I was so underwhelmed that I packed the rest up just so I could go home and try to "doctor it up" myself with some seasoning and pepper. Fast forward...even the remix at home couldn't save it. The food was just not giving. The service, however, was quick, and the staff seemed kind. There was definitely a language barrier though, which made it hard to ask questions or get recommendations, and that took away from the experience a bit. As for the decor, it's a pretty large venue with a standard setup. Nothing particularly memorable besides the occasional Korean imagery throughout the space. Overall, I really wanted to enjoy this spot, but the food just missed the mark for me.

Today, I gave them another shot because Uber Eats was offering a buy one, get one free deal on the jerk chicken meal. I chose rice & peas with plantain for my sides. The chicken was cooked on the grill--which I love--because it really brings out the flavor in jerk chicken. I also requested my jerk sauce on the side since I prefer a dry rub style over a saucy one. The only drawback was the small bone pieces in the chicken and rice. That's something to be cautious about, especially if a child is eating the meal. The plantains were also inconsistent--some pieces were hard, while others were mushy. On the bright side, the coco bread was perfect and the Jamaican rum cake was phenomenal. Whoever baked that cake clearly took their time soaking it in rum. It reminded me of the way my grandmother used to make it--absolutely delicious. I would definitely order the rum cake again.

Usually with brunch we would do the bottomless mimosas and all but because I was driving I decided not to participate in that. And usually I would get chicken and waffles but I was in the mood for a burger. So I thought because their name is "Mad Cow" the burger would be the bomb...but nope it was not good at all. So I prefer a beef burger cooked medium with blue cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onions. When I burger got tot the table it was dry as a board. No blue cheese that I paid extra for and the burger was not cooked correctly it was cooked well done. Smdh. So the waiter brought me my blue cheese apologized about it and also gave me a mayo bottle. Even with the burger still was not good and the patty was so thick with no flavor not even salt and pepper was in it!! I tried their punch drink which was really good but for $15 a pop in a regular water glass was ridiculous. Make sure you don't get too tipsy as they already have like a 20% gratuity added on each of our checks no matter how small or big your group is which again is ridiculous! Will I come back...maybe only because I would like to try some Jamaican food they offer. But for brunch...it's a no for me!

We were headed to Amber Spice for a late lunch, and fortunately, we made it in before the 2:45pm cutoff (I called ahead to check). Since it was almost lunch closing, they did request that we place our orders soon after being seated. We already knew what we wanted to order, so we didn't feel rushed otherwise. We started with the veggie samosas ($6, two pieces), which were served with the traditional tamarind sauce and spicy cilantro chutney. The samosas were packed with the potato and pea filling and had a lightly crisp exterior. They were as good as any. For my entree, I ordered the butter chicken ($20), which is served with a side of basmati rice. When ordering, the waiter didn't ask about spice level. I did find their butter chicken to have some heat to it, but it wasn't anything crazy - I'd say a 3/10 for spiciness - I felt the warmth. The chicken was super tender and moist. I would be happy getting this again. I also ordered the garlic naan ($5), because you have to have something to sop up the curry goodness. The naan was hot and fresh; you could also taste the garlic. One basket came with four pieces (one whole naan), which is perfect for sharing. I finished the meal with the gulab jamun ($6) for dessert which came with three pieces of the fried dough balls served in a sweet syrup. My friend ordered the mango kulfi and loved it! She described it as a mango lassi, but frozen, which made it that much more light and refreshing. Amber Spice is a casual dining spot and it has the service to match. We were brought a carafe of water for the table to start, so it was self-serve the rest of the way. Food was brought out quickly and plates were cleared at the end, but we weren't checked on during the meal. Perhaps since we arrived near lunch closing, service was winding down, but we got what we needed. I enjoyed the food here and would come again. Everything that we had was not only super tasty, but also reasonably priced. There's also plenty of parking in the shopping center.

The prices in other areas like Flushing, NY are a bit better, but i felt like I found a solid spot. The texture of the dumplings were moist & the dumpling sauce was very good with the ginger. I came a couple of weeks ago confident I was going to get the same taste, but the flavors aren't always consistent as well as the dumpling itself. They were smaller in size & tougher to bite into. I usually am at a comfortable "full" feeling after one order, but by the time I was finished with one order I felt hungrier.. lol I literally went to go eat EXPEDITIOUSLY after. This spot is located inside of Kung Fu Tea, which makes it feel more like a quick stop than a sit-down place. I believe they have a standalone location elsewhere and honestly, a bit more ambiance would help. The Columbia location, for example, feels much cozier. I'd love to see more consistency in the dumplings themselves. The Mala dumplings can be really good one day and not as great the next. Still, I think they're worth trying if you're nearby and craving something quick! 10/10 experience overall when they're fresh and hot. Here's the order of perfection: 1 (Red) Mala Chicken - 20/10 perfection. 2 (White) Pork - another 20/10, absolutely solid. 3 (Black) Truffle & Pork - 15/10, rich and earthy. 4 (Green) Shrimp - 8/10, still enjoyable but lighter. 5 (Yellow) Chicken - 6/10 (it kinda tasted like the smell of tap water at first ).
