PHO-NOMENAL! Pho Saigon in Hackensack is one of my go-to spots for authentic, affordable, and delicious Vietnamese cuisine. It's located downtown on Main Street with metered street parking around the area. It's no surprise that they're always busy during peak lunch and dinner hours. Many customers dine in and order take-out. The restaurant is small, but cozy. Seating is limited, so there may be a bit of a wait, especially if you're dining with a larger group. It's a no-frills, casual atmosphere where you can enjoy a tasty meal. The menu isn't extensive, but they offer allllll of the good stuff - summer rolls, pho, rice platters, noodles, fried rice, banh mi sandwiches. They have reasonable prices that are a good value for the portion sizes! I've dined in a couple of times and service is always quick and attentive. Here are my favorite items to order: *Beef Combo Pho $16.45 (includes rich beef stock, rice noodles, anise, charcoaled ginger, herbs, spices, beef & brisket, beef balls, beef tendon, tripe, white onion, cilantro, scallions, bean sprouts, basil, jalapeno peppers, lime) - I always feel revived after having their pho. The various beef cuts were all tender and offered a range of different textures and flavors. The broth was the heart of the pho. It was aromatic, warm, and rich. It was heavily spiced with cinnamon, cardamom, star anise, and coriander, which enhanced the beefy flavor. The noodles were smooth, slightly chewy, and absorbed the flavors of the broth well. The chili and hoisin sauces added some extra heat and sweetness. The garnishes added a nice crunch with every bite. *Spicy Lemongrass Soup $15.45 (includes beef & brisket, beef balls, lemongrass broth, chili oil, Asian spices, bean sprouts, jalapeno, and basil) - This hits the spot on a cold day or when you're sick! They did not skimp out on the beef and it was juicy and flavorful. The broth was a fiery orange-red color with the perfect blend of citrusy and spicy flavors. I have a decent spice tolerance and this cleared my sinuses lol. *Crispy Spring Rolls $9.95 (minced pork, mixed vegetables, lettuce greens, mint, nuoc cham sauce) - Such a good appetizer to start off your meal! The rolls are hot, crispy, and generously filled with seasoned pork. Don't miss out on this spot if you're craving pho! I would LOVE to try their banh mi and rice platters in the future!

I wish there was a way to do 3 1/2 stars because that's exactly what the place was. It's packed and the service was nice in the sense they gave us the appetizers before the main courses of soup, but the waitress couldn't care less we were there. She didn't even come by once to see if we needed napkins or anything. The spring rolls and summer rolls were good. The pho was OK. It was not the best I ever had or the worst, it did the job. They were a little chincy on the meat. If I lived over there, I guess it would be my go to spot but Not living there, I would never go out of my way to go to this place if I was looking for a nice bowl of pho. Is there anything as comforting on a cold night as slurping thin rice noodles from a rich, deep, stewed-for-hours broth? Others might disagree, but it was what my taste buds were screaming for on a recent blustering cold night. My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant, and the short version of this review is that we not only satisfied my cravings, but I think we've found our favorite Vietnamese spot in the area. I was bemused by the way they display comically oversized versions of their menu at every table. What I initially considered to be somewhat gimmicky turned out to be quite convenient since everyone at the table was simultaneously viewing the same menu while discussing ordering options. I love how quickly the food gets to your table at Vietnamese restaurants, and Pho Saigon is no exception. Our crispy spring rolls arrived mere minutes after ordering, and they were everything I'd want from a good fried appetizer - meaty, flavorful, and hot enough to do some of those open-mouthed dragon breaths after your first bite. My beef pho was also fantastic, with the broth perfectly redolent of all the spices that imparted their flavors. But I was most impressed with my husband's chicken vermicelli bowl. The meat was beautifully seasoned and, once mixed with the supplied sauce, made for a light and refreshing meal. It'll definitely be my next order when I'm here (and, if it weren't already clear enough, I'm most certainly going be back for more). Service is polite and blazingly efficient. If you're in the area and cursed with the craving for solid Vietnamese food, don't miss this restaurant.

Lovely spot! Food tasted fresh and light, nothing greasy. Served/hostess was friendly and polite. Highly recommend if you're in the area for something simple, warm, and healthy. Chicken satay skewers were grilled to perfection. :) Will definitely come back when I'm in the area!

