My husband and I stopped in for lunch after an appointment down the street. We ordered a large brisket pho, garlic beef rolls, a pulled pork sandwich and a Vietnamese coffee to go. We ordered our food to eat there. Our server was sweet and attentive. Everything we ordered was amazing! The large pho was more than enough to share and still took home a good size bowl. The sandwich was full of flavor and the veggies were fresh. We also ordered the garlic beef rolls and we were pleasantly surprised. When we ordered them we thought we were getting egg rolls but they were spring rolls. We got so excited when we were ordering that we didn't pay attention. LOL They were really yummy and I'd order them again. When we were done we ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee for the road and it was so delicious. The older woman who makes the broth is so kindhearted. She lets you know the secret to her pho and how hard she worked in hopes that you enjoyed it. I don't understand how this place is 4.5 stars. My husband and I just came here since it was semi close to the airport. This was the worst pho we've ever had. It took them awhile to get us the food. We ordered the small combo pho and large combo pho and spring rolls. When we finally got the pho, it came in To-go bowls? My husband's was hot but mine was super cold like it was left over pho from the night before and they didn't warm it up... We told the lady that mine was ice cold and she went back to microwave it.... So by the time she finished microwaving it, the noodles were super soggy. We tried the soup and it was flavorless and bland. As for the spring rolls, it was okay. We didn't even get water. My husband and I pretty much just ate the meat and left. It was super disappointing and expensive for no reason. The large combo was $16 and the regular was $13. The portion was pretty small. Not worth it. Had to go up to the register to even be acknowledged. Food now comes in paper "to-go" bowls...?? No spoons. Had to ask. Or else you can eat with your hands. No sauce dishes. COVID19: Open 11:30-7:30 (I think Tuesday-Sunday) This is a nice little mom & pop Pho place in a small strip center. Currently, parking is not an issue. But, I've heard it gets tight when business is usual. Couple of tables for 2 outside. Counter seating with bar stools for maybe 6-8. Booth seating is separated for COVID19 and seats maybe up to 8. No restroom that I saw. No alcoholic beverages served. No MSG. Now that's out of the way...the owner is very friendly. I told her how much my wife eats and later told her to look at my wife's bowl of pho compared to mine. My wife's was licked clean while mine was half full. She quickly defended my wife and said, "people eat fast are skinny...people eat slow are...fat" we burst into laughter. She is very proud of the broth in her pho. And it is tasty. Nice flavor, soothing and balanced. FULL of meat and noodles. The wings were delicious and can be had in varying spicynesses (is that a word). The rolls were crisp and fresh and again my wife downed those taking more than her share...lol! So while I may not be very colorful in describing the food...just know by my wife's enjoyment that this little local pho place is great for a quick bowl of pho and various other Vietnamese dishes. This tiny little restaurant has good Pho. Not much to choose from like a classic Pho joint only 3 flavors to choose from. But the beef pho was good. Broth was obviously cooked the old fashioned way. I was really disappointed about this place. Nearby and great reviews. Everything seemed normal and great at first but everything quickly went downhill. When i pulled out a napkin there was a spider crawling out of it. Along with this the sides near the wall were super dusty and unsanitary. Ive continued to order and was really happy with the pho. It was tasty until i noticed there was a fruit fly in my pho. I moved it aside and didnt worry too much until i ate again and found another fruit fly. I told the server 5/10 for service btw that there was 2 fruit flies and even showed her. She didn't believe me and said she didnt see anything despite me showing her. She although replaced my meal in which i lost my appetite to pho so i tried the bulgogi sandwich which was actually really good. Excellent pho with great service. As a vegan, this was the BEST vegan pho, and you can substitute zucchini noodles for the rice noodles for just $1. The tofu and veggie pho with vegan broth and zucchini noodles made this fantastic. And my husband greatly enjoyed his traditional beef pho. Service was terrific and very attentive. This little gem has the best Pho in town, hands down. Great quality meat, and delicious broth. Super nice staff/owners, I feel lucky I live so close. Oh and the Bahn mi are amazing. Service is non-existent. I wanted to give this hole-in-the-wall, mom and pop a try. Pho within walking distance, and I don't have to drive out to Garden Grove? Sign me up. When we got to the restaurant, there was a group waiting. Waited behind them. The group got seated, so we scooted up to where the group was standing. We waited about 10-15 minutes. The staff kept walking by us, but never looked at us a single time. If they had just looked at us and said "we are busy/understaffed, please hang tight" then we'd have stayed. 99 Pho in Los Alamitos is your standard hole-in-the-wall-in-a-strip-mall place. My wife and I have been here once before and we liked the flavor. My wife wanted "broth & noodles / choice of meat" instead of Pho this time. It was posted on the main board for $7.95. When she picked it, we were told the menu was incorrect. I thought that was pretty lame. They should've put a piece of tape or post-it over the item. At the very least, they should've just honored the choice and fixed their mistake later. So we both ordered Pho. There's no Pho under $10.95. We ordered take out, regular size. 1/2 container broth- small bag of sprouts, basil with soy -sriracha packets IN the bag with the food (they should not be). Small square container filled with noodles + 4 thin partial slices of chicken or the beef which was actually sliced looking roast beef lunch meat. When you combine the broth and meat & noodles together, it pretty much fills the container. It's waxed cardboard so its easy to re-heat but, flimsy, so be careful handling them. Definitely one star for flavor. The regular size order just seemed liked too little broth and too little meat for the price. So, between the cost, lack of parking, and the bait-and-switch event with the menu, we can't see coming back. There are many other Pho Restaurants with the same prices but better quality portions and choices. read more
