The food is delicious. There's no doubt about it. I have ate here over 20 times and the food has always been good. Now the only thing I have been really disappointed with is the treatment I get. I order so many times from here and every single time the lady is very rude to me. I've never been rude to her or anything but just calling in to order food is a reason. She hangs up on me all the time and barely lets me finish my order before I'm hung up on. I would love to keep eating here but just the way I'm treated is disappointing. 1ST time here and I am a fan. Came with my wife, daughter and her boyfriend. Started with the Vietnamese egg rolls and dumplings. Wonderful. I had a large rare steak and brisket pho.My wife had a small pho ga. My daughter had shrimp fried rice and her boyfriend had beef fried rice. The food was wonderful. The service was even better.I love the fact that this is a small, no frills dining experience. We were there early Saturday....6PM. It was freezing outside and the pho was perfect. Happen to drive by this little joint and had to try it! I am a big pho fan, but I am picky. It is definitely small, more of a family owned hole in the wall compared to Bowl of Pho. We had 6 people in our group and they had to put some tables together for us. The guy was very nice and polite and so was the lady, probably his mom? They did have a variety on their menu. I had the pho with everything in it. My husband had the S1, the spicy one. He really enjoyed it, matter of fact, he said it was the best he's had. My 2 cousin and I had the same and we finished our bowls, down to the last drop of broth. It was very flavorful! My husband and I went back again since it was closer and it was a good experience. Best Vietnamese in the area. The spicy soup is like a dream in liquid form. The menu is extensive with lots of interesting choices, there are these little fried beef roll-ups that I would seriously drive to Mayport and eat every night if I could. Vegetarian menu is NOT vegetarian! I know, traditionally pho is not vegetarian. However, nowadays many traditional restaurants offer vegetarian friendly options on their menus. Nope, not here. Before trying a new restaurant, I make sure they have options for me or are willing to accommodate me. I call ahead and make sure and calling ahead to this place was no different. After looking through their menu we ordered the tofu spring rolls (A-10), which were okay. My boyfriend, who is a meat eater, ordered a P-5 and he found it also just okay and a bit bland. I ordered off of their vegetarian menu, a noodle pho with lots of fresh vegetables (V-1). After returning home with our take-out, I asked my bf to taste the broth to make sure it was vegetarian. After letting it sit for a moment, I noticed meat particles settling at the bottom. I called the restaurant again and asked the owner if the vegetarian pho was made with a veggie broth or if it was a meat broth. The owner stated that they only use beef broth even though earlier she insisted that the veggie pho was indeed vegetarian. I was about to explain to her that her menu is misleading and that her "vegetarian pho" is not at all vegetarian and shouldn't be included in that portion of the menu. But she hung up on me mid sentence. So not only does this place have an incorrect menu, they were unprofessional, had terrible service, and we weren't given an apology let alone a refund. I don't appreciate being mislead and wasting money on something I can't even enjoy. On a brighter note, I have found one place with a legit vegetarian pho in Jacksonville. It's called A Little Bit of Saigon, and their food is amazing! We wanted to branch out and try a new place, but unfortunately it did not work out. I guess we'll stick with what we know. read more

It seems like you always find the best food in random spots. This particular Pho joint is situated in a pretty bleak little strip mall with a greek restaurant and little, if anything, else. The restaurant itself is a basic restaurant without anything fancy, but very home-y. In fact, the place is run by a family and tastes as if you are part of it: authentic. The father is chef, mother as hostess, and sons as waiters and cashiers. You will be very well taken care of here. As for the food, it was just me eating and I had a hankering for some beef pho. The meat itself was surprisingly tender and the broth wasn't overwhelming. Very well balanced. The anise flavor noticeable and delicious. The pho is served with all the fixins like you would expect: mint, bean sprouts, and the like.. Put in some sriracha if you're willing to kick it up a notch!! read more

I love this place! If ever there was a Mom and Pop, this is it. He cooks. She serves. (that's severely oversimplifying it, but it's pretty much it). The kids also work the front of the house when they aren't in school. The food is amazing and I'm completely addicted. If I'm NOT there for 8-10 days, I think they start to worry about me! Skip the standard fried rice dishes and dive into the Pho and other noodle dishes. You can get fried rice at hundreds of joints, but only a handful of places in town--and only one near the beaches--does Vietnamese like this! That said, the grilled pork and chicken plates come with rice and a great salad, so even if you're with a bunch of gringos, there is something for anyone. First my group got served second even though we were their first customers of the day, my sweet tea was some weird honey water sh** next i sucked up a blond 2 ft blonde hair out of the bottow of my glass, the egg rolls things were eh okay. The pho beef/meatball sh** was tragic at best. The soup portion tasted like BO or a sweaty foot im not sure which, there was a couple shreds of beef and a really weird tastless blobs of meatball (this is questionable at best due to lack of a positive meatball I.D.) after paying and leaving i made it 5 minutes down the road before pulling over and vomiting uncontrollably. Wouldn't recommend, unless you'd like to vomit for $ plus server tip. ***Update*** Within 20 minutes on of my other dining companions is now vomiting uncontrollably after I did.*** read more

The best food, the best people, and by far the best Vietnamese spot in town! We could eat there every single day of the week and never try everything on their huge menu but now that we have found our favorites we have a hard time trying anything new. The grilled pork rice vermicelli is to die for and the Pho is PERFECT whether you have it with rare steak, beefballs, or shrimp you simply can't go wrong! Small restaurant in unfortunate location, but the food and service are great. No alcohol for sale on site, but I saw other tables with BYO wine. If you're heading north on Mayport Road, you won't see the place, as they're in a strip mall that is perpendicular to the street, and the street signage is small. Look for "Nick the Greek", they share the same parking lot. If you head out via Wonderwood, and are heading south on Mayport Road, you'll have to make a U-turn about a block south to get there, as there's no median cut. Prices are very reasonable, ambiance is a notch or two above "Spartan." The other reviews have covered anything I might add, except that I look forward to return visits. read more

Came here after reading Yelp reviews. Did NOT disappoint. Got the Tofu and Veggie Pho (V-1) and egg rolls. Egg rolls were crisp, hot, and delicious. Try some garlic chili sauce on them and prepare for the heat! The Pho was awesome. The broth was fresh and "clean." Flavorful without a ton of salt. Veggies were crisp and plentiful. Added plenty of chili peppers and garlic chili sauce. Wife got the grilled chicken salad as an appetizer. Chicken was tender and moist. Just a hint of dressing which was light and fresh. Wife got the Pho Ga. Luckily for me she added too much chili sauce and she allowed me to devour the rest. Chicken again was moist and tender. Went on a fairly busy Friday night, took about 5 minutes before we even got acknowledged to be seated. I ordered the bun bo hue and it was nothing like bun bo hue should be. The color was off, it looked like pho broth with spices in it. It also was missing the pig jello and ham hock nor did they have it as an option. I love this place! All their food is great, especially their pho soup. I am from California , so when moving to Jacksonville, I was really missing all the Vietnamese food. When I found out about this place, I was really happy! The ambience is nice and relaxing. The guitar music playing in the background, while the smell of pho lingers throughout the whole restaurant. This has got to be the best Pho in jax! Full of meat, thick flavorful broth, they bring you a big plate of sprouts and herbs to add to your soup, and the service is just amazing. My second favorite thing on the menu is the bahn mi. If I could get them to give me a pho bowl sized portion of that grilled pork I'd be the happiest woman on the planet. Id have to eat one handed and fight off my boys with the other though...
