This place is oddly beautiful inside. I ended up here after heading to Mekong to find out they don't offer vegetarian broth! But this place DOES! The service was quick and friendly (you order at a counter and they bring it to your table). The pho was good (not the most amazing or fragrant but still very food). The vegetables were crisp and tasty (included broccoli which isn't usual but I love broccoli so I appreciated it). The inside is very clean and gorgeous. I LOVE this place!!! I crave it at least once a week. For a place called "PhoXpress", it's SUPER cute and the food is DELICIOUS. Here's the lowdown: 1) The place is casual but nice, high ceilings with lots of greenery and wood/bamboo feel. It's got almost a spa-ish vibe - very relaxing! 2) The food is amazing!! The banh mi is so tasty! I've had several meats - the pork belly is delish! The banh mi comes with a couple of yummy shrimp chimps and a small bowl of broth. The pho is flavorful and I love the beef meatballs! They have a spicy garlic sauce that I love to just dump into my soup! Not quite a traditional Vietnamese restaurant, PhoXpress is a little more contemporary with an open prep area and their menu on large screen flat panel screens. Prices are clear and the pictures certainly help. It's still the usual stuff - pho, bahn mi, spring rolls. I chose the "Rare Beef Xpress PHO w/meatball" and it was quite good. The broth had some deep flavor to it and the bowl was well loaded with noodles, sliced beef, sliced meatball and onions. Plus some very hot jalapenos! I also got the spring roll starter, which in this instance was three of them. Two went back to the hotel and into the fridge for later. I've been to many Pho restaurants throughout the whole east coast. This restaurant however has some of the best Pho I've ever had.

First off, I've had pho all my life as my mom would make it a lot, so it was always hard to find a place that made it better than momma's homemade pho. I just recently moved to NC so I've been trying Pho wherever I can and I can say the PhoXpress is def one of the top spots on my list. Their broth is very savory, yet light at the same time. Their meat portions are VERY generous where I wish I had a bit more noods, and usually I'm asking for the opposite. That's not a major miss though and other than that PhoXpress delivers. I really liked my banh mi but there are a few things I would change. The coconut mayo that they put on it was overwhelmingly sweet/too much for me, so if you order this I would ask for it on the side. I would also ask for more jalapeños and cilantro. But other than that, the sandwich was huge and really good. The tofu on it was lightly crispy with a garlicky flavor and the sandwich was huge, I couldn't finish it, so they give great portion sizes. The soup that comes with it has a nice flavor and maybe a hint of cinnamon and the "shrimp" cakes/chips were also really good and didn't taste shrimpy. We also ordered some fresh spring rolls and they were HUGE and fresh. Definitely recommend getting those. Over all, I would definitely eat here again & recommend this place, I would just make small changes like mentioned above. read more

I've been a loyal & happy customer here for 4+ years- and the people are great, in the past I thought they had one of the best pho broths around so it pains me to say that the last 4-5 times I've gotten food here (to go- b/c I've been pregnant or had a baby/toddler that limits my ability to eat in person)- I've been SO disappointed. The amount of meat is miniscule. Once or twice I was like "maybe a busy day, I'm taking out" but now it is just ridiculous, I cannot believe the prices I'm paying for TINY amounts of meat. Honestly- my new go-to place is Bonjour Bahn Mi (Cafe)- they are ALWAYS generous but they aren't open every day. So today I was once again reminded that as loyal of a customer as I've been with Pho Xpress over the years- they really have done the bare minimum the least year or so. It breaks my heart. So if I'd had the choice, I'd have ordered from Bonjour because they are FAR FARRRR more generous with their meat (and great summer rolls for cheaper). Why did y'all have to act like this? It's always popping when I come in to pick up my food but you do less. LIterally the bare minimum to get by now and that is sad. Oh boy. This is probably one of the worst pho places I've ever been to. However, the setting is nice and the decorations are fine. Why don't I like it? - The pho had no flavor. The only way to eat it is by drowning it with sriracha. Even then, we didn't finish our bowls. - Spring rolls are worst than when I make them myself. They were wrapped poorly. They were made with Fresh Express salad. And, the meat was super thin and chewy - again with no taste! - When I asked for fish sauce because I don't like peanuts, they looked at me like I was crazy. They didn't