought that they were well worth it. There were little things that I wouldn't have been able to do on my own, so I'm glad I had a professional there. The only thing I would change about this place is the prices. They've got some pretty steep prices for just about everything. I totally understand that that's the clientele they are catering to and that's part of their branding and not necessarily their prices, but the brands' prices that they stock, but it would be even better if it were more affordable.

I recently attended a cooking class here and really enjoyed it. They try to adjust as best they can for any food allergies and have you practice proper hygiene here, so you don't have to worry too much about those factors. Chef Marion was very nice and patient. He would take the time to answer questions and walk through the kitchen to monitor everyone's progress. He didn't rush you and made sure we all had enough time to follow what je was doing abd/or take notes. On this partucular day, we made brunch items: crab cake benedicts, potato leek hash, and Dutch pancakr with fresh fruit. Chef made everything so easy and gave me the cinfidence to make all those items on my own. The only issue I had was with how much butter we used. I really do love butter, but I think we went through at least 5 sticks. Be still my beating heart! Evrything was of course delicious. This clas was really very fun. They also provided us juice, coffee, water, and some chocolate chip croissants. If you attend a cooking class here, you get a discount on your next class as wel as get a 10% discount on anything in the store. We were also told that, if you apply to become one if the helpers for their cooking classes and get hired, you get 40% employee discount. Pretty good I dare say!

This location is easily the most unpleasant and difficult one I have ever been in. I believe that the central problem is with the management of the location on Fern St. The staff have an attitude that you're bothering them when you ask a question or request some help. They have a disdain for their customers. This is a management and training issue. The answers to my questions to find products that have been relocated multiple times, is to give me the most minimal of information. I end up asking the people sampling products in the store, they are much more helpful and friendly. Employees here just really don't seem to care about their customers. As Mister L wrote on Jan 16, people were stuck in an elevator. He was documenting this and an employee had the gall to record him. Are you kidding?! No one who works in this store smiles. That is a clear indication of how the management of this store treats their employees. People who frequent Yelp know that when there are powerfully negative reviews- not angry, just descriptive-someone from the business responds and at least says, "Sorry, we'll try to do better." The management of this store has such little regard for their customers, they don't even have the decency to pretend to care. The one area of the store that I find as a friendly oasis is the pharmacy. The people in the pharmacy even smile. Most everyone who works there is kind, polite and tries to listen and help. I receive all of my vaccinations at this location. I really appreciate Milan who administers them to me. The parking situation of this Costco is dangerously absurd. Dangerous because nearly every car that enters and exits the parking lot needs to cross the pedestrian walkway. Absurd because it is nearly impossible to believe that a licensed professional engineer would have created such a ridiculous layout for a parking lot. I cannot think of any store with a worse car/walk flow. Because cars can't drive in easily due to the pedestrian traffic, there is almost always a backup on to Fern Street. I deeply respect this company as it has the tradition of treating its employees like valuable human beings. They are paid a reasonable wage and they receive medical insurance. And so DESPITE the disregard that I experience at this location, I will continue to come here. And finally, I shop at Costco because the majority of the products are of high quality at a reasonable price.

Couples Date Night Cooking Class = Amazing! In-Store Experience = Needs Work…read more My husband and I attended a Couples Date Night cooking class at Sur La Table in Tysons Galleria, and the class itself was absolutely fantastic. Chef Jonathan was incredible--his instructions were clear, engaging, and easy to follow. The dish we made can definitely be recreated at home because he explained every step so well. His personality and interaction with everyone in the class made the entire evening fun and memorable. The team assisting him during the class was wonderful too. We loved the experience so much that we returned the very next day to purchase several items for our home. The sales associates we interacted with were pleasant and helpful, but unfortunately the manager on duty on 12/7 around 5:30 PM was the complete opposite. She came across as rude and bothered by even the simplest interaction. You could feel her employees walking on eggshells around her--some looked genuinely nervous to ask her a question. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere for both staff and customers. I truly love Sur La Table and especially this Tysons Galleria location, which is why this stood out so much. When customers are spending hundreds--even thousands--of dollars, it's not unreasonable to expect warmth, respect, and professionalism. Chef Jonathan and the cooking class team set the bar incredibly high; I only wish the in-store management reflected the same level of hospitality.

I also compared it to an older cuisineart model that I have to note that difference. Went to return the item within the return period but was told by the manager that because I used it once I can't return it. I read the return policy and it states returns can be made on items in new condition, not unused. Manager did not communicate the correct policy to me. I called customer service and fortunately the person I spoke with simply said that if I wasn't satisfied with the item I could return it. He didn't even say it had to be new or unused. Just be aware if you want to make returns for an item that you tried out and disliked. The manager there that night clearly doesn't understand their own policy. She wasn't very nice either so I'm docking her for lack of customer service.
