S3. Pan Fried Chive & Pork Dumplings
    Deforio B.

Nestled in the small suburb of Ardmore, Pa is a lovely eatery serving up some hot and spicy Chinese cuisine featuring authentic Chongqing noodles. The restaurant was very nice, clean, with wooden tables and decorative ceilings and mirrors. The servers were patient and took time to answer all questions I had about the types of noodles and some of the best dishes that they serve. I started with the scallion pancakes. I've had better at the Chinese corner store. They were a bit greasy, but I was ok with that. 3/5 Next, I had the fried wings with garlic hot sauce. These were fresh out of the grease hot. They were fried hard and had a great crunch. They were also spicy and juicy, but they lacked the flavor I was hoping for. 3/5 Next up were the pan fried chive and pork dumplings. Always good, always juicy, and always hot. 5/5 The best dish was the Noodles & Chickpea with minced pork soup. It was delicious. All of the spices blended so well together. The Bok choy didn't over power the broth and there were just the right amount chick peas. It was a flavorful explosion of well put together ingredients. 5/5 Don't drive too fast on Lancaster Ave, or you just might pass it. Slow down, and give them a try. TIL we eat again...

This chain is the first in Pennsylvania. Lots of stores down around Virginia. Ambiance is great. Service was fast. We got the cucumber salad - flavors were ok, a bit mild. Pork soup dumplings are are great and we definitely recommend getting those. I got N4 - the sichuan beef noodles. Go to man space for me and definitely had a lot of great flavor in the broth one of the best items there that they had. We also got N12 the seafood noodle soup, but it was a bit too bland and wouldn't order that again. Chicken wings were great really crispy and flavorful, very garlicky too if you like that. Also got the R3 which was beef with rice and egg and minced pork. It came with some yellow orange sauce, which was a bit sweet. Not sure if I would get it again.

An average meal with notable areas of improvement. The restaurant is on Lancaster Ave. The space is modern and fresh. Service started strong, but left us there. The server took our order, dropped the food, but was nowhere to be found throughout the entity of the meal. I tried to grab his attention. He could only manage one table at a time (and it is a rather small space). He didn't come over to see if we needed anything, or to inquire how the meal was. And for us, there were some hits, and some misses. The soup dumplings were tasty and had a nice amount of soup. We tried both the regular pork, and spicy pork. I ordered a cucumber salad that was soaking in oil (that had no flavor) and doused in chili oil. The side had no real seasoning other than the crisp. The toppings (peanut, garnish) were bland. They had a generous buy one get one hot/cold noodle dish so we capitalized on that. The beef soup was very tasty, the beef was pretty fatty however. We also ordered a dry noodle dish with minced pork. There was way too much MSG in this. And before the MSG police come for me, I am not saying it shouldn't have been added. There was just way too much and it completely overpowered the dish. We didnt eat it for this reason. I politely told the server when he came over at the end of the meal to clear plates that I just wanted to provide some friendly feedback. I advised of the heavy MSG, and he just looked at me. After a few seconds of major awkwardness and no reaction, he gave a weird insincere "sorry" and that was it. Worth trying for dimsum. The pulled noodles are great, but there are major areas of improvement for service.

Managed to order their promotional set that came with a dim sum, main and drink. Soup and the diversity of flavors was great. Also, loved the aesthetics of the place.

Yummy food, very nice interior, decently friendly/quick service. It's not very big inside so you might have to wait! We went at 5pm on a Friday and it wasn't too busy but it got packed immediately after, so plan accordingly! It's great to see another new authentic Chinese restaurant in town, especially a reasonably priced one. My husband and I ordered a variety of noodles, dumplings, and appetizers. Everything was well seasoned, though the Yibin Dry Noodles were a tad too salty (we loved the spiciness though). I've never had the cucumber with garlic sauce before, but it was a nice change from the usual spicy cucumber salad at Chinese restaurants. I really enjoyed my beef with rice noodles in golden soup, and the soup dumplings were pretty good! I would definitely come back to try more.

A great find while my wife and I were visiting from California and wanting noodles. The noodle and chick pea and minced pork soup should be a signature dish for this noodle house. Very colorful and welcoming setting, and good service too.

My partner and I came here two times because they were running a buy one get one dish special. I want to like this place so badly because we desperately need a nicer Chinese restaurant in the area to rival Dan Dan. However, I felt like this restaurant was so cookie cutter and lacking "soul" in the food. I hope that makes sense. The spicy dishes were uniquely spicy. The restaurant feels clean, and the service was attentive. I just don't see myself coming back here unfortunately. We tried 4 different dishes in total, but I can't really recommend any of them. Not my cup of tea.

Great service and amazing food! Came here for their buy one get one noodles/rice dish. Would definitely come here again. Cute interior decorations as well.

Buns - good but likely wouldn't order again.