understand what I was asking for. Obviously, the workers here know nothing about Vietnamese cuisine. I had to ask for fish sauce 3 times; the last time I had to get up and point at it. This place make pretty good Pho. Their Banh Mi(vietnamese sandwiches) are really good as well. To me, the pricing is a tad expensive for Vietnamese food but in compared to a regular American restaurants like any burger joint, is about the same. I guess I am used to the vietnamese pricing. I can find a delicious vietnamese ham banh mi for 4$ on Capital but it quite a drive so I guess I have to put up with the pricing. Their Pho broth is truly delicious. I've ordered take out from PhoXpress on several occasions now and it is definitely my go-to for quick, easy and cheap Vietnamese. Every time I call, the person on the phone is friendly and nice and gives me an accurate estimate for when it'll be ready. As I live super close by, I'm always there on time and I've never had to wait for my food (always a plus!) I haven't dined in but it always looks clean and neat whenever I've been. It's more of a fast casual dining experience where you order at the counter, take a number and they bring it out to you (from what I saw). The food itself is tasty and fresh, but definitely average if you're looking for authentic Vietnamese food. I've enjoyed their beef pho and pork noodle bowls a lot and they've been consistently fresh and delicious. So if you're looking for a fast casual dining experience or take out, you should check out PhoXpress. If you're looking for a real dine-in restaurant with authentic Vietnamese food I'd suggest looking elsewhere. But with their convenient location (across from WalMart in Brier Creek) and how quick and affordable it is, I'll keep ordering from PhoXpress to get my pho and noodle bowl fix! Wait, Pho near my office in Raleigh? No way! I have been working in Raleigh for a few months now and have been missing Pho when I visit once or twice a month. Whenever I visit a Pho house for the first time, I always order the house special and the Vietnamese Egg Rolls. This is where my problem with this place comes in. The Pho extras (jalapeño, basil, and sprouts) are pre-mixed in to your soup, so you don't get to adjust to your tastes. Though your lime is left to the side so you can choose whether to add that. Thankfully you can ask for additional sprouts if you would like, so that is helpful. The menu is fairly limited. If you're accustomed to getting Pho at a more traditional restaurant, you will immediately notice that tripe, tendon, and other bits are missing from their menu. Not to mention the most American of Asian dishes, the Vietnamese Egg Rolls with mint and lettuce to wrap it in. To clarify, they DO have Egg Rolls, but they are extremely basic and could have easily been purchased frozen at the Walmart across the street and fried up here. Nice little space - I especially like the thick pine tables and bench seating. There is some outdoor seating - too shaded for a cool November day, but should be nice when it's warmer. This is an order-at-the-counter place, great when you want a quick lunch. The menu was a little confusing, since I'd picked out what I wanted from their website only to find out when I got there that they no longer have lunch combos. My wife and our friends tried pho (two rare beef with meatballs and 1 special), I ordered beef bánh mì, and we shared chicken and pork spring rolls. The pho broth and meat were pretty good, perhaps slightly above average for Triangle area restaurants. The veggies were already in the broth when brought to the table, unlike the American standard of a side plate of Thai basil, bean sprouts, jalapenos. Saves a little time and table space, but I would prefer adding my own. Seemed like a lot less Thai basil than you normally get, but more cilantro, which is good for me! My friend that ordered the special says it definitely wasn't worth the extra $4. The bánh mì itself (bánh mì means bread in Vietnamese) was outstanding, a little chewy with a crisp crust, but the filling was just so-so. The beef seemed unseasoned, the veggies on the sandwich a little skimpy, the veggies seemed just raw instead of pickled, and the mayo was a little too sweet. Not much flavor other than the bread, which was great. An additional disappointment is that they don't have the most common bánh mì filling of cold cuts and pate. Definitely one of the best bánh mì breads I've had here or in Vietnam (and my Vietnamese wife loved it, too), but the filling is a big letdown. Oddly, the bánh mì was accompanied on the plate by a miniature American-Chinese-style fried spring roll with duck sauce (blech) for dipping. The spring rolls were large and homemade dipping sauce for the spring rolls was very good, but the meat inside was bland and the chicken dry. We all enjoyed them overall. We didn't try any drinks except for Thai iced tea, which was quite good. Definitely worth a stop for a quick bite if you're in the area, but not worth going too far out of the way for. read more

