I even had put my mouth on it to sip on the broth ... super grossed out , but what really made this experience terrible is I told our server that I can't finish my pho knowing this bowl is not clean . He then said "it looks finished to me " . Halfway through is finished ?! Like what? It was really unprofessional and just rude . Found this spot by pure accident. We happen to be in the neighborhood and we're craving for Vietnamese food. This one had better review so we did not hesitate. We re in the middle of this covid mess so the restaurant had the dining hall all set up with the social distancing. We felt very comfortable. Our waiter was with us in no time. When I need the pho in Santee I go here. Im not a fan of the chain Phuc-it-all I'm mean pho-ca-doa. Santee pho/Van Pho (Tax Loop hole. See this everyday in El Cajon. Pass the business to a family member, then change the name every two years to avoid profitable taxes. you are allowed to write your business off as a loss for two years without paying any taxes) Not the best in the world definitely can use a brooth press to squeeze that marrow out of the bones and give it that nice dark broth. Egg rolls are frozen factory bought. If eggrolls are perfectly uniform and not ugly you know for sure they are not handmade in house. But they're still decent with the super hot soup. The BEST Pho I have ever had! The smell is tantalizing and the taste is amazing. The broth is so delicious. I had the rare steak the first time and the rare steak, chicken, and shrimp a few days later. (I had to go back!). The large bowl is perfect for enjoying some there and taking plenty home. This Vietnamese restaurant is excellent Pho sho. I've been to the one in El Cajon and menu is CCd. Regular bowl is huge as usual, Fried rice is excellent and Egg Rolls are huge. The servers are super nice and fast. It's roomy and don't have to worry about waiting. Tried the Beef Broth with Veggie for the 1st time and I must say that it was hand downs. The wings had a great flavor, the egg rolls were the best we ever had, crispy and delicious and a great size. The Pho included a lot of meat and veggie toppings which is usually hard to get elsewhere. The chicken noodle was just ok due to the chicken being pretty dry but the flavor was good. Pho Van is absolutely my favorite Pho place in East County! It is always super clean inside, with lots of seating, and friendly staff. With the current pandemic, all staff is wearing masks and they are separating people throughout the restaurant so that you are not sitting near anyone, and they sanitize each booth/table once they leave so that it is super clean! They also have hand sanitizer at the front, and bring you all condiments and silverware so that it is not sitting on the table and is clean as soon as you get it. It was super clean on the inside, and I was really impressed with all of the precautions that are taken to ensure the cleanliness. I ended up ordering the large seafood bowl, which was absolutely amazing, and only $8! All of their pho bowls range between $8-9 which is amazing for how large their portions are.
