For a Pho restaurant, they don't really have much of a selection. If you want oxtail or chicken pho, you'll have to to elsewhere. They have a huge menu consisting of rice plates, vermicelli, and other Vietnamese dishes. The broth for the beef pho is flavorful and delicious. It's one of the best places for pho in Santa Clara that I have been able to locate however, I wouldn't call this a pho restaurant. The parking lot is small and the location is remote. It looks like the unit they're located in is by a bunch of auto garages. I've ordered a thai iced tea with pearls here and they brew their own tea so it is tasty. I will keep coming back here if I'm already in Santa Clara, but there are many other pho restaurants in San Jose that are better. read more

This is my new go to place for Vietnamese food during lunch. It really is one of my favorite spots for a light simpler meal. I always order the Beef Stew with flat noodles and the flavor is delicious, the meat is actually soft compared to many other popular Vietnamese Pho joints in the area. I also get the Ngoi Cuon (?) spring rolls with peanut sauce and it's great for an appetizer. The vietnamese ice coffee is very good and I order it to-go and sip it throughout the afternoon to keep the sleepies away! I also like that this is a small family business. The service is pretty good, people are nice and the price is pretty right. :) read more

The food was great. My wife and I booth got the #1 Pho Van special. It had a lot of meat and the taste itself was fantastic. Great portion for the price. The meat was fresh and the noodles were great. The taste of the broth with all the veggies and herbs were spot on. We also got a side of chicken fried rice which was perfect. Everything was great except for the bona tea that my wife got. It tasted really fake and pure sugar. But the service was good with the gentleman that helped us. Totally awesome. I've driven by a lot, and always wondered why the hell a Pho restaurant is sitting in the middle of no where off the Bayshore Fwy. Ok I get it a lot of people might see it, but what about foot traffic? Ok the fun part starts when you go looking for the place. They have plenty of signage, so your not going to miss it. But skip the GPS and plan for some excitement! It's wedged in between an apartment complex and a Car garage. Oh its at the front of a converted garage. This is awesome already. I decided to bring my little family here, cause we love Pho. I say little family because there are only 5 of us as a party for a traditionally family style food. Pho!!! Ok so I love the bright decor, clean, and uncluttered. The staff / owners / family was amazing. My three girls loved being there, they felt like family. The pho was great, the meat was on the fattier side, with dense style meat balls, just an fyi. They also do Raw, Tripe, and a lot of other soups. Chinese fair, and Vietnamese rice plates too. How do I describe Pho Van ? It is the typical 'hole-in-the-wall','ma-n-pa' operation except, there're no holes in the wall anymore, all the holes in the drywalls have been completely patched and painted over, and ma and pa are only there on the weekdays. In fact, Pho Van occupies the first unit of an industrial building housing auto repair workshops, so parking can be a little tight on the weekdays. Inside, the place is neat and clean with a place for everything, the tables are stocked with all the necessities you'd find in any typical pho shop e.g. bottle of HUY FONG Sriracha, bottle of HOI SIN plum sauce, caddy of thin napkins, chopstick holder, soup spoons, and stack of small round saucers. The restaurant is located along the frontage road of HWY 101, in a very industrial part of Santa Clara, right next to a row of one bedroom apartments which may have been a 'seedy' motel a long, long time ago. If you get a thrill watching cars flying up and down HWY 101 at break-neck speeds, you may want to get a table by the front of the restaurant. I found the Pho broth to be a little too tasty for my liking. I cannot believe they charge $5 for iced Vietnamese coffee with condense milk and boba. I suspect most of the customers come from neighboring businesses on the weekdays. On the weekends, the place is most likely quiet & dead. You wouldn't impress a date here for sure. read more

