    Valentines arrangement!
    Jill B.

love working with York Flowers! They are big enough to get any job done but also small enough that they can create exactly what you want. I asked them to create a valentines arrangement using hot pink and red flowers and this is what they created... I love it!

Thank you to York Followers! The mother of a friend passed away and they sent him a beautiful and lovely bouquet. The service was terrific and easy. They delivered in just a couple of hours.

We worked with York Flowers for our wedding florals this past spring. Anna was a joy to work with throughout the planning process. She was so warm and friendly, while also being incredibly professional and knowledgeable about options. I had a slightly unusual request for centerpieces (potted plants with some loose greenery) and she suggested a lot of creative ideas and helped pull together exactly what I was aiming for. She worked with our fairly tight budget and gave us a great number of options to make sure we had everything we wanted. Setup was on-time and without any hiccups. And most importantly, the bouquets were gorgeous- and I'm still amazed at how long my bridal flowers lasted the next week after being out in the heat and in and out of water all day.

My beautiful flowers came in for my wedding. I got the Blush and Airy Wedding Package and two Starlights. Everything was perfect Thank you!

    Rebecca flowers premium size

About a week before Mother's day, I placed 2 orders for pick-up (on Sunday, May 12th the day of Mother's day). I ordered the "Rebecca" flowers in a premium size for my mother and "The Stunner" in a standard size for my grandmother. Pros: -They have a website with pictures, of the type of flowers and arrangements you can order! The website is very straightforward and easy to access. -I recommend calling the store to place your orders. They're very friendly and service is fast! -Convenient location with a small parking lot -Beautiful, fresh, vibrant flowers on pick-up date -They provide a flat box to place your flowers in so it's easy to carry-out of the store (and they opened the doors for me since my hands were full) -I was stuck in D.C traffic for awhile because it was mother's day. I think the restrooms were for employees only but the gentleman upfront allowed me to go in the back and use it so that was really nice of him! -Customer service was superior (they provided a complimentary phone call an hour before closing because of holiday hours (just to make sure I was on my way) -It's been 4 days since I've picked up my flowers and they're still alive and gorgeous! My mom and grandmother really love them! Cons: -A bit pricey in my opinion! I felt that I could have purchased similar quality flowers that was closer to my house. I probably would not spend more than $95 on an order of flowers next time. -On the website, they do not display pictures of their flowers at different sizes (Standard, Deluxe, Premium) so you don't actually see how much larger or more flowers are being added into your order if you size up. -I would recommend purchasing just the standard size because the premium size is just only slightly larger! I was hoping for more flowers! -It costs about $20 for delivery which to me is a bit pricey, but understandable because of its convenience and because it was a holiday. I would recommend just picking up the flowers yourself rather than paying a delivery fee if you can! -They place the flowers in a fridge/freezer before pick-up, but I think it was way too cold! The containers were all wet from the condensation at room temperature in my car and the flowers felt a bit frozen at first. Online: The Rebecca Flowers (Standard: $125, Deluxe: $155, Premium: $185) they're currently sold out. The Stunner: (Standard: $95, Deluxe: $115, Premium: $145) Spent just over $220 total. I would just say that if you're not willing to spend a bit more on fresh flowers, this may not be the place for you! Otherwise, I'm pretty satisfied with this company!

Flowers Left to Right: The Bouqs $65, Wholefoods $25, York Flowers $185

Valentines Flowers are always overpriced but $185 for flowers that last less than 5 days before turning brown and drooping over. Each was received on the same day and cared for in the same manner. The York Flowers ($185) will need to be trashed within 6 days. Wholefoods ($25) looks like about 10 days. The Bouqs ($65) is a bit more expensive but will last two weeks or more. Stay away from florists like York.

Anna at York Flowers is INCREDIBLE. I spoke with her over the phone and sent her pictures of what I wanted for two arrangements. She emailed me multiple pictures of the shipment of flowers she received and asked me about different color options. I was SO happy with the final result. The price was very reasonable and her service was unparalleled. She even followed up via email to see if I was happy with the results.

Sheer Perfection! They handled the family floral arrangements for my grandmother's funeral! The customer service, patience and attention-to-detail was excellent from start to finish! They adhered to every meticulous detail we requested and were very patient with our many questions and descriptions. Worth every bit spent. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for quality and excellent execution! Thank you!! PS - Bianca is a gem! So kind and incredibly helpful!!