Jackfruit bubble tea was very tasty however most of the tapioca balls were borderline frozen and sticking together so you couldn't suck them through the straw. Just like the name phoxpress this is a place where you order like a cafeteria style- pay and get your own table type of deal (which is just fine). Price: high for what it is Food: we ordered pho (house combination) beef pho and pork spring rolls. We were severely disappointed. Broth lacked major flavor- it was missing lots of staple Vietnamese spices. This place might be okay for a person who is trying pho for the first time- to gain an idea of what it looks like but I felt that this place was shy to introduce real Vietnamese flavor. The noodle was severely over cooked. The noodle shouldn't break when you grab the noodle with your chopstick. Lacking herb as well. Spring rolls... my temporalis were sore for couple days. The rice paper was hard- pork had no flavor and I don't think it was marinated. Peanut dipping sauce was bland as well. Service: it was decent. They were nice. One young guy training who made me repeat my order 4 times but I understand that he is training. The old lady who seems to be the owner or manager was very nice as well. But I did get disappointed when I dropped the cap of a sauce jar on the floor and gave it to the staff as I apologize for dropping it on the floor he smiled and grabbed it and put it back on the jar. My husband and I were in route from Maryland and decided to give this location a try. The first RED FLAG was just how unorganized the establishment was. Even with table numbers, they still kept getting people's orders wrong. My husband ordered the grilled pork chop with rice and I order a large Pho Beef Brisket and Flank Steak soup. I also ordered a mango bubble tea. It was very, very disappointing. You couldn't even taste the mango at all, it had no flavor whatsoever. Will not order it again. They brought my husband the wrong meal; they brought him a bowl of soup and not the grilled pork and rice platter as ordered. So he had to wait again for his meal. My Pho soup broth was very tasty, however, the brisket and flank steak was VERY TOUGH. VERY TOUGH and RUBBERY. They needed to be cooked longer to tenderize them. My husband said his grilled pork with rice platter was very good. This place hands down by far has the best Vietnamese food I've ever had in my life which says a lot because I've had it all over the world. Their Pho is outstanding! My favorite thing to get at a Vietnamese restaurant though is the vermicelli bowls and they absolutely have the best one I've ever had. I always get the chicken one and it is so fresh and delicious. They have generous portions so my meal from there always last me for two meals. Awesome! Their customer service is also outstanding. Their service is quick and with a smile. We dropped in pretty late recently after a long day and we were so impressed with how quickly they made and packaged out to go order. I wish I knew the name of the young African American guy that helped us in there recently. He had an amazing personality. We really enjoyed talking to him. I went to this Vietnamese restaurant for the 2nd time today for lunch with a friend. I had visited the same restaurant about 6 weeks ago and had a not so good experience but wanted to try again in case that was an isolated incident PLUS the location was convenient for me today. I LOVE Pho and I have eaten at a few different Vietnamese restaurants locally in the past few years. Today, we both ordered the same thing-- veggie pho, a veggie roll and a bubble tea. The same thing happened as it did last time....the soup came out in a reasonable time frame but no rolls or tea.. I asked the server if they would be arriving soon. The flavor of the soup itself is just OK - not great and does not come with all the cool sides Pho normally comes with. We both started eating our soup. The tea came out a few minutes later.... and 10 minutes passed. I went up to the counter and asked again where our rolls were. I sat back down and we had both eaten probably half our pho when I decided to ask for a 3rd time where our rolls were. They finally came out just as we were finishing our soup. If the flavor of the soup was really good, maybe just maybe I would deal with the poor service but it really isn't that great compared to others in the area. I won't be returning. One last thing- I realize that pho is usually made with meat broth which can be relied upon to give it its flavor but I am vegetarian and I always choose the veggie option at the Vietnamese restaurants I visit and there are some VERY nicely flavored veggie options offered so I know it can be done. read more