Pho Saigon, we have gone here a few times over the years. Whether it's calling for take out or sit down, the food is not to disappoint. My go to is the Vegetable and Tofu Pho. There is a good amount of vegetables, tofu and pho in the big bowl. I'm not a fan of ground pepper. However in this dish, I don't mind it and it's in the overall soup. If you eat at Pho Saigon, you will get the beansprouts, basil, jalapeño in the dish that goes with your pho. We also have had Summer rolls previously before too (not pictured). Also a good appetizer too. Friendly service, all payments accepted, Parking is available around town using the meters.

Pho Saigon is a treat in this area that used to be not so safe. Each of the dishes that we tried - pho, noodles, and meat/rice, were all delightful. The only downside of this palace is that it's so small that you may need to be waiting on a table -- often on top of another table. It leads to a bit of discomfort or rushing but then again, it's a small price to pay for the space. Additionally, the prices are super reasonable and I think it's an excellent dining option that brings authentic cuisine to the area.

Stopped in here for lunch today, there was already a line at the door by the time they opened, definitely a hotspot for folks to visit and eat. It was full even as we were seated early. At the tables you have giant menus on boards so they don't have to hand out paper or menus to you, they are a bit slow in the service though. I've worked at a restaurant as small and been much more efficient with less people working the front. As for the food, the spring rolls are quite good, crunchy and four to an order so a bit small but they do come with lettuce and cucumbers and pickled carrots and daikon. The Summer rolls are a bit heavy on the rice noodle and veggies, they didn't have too much shrimp so we skipped it after seeing the table next to us get their order. The beef combo was good sized, plenty of noodles and a mix of beef brisket, meatballs, tendon, and tripe. A little bit of pepper on top, the broth was not bad but I've had better at Nam Son. We did like the hot sauce on the table, and they brought out bean sprouts and lime and basil leaves and a little bit of jalapenos sliced up. They didn't bring enough bean sprouts, we had seven bowls of pho and only two small plates of bean sprouts, by the time they brought out a third the broth was already too cold to cook the bean sprouts all the way through so a bit of a waste. Overall, I've definitely had better but it's a good enough stop for a hot soup on a cold day, and definitely popular as people were still waiting even as we finished up. They do add tip already to the bill, so don't be like us and accidentally check a box for additional gratuity unless you intend so. Also, I feel like the water tasted a bit off, like coming from a coffee container with a bit of that aftertaste. Definitely drank a lot of water, feel like there might have been some MSG in the broth.

Spicy lemon grass soup is great! Service is as well. They are very friendly and quick to refill your water and ask if you need anything else. Seating is plentiful and the bathrooms are clean.

Need to find this hot sauce in stores! It's spicier than sriracha

I think I may have found my go-to Vietnamese spot. It tastes good and is a great value. I'm usually weary of Vietnamese places that also serve Pad Thai, but Pho Kitchen was really good. Our party of four came in at around 1 on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. There was a ten minute wait but they had a lot of tables, so it was quick. To start, we ordered crispy spring rolls and veggie spring rolls. The crispy spring rolls were great - they use rice paper which I love. I didn't try the veggie ones but I noticed they use regular frozen spring roll wrappers for those. For my entree, I had the vermicelli bowl with three proteins - pork, chicken, and beef. I love how thinly sliced the proteins were. It looks like it would be dry but it was very tender. Can't wait to come back on a colder day to try some of their pho! Will have to try their banh mis as well.

Let me preface the review by first saying I've been a fan of this Resturant for months. I've gone out of my way to purchase food from here. But it's funny how one terrible experience makes the taste turn sour real bad. Their pho is good. Not too oily. I've noticed they don't add in much meat (beef, in my case) in the broth anymore. Times are tough everywhere, so I can understand that much. What I don't appreciate, or accept, is the horrific customer service. Customer service is as vital as the quality of food for any Resturant. Today's phone was answered by a young man. Apparently there was some form of miscommunication when it came to how many summer rolls I wanted (I wanted 4 rolls, I stressed the number.) He took it as 4 orders (so 8 rolls.) When I went to pick up my food and mentioned i only wanted 4 summer rolls and not 8, he immediately got nasty, exaggerated eye rolls, and even dropped my bag of food with a temper like some child. (And after all that, he only packed me two spring rolls.) So of course, I called back. And he had the audacity to say that's what I ordered (2 rolls.) ...excuse me? Again, absolutely bizarre. I never expected such rudeness but I guess I shouldn't be surprised. The Resturant owner needs to either properly train that boy or expect lose even more patrons with that ugly attitude. My friends and I aren't ever going back. read more

