I got takeout once when I was feeling under the weather, their to-go packaging was very convenient for at home assembly. I ordered their pork vermicelli and chicken wonton soup! Great food and highly recommended coming here. Tried the pho and Banh mi and they were awesome. The broth was delicious in the pho. I was blown away by the Banh mi not only was the bread great but their flavors were well balanced. The owners are very nice and gives a lot of care in what they prepare. This is a tiny place. There was no problem getting a place to sit though. it was kind of stuffy in there. There was a big fan blowing. We were promptly greeted by a young lady. I was disappointed because they were out of the things my husband and I Wanted to order. They ran out of vermicelli and banh mi. I ordered salt and pepper wings and a short rib plate. I like how I was able to switch my white rice to brown. The wings were ok. I wouldn't say they were extremely crispy. I know it was salt and pepper chicken but it was a little too salty for me. The short ribs were kind of thin. The broth that came with the meal tasted different than what I am used to. I finished it but I wouldn't say I loved it. they do have a nice painting on the wall and cute table numbers. I think the owner said hello to us towards the end of our meal. She was friendly. Great, attentive service. Their beef broth is light, natural, and has an herbal aroma . If you don't like herb taste, you can try pork broth. It is also very good. My wife had a Wonton Soup, and she totally loves it. My wife and I live in NOVA and ended up visiting Pho Vy when we visited the area. My wife is 100% Vietnamese and she felt at home when we ate here. My wife cooks authentic Vietnamese Pho, Bun Bo Hue, and Bun Mam. This restaurant had a very authentic taste. Absolutely outstanding. I read some of the other reviews and then realized they probably don't know what authentic Pho really is. You want a true Vietnamese flavor you got to try Pho Vy. read more

I got the beef stew and this is what they gave me. I don't know if they ran out and just gave me what's left or what but I got a half portion. Vy is so sweet and friendly and really made sure my friends and I were satisfied. Everything was colossally delicious. The vermicelli dishes (both the vegetarian and the combo meat/shrimp) were yummy, the pho was tasty, the BBQ pork bahn mi sandwich was perfection, and the spring rolls were spectacular. The egg soda was phenomenal, as were the avocado smoothie and the Thai iced tea. But the Vietnamese coffee was beyond. My friend asked for her tea to be diluted a little, because it was sweeter than she likes, so when she ordered the coffee to-go, Vy sweetened exactly the way my friend (and I) liked it. They have a separate vegetarian menu that includes vegan items, so make sure you ask for that menu if you're looking for those options. read more

Benicia's tastebuds must be broken because why does this place have good reviews? I stopped by here because of the good reviews and because it's the closest pho place, which I was super excited about. Since this place is fairly new, the menu is a big smaller than other pho places, but I saw that they also have Banh Mi's on their menu. I ordered the Rare steak pho. It was strange because usually, once I order, the food comes out almost instantly. This bowl of pho took like 10 minutes to get to my table. They also don't have limes, they have lemons, which I feel like didn't help the taste of this pho.. I had to add so much hoisin sauce and sirracha (at least they have the original sirracha) to save it. It just didn't taste like the authentic pho I was craving. The steak also looked very dry and too dark.. usually, steak is super thin to where it cooks nicely in the broth. But, their steak was thick, dark, and wrinkly. It did not look fresh or appetizing. I think driving the extra 10 mins to Pho #1 or Pho Vallejo is more worth it. read more

Food was tasty, service was good, and my family really enjoyed our meal here! Service was prompt, and they were friendly and quick to seat our party of 7. Wife ordered grilled shrimp rice plate, I had the combo rice plate (pork, short ribs, shrimp), daughter got grilled salmon; we also got the grilled squid appetizer. My parents got the won ton soup, and kept raving about jt (I'm not a big fan, lol). The granduncle/aunt got the pork barbecue dish and another order of grilled salmon. I ordered my food to go. The ambiance is just ok. It's not a place I would want to sit down and eat. It did look clean just a small place and parking maybe an issue. Very happy with my food to go. They helped carry it to my car. Offering first without me having to ask. They were very polite and I even added to my order and it was done in a good amount of time. I enjoyed my tea/lemonade and I love the packaging it was like boba tea so it was easier to transport then regular cups and straws. I ordered the chicken bah mi which was recommended to try and it was delicious. I will definitely order to go again from here. read more

I'm no expert on Vietnamese food, but having been to Vietnam a couple of times I've tried some good pho - the hearty stew that's so popular there - and what they offer at Pho Vy stands up well in comparison. This friendly family restaurant definitely has a home country feel to it, and I mean that in all sorts of positive ways. If you do get pho - which, again, I heartily recommend - be aware that the menu features beef variations on pho, but doesn't use the term pho to label the shrimp, pork and chicken options in that way, even though they're the same dish (except for the type of protein). Also, if you haven't had pho before, use the three condiments on the table to make the dish hotter, sweeter or more sour. And don't forget to add in the mint and other ingredients which they serve alongside the pho, but which are meant to be dumped into the broth. read more