The food was great ! The broth was flavorful and the spices were spot on. I would reorder the wings, soup dumplings, and the beef noodle and broth. I would not order the rice, chicken, kimchi dish or the buns again. Overall I am excited to come back again !

The upside is that it was inexpensive, which is what drew me there in the first place. My very first time eating there in March 2026. I'll start with the good: the Hong Kong wonton soup, the egg drop soup, & the beef chow fun. I would return for these items. The bad: the duck rolls, the shrimp with lobster sauce. The duck rolls, I took one bite, and that was enough. The duck was dry, it didn't have good flavor, I'm not sure if it was particularly fresh. It tasted like it could be the duck that's about to be shrink. The shrimp in lobster sauce was the worst I've ever had. Absolutely no taste. I do not use condiments and I had to put soy sauce in it. I have hypertension, I do not use soy sauce! I had to use it to choke it down. That was the most expensive dish and almost $17 so no way that was being wasted. And there was barely any shrimp in it. The ugly: The egg roll & crispy fried noodles. The oil must be very old. The egg roll was so dark and soft with oil that the oil was dripping off of it and filling the little wax paper bag. The noodles were also too dark and tasted gross like being fried and old oil. I would never get anything fried from this place ever.

Though we hadn't been there in years, Golden Bowl came to mind. Consensus: we spent a bit more than we usually do, but the food was a couple of notches better. As a point of comparison, we ordered our usual soups: hot & sour and egg-drop wonton. Hot & sour was thick and spicy. (To temper the heat, I cut my serving with spoonfuls of egg-drop.) Wontons were nicely filled and less doughy than our usual take-outs. Two thumbs up for the soup. Mongolian Beef is my husband's favorite. We both agreed that Golden Bowl's version is pretty good. Our other dish, Sizzling Triple Delight, is best eaten in the restaurant. Nothing was sizzling, but the components -- beef, chicken, shrimp and vegetables -- were well prepared. Broccoli was al dente and the brown sauce was rich and flavorful. All-in-all, branching out paid off. We'll most assuredly do it again.

While were there, many Chinese-speaking people came in to eat and order out, which is always a good sign. It is a no frills, non-fancy place to eat (kiosk ordering, self serve plastic utensils). We focused mostly on the noodle dishes for this trip, and want to go back to try their other dishes (many which seem to be more geared toward the American palate, e.g, General Tsao's chicken). Deep fried dough sticks (you tiao) - 5*/5, I love these and have not found dim sum places in Chinatown that serve the light, easy to tear apart version of this anywhere and Sang Kee Asian Bistro does not offer this on their otherwise wonder dim sum menu. I am SO happy to find this and will be back again and again just for these. Along with some hot, sweetened soy milk to dip them in, this will be my special treat/snack go to item at Taste of Chang'an. Hooray! Pork & Chives dumplings - 5/5, these are very good dumplings and although I like the filling I make better, I am unwilling to make my own wrappers so I can imagine ordering these for takeout in the future as an appetizer for a party. Hot & Sour soup - 4/5, good overall but could use more hot and more sour. I appreciated how the broth was actually not broth and not as gummy as some hot and sour soups can be. Changan Biangbiang Noodles - 4/5, I appreciated the hand pulled noodles but found the ratio of pork belly pieces to the amount of noodles to be too low so after eating my way half through the bowl I had only noodles left. Flavors are good, but the next day I did not want to eat my leftovers which is a sign. Pork Ribs Noodles - 4/5, my son had this and he and I agreed the pork ribs were more flavorful than the pork belly pieces in my noodles. He also had many leftover noodles with no more meat, and did not want to eat the leftovers. Sauteed Spicy Chicken Noodle - 4/5, my husband had this and it looked more like a chicken/green pepper dish on a bed of noodles. Leftovers had a good ratio of all items in the dish and I did eat these the next day for lunch. When I go back, I'd like to try their zha jiang noodles, pork buns, scallion pancakes, and their other dishes. And I am so happy to have found somewhere on the Main Line where I can pick up fresh, hot you tiao!

I got a classic pork XLB, fried pork chop, and bok choy w/garlic sauce. I also ordered 2 orders of XLB to go for someone who ate somewhere else but still wanted some soup dumplings. The food came out quickly, and I like how I was given a pair of tongs to safely open and close the steamer basket lid. This was great, so I could keep the lid on between bites. I was a bit wary when I saw the dumplings, as they appeared to have a really tall pleated section of wrapper. I thought it might be too doughy. Thankfully, the wrapper skins were thin, and it wasn't too much wrapper to filling ratio. The dumplings were filled with lots of broth, which hit the spot on that cold night. The porkchops were flavorful and nice and tender, and those sauteed green leafy vegetables satisfied my craving. They did a great job with my to-go order, too. The soup dumplings & their accessories were packed up in an insulated bag--nice touch! What a great surprise to find Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings at the mall.