The menu is not big, but all of the choices are very good. Great noodle dishes, varieties of fried rice, ban mi, and of course, phô. Aside from the food, service has always been quick and the staff are extremely pleasant. Hey, parking is usually easy, too. read more

Went here with friends after hanging out at the park. Service was quick and seated all 6 of us. The summer rolls came out fast and tasted very boring. The peanut sauce helped add much needed flavor from what was lacking. I went with the vermicelli combo of the spring roll, chicken, and beef. Definitely not enough meat on this bowl for what was charged. The majority of it consisted of the noodles that taste bland and veggies. The sauce I liked which was the only way it made my meal somewhat enjoyable. After soaking everything with the sauce we all finished and moved on with our days. This place is not the best Vietnamese place I've been to and I don't plan on coming back. Hope this review helps. read more

Never had the pleasure to dine in, but it's a nice little spot that typically has parking available right out front. In the heart of Hackensack and easy to reach. I highly recommend the Banh Mi with grilled pork, grilled pork fried rice and the pho. This is my go to spot for takeout lately, as it's always quick, delicious and plentiful. Don't sleep on the spring rolls either! Oh. And the corn pudding? Sounds weird, but it's incredible. Staff is always super accommodating and friendly, quick to rectify any issues and really makes you feel good about being there. read more

Great spot that we found thanks to Yelp. I was craving summer rolls and decided to try this place out. We ordered summer rolls, dumplings, curry noodle and pho. Was very impressed with the dumplings! It was so different but refreshing and delicious. The summer rolls were soft and okay. My husband loved the curry noodles! It was a mix between Singapore Mei fun and soy stirfry. I thought my pho was underwhelming. The broth was just ok and the meat portion was small. Overall I would come back but order something next time. read more

Got takeout from here and was happy with the quality of the food. I ordered a beef combo pho, a stir-fry curry noodles, and a vermicelli noodle salad combo w/ spring rolls, shrimp, and pork. All three were really good. The pho broth was fantastic and the beef was thinly cut but not overcooked, which is exactly the way I like it. The curry noodles had great flavor and heat. The vermicelli noodle salad was light and delicious. Will certainly order from here again. read more

If you're not expecting genuine, authentic Vietnamese then Pho Saigon is perfect for you when you get a craving for a pho. The menu and food are same as Saigon Kitchen in Fort Lee since they are the same owners. I'm just happy that there's a Vietnamese option in Hackensack finally. I got the combo pho and there was plenty of tripe and cartilage. It was pretty good and came with the usual toppings. I couldn't finish all the meat. My sis got the grilled beef rice platter and she was happy with it and said the meat was tender. The price is reasonable too. The interior looks pretty much same as how Wondees had it. The service was prompt and the food came out pretty quickly too. read more

I absolutely love the shaken cube steak here and the ladies here are amazing and pleasant! However, tonight I ordered once again (I order almost weekly mind you!) and thanks to the male worker (maybe manager?) not acknowledging me, not greeting anyone, just looking frazzled and annoyed at the counter as the crowd piles in for their pick up - I'm know forced to leave a negative review. Him not greeting me or acknowledging me wasn't an issue at first bec it's Thanksgiving eve so I get it! It wasnt until I tried to say hello and ask him for an eta- completely ignored AND he walked away (I know for a fact he heard me), to then return and answer the questions of 2 men who came in after me and giving them their orders- still never even acknowledged even though I was the closest one to him - still ignored! Then as usual one of the pleasant ladies helped me. He needs a day off or training on manners! Or keep him in the back before you lose customers. read more

I was craving Pho all last week and finally found a small restaurant near me. The place is small but service was great. The food were not too bad. Not recommendable place Not enough portions !! Summer rolls fall apart Does not like giving you sauces ... haha Why !?!? They give you this small thing of sauce and they think its enough !!! Lol Are you making that much if you dont give out sauces haha ... well the food was okay pho is a pho Would I go back ? Not really ! Because you dont take care of customers and the summer roll fell apart !! Who does that !!! Or should I ask who makes that !!! You get a one for lack of service but you should really figure out how to make a summer roll... haha over priced pho read more

