Bon Bo hue
Daraja C.

The hot tea was everything for my throat. Tasted like lemon with some sweetness and was so tasty and came in a pint glass so was a good amount. Bon bo hue is 10/10. So flavorful on its own and the extra sriracha and hoisin is right at the table if you need. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went at 3pm on a Tuesday and it wasn't too busy at all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was quicker than I expected and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance was chill enough for me to be calmly listening to my audiobook and answering work emails without loud noise or distraction.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will definitely be back even when I don't need to sweat out any sickness!

Vegetable Pho

The service is awesome, friendly and welcoming. The vegetable pho was great. Big chunks of vegetables and plenty of noodles. I really enjoyed my lunch.

A pretty casual spot but Pho Viet packs a lot of flavor into its dishes, which are priced between about $10-20. I ordered the chicken rice bowl, which came with vegetables and soup. It's right on H St, just off a streetcar stop and just blocks from Union Station, making it an easy place to access.

Buns...okay but not great. Pretty flavorless besides the sauce.

I wanted to like this place, especially since I picked it over somewhere my wife picked, and boy was I disappointed. They put a ton of black pepper on everything! The pho had a ton of pepper. The lemongrass chicken had no lemon grass flavor, but you guessed it, had tons of pepper. The Bun Bo Hue tasted nothing like BBH, but yes, had tons of pepper. The Thai tea boba was so overly sweet that my 14 yo son took two sips and left it. Not to mention that the boba was all clumped up. The service was horrible. On the hottest day of the year, there is no or low AC, and had to ask for water about 3-4 times before the finally brought it, and never offered to refill. My BBH was brought out AFTER everyone else was basically done. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And the restroom was a storage room for everything except toilet paper and working paper towel dispenser.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sad Uber ride back to the hotel...avoid if you're considering.

Decided to try some pho for dinner at this restaurant. The portion sizes are very good for the price, and the pho is delicious. Staff is friendly and helpful, menu selection good, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]dine in area nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, we had a great dinner here.

This is supposedly banh mi Bo kho. This is not bo kho. Bo Kho is Vietnamese beef stew.

Quick and To The Point: I've worked and hung out in the greater H St area for years and this was my first visit. Based on the DoorDash volume, it was quite evident that this is a popular spot because there were about eight bags waiting to be picked up. I came for lunch to grab the special combination rice, and despite the rush going on, the attendant greeted me and recommended that I take the time to view the menu . I did not want pickles in my combination and did request for it to be spicy, that Being said it was delicious, especially the chicken, the preparation seemed fresh and not like traditional Chinese carryout . I will be back again, for another to go bite. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The side of the establishment is rather small, but for those who really want to know, the bathroom was impeccably clean, which was also a plus[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] .

I'm new to Pho and I really enjoyed my visit here. I ordered the spring rolls and the crab shrimp rolls to start which were delicious . It was my first time so the lady who assisted me was so helpful and patient with me with ordering. I actually been 3 times so far. I tried the beef brisket pho and seafood. One of my visit I just ordered spring rolls and the shrimp rolls. Between the beef and seafood my favorite was the seafood one. The only thing I regret is I ordered to go , which meant I had to go home and warm it up. I believe In order to get the real experience of pho is to eat while it's hot at the restaurant. I will go back to sit down and eat with an updated review.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]My first impression of this place is a very authentic tucked away little place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered online and went to pick up after work. The person working at the counter was very nice and addressed me by name and with a nice demeanor. It was so refreshing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is cute, I wish I got pics but this was a quick stop for me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the steak and brisket pho.. OMG AMAZING! My two year old even had a blast with it. Will be back for sure!

The pho always hits the spot! They never disappoint when I come here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a small family owned establishment and I always feel welcomed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This time I switched out the noodles in the garlic beef summer rolls for rice and they were remarkable. I will continue to get it this way for now on! You should try them..... Oh and their peanut sauce is soooooo good! Thank me later! lol

Before we even walked into the restaurant, we were informed that the left entrance door had been broken for quite some time. Since we had a double baby stroller with us, getting inside was a bit of a challenge and not exactly the best first impression. Overall Ratings Atmosphere - 3/5 Service - 3/5 Food - 3/5 Parking - Street Parking Atmosphere - The restaurant feels a bit old and dated and could probably use some updating. Interestingly, while the dining room definitely shows its age, the ordering system is modern and up to date. The contrast between the two was pretty noticeable. Service - Service was just okay. This is more of a casual setup where customers place their orders at the counter and the staff bring the food out when it's ready. There wasn't really anything memorable, either good or bad, about the service experience. What We Ordered - -Spring Rolls (Good) -Pho Dac Biet (Special Beef Pho) - The flavor was good overall, but the broth was only lukewarm when it arrived. A bowl of pho really needs to be piping hot, so this took away from the experience. -Grilled Pork Rice Plate - The pork was a bit too salty for my taste and was just okay overall. Final Thoughts - This was an average dining experience. The food was decent, the service was adequate, and the atmosphere was nothing particularly special. Nothing stood out enough to make me want to go out of my way to return, but I also wouldn't discourage others from trying it if they're already in the area. There are simply other Vietnamese restaurants nearby that I would be more inclined to visit first.

The standout for me is their spicy lemongrass pho - I had never tried anything like it before coming here, and honestly, it was kind of life-changing. It's like the perfect fusion of pho and bún bò Huế, with that rich, aromatic lemongrass flavor and a spicy kick that you can level up if you're feeling bold. It's one of those dishes I think about long after I leave. Of course, I had to get a Vietnamese iced coffee (cà phê sữa đá), and it did not disappoint. Super strong, perfectly sweet, and I love that you can actually watch it brew right at your table - it just adds to the whole experience. The vibe of the place is warm and homey, which makes it really easy to relax and enjoy your meal. The staff are always incredibly kind and welcoming too, which keeps me coming back just as much as the food does. I was overwhelmed by the size of the bowl at first but ended up finishing it because it was so tasty, but more than that, it was comforting on a cold day. I also did the egg rolls, which were so crispy and almost too hot on my first bite of how fresh they were. I was so glad I finally got a chance to visit, it didn't disappoint!! There are many tables in the restaurant and it is much bigger than you realize when you first walk in. Our server was extremely helpful, both with choosing drinks and food. I chose the IPA from Brooklyn that I very much enjoyed. My friend selected the the Vietnamese beer that he liked a lot. The ladies enjoyed their wine, my wife chose the one from S. Africa. As this was our first visit, we decided to go with the tasting menu. It has various names as the chef includes different dishes. It includes an amuse bouche, several appetizers, entrees from fish, meat, and a vegetarian choice. I think my favorites of all were the stuffed leaf with wagyu beef and grilled bamboo. The bamboo was sweet and chunky, I had never eaten bamboo-it's great!. Everything we ate was excellent. The pacing of the meal was comfortable: we were able to enjoy each course without hurry but dinner didn't require a 2 1/2 experience. Our dessert was also very interesting with a combination of flavorful ice cream with other delectables. The price of the tasting menu was $95pp plus tax and 20% service already added. I highly recommend this for dinner. I've paid much more for a lot less in quality and quantity in the District.
