I purchased my new iPhone 17 from Christopher at this location on July 3, 2026. During the first week, I noticed that the phone was getting extremely hot. Because it was brand new and otherwise working well, I unfortunately assumed it was part of the initial setup process and did not immediately return to the store. Fast forward to Saturday, September 5. My phone suddenly would not charge, connect, or function properly. It was also becoming SO hot that while carrying it in the pocket of my scrub pants, I had to remove it several times because I was genuinely concerned it could burn me. I made an appointment at this Verizon location for after my hospital shift. I was working in South County and even left my shift early so I could make it to my 5:00 PM appointment. When I arrived, the two employees were assisting other customers, so I waited. While waiting, I repeatedly heard them telling customers, "We close at 6," making it very clear that closing time was their priority. I was finally helped around 5:30 PM. I explained everything that was happening with the phone, including the excessive heat and the fact that it was no longer charging or connecting. Christopher immediately told me that I "needed to get there before 3 PM." This made absolutely no sense considering I had made an appointment, arrived before closing, and the store was open until 6 PM. He then told me that every carrier would do the same thing--T-Mobile, AT&T, etc.--because it was a warranty issue and that I would need to go to Apple. I explained that I also have insurance coverage through Verizon. Again, I was told that "it's a process" and that I needed to have come in before 3 PM. My biggest issue is not simply that my phone malfunctioned. Electronics can have defects. My issue is the complete lack of effort, concern, and customer service I received when I came back to the store that sold me the phone. I purchased this phone from this location. I made an appointment. I rearranged my workday and left my hospital shift early to get there. I arrived while the store was still open. I explained that the device was becoming dangerously hot, and instead of someone taking the time to help me understand my options or assist me with the next step, I felt like the priority was getting me out of the store so everyone could leave at 6 PM. After more than 20 years with Verizon, this is absolutely not the level of professionalism or customer service I have come to expect. There are other Verizon locations in the area. After doing more research, I learned about a common PS5 issue involving the liquid metal inside the system Because my console had been stored vertically since day one using Sony's official vertical stand, years of use had apparently caused the liquid metal to shift enough to create overheating problems. I started calling around for repair options and was being quoted turnaround times of 7-10 days. Then I remembered seeing videos from InstaFix on TikTok where they specifically discussed this exact PS5 issue and showed how they repair it. I called their Lake Forest location and spoke with YZ. Right away he was friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to answer my questions. Some people may look at that number and hesitate, but when you consider that a new PS5 costs well over $500, the expertise required to perform the repair correctly, and the fact that I got my console back fully repaired in about an hour, the value was obvious to me. In a world where it's becoming harder and harder to find businesses that combine expertise, honesty, fair pricing, and excellent customer service, InstaFix absolutely delivered. YZ treated me with respect, communicated clearly throughout the process, and got me back to gaming the same day.