First time here . Was craving some good pho . We ordered beef satay , crispy spring roll . Beef and brisket pho , and banh Mi . My husband and I shared everything . The place was super busy with takeout orders . But it really didn't effect the service at all, our food came out on time . And the employees were great and very accommodating and kind . The food was super good spring rolls were nice a crunchy mmmm. And pho was tasty broth was good . Very happy to have found a great Vietnamese place close by. The place has a decent amount of tables, it was super clean and Covid precautions were in place. We read the Yelp reviews on this place before we came in and I really think that the negative ones really had no right to complain the way they did about this place . So I really wanted to come on here and write a great much deserved positive review! We can't wait to visit again . Thai tea was also delicious my husband had two ! Came here on a busy night, was sat down and waited a little bit. Ordered bubble tea, crispy spring rolls, lemongrass satay beef skewers, and a reg beef pho Food:// Bubble tea: classic, general Spring rolls: pretty good flavoring Pho: the beef broth was not as fatty as other beef broths, but noodles came in a little clumped, so it didn't not well with the noodles. But the flavor of the beef broth was good. Lemon grass satay skewers: was not expecting the portion size to be small. It only came with two skewers on a plate of veggies. read more

Oh Pho Saigon - all those reviews, all those images, I though I found something here, but sadly I didn't. Maybe it was my fault that I purchased on a holiday. I'm sorry if it was, maybe it was an off day, maybe it was your driver (at least for some of the fault) but let's begin... Ordered some Pad Thai with chicken. Let me tell you the chicken was cooked until there was no moister left in the poor things. And then I'm guessing cooked for an extra 10 minutes for good measure? People, trust and believe when I say the chicken was as thin, as a very small piece of cardboard, and tasted just the same. The actual Pad Thai tasted alright (minus some sus flavors), but for $12.00, that price ain't right. Now, I ordered on GH - so prices may have been inflated, but so were the images? I ordered some spring rolls and the images showed 1 -2 -3 -4 -5! 5 spring rolls. I only got 4. Now, they were alright, but for $7.99, alright just don't cut it. Not sure if they were premade or made at the establishment, but they tasted... familiar... if you know what I'm sayin. Maybe update those images to reflect, the actual product you get. But the worst thing was, no ring of the bell, no text, "hey your food is here." Not even the common courtesy to put the food by my door. Instead, left on the side of the step where anyone in the apartment building could get it. Now come on Pho Saigon, if you have delivery, you gotta let me know when it's actually delivered. I'm probably going to stay away from this one. The crispy overly cooked chicken, the false advertising of their images, and just not letting me know the food was here... that's three strikes, and three strikes, means yo-out! Our first Vietnamese place we ordered from since we moved to Jersey City, even though we thought it was far and the food might get cold by the time it got here, it wasn't that bad at all. Secondly, the food made up for the distance for sure! We are very picky with asian food and this hit it right at the spot! We ordered: 1. Shrimp Pad Thai - The only issue here was there were 5 pieces of small shrimp in the entire order. That is what brought one star down. 2. Chicken Bahn Mi - Delicious 3. Beef Bahn Mi - Delicious 4. Pho - the spices kick in a bit once the jalepenoes are dropped in. It is delicious 5. Summer roll - delicious with the peanut sauce 6. Thai Iced tea - classic favorite We would like to order again but maybe request for more shrimp in the pad thai? Overall a good experience! read more