I walked in on a Sunday at 5:30. The cashier asks whether I'll be dining in or ordering takeout. I tell her takeout. She tells me they close at 6:00. I'm looking at the menu and she reminds me that they close at 6. I figure out what I want within 2-3 minutes, tops. I pay, and she proceeds to tell me, again, that they close at 6 as if the ball were still in my court. At this point I wish I could have just not ordered anything as the food was mediocre. I'm first generation American with Southeast Asian parents and I grew up in a tight knit Southeast Asian community. The food was definitely watered down to say the least. The Best Bahn Mi EVER! The bread is warm and crunchy on the outside soft inside. Vys charbroiled pork is juicy and flavorful. I see some reviews complaining about portion but my order was very generous. I've also had the charbroiled chicken vermicelli and again super flavorful and a great portion. Came here on my way home from Sacramento. This cute place is located right behind a gas station right off of highway 780 so very conveniently located. They were having 20% off for Mother's Day special so of course I ordered more things to try. We got spring rolls, egg rolls, mango smoothie, and combination vermicelli noodles. We enjoyed everything! Spring rolls were big and super yummy! Their mango smoothie is very good also and you can tell they do not use powder or syrup to make it which I really like! I have only been here once so far, but my chicken banh mi was delicious! Great flavor, fresh tasting veggies, and I also thought it had the perfect amount of spice (maybe ask for no peppers if you don't like spicy, it did have a kick!). Also affordable and prepared quickly. I just wish they would quote you accurately for food times when getting food to-go (not just an issue here, but honestly everywhere). I got there almost 10 minutes earlier than they quoted me and my food was ready. I don't like the idea of my food sitting around getting cold/soggy. Just give us a range if you're not sure. Regardless, I'll be back if looking for banh mi in the area again, or maybe to try other items on their menu and will update my review if so. read more

Tried the chicken banh mi and it was excellent. Bread was super fresh, lightly toasted for a crisp exterior while the inside was soft and chewy, the way it should be. Chicken was flavorful, nicely seasoned, charred and juicy. Vegetables were also fresh and sandwich size was generous, not small. It was one of the better tasting banh mi I've had anywhere. I'm so happy to have found this new spot in Benicia! The food was great. First up I tried the combination beef pho. I ordered this meal as takeout so I was immediately impressed by the careful packaging. Everything was separated in a container box which made it easy to assemble at home. The pho broth was flavorful and had a great depth and you could taste the cloves and cinnamon undertones. So delicious when paired with the hoisin and a little siracha for a kick! There was plenty of beef and I actually could only eat half. The way it's packaged I can easily store overnight in the fridge and warm up the next day. Next I tried a bbq chicken rice plate and that was delicious as well. There was a large portion of well seasoned grilledchicken that was fork tender. The cucumbers, shredded lettuce and carrots on the side were fresh and a nice bright compliment to the plate when drizzled with the sweet vinegar sauce they give you in the side. Finally I enjoyed a few pieces of the pork gyoza and found it to be well prepared. Slightly crispy but soft and tender in the inside. Our first time here and it was delicious! I met the owner, Vy who memorized everyone's order and brought out the dishes promptly. I ordered the well done beef pho. The broth was nice and hot, and flavored perfectly! My father-in-law tried the chicken curry and said the chicken was very tender and delicious! He couldn't stop talking about his meal! We had chicken wings (5 pieces) and wish we had more. My niece had chicken noodle soup and even as a picky eater, really enjoyed it! There was also BBQ pork and pork chop dishes that I didn't get to photo, because the taste of both of these were amazing too I heard! We shared the octopus appetizer which was cooked perfectly. Finally we ordered a few boba smoothie drinks for our dessert. I liked the avocado with boba, my niece enjoyed the mango and my other niece had the tea with boba. A hidden gem!!! The food was delicious, I ordered a lychee tea, pho with brisket and salt & pepper chicken wings. The pho broth was flavorful, I didn't leave a drop. The chicken wings were very crispy, fresh and the lychee tea was very yummy. The service was friendly and the ambiance was cozy plus the morals were so great to look at while eating. Prices are competitive, if not better than most. Food was good. I had the BBQ Shrimp rice plate and a Pork Bahn Mi. Bahn Mi size fit the price and the roll was softer than the typical French roll, but I actually like the texture better. The rice plate was adequate. 9 pieces of shrimp seemed like the right amount and they had a lot of flavor. Staff was nice. Inside was clean and welcoming (the mural was cool). Great pho and the best Pho in Benicia. Was there at the grand opening with my family. My husband like the combination ( pork/chicken/shrimp) of vermicelli high recommend it. The meat is juicy and tasty shrimp. Will come back to try they " Banh mi" Vietnamese sandwiches next time. read more
