KV5 - Shrimp Summer Rolls
Elizabeth C.

Stopped in for a Saturday lunch while in the area. The food came out so fast and was fresh. The summer rolls had fresh and crisp veggies and a peanut butter sauce along with it. It was good but I was expecting a stronger shrimp flavor. I really enjoyed the rice vermacelli bowl. The grilled pork was very flavorful and the crispy egg rolls added texture. A fish sauce that came with it tied everything together. Overall, this is a solid and filling lunch choice!

Hard to find good Asian food near my school, so this spot was a lucky find! Tastes super legit, portions are big, and prices are perfect for a broke college student. Ambiance is classic Viet; simple and cozy. Service could be better, but I'm just here for the cheap, tasty food! For the broke college kids, I'd hit this up.

After a playing 2 hours of pickleball I was starving and the weather was cold and rainy. I needed some hot and yummy comfort food . Pho hits the spot! Pho Street is the only Vietnamese restaurant in the Ardmore / Bryn Mawr area now Nam Phong is closed. There is a small metered parking lot next to the restaurant. The parking lot fills up fast weekend evenings - on a rainy Sunday afternoon there were a few spots left for me to park. Walking into the restaurant- restaurant is quite large however , seating was limited to one section. The tables in the back area had boxes and restaurant supplies. I was cordially greeted and seated with a menu by the host at the front. Water was also severed right away. Menu had pictures which is helpful if you are not familiar with Vietnamese dishes. I ordered Pho with Brisket and flank steak and shrimp and pork summer rolls. The summer rolls were fresh and delicious with mint and chopped lettuce. Peanut sauce could have had more peanut taste but went well with the rolls. The pho broth was flavorful - green onions and fresh chopped cilantro added with pickled onions. Nice portion of meat and noodles. Noodles were chopped a bit ( I like them when they are not broken) the fresh basil and bean alright have the soup a nice crunch and flavor. I'd rate the Pho 4 out of 5 Overall delicious fresh. I will be back! Gave a 4 out of 5 - mainly for the food. Note: Ambience- the booths seat cushions were worn and the lighting was a bit dark. The back area looked like a storage closet. Place needs an overhall .

Good pho - if a bit salty. Beef flavor was pretty mild. Noodles were the right consistency. Grilled pork summer roll was good, fresh, but cost the same amount as if it had shrimp too (which I had to exclude due to a severe allergy). Should have cost the same as the shredded pork summer roll, instead. Overall, hit the spot.

Maybe there are some fantastic Vietnamese restaurants around Philly, but why is this my favorite spot for pho and summer rolls? I frequented pho street in college. It was close by, and it was perfect the day after a fun night. My go to order is: KV3, P01, and GK4. I don't think I could forget them if I tried. Sometimes I switch to a P03. KV3 (grilled pork and shrimp summer rolls) are amazing. Perfectly rolled, and the peanut sauce is top tier. Not sure how every other one I've has never been this good. P01 - a classic beef pho. Soup is perfectly spiced. Noodles can be a bit more consistent with texture sometimes, though. Meatballs are only ok. GK4 - Vietnamese iced coffee - energy in a cup. 10/10. Cups got bigger too recently. Service is standard - not too much to complain about here.

The tofu bahn mi are the best ever. There are closer shops to me, but Pho Street is worth the extra drive.

Great banh mi sandwiches and pho. I've only had takeout from Pho Street but it's always been spot on and would be happy to eat in sometime.

Food is always delicious. Ambiance is a little dated however I went for the food not the atmosphere. Service is fast and servers are polite.

Love the pho, the service, and the cold water. Like the location just a few blocks from the Bryn Mawr Film Institute.

Not sure why they have such low stars I mean this is authentic Pho at fair prices with huge portions! They don't skimp on the meats and veggies for that beautifully fragrant and tasty broth. I got the brisket pho and the meat was tender and again they are generous. Lots of veggies for you to dress up the pho how you like it. Their spring rolls are great! This placed gave me life! So much so that I went the next day and got the brisket pho again and the summer rolls. The rolls were huge and the peanut sauce thick and tasty. This place needs more stars.

I was craving for Vietnamese (and no where near South Philly) so we decided to stop by at Hanoi's Pho. I remember going here long time ago when it was a different Vietnamese restaurant. Upon entering I realized that the lighting was a bit dim, and tables and chairs looked outdated. There were enough customers so we decided to stay. The service was pretty good, just two younger men manning the front. My daughter ordered pho and she said it was pretty good; I ordered house vermicelli, and it was just okay (I had it better elsewhere); and my husband ordered some type of a clay pot pork belly and shrimp dish. He said it was a bit salty and wished they had added some vegetables. Overall, it was just an okay experience.

I'm giving it four stars because I will return for very specific things, it really is more of a 3…read moreto 3 1/2 star. Very inconsistent. The upside is that it was inexpensive, which is what drew me there in the first place. My very first time eating there in March 2026. I'll start with the good: the Hong Kong wonton soup, the egg drop soup, & the beef chow fun. I would return for these items. The bad: the duck rolls, the shrimp with lobster sauce. The duck rolls, I took one bite, and that was enough. The duck was dry, it didn't have good flavor, I'm not sure if it was particularly fresh. It tasted like it could be the duck that's about to be shrink. The shrimp in lobster sauce was the worst I've ever had. Absolutely no taste. I do not use condiments and I had to put soy sauce in it. I have hypertension, I do not use soy sauce! I had to use it to choke it down. That was the most expensive dish and almost $17 so no way that was being wasted. And there was barely any shrimp in it. The ugly: The egg roll & crispy fried noodles. The oil must be very old. The egg roll was so dark and soft with oil that the oil was dripping off of it and filling the little wax paper bag. The noodles were also too dark and tasted gross like being fried and old oil. I would never get anything fried from this place ever.

Since local Chinese-American take-outs range from 'okay' to nothing more than…read more'a-little-better-than-okay,' I thought we'd try ordering instead from a restaurant. Though we hadn't been there in years, Golden Bowl came to mind. Consensus: we spent a bit more than we usually do, but the food was a couple of notches better. As a point of comparison, we ordered our usual soups: hot & sour and egg-drop wonton. Hot & sour was thick and spicy. (To temper the heat, I cut my serving with spoonfuls of egg-drop.) Wontons were nicely filled and less doughy than our usual take-outs. Two thumbs up for the soup. Mongolian Beef is my husband's favorite. We both agreed that Golden Bowl's version is pretty good. Our other dish, Sizzling Triple Delight, is best eaten in the restaurant. Nothing was sizzling, but the components -- beef, chicken, shrimp and vegetables -- were well prepared. Broccoli was al dente and the brown sauce was rich and flavorful. All-in-all, branching out paid off. We'll most assuredly do it again.