Great meal after a game at Levi Stadium. Generous portions...small, medium and large bowls!! I ordered a standard bowl of chicken and some shrimp and a spring roll........a lot of food!!! Loved the peanut oil sauce for spring roll........and slices of jalapeño peppers to spice up their tastey broth!! Stopped in yesterday. Ordered the curry chicken wtih broccoli; curry sauce with peanuts. I asked the attendant, can you make with out peanuts; she said yes. In ten minutes, the food was brought out, the plating was nice and clean, the broccoli perfectly steamed and the rice was fluffy and slight sticky-good so far. I'm sorry Pho' Van, but the chicken, though the chicken was quality; it's colour was brown, like it was fried in well used frying oil and spiced with the 7 Spice bottle. Ugh. Man, do they know how to roast here!! Seriously the best roasted duck I've ever had. The skin is perfectly puffy (how do they do that??) crispy, salted to perfection, NOT dripping in oil, and just downright heaven in your mouth. Their dry noodles are just delicious. Mmmm goodness. Definitely come here for the dry noodles. I've tried their pho's and I personally prefer other places but it'll do if you need a quick fix. Customer service, imho, is dependent on who you get. I've only been served by two different guys and one is a real smart ass. During my first visit, I assumed he was just having a bad day but subsequent visits have concluded he has the personality of an angsty teenager. And um just FYI- teenagers at mall shops know how to provide better customer service than this. Once, everyone in the restaurant could hear the him in the back whining "I KNOWWWW. I ALREADY... I KNOWWWWW..." Just a tad awkward/uncomfortable. Another time, we had ordered a dry noodle soup and a separate entree. The guy came and brought the two bowls and placed them in front of us. My boyfriend asked, and I quote, "This one comes with a soup right?" The guy looks him in the face, shakes his two hands in the air and says, "I only have two hands" then walks off. Uh, wth? Am I talking to my bitchy teenage son? Oh wait, I don't have one. And oh wait, I'm actually at a restaurant. Talking to a guy (boy???) I'm paying a meal for. Seriously good food. It's a tiny little hole in the wall that I would have never found if it wasn't right next door to the dog kennel where my little furry guys go for over-night care. It has turned into one of my favorite restaurants because the service here is far better than most places I go to. The family who runs it really cares about their customers, and it shows. But it's not just the service that's good. The food is yummy too. They have an awesome grilled chicken dish, a great pork chop dish, and wonderful Mongolian Beef with steamed rice. Pho Van is in a totally random spot where you would never expect a restaurant and especially not a pho restaurant. They serve mostly a mix of Chinese and Vietnamese food and they also have random items like chicken wing/tenders. Our food came out fairly quickly but I guess if you compare this to normal pho time standards they take a bit longer. The food was good but not great and if you are in the area it is a good option. We went on a Friday evening and there were three other tables. I would imagine the lunch crowd is bigger with all the nearby businesses. read more

I found this spot recently a few weeks ago on Yelp, curious to see what Pho places there were hidden nearby my work. I saw many positive reviews about this place so I figured I would give it a shot. This place is delicious! It's tucked away adjacent to 101/Montague Expwy right off the freeway on Laurelwood Drive. I had went here at 10:30 and took an early lunch that day to avoid the crowd and because I was frankly just feeling under the weather. I arrived here to find it was a little family run restaurant, which is awesome, because the level of generosity and customer service was more than I can ask for! The younger guy (one of the sons?) took my order, prepared it himself and then brought it out to me. It was cool to have that whole experience and deal with just one person. But now to the good stuff: I had the Special Wonton Noodle soup and it was DELISH! The broth itself was tasty and on point, the wontons were perfectly cooked and fresh, and it even came with a side of pork in my soup as well! In the middle of an industrial area, found this place on Yelp. Ambience is very 90s chinese restaurant or maybe older than that. Food seems ok. Ordered #36 Pho with wontons, fried pork, prawns and beef balls. I could have done without the beef balls. The pork flavored the broth well. Had to let the noodles sit for a few minutes to cook enough. Prawns were good. Overall good value for $8.50. Considering slim pickings for pho in the area, I will probably be back. read more

Wow. This is amazing. The Pho is made from bone marrow cooked all day. it reflects in the rich flavor of the broth. No short cuts here, and no MSG. The BBQ Pork sandwich was also delicious.