Pho Saigon opened last month in the space once occupied by Wondee's Fine Thai Food & Noodles, which was sold when the original owners retired in 2015, and then hung on for a few years under a new owner. The walls, floors, drop ceiling and other parts of the restaurant have been thoroughly cleaned, repainted or replaced, but there's no mistaking the old Wondee's dining room. We ordered Crispy Veggie Spring Rolls to share ($7); Beef Pho ($9), the anise-scented Vietnamese soup; Seafood Noodle Soup ($12), and a bottle of Perrier ($3) after the server told us there was no bottled water. I liked the food, especially the green Romaine lettuce served for wrapping the hot spring rolls with shredded cucumber; and the big shrimp in the seafood soup, which also had some squid, scallops and fish balls, and lots of thin noodles. My wife liked her pho, but still feels the best version is served at Simply Vietnamese in Tenafly. Also, she felt the one big air conditioner in the front wasn't able to keep the Pho Saigon dining room as cool as she would have liked. The young Vietnamese woman who took our order at Pho Saigon, relayed to the kitchen electronically, said the restaurant opened in the beginning of May. We welcome Pho Saigon because we live in Hackensack, and it's the first Vietnamese restaurant to open here. There is a parking lot behind the building, but the rear entrance to the restaurant is locked, requiring a long walk around the building to the front entrance. Metered parking is on the street. Ordered Shrimp Pad Thai, the 6 shrimp were overcooked which made them tough, and although I asked for extra eggs, ($2) but, I couldn't tell if I received it as their eggs are micro minced. (See if you can spot a piece of egg in my pic) The overall taste of the noodles were just ok, they do not put the sauce on the sis. I've dined in twice and ordered delivery countless times. Service was great when I dined in and their delivery service is pretty efficient. Their Pho broth tastes authentic and my partner loves their Lemongrass noodle soup. My wife and I were craving some pho and found this little gem on Yelp. We both ordered the pho but we also decided we wanted to try their banh mi with grilled pork. I also had a mango smoothie with tapioca pearls (boba). Starting with the pho, the broth was very flavorful and not too fatty. The serving was small compared to what most other places serve and I wish there was a little bit more meat. Otherwise, the flavor was there and it satisfied my craving. The banh mi was a nice bonus. The pork was very flavorful and the bread held it all together very nicely and offered a nice crunch with each bite. The mango smoothie was ok but I will skip it next time. Before I go into the negative, I have to say the flavors are on point. I ordered a vermicelli combo with shrimp and spring rolls. But the portion was outrageous, especially considering the average for Viet places. My shrimp combo, at $14, came with THREE regular sized shrimp. Spring rolls were fine and cut into small pieces but seemed to be a normal amount. But like, seriously, three shrimp? Wow, wow, WOW!!!!! The pho broth is the best in the area. I usually never finish a whole pho, but today I did. Wish they would let you substitute the beef with tendon but they charge extra. I've been on such a Vietnamese food kick recently. It's like I have to stop at every spot that I see whether in Jersey or NY. I'll be the first to say I don't like Hackensack. It's annoying to navigate, and I feel like nothing is here. The only place I liked in Hackensack was White Manna, but that has totally changed. Pho Saigon is absolutely amazing. Obviously their pho is top notch--I had both the beef combo pho and the seafood noodle pho. I preferred the seafood, but that isn't a knock against the beef pho at all. Their summer rolls are good--nothing out of the ordinary, but the peanut sauce made them amazing. This place is worth it. read more

I'm so excited there's finally a pho restaurant in my neighborhood that's actually good! The food was amazing! Beef pho soup was full of flavor and has that authentic taste I was craving. The appetizers were all tasty. Try the wings, crispy spring rolls and beef satay! My 4 year old gave them all a thumbs up during the entire meal! They have a good variety of dishes to choose from and service was fast. I will definitely be returning! read more

Love ordering takeout and Found this place on UberEats and found out they were affiliated with Saigon kitchen in fort lee, food is pretty much the same some slight differences, the wings delicious, their bahn mi is also a larger portion and flavorful, they are generous with extras that I asked for (cilantro and limes), ordered them a second time on Grubhub and it took very long, I recommend using UberEats! read more

I always get beef combo pho..I love the broth so much( I could just drink it all) Also the noodles always cook just right...Fresh veggies and meat too..Thats why you will never disappointed to come here...I also recommend their chicken viet wing..its absolutely delicious! I'm very disappointed with the service at this restaurant. Despite arriving first and waiting patiently, we were not seated, and other customers who came after us were given priority. The lack of organization and respect for our time made for a frustrating experience. I hope the management addresses this issue to prevent others from facing the same disappointment. read more

I search the best Vietnamese food around my home and I found this place. I went there and ordered Seafood Noodle Soup. I can tell you this is the best Pho I have ever had. The broth is so authentic and tasty. The waitress was very nice and helpful. Love to recommend. read more
