Vegetarian Pho Noodles
Niss A.

Very Cute little Restaurant on 72nd Street. They decorated the restaurant with straw hat on the wall. Staff extremely nice and organized. We walked in to this little Pho Shop as only clients. With in 20mins the place filled up. Food was delicious! Portion was hefty to me. We started with the Crispy Shrimp spring rolls. Cooked to perfection. Crispy and Hot. Dipping sauce was on point. Then ordered the Vegetarian Pho. Enough for 2 people. Very tasty and flavorful. Grilled Pork Chop is a staple at any Vietnamese restaurant. Not dry. Seasoned very well and had to pack half to go home. Since we were so full. We ordered a Banh Flan to go. It was smooth and sweet. Can't wait to go back to try BanhMi If you are in the area it's a Must go. It's Authentic.

Vegetarian Broth Pho

Came here because I was specifically looking for vegetarian/vegan pho, and they had one on their menu. The broth was flavorful and it came with so many large pieces of many different vegetables, a number of pieces of soy "meat", and lots of noodles. I also asked for extra tofu since I needed some extra protein that day, so that was an additional $3 (very worth it). I tried very hard to finish my whole bowl, but it defeated me. I didn't need a lot of help looking at the menu but the servers seem to be friendly and helpful if you do have questions. They checked on me a couple times while I was eating to see if I needed anything. (My other go-to dish at Vietnamese restaurants is the vermicelli noodle plate, and it looks like they had a vegetable & tofu option for them, so I could get that next time. I appreciate that they have a good number of vegetarian options.) I came on a Sunday evening and it was about half full, and they seemed to have a lot of take-out orders as well. The dining area had a good number of tables, and it was dim and cozy, but not too dark. Good for solo dining or a quiet night out with a small group.

This is one of my favorite places on the uws! The broth is flavorful, portions plentiful, and I'm telling you the grilled pork chop is one of the best pieces of meat I have anywhere. I have no idea the sauce or what but it hits every time. Go here on a cold day like today it will warm you right up!

Pretty spacious place that wasn't super packed around lunch time so we were able to get seated. However, because of that I was expected much better service but we had to flag down our server multiple times and it maybe took us 15 minutes from being seated until someone came and asked for our order. Pho is pretty bland and not super flavorful, the iced Vietnamese coffee was pretty good though. My friends had vermicelli and said those were good but overall not sure if this compares with other shops in lower/central Manhattan.

Pretty good pho at a reasonable price (pho tai- beef eye round is $16). Two pho shop summer rolls (with charbroiled pork and shrimp) were $10. Restaurant is spacious and service is fast.

Pork bahn mi

We had a lovely lunch here after a work out. We got the pork bahn mi and the papaya salad. The pork was so juicy and the bread was nice and crusty. The papaya salad was refreshing and was a generous portion. We got the shrimp on top of the papaya salad which complemented the salad perfectly. The restaurant had a cozy vibe and we enjoyed our time here a lot

Decent casual Vietnamese restaurant specializing in pho but offering some other classics as well. I ordered the Vermicelli with grilled chicken and spring rolls ($17) - it was good but still fairly average as a whole. The chicken was slightly burned at parts but generally pretty tender. The noodles were very ordinary. The spring rolls were okay but slightly mushy on the inside. On the bright side, the portion size was very large, so that made the bowl a good value for the price. I tried the Pho Shop pho ($17) as well, which was a fairly average bowl of pho with beef brisket and meatballs. It was a decently sized bowl though. The staff are pretty friendly and the service speed is fast. The place has some nice chill vibes with a clean environment. There was ample seating available when we went on a Sunday night. Overall, if you happen to be on the UWS looking for a convenient casual Vietnamese place that gets the job done, then Pho Shop could be a good option for you.

Beef pho with eye round

The meal started with complimentary shrimp chips and dip! The beef pho with eye round was good- Came in a big bowl. Saw a neighbor with a even more giant bowl - so XXL is available if you want it. The pork chop bahn mi sandwich was also good. Even though the bread was toasted, Thankfully, it did not scratch the roof of my mouth. Food came out fast.

The food always arrives hot, is always well packaged and tasty. My personal go to is the SHAKING BEEF Bo Luc Lac Stir fried Angus steak cube) bun. It is served Served w. Side Salad & Nuoc Cham: (Romaine, Cucumber, Pickled Mustard, Grape Tomatoes, Carrots & Daikon). I appreciate the choice of Vermicelli rice noodle, Thai Jasmine rice or Solely Salad. I always choose rice and the packaging is amazing, the beef is kept seperate from the rice and arrives hot and aromatic. My mom also loves this dish but ordered it with the solely salad and opts for double veggies. We have also tried several of the bahn mini including the lemongrass chicken, the brisket and the braised short rib. All are tasty. I do recommend adding the dip for $1 as it really takes it to the next level! I ordered the lychee iced tea sweetened today. It was sweet but not too sweet which I appreciated and as with everything from 5ive spice very thoughtfully packaged in a way that there is no leaking in transit. 5ive spice has some great all day and happy hour specials, I look forward to trying their food in person when I am in the area. Customer service: One time, on a particularly busy weekend in NYC, I received the wrong bahn mi sandwich. I ordered the brisket bahn mi and received the lemongrass chicken. When I called 5ive Spice, I spoke to the manager John who was incredibly apologetic and explained it was a very busy night, without offering excuses. He offered a full refund and invited me to order again and call and he would include a complimentary bahn mi. For what it's worth, it was a very busy night in NYC, all of the restaurants we were trying to get take out or delivery from were quoting 2+ hours, and John handled the situation perfectly. The food we received was tasty and did arrive on time.

I got the pho ($21.78), which is steep for pho, but I guess that's Midtown prices for you. The wait was a slog--over 20 minutes for a bowl of pho, which other Yelp reviews warned about. When it finally arrived, the soup lacked that authentic pho aroma, which was a letdown. On the plus side, the beef was fresh, and the reusable to-go bag was a nice touch. Decent, but the wait and price make it hard to love. Might try again if they speed things up.

After waiting 30 minutes, for what is literally the simplest item on the menu, the bowl is brought out and it's a bowl of broth with a couple slices of chicken. No noodles. When I inquired, the server told me it's because I ordered the Plain Pho... yea and I said it comes with noodles and broth. They told me they could get me noodles, but acted like they were doing me a favor by fetching noodles for me, which was quite offputting because the noodles were quite literally half of the dish I actually ordered. How does one wait half-an-hour at a very casual fast Vietnamese food place, for premade soup and noodles, and still have the order wrong? In the end, I did get my noodles and broth, but the fact that I had to spend this much time and also justify my request for noodles (which are part of the dish) is quite insane. I put this at 2 stars for now, because I enjoyed my first time. Hopefully the service will improve.