Very responsive and very professional. I ordered some sympathy plant and forgot to sign my message. I emailed them and left a voice mail since it was after hours. They respond both via phone and email to ensure the correction has been made. I received a photo and a text from my friend and she was very happy with the plant. When I saw the picture I was pleasantly suprised as to the quality. It was beautiful and perfect gift to because it made her smile.

If you can't find it here, then it probably should not be in your garden. From the painted pots to the abundance of healthy and beautiful plants, this nursery is awesome. The staff is super helpful and will go out of their way to get you the answers or whatever else you need. Prepare to spend a lot of time looking at the best selection of healthy, well taken care of plants in DMV...imho. If you need an idea of what to do in your outdoor space, this Nursery is the answer. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to help with questions or guidance. As a photographer with a professional camera (Sony A7RV), it's refreshing to visit a photography-friendly nursery. The staff was overjoyed when I asked if photography was okay. The carts are double-tier and plentiful. When visiting with my mom and wife, we used the top tier for her plants and the bottom tier for ours, which made checkout really easy. The upper tier is also great for taller plants, while the bottom works well for heavier items like soil or planters. I was also made aware that you can buy a planter and flowers of your choice and the staff will pot them for you as well! The American Plant Food Company is surprisingly spacious. They have a large outdoor greenhouse with covered registers, fruit and witch hazel trees, and interesting shrubs. There was even a star-shaped shrub (they shaped a topiary with three vertical stars-super cool!). After parking, it's hard to decide whether to walk around or go inside first. But you'll definitely want to venture into the building before you leave. They have all sorts of knickknacks, watering cans, and seeds here. I know winter is almost over now, but they do have a fairly good selection of metal shovels and spades, which work well both for gardening and the weird snowy/icy weather we get here in the DMV. Be sure to head all the way back for the greenhouse with bamboo, venus flytraps, lemon and lime trees, gardenias, and all sorts of indoor plants. While inside I asked a staff member if I should repot or fertilize an infant (3-4 year old) coffee tree that's about 4.5 ft tall. The tree has been revived over the last two years and produced 1 fruit and 2-3 flowers. I wanted to know how to improve its growth. The staff member handed me Osmocote fertilizer pellets and advised half a capful once a month to help the tree. I'm relieved to finally get an answer, as most nurseries near me had no knowledge. Oh! I also found out from my mom that they offer landscaping and backyard design services. You can call them to come out to your house, advise on your budget and what you want to do, and they'll help you plan it! I'm definitely going to be calling them soon! I highly recommend the American Plant Food Company in Bethesda and will 1000% be back to do all my future garden shopping here!

I know quite a few that have been put out of business because of the chain home improvement stores. When you go to Merrifield, you will be bathed in the amazing living variety that can be brought to your home, for indoors and outdoors. The selection is beyond anything I've ever seen, and the staff clearly loves the business. You can browse hundreds of plant and flower options indoors And they also have an amazing selection of patio adornments. The best was my experience today. I needed a garden hose adapter. Sounds simple enough, but this is so uncommon that all of the local chains didn't have anything, and one young man in an orange apron Ron suggested I just get it on Amazon. I stopped here at Merrifield, and they also did not have it in stock. But the gentleman at the counter Suggested that he'd be happy to make one for me if I wouldn't mind waiting for a few minutes. And he jumped into action, grabbing the hose and fittings that he needed and manufactured what I needed for me on the spot. That his old-fashioned service deserves a lot more than just five stars. I've heard great things about Merrifield and though I've visited before, I hadn't bought anything. I took some pics of my lawn, some of the current grass/weeds/plants growing and went to their help desk. It was mid-week, so not too busy. Craig was working the desk and so I don't bury the lead... he was AMAZING. I explained what I was trying to do, that I really knew nothing, and though I had done a little research, I didn't want to trust everything I had read/watched. He walked me through my options. I don't care much about what is growing, just that we have good coverage. Clover was something I was interested in. He explained the clover options as well as some low-maintenance grass options. He even spent a lot of time helping me understand about aerating since it was something I wanted to know more about. I decided to go with grass and clover, hoping a mix might balance between lawn and something for the pollinators. As the spots were relatively small, he said I could just hand spread, especially with the clover seeds being so tiny. While prices are a little higher than the big box stores, looking into this, the products seem to be of a higher quality. Luckily my issue was sort of small to start with so I felt it was a good investment.

We have the team coming back in a few weeks to rip out the standard plants seen in the Silver Spring area (liriope, lilies, weeds) to replace with a native garden and we can't wait. One of my favorite aspects of this company is it is a co-op. The employees can be owners, and those who aren't are still paid a living wage as calculated by the MIT living wage calculator.
